New extension for deleting Project/Workspace contents

Motivated by Shay's recent posting about JDeveloper extensions, I have developed an add-in that appears on the context menu of Workspaces and Projects and allows the physical deletion of their contents (folders, files) Its usefulness lies on the fact that you don't have to resort to the file explorer to do this kind of job.
A possible enhancement is to remove consequently the Workspace / Project icons as they continue to appear on JDeveloper, even though there are empty of contents and the actual .jpr and .jws files are removed. The workaround is to remove them with the help of the "Remove from..." icon.

Here is a code snippet that might help you implement the removal from the application navigator too. (this will go into the end of your handle event method).

UpdateMessage.fireChildRemoved(activeWorkspace,activeWorkspace);
Play around with this and see if you can come up with an updated version of the extension.

Program for deletion of table content.

Hi,
I have a requirement to delete the contents of table RSBERRORLOG , i cannot do it directly from table content delete option due to lack of authorisation. Is there any program that can be used for deletion of tabel contents ?

you can delete the RSBERRORLOG table by using the RSBM_ERRORLOG_DELETE report.
Additional info:
You can use the report RSB_ANALYZE_ERRORLOG to analyze which DTPs have created how many single record error messages, and to how many requests these messages are distributed. You can use the report RSBM_ERRORLOG_DELETE for single DTPs to delete the messages for requests up to a specified date.
If numerous single record errors are frequently created for specific DTPs, you should analyze the relevant requests in more detail and, if required, eliminate the error cause (for example, adjusting the transformation routines).

Is it possible to automatically create new folder for each project?

Hi! Here´s another (maybe stupid) question:
I wonder if it's possible for Premiere to also automatically create a new folder on the harddrive when a new project is created. This to get all material, preview files etc for each project in a separate folder.
It´s easy to forget to manually do this and I tend to end up with many projects and files in the same folder. Makes it hard when I want to "clean house" and delete some stuff and backup other.

Everyone develops their own method of project organization,
but this has worked for me through several versions of Premiere.
I keep a 'Project Template' folder that contains all of the sub-directories
that I will normally need for each job... Media, Approvals, Documents, Audio,
Rendered Image Sequences, Still Images, Finals etc.
This 'Project Template' folder also contains a template Premiere project that is
pre-set with the interface settings, column layout and project folders I will always use...
Audio (vo, music, sfx), Graphics (sequences, stills, titles, slates),
Cuts (approval versions, finals, and broadcast distribution finals).
When I start a new project I simply duplicate the entire 'Project Template' folder along
with all of its contents, then rename the folder and Premiere project to suit the current job.

(p 36) [on starting and saving a new project]
2     Click the Browse button to choose a location to save your new
project file.
We at Muvipix recommend always selecting the Browse option and,
wherever you choose to save your file, creating a new folder for every
new project file.
This little bit of housekeeping keeps all of your new project's files in
one neat, little folder. And, when your project is done and you want to
clear it from your computer, you can then remove not only the project
file but all of the temp, render and scratch disk files Premiere Elements
has created for that project simply by deleting that single folder!
This makes post-project clean-up a much easier and neater process.

Oh no! I thought I’ll re-work that Canal video again, but this time saved the project from the very start in a new folder on an ext HD (500 GB) connected USB3.0. Tried all sorts of things on it, saved each time in the same folder.   Cleared all 14 clips from Project Assets (which of course emptied the timeline).   Shut down PE11.   Checked via Windows Explorer that the project files were all on the ext HD – and by the way, there are no other files on it, just the PE files. My understanding is that Advanced System Care Pro (Iobit) regularly defrags all my drives if necessary (tho’ I haven’t done this manually for months with this drive).
OK, opened PE, went to Open Recent Projects, it shows the above .prel file and the entire path, I click on it and –

It’s so odd, because as I said previously, most of the time it works so well, does all the things it’s supposed to do.   I followed Steve’s instructions here to the letter.   By the way, as you know, it’s not just the ext HD, this has been happening all along with allowing PE to save everything in its default Folder 11.
I would be – now – very sorry indeed to have to abandon PE11 simply on this account, but it’s causing me to waste such a lot of time.   (Let alone the expense of buying it, plust one Lynda.com course, plus 2 books – not forgetting that I’d previously tried the Corel software and bought a book and DVD for that too!!)

New revision for a metadata only content

Hi all,
I'm using Webcenter Content (UCM) 11.1.1.6 and client is using a kind of documents without file associated. It's working fine with the AllowPrimaryMetaFile=true and createPrimaryMetaFile=1 variables, but client needs to have revisions of this content. We can't just update the content because they want to have a new revision for every change.
The checkout option is enabled but, when we try to create the new version, the metadata-only checkbox is missing and form asks for primary file.
Could you help me?

I was able to replicate your issue. If I am right, the caveat is not in the fact that CHECKIN_SEL_FORM does not understand the rule, but rather that no rule is used at all (it defaults to the standard check-in).
What have I done?
- I have created a simple rule where all the three keys were filled with values as advised.
- The rule contained just the mandatory fields (security group, document type document title).
- Then, I have created a profile consisting of this rule only (defined as Excluded non-rule fields). Note that in my system Profile Trigger Field uses a custom field called xProfile, which contains values from a table, so I had to add another record to that table ("HidePrimary").
- Now, with this setup, if you check in a new item using the profile, the Primary File is hidden, but when you check out the item and try to check in a new revision (CHECKIN_SEL_FORM) it appears - no profile, but standard check in form is used.
- Therefore, I have modified the rule to contain also xProfile field (InfoOnly) and I filled it with the default value "HidePrimary". This will force the system to use the HidePrimary profile even when a new revision is being checked in.
- Finally, I verified that it really works.

Order of "New" button for creating project not working

In Project Server I've added several EnterPrise Project Types, and now I want to sort them the way I want in the "New" button in project center. But no matter what I do, the order is always the same. For instance, if I tick the box for the "Construction"
EPT, it does not go to the end of the dropdown list when you click the "New" button.
I have tried this in other deployments and it's working, so how can I debug this?

Have you configured the EPT order in the server settings, as per the section #11 in the following article?

In case you did, I've never heard or seen such a bug. I'd advice to recreate EPTs from scratch since they are just containers.

Bummer. Trying to recover Metadata for deleted project

I accidentally deleted a project in Aperture 2.1.1. I found my project in the trash and re-imported it. Great. But no metadata or adjustments were imported. Then I tried a restore using Time Machine for just the single project. Same result. Is there any way to get the metadata and adjustments back or do I have a long night ahead of me? Thanks.

Sorry, but that doesn't appear to be possible.
If you are using the Template feature of Captivate, you could use Variables and insert them into the areas so that you could populate by updating the variable.
Of course you are also able to use variables outside of a template. But by using a template you are also configuring the look and feel, whilch is why I suggested it.

Error when manually adding user to project workspace

I am currently using Project Server 2010. I have a requirement for Business Users to have access to the project workspaces in Sharepoint but not be users of the PWA. Similar to as it is outlined in this Microsoft Documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197668(v=office.14).aspx)
There might be a circumstance where you want to grant people who are not members of the project access to the project workspace site. Anyone assigned to the Web Administrator group can create new users for a project workspace site. In addition to the
four groups that were mentioned earlier, there are four default SharePoint Server 2010 groups. They are as follows:
Full Control   Has all personal, site, and list permissions.
Design   Can edit lists, document libraries, and pages in the Web site.
Contribute   Can view pages and edit list items and documents.
Read   Can view pages, list items, and documents.
I have added the user to the Contributor group but when they try to contribute to the space, ie add documents or an issue/risk, they recieve an error, similar to as is documented in the following article (http://pwmather.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/manually-adding-users-to-project-workspace-project-site-in-projectserver-ps2010-ps2007-epm/)
What has been identified in this article makes sense.  I am just wondering why Microsoft documentation states that it can be done.
Any thoughts?

The Microsoft article says, users who are not part of the project. It does not say not part of project server.
However, as far as I can remember, this scenario could work if the "Synchronization" is turned off between Project Server and Project Sites. I will run a test and confirm, later today.

Burned DVD has new extension .localized

I'm burning a DVD from an .dmg file using Disk Utility.
Get Info the new DVD and it has a new extension, for example: Lego Star Wars.localized
Kids wrecked the original disk, thought I was being bright by imaging it as soon as we got it, the game won't recognize the new DVD.
No search results anywhere on this 'feature.'
Where is this .localized coming from and how to disable it?

What was happening during this segment? Fast action? Low light footage? Sped up footage?
I do lots of long form videos, up to 2 hours in length and I do fine that anything over 90 minutes or so can exhibit some issues when burned out to the the DVD ... you are maxing out the quality of what iDVD can do for you.
Maybe going back into FC and tweaking this areas could help; ie correcting lighting issues, or smoothing frames. If not, and the prob is just something you can't live with, split the project into two separate movies and create each in iDVD as Best Performance

Project Workspace template in Sharepoint 2010

I need some advice from Sharepoint experts, I have Sharepoint 2010 installed and now i want to create a Project Management Site, but when I try to open a new site as a Project Workspace (Project Site) I am not able to locate either templates from the available
list.
Why both templates are missing from my project template list?
Is there any special settings to enable these templates?
Please let me know if any further information needs to be provided.

Using Organizer for Business Projects

I am embarking on a very small home business creating photo montage DVDs with PS Elements and Adobe Premier. I'm wondering if others are using PS Elements 5 for the same. I'm wondering how you use the Organizer to best suit working with projects. I don't want to keep project photos on my computer indefinitely.
Do you create a new catalog for each project?
Once the project is done, do you keep a back-up of the project with off-line media (CD/DVD) or do you delete it permanently?
Suggestions would be most welcome!

If each project is truly independent, then having a catalog for each one may be a good approach.
Are you sure that these are really the right tools to be doing this commercially? There are quite a few programs designed for the task, which might be a better choice.

Can you save system settings scratch disks locations for each project?

When you begin a new project in FCE you need to set the System Settings Scratch Disks. Typically you would set a new folder for each project to keep all of your files for each project in one location for that project.
I have a couple of FCE projects going at the same time. I've set each project with a different system setting scratch disk location. But if I open a project which should have a unique scratch disk location folder that I've already set before for that project, it ignores the setting I set for that project and just shows the scratch disk setting for the last project opened instead. It does not appear to save or remember the unique setting for that project.
If you have multiple projects going at the same time, is there a way to save the systems settings scratch disk location for each project and have FCE remember that location for each project?

I turned off the Open Last Project on Application Launch in the User Preferences and it still does not remember the unique scratch disk settings for each project.
Since it is quite common to be working on multiple projects simultaneously, you would think that there would be a way in which to save the settings for each project to help keep all related files better organized.
Any other suggestions?
