New Firmware 1.0.2 - does this cure anybody's 2G Shuffle woes?

Plugged in my 2G shuffle to try and get it working before I take yet another one back to the store for a replacement, and I noticed a new software version for it - 1.0.2 - anyone installed this yet?
If so, does it cure any problems? I keep getting the "your iPod is corrupted and needs to be reset" every time I plug it in. It also makes Windows stutter and won't let me click on anything.
Weirdly, it seems to work better in the USB 1.1 ports on my laptop, than the 2.0 ports on my desktop. But guess where my music is...?

OK, I managed to update the firmware using the laptop. It took a while, but it worked nevertheless.
It appears that it's running slow on my lappy due it just being old (Sony Vaio Duron 800mhz, 256mb RAM) and being on USB 1.1
On my desktop (AMD 3200+, 1gb RAM) though, it steals all the system resources, takes roughly 1 minute per song to update the iPod, and eventually crashes iTunes. It won't restore on the desktop (it appears to start, but never finishes, even when left overnight. Sometimes when I plug it in it asks me to rename it, and I have to autofill it to be able to enable it for disk use to make it work. This of course means I lose all the music I spent so long adding to it.
To top it all off, iTunes hangs when click "unplug" and I have to use the Windows remove USB device utility to remove it safely.
Surely this can't be normal? But it's been exactly the same on all three Shuffles I've had, and all three levels of firmware (although 1.0.0 sometimes just refused to work at all) I'm very tempted just to ask for a refund, but it was a present, and I want to persevere as much as possible so as not to look ungrateful.

The data on the iPod has not changed one bit even though it shows as syncing. What do I do? The iPod works perfectly otherwise.

Thanks planb77. Your instructions worked but I had to do a little more than you stated. I did not realize that transferring files to a new computer was not enough. When the iPod synced I was told I needed to "authorize" my new computer to get my iTunes purchases to sync to the iPod. So after the initial sync, I ejected and disconnected the iPod, went into the iTunes store, set up "home sharing" and then authorized the new computer. When that was done I reconnected the iPod and was able to sync all my books and music. The only thing I couldn't do was rename the iPod as iTunes never asked me to. Is there a way to rename it after it has been set by iTunes as "owner's iPod"?

New iPhone, Different Carrier. Does this affect Backup

Does changing carriers when I get a new iPhone affect a Backup & Restore?
I currently have an iPhone 5 on AT&T. My new iPhone 6 Plus arrives in a few days, but I'm going with T-Mobile this time. I'm planning on doing a "Backup & Restore" using iTunes, but I'm unclear about how that works since I'm going with a different carrier for the new iPhone. Other than that poorly designed AT&T app, will any AT&T settings or info be restored to my new T-Mobile iPhone?

I understand how to transfer my content from my iPhone 5 to my new iPhone 6. I just wanted to make sure that in the process, I wasn't restoring AT&T settings or info. The page you linked to doesn't mention anything about when the old and new iPhone are on different carriers.

I have left blank the option of opening in new windows. But it does this anyway. How can I stop it?

in options "tabs" there is the opportunity to have new windows when opening something. I do not have this one checked, yet new windows open anyway. I just want one window which I can hit return for going back.

You can upgrade to Mavericks free, just run the App Store program and search for Mavericks. But before you do upgrade I recommend the following:
1) make sure you have a recent backup. TimeMachine is fine.
2) Mavericks is somewhat more memory hungry than 10.7 was. You will need 4 GB of RAM and I strongly recommend 8 GB.
Go back to the Apple menu and select About this Mac - look under the OS info you just looked at. You'll see how much RAM your computer has now. Then click on the More Info button. There you will see your computer info listed as in: iMac, 21.5" mid 2010, for example. Return back with that information and we can tell you how far the computer can be upgraded.
If you decide to procede and you have enough RAM upgrading to Mavericks is quite simple. Click on the download button and let it do its job.

Font substitution for Times New Roman? Why is Adobe doing this?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.2 to read pdfs created by a number of different authors. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit OS. These are NOT pdfs I have created. Some of these pdfs display an incorrect font substitution for Times New Roman and I can't figure out why. In the File/Properties dialog the font property comes up as Times New Roman, True Type, ANSI encoding (Times New Roman has spaces between the words). This font is not embedded. Adobe Sans MM is the font that my Adobe 9.2 substitutes for it, even though I have a true type Times New Roman already installed in Windows.I have installed all updates for both Acrobat and for Windows. If I select the text touch up tool to look at the text, a box comes up saying that the original font is not available and a substitute font will be used. When I look at the drop down box for fonts in Adobe, I see among all of the various fonts available, TimesNewRoman without spaces, but no Times New Roman with spaces. Does this matter?
When I go to my Windows Control Panel Fonts screen, I see a Times New Roman truetype font available (with spaces, the same as the font the document is requesting). It says OpenType Layout, Digitally Signed, TrueTyepe Outliers. I use it all the time.
What is required to get Adobe 9 to display this font? It looks like the document is asking for the font I have available on the system and Adobe 9 Pro just isn't identifying it. These same pdfs display just fine on Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0 on another Windows 7 64 bit OS machine. Is there a separate font library that Adobe has independent of the Windows font library and I simply don't have a complete set of fonts for my version? I don't have the option to have the authors recreate their documents. And they display just fine on an older version of Adobe on a different machine.
UPDATE: Adobe 9 required more than one update. I did the 300 mb update and the problem described above was still there. I checked again just now for updates, and there was another one. This one, whatever it was, fixed the font substitution problem. So the moral of the story is... update, then update again, and keep doing it until there are no more. Adobe doesn't say "there are xx updates available." You just have to keep on asking for them until it says 'no'.

The font Radioactive is the problem. It has an incorrect internal name that conflicts with Times New Roman. Delete Radioactive and ban it from any Mac you use.

With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.

How do I install new firmware for WRT160N?

Okay, I'm having the same DNS problems that everyone else seems to be having with this router. Wireless devices work fine, but my desk PC consistently fails to connect. If one of the wireless devices is actively sending/receiving packets, my desk machine works fine. I have a WRT160N v2 and the firmware version is 2.0.02, build 11 (the notorious one). My PC is a Vista 64 bit OS.
I saw they have a new version of the firmware (2.0.03), which I have downloaded (to hdd). Can anyone explain (in step by step, simple terms) how this ignoramus can install the new firmware (assuming of course, that this new version will solve my connection problems). TIA for any information/instructions you all can provide...

Upgrading the firmware resolves many problem, so you can try it...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"
Now reset your router.....Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Hallo,I downloaded today the new firmware version (.7.04) of this GREAT PLAYER but, when I tried to update, i received an error cause the player wasn't in Recovery Mode.
Can you help me?
I think the MUVO TX FM hasn't the Recovery Mode Option. I've read the firmware instruction and is explained how to update and how to start the recovery mode but i receive every time an error cause the player is not in Recovery Mode, so i can't update the firmware.
Has anyone tried to update to this new version?
The old firmwares were perfect and i used them simply starting the application but i've never seen this Recovery Mode function (now i've the .5.0).

Yes, i tried another time and i flashed successfully my Muvo. My error was, when i was connecting to the PC, i didn't keep pressed (:smileytongue the PLAY button for 0 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.

After flashing the firmware, the maximum volume level is modified from 40 to 25 but I think is optimized, I listen the music and the radio PERFECTLY.
