New ideas for pacman features

I'd like to start a discussion about pacman and some features I would like to see in it.
If I compile something with srcpac instead of installing with pacman, it would be nice if pacman remembered that I did so and recompiled the package next time I get an update of it. For instance: I compile my own (beyond) kernel, so I have to compile the kernel modules I use too. It would be nice if it could happen automatically: the kernel modules already get updated with the new kernel, so it would be just a matter of remembering that I like to compile these packages.
srcpac already supports the automatic alteration of a PKGBUILD, but it would be nice to have a more systematic approach like the make.conf file on a BSD system. This would make it easier to compile some packages with other than the default options of the PKGBUILD. The current grep method is too heavily depending on the format of the PKGBUILD and fails when the maintainer changes the PKGBUILD.
What are your ideas/opinions?

Why should these programs be separated? I think it would be wonderful to have one package manager where you can choose what to compile and what to take from binary packages. While I like binary packages, now and again there are packages I have to compile and it would be nice if it could be done automatically. makepkg and srcpac are fine for installing these packages, but not when updating the system. An easier and more robust approach to changing PKGBUILDS automatically by using variables that can be defined in a BSD-like make.conf file would be great.

New idea for app? how to i go about getting it made?

Im not totally sure this is the place to post this so if its wrong please steer me in the right direction. I have a very good idea for an a new app. There is nothing like it in the app store yet. So basically my question would be how do i go about getting something made into an app? Who do i pitch it too, where? any info would be appreciated. Its not a game so game companies are not what im looking for, and i dont know how to program at all so making it is not an option either.

New idea for apple

I have a great idea for Apple. With a market cap fast approaching 600 billion, Apple should consider expanding their product base. Apple should consider entering the automobile industry. Apple could specialize in an automobile that revolutionizes the simplicity of what cars are really meant for, transportation. The vehicle can be as simple as possible and allow passengers to fully integrate any Apple device or product into the design and function.
The vehicle can be totally top secret and be rumored to be the most fuel efficient vehicle in history. Taking everything into account such as carbon output, battery life, affordability, safety, simplicity and maintenance.
The name can be "Apple Stem" or "Apple Branch" or "Apple Core" or "Apple Seed" or "Apple One, Two, Three, etc., etc.."
The vehicle could and should be marketed for all ages. One line can be marketed for the first time driver through college. Special financing can be available that would allow for excellent interest rates while allowing a young teen to establish good credit in the process.
Another line of vehicles could be geared toward the aging population, with full integration of voice map features to help drivers navigate. The speakers can be mounted in the headrest so the hearing impaired can hear the directions more easily. This vehicle would also be the most simplistic of all, with room to expand features as appropriate.
I have other ideas as well if you are interested.

Apple does not accept unsolicited ideas. If you insist on sending them your idea according to Apples policies the idea becomes the property of Apple and you loose all rights to it.
It would be better for you to develop the idea, then if it amounts to anything and Apple is interested they will contact you. (As with Apples current move to acquire Beats Electronics).

New ideas for ipod touch

Here are my ideas for the ipod touch, put a flash light on it. I have a flash light on my t-mobile cell phone and I would like on on my ipod touch or iphone. Historically, a flash light uses little energy but useful during emergencies. Currently customers use their screens as light but there is a power saver. In case of an emergency, I want to be able to use a flash light without altering the power saver.

New Idea For Comf

I got an idea for easy use, Im using ZEN MICRO and searching music with only 300 songs takes forever..
My idea is that we will be able to choose the number skipping songs, normaly its one by one can creative make a choice for like by 5/0/20? It will make our search and skipping much faster..

Hmm, you're maybe right thow the fast scrolling isnt working that perfectly, i've got a problem with the volume\scrolling button so its not so good for people that have same problem..

An idea for a feature - resolving e.g. kde* for all kde-pkgs

first, before i start complaining about a missing feature, pacman is the best package-manager i know, and the system used in archlinux managing the OS parts and inventory of programms in it are simple and great
here the problem that brings me to this idea:
say i want to remove kde
-> what you have now to do: pacman -R kde{???}, well no actually you have first to go to the internet and have a search in the package-section to find out what packages are part of kde (kdebase, kdelibs ...)
here the idea:
what about being able to simply type
pacman -Q kde*
to find out what kde packages are installed on your system ... and futuremore being able to do also
pacman -R kde* #to remove all kde packages
#or
pacman -Rc kde* #to remove all kde and other related to kde packages
the same would be also cool for installing packages
->just to show you what happens now in pacman:
pacman -Q gnome*
Package "gnome*" was not found.
what do you think?

The installing groups is actually already implemented in the beta of 2.6, which is in ftp.archlinux.org/other/pacman
From the ChangeLog itself:
Added group handling, so one can run 'pacman -S kde' and
install all files from the KDE group
Not sure about the other things though, those sound like some very good ideas that should be considered and hopefully they aren't too hard to implement.

Idea for week feature in lanscape view in the iPhone iCal

There is ONE reason only for which my use of iPhone calender is slightly limited. There is no good week overview of all the things in my schedule. I would also like to see all the topics of my scheduled activites displayed on the week schedule, so that I didn't have to click on the individual dates.
OF COURSE this feature should be accessed by entering calender and then turning your iPhone to LANDSCAPE MODE ! Wouldn't that be sweet!?
Being from Europe, I would also like to be able to set Monday as the first day of the week. Oh man... I hope Apple is browsing these forums for ideas

Go to Settings > General > International.
What do you have selected for your Region Format?
If the United States is selected, Sunday will be shown as the first day of the week with Month view along with other format settings for the U.S.
Select a region with a format that includes Monday as the first day of the week.

New Ideas for Checklist Document

I have a checklist that I want to put online to help explain

is a checklist with steps 1 - 4 that are includes very detailed
directions. Very wordy, so I know I may need to use the highlight

New idea for 3D images

If anyone of you think that he/she may help bringing my idea about 3D images into life then contact me. I have a unique idea and do able in 3D imaging market. This might change the design of current camera in MacBook/iPads/iPhone devices.

I did a similar thing (although moving to a new computer with much bigger internal drive).
Based on some notes here, I create a new target directory on the target drive (in Windows, not in LR). Then I added that directory (empty) to LR.
Then in the Folder panel in LR, I am dragging and dropping the files to the new folder which MOVES the physical directories and keeps the LR catalog in sync.
It seems to be working, but it is slow. It goes photo by photo, but it does give you a progress bar at least.
If you move the files outside of LR, I don't know of any way to point LR to the new files, and for me at least, I have a lot of data in the LR database that is not written to the files, so if i re-import I would loose that metadata.

New idea for a future version of the pc suite

I'm sure this must of been thought of but as I've never had any sort of mp3 player i don't know.
anyway, i know the PC suite can download content from the phone to a PC and sync automatically ect... but how about giving the PC suite the ability to automatically upload content to the phone when new content is found in a specific folder on the PC. where this would come in handy would be for us folks who download pod casts on a weekly basis, if the pod casts were placed into a folder on the PC and then when the phone connected to the PC the pod cast could be uploaded automatically for listening to at a later date on the phone?
i suppose someone is now going to tell me this is exactly what happens with an ipod?

not really, in itunes you can set an auto sync for everything but not one folder. but being a sync that would still pick up your new podcasts (wouldnt be to slow if you are not using a full 60gb for instance)
you can do the same with windows media player 10, so maybe there is no need to do this for pc suite?

Ping!: NEW Idea for a more social music experience

I suggest a way for people to look at your music collection on itunes in a way that allows friends to see a list of everything(or things permitted by the user) in the users library in the form of a playlist where friends can preview and discover similar or new things. I say this because it's kind of annoying and pretentious to be throwing hundreds of youtube links on places like facebook. This way its a sort of 'come as you please' vibe.

I'm not quite sure I follow, but anyway, suggestions to Apple will be best submitted through the iTunes feedback page. Your comments will be most likely to get to the proper people within Apple that way.
