Explain please
Can anyone please for what do we use each of the below.
constants: c_3(1) type c value '3' ,
c_i(1) type c value 'I' ,
c_x(1) type c value 'X' ,
c_eq(2) type c value 'EQ' ,
c_pl03 like p0001-werks value 'PL03'.
For example:
constants: c_1(1) type c value '1' ."checks if reading is succesful
Thanks.
Hi Shaheen,
The Code that has been wirtten is called as constant decleration.
Constatns are used in coding for keeping a fixed value in a varible.
Suppose say
constants: c_3(1) type c value '3' .
Whereever you use c_3 it will be replaced with value 3 in runtime of the program.
And constants are used for avoiding hardcoing in the coding also and it will easy to change a value in the code which is used many times.
Regards,
Harsha

From who, you? Technically, there is no such thing as an iPhone 4G. Apple makes the phones & the official designation is iPhone 4, plain & simple. -

It has been happening since 10.8, now on 10.9 as well, probably hardware issue? It usually corrupts my main boot drive and sometimes Time Machine external drive as well.
Please any info will help.I tried Rember, let it run just for a few minutes, there are plenty of failures...
This is the log.

Windows8 partitions, explain please?
I've recently got a G505 and, unfortunately, it has Windows 8. I was trying to figure out which partitions are expendable so I can shrink Windows 8 partition, create a partition for Linux and then reinstall Windows 8 first and then Linux, so that I can dualboot.
I have no idea which partitions are expendable though, and which is the one that usually is tied to the warranty.
Here's a screenshot from GParted. Can someone please explain me the purpose of all of these except for /dev/sda5?
https://i.imgur.com/RNXo5AX.png
I have a feeling that /dev/sda{1,2,3,4} are practically useless, but I would still rather retain the warranty.Sorry, but your English is all but indecipherable. You may want to try posting in your native language. But again, Apple has never supported downgrading. There have been hacks that allowed it in some cases, but we cannot discuss hacks here.
Answering quickly regarding your problems, try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, not from a backup, and see if that helps with your battery life. If not, perhaps these suggestions will help:

Firefox 18 directory structure Explain please (linux and windows)
Please explain or point to where it is explained the structure of firefox 18. The reason I am asking this is that there are firefox folders all over the place. I need to know where the plugin folder is so that I can create a symbolic link to the java plugin
There is not one single location where all plugin files are stored. Plugins may be in the user's currently active profile folder (e.g., installed as part of an extension), or in the Firefox program folder (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\), or in another folder referenced in the Windows registry which could be a program folder (e.g., QuickTime) or in the Windows folder (e.g., Flash).
Why do you need to create a symbolic link to a plugin? -

Esata port multiplier explaination please
I am looking for some advice about an esata enclosure setup. I would like to move into a multiple drive array for FCP and would like to know how the port multiplier works.
I already have figured out that hardware RAID is superior to software RAID. My question is whether I can get an enclosure with the parts that handle the multiplying (I already have a newer technolgy extenders cable product), or whether I need both that and a card which handles the multiplying?
If someone could explain to me what I need, and hopefully how it works, it will be much appreciated.
Thanks.Thanks for the response.
The extender cable plugs two cables directly to 2 unused sata ports directly on the logic board. http://www.newertech.com/products/esata_cable.php
I believe I have found out that it does NOT support port multiplier from within an enclosure - not exactly sure why. That came from a post on this forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10117571
So then the question becomes, if I get a card like the Sonnet Tempo E2P (which does not have port multiplier) will I still benefit if I choose an enclosure which has an internal port multiplier? Or do I need both card AND enclosure - both with port multipliers???
Thanks so much. -
32 bit, 64 bit, etc. Explain, please.
would anyone be so kind to explain what the following from the Logic Express 8 official description means:
"Internal audio resolution: 32-bit floating point; 64-bit precision where required"
i mean i know of 16 and 24. but what are those above?When audio is recorded into computer format, it is normally recorded as 16 or 24-bit resolution. Think of these figures as representing the level of detail that can be recorded. 24-bit recording has 256 times more detail than 16-bit (though many people can't hear the difference).
Once the material is in digital form, it's in the format that you've recorded it in. However, if the computer is going to do substantial amounts of calculation (adding effects, summing signals, applying gain etc), some of the detail is lost, even more so if your signals are too hot and you get clipping.
To avoid this, Logic converts all your 16 or 24-bit files into 32 bits and then any lost detail when doing processing isn't significant. You can tell that Logic works in 32-bit because, if you freeze a track, the Freeze Files folder in your Logic Project folder contains 32-bit audio files. Open one in Quicktime and get the info for it.
You might think that working with greater levels of accuracy might slow the computer down but that's not really the case. Modern chips work with either 32 or 64-bit packets of data and it's no harder or slower to do a sum on a 32-bit value than it is to do the same on a 24-bit value.
Finally, when you bounce down your music, you choose the target bit depth (16 or 24) and the computer has to convert its 32 bit numbers into your chosen bit depth. Incidentally, this is where dithering comes in. You are automatically losing some level of detail going from 32-bit to 16-bit and dithering is a way of making sure that no artificial waveforms (called aliasing) are created when you do so.

Hi, im very new to Java language..
Can someone help me to explain this statements..
public static void main(String[] args)
Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.print("How much money do you need for retirement?");
double goal = in.nextDouble();
System.out.print("How much money do you need to contribute?");
double payment = in.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Interest rate in %: ");
double interestRate = in.nextDouble();
double balance = 1000;
int years = 0;
while (balance < goal)
balance += payment;
double interest = balance * interestRate / 100;
balance += interest;
years++;
What does += means?? how does it goes about above? does it add up?
Thanks in advance..jerangkong wrote:

}What does += means?? how does it goes about above? does it add up?Ah, a question that even I can answer :)
this:
a += b;
a *= b;
a /= b;
a -= b;is the same as this:
a = a + b;
a = a * b;
a = a / b;
a = a - b;So your code above is the same as:
while (balance < goal)
balance = balance + payment;
double interest = balance * interestRate / 100;
balance = balance + interest;
years++;

Explain please differences of report, dynamic page, frame, portlet
Hi to all -
I am a beginner with using WebDB/Portal development so forgive me for such simple questions.
Can someone explain or point me to a site that explains the differences between report, dynamic pages, frame drivers and portlets? I am trying to understand when I might use say a dynamic page rather than a report, etc. Also, does the PDK functionality complement Portal or is it it's own web development tool entirely?
I thank you for your shared knowledge

There is actually a portal specific forum on OTN which is where the portal experts are all concentrated. See, <a href="http://technet.oracle.com:89/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Oracle9[ii[/i+AS+Portal&number=70&DaysPrune=20&LastLogin=">Oracle9iAS Portal</a>
If you've not seen it, there is a ton of good info available for portal. See the page for
<A HREf="http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/iportal/doc_index.htm">Portal</a> whitepapers, tutories, faqs, etc.
The PDK is a set of APIs which expose the services provided by Oracle9iAS Portal. This enables you to build your own custom portlets (the building blocks of a portal and it's pages) using your preferred development language and environment. Note that you can also expose a lot of the inbuilt functionality of portal as portlets to enable the easy reuse of people's work.
See <a href="http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=350&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO">Oracle Portal Studio</a> site for more details on the PDK and portlets.
cheers!

Can anyone esplain why I cannot upload movies from my Panasonic TZ30 camera? I able to upload stills and I was able to upload movies from my previous Panasonic TZ5. Since I use iMovie a gret deal it is very disappointing not to be able to use the videos from my new camera.
What format are you shooting? AVCHD? Not all versions of that are supported.
A note on AVCHD: This format was developed for people who are shooting to edit the material afterwards. If you're shooting to edit, then iMovie or Final Cut are the correct home for this material. If you're not shooting to edit consider using one of the other video formats on your Camera. -
Blue dot arrow in box VS NO blue dot arrow in box. Explain, please!
WHAT I SEE IN SAFARI:
Some pages have the "Return to Main Site Menu" text line IN A BOX, but some other pages have that text line NOT IN A BOX. Specifically:
"Photos — Past" has "Return to Site Menu" IN A BOX.
"Photos — Present" has "Return to Site Menu" NOT IN A BOX.
BUT WHAT I SEE IN IWEB: (First of all, in iWeb I formatted all of those R.T.M.S.M. text lines in a box because all text has to be surrounded by a box. Now then:)
In iWeb, I see:
In the page "Photos — Past" the text line (R.T.M.S.M.) is inside a simple box with nothing else on the box.
But when I look at "Photos — Present," the box around the text line has a little curved white arrow in a BLUE dot at the bottom right of the text box.
So here is my ad hoc analytical equation (Remember it's AD HOC.)
Blue dot arrow in iWeb = No box surrounds text line in Safari
No blue dot arrow in iWeb = Box surrounds text line in Sarafi
NOW THEN:
I understand the simple causal relationships, but what I would like to understand is:
1. Beyond the absence or presence of a box around a text line in Safari, what is the difference between a box with a blue dot arrow and a box without a blue dot arrow? Beyond this visual difference in Safari, is there a functional difference which can come back and affect me later on in some way?
2. What did I do differently in iWeb to create a blue dot arrow in some cases and no blue dot arrow in other cases? My memory does not record HOW I made a text line into a hyperlink! Holy smoke, that's a fine line! All I recall is that I selected the text line and hit the hyperlink button in the Link Inspector! Oh-- ok in the first cases I think I put the boxed text inside another box I created. In other words, a box inside another box, and then all of it selected for hyperlinkage. Oh... is that it? <gulp> But I don't remember which is which, and I would have to re-create it on a new practice page.
Thank you in advance for shedding any light on this, because it is REALLY bewildering me. Is it ONLY a matter of boxes around a text line? Or more?
Lorna in Southern CaliforniaJames,
I am impressed with your easy, friendly and mostly, useful replies for many of us....well...newer types!
Your response here to Lorna has answered a question I had not yet formulated....you see...when I started to build my post-"Last Rites 35 Year Reunion" web site (an old age clue!...), I did not realize that when published, the little blue circles disappeared!!!...so... I have learned and continue to do so.
I have spent the past 3 months (in spare time...I work...) organizing the resultant photos from that two day reunion event.
iWeb started me on this path, and my site (http://web.mac.com/larrycook1/iWeb/Cooksite-1/Welcome.html) has many of the issues & challenges you and others have discussed and counselled over that time....unfortunately, I lose the 'threads' of help...so I apologize for interjecting here...I was not sure where I could get "in".
1. The photos on my web are working ok.
2. I have three slide shows created in (Apple) Keynote transposed into QT Pro (7) into .mov & dragged onto three separate web pages.
The first two, "Faces" & "Potpourri" pages show, but the audio wouldn't play so I had to drag in audio separately....then instruct people to push the two buttons to get the 'full monty" effect...a work around, since I have given up trying to solve it....and there is so much else to do in life...
I read your comments about isquint and created a Mp4 from the QT Pro movie...it looks ok in iWeb but ....now
I cannot get the iweb to publish...get error messages like 'can't save the media......movie'.
Since I am low tech...I cannot understand what is going on or how to fix this.
If I try to publish to a folder, will it replace what is in there now or will it just build up...it is not clear for me.
3. I have no idea if purhaps I have too much memory in my site for the movies to be working properly....or am I corrupted?
All & any suggestions welcome. If the above have been answered elswhere, ... could you send me a link?
thanks,
Larry

The details are in the question.
The Firefox "Menu Bar" has a 'Tools' list/menu, wherein lies an 'Options' option.
This produces a window which presents eight further sets of options, which are selected by clicking on an 'icon' at the top of this window. Clicking on the "Advanced" icon, and then the "Update" tab, allows me to select, or deselect, the option to "...receive automatic updates to your search engines."
The Mozilla Support search engine was unable to find a match for the above question; can any of Mozilla's helpers locate the missing explanation?
What search engines are these? What updates are these?Thank you. I had used the Customize Toolbar option to remove that item from the Navigation Toolbar as I like settings in the online version of one or other search engine, and I had not played with this feature to see if it was that flexible.
Now all I need is to find out what is indicated when Firefox "updates" these plugins, and whether they are of any actual use.
Thank you for your contribution. -
Could someone explain please how to use the Birthday option?
I found the Birthday function in OS 4 on my iPhone but I don't understand where I have to enter info for this. I cannot find a label in iCal or the address book, how exactly is this used?
AndreasvanHaren wrote:

It comes from AddressBook.
To add it via your Mac: Open Address Book, select an entry, click the edit button, then in the AddressBook menu (across the top of the screen), select "Card" -> "Add Field" -> "Birthday". Fill in the details & save. (note: on the Mac's iCal application preferences there is a checkbox to indicate whether you want the "Birthdays" calendar displayed.
To add it via your iPhone: Open "Contacts" (or view Contacts from the Phone application). Select an entry and tap "Edit". Scroll all the way to the bottom and click the "+" button next to "add field". Select "Birthday" then fill in the details & save the entry. -
On My Mac / Import / Inbox appearing can someone explain please?
After clicking on "show mailboxes" I see under Junk the tab >"On my Mac" when I expand it shows >Import and then show >INBOX which has hundreds of unread emails in it. They are copies of emails already received but I just discovered them. Anyone tell me what's going on and why they are there? Seems like a waste of space? Thanks in advance.
The only way to have an Import folder and an imported mailbox within under On My Mac in the mailboxes drawer is by using the Import Mailboxes feature since these can't be created any other way.
If you don't need to want the Import folder and imported mailbox within, delete them.
