New iphone 4 won't sync- Help!

I have a new 16 gb iPhone 4- got it today. I changed it fully and then plugged it in to sync on my Toshiba laptop. It started syncing apps (I also have an older version itouch) and I told it to select a few photo albums and a couple playlists for music. For some reason, it was only showing 4 GB as my max capacity and it went to 13.08 (or close to that) and then then back again. Then I got all these errors that the iphone couldn't sync. (I was adding less way than 4 GB). My itunes is up to date as of today. Any suggestions???
I've had an iTouch for years (and a mini before that) and never had this problem.

Thanks for all the replies guys - you've been great. jk
I solved my problem by reinstalling iTunes. I would have done that sooner, but, I have a very large library and a lot of playlists and I was worried about possibly loosing some of that. The reinstall was fine, nothing was lost and my iPhone 4 syncs now.
Here is a page from Apple with advice for the same problem - though there isn't too much there that you all probably wouldn't try on your own:

  • New Iphone 4s won't sync, can't get past 'syncing calendars step 2 of 6'???

New Iphone 4s won't sync off my computer, can't get past 'syncing calendars step 2 of 6'.  Got 1/3 of old apps, and contacts, but a 2/3 of my old apps are on the computer....  not real computer savvy, any suggestions?

no no a hard reset is just something you do to the phone, you wont lose any data or anything else its litterally like starting your phone on a fresh slate running wise but you wont lose anything at all, all your apps settings etc will still be right as you left it. think of it as a step above turning it off and on again

  • New Iphone just WON'T sync - I've tried everything!! Please help

I bought a new Iphone yesterday and for some reason the lady synced it at the store (I had no idea what she was doing at that point - she told me she was 'unbricking it'). Anyway when I came home my own itunes wasn't recognising the Iphone (despite repeated attempts). So after reading up on the iphone a little bit i resetted it by deleting all data and settings. After this, every time i try to turn on my Iphone it just displays the usb and apple symbol icons, and everytime I connect it, itunes won't recognise it. Even though vista makes the "connection" sound the Iphone just isn't recognised. PLEASE HELP!! I have tried everything! Restarting comp + iphone, reinstalling itunes, downloading itunes 9, reinstalling the usb port, borrowing my brother's connection cable to make sure mine wasnt faulty. Device manager just won't recognise the iphone.
Please help!! I bought it from a store far away so the chances of visiting it again soon are fairly slim.

  • Brand new Iphone 5c won't sync with Itunes

I am new to the Iphone.
I just bought a new iPhone 5C and wanted to sync it with my itunes library. I have hooked up the phone to the computer with the USB cable provided, and updated my itunes to most current version.
Everytime I have searched for help, the general answer is to hook up the iphone, and then choose the device under files tab. Or that the device should appear next to the tab that takes you to the itunes store. But neither of these show up as an option for me. ( I can click devices, but can't click anything after that).
    Any help will be appreciated.

If you would have looked at the tech specs:
    Mac system requirements
    * Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
    * Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
    * iTunes 9.2 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    * iTunes Store account
    * Internet access
This has been out since the phone was launched. Depending on your Mac it might be a $30, or a 130. best to make an appt with your local Apple store to see what can be done.
    Good luck.

Iphone is brand new. I'm using the latest version of itunes 10.6 i think), and the iphone is version 6.0  All I get is a message that keeps saying "Waiting for changes to be applied".  This is so frustrating. Can someone please help? The phone is brand new with no voice messages on it.

  • Brand new iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes!!

I can see this topic has been covered several times but I haven't been able to fix this problem. Is it true that you must have iTunes 10.1 to use an iPhone 4?!?! Because I was never informed of that...sorry if I'm sounding stupid but I am brand new to mac and to the iphone and don't understand. I have read elsewhere that you only need iTunes 9.2 (which I have) but when I plug in my iphone it says I need version 10.1...and I can't get version 10.1 because I only have OS X 10.4.11...what the heck am I supposed to do? Is it true I'll have to pay an additional $130 to upgrade on top of all the money I just dropped on the phone?
    Please help!

  • HT1349 My new iPhone 4S won't sync to my MacBook Pro.  I installed the latest version of iTunes but it doesn't recognize my phone when I connect with USB.  Any ideas on how to resolve this?

It's strange, on my work issued Windows laptop I have no issues syncing my iPhone to iTunes.  But on my personal MacBook, iTunes does not pick up my iPhone when I connect via USB.  Any advice on this please?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

  • My iPhone 5 won't sync with the Nike Plus sensor

My iPhone 5 won't sync with Ike Plus sensor, new or old.

    Hello bfelix,
You may need to switch 'Nike + iPod' off in your Settings, then re-enabling it. Make sure that the sensor is not in sleep mode (which can be corrected by pressing the small button on the side opposite the Nike and Apple logos). Depending on the age of the sensor, however, the battery may be depleted.
Make sure you have the latest version of... iPhone... software and iTunes installed.
Make sure the sensor is not in sleep mode by using a pen or stylus to press the Sleep/Wake button on your sensor once to wake it up.
On your home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap the Nike + iPod option.
Disable the Nike + iPod feature and then re-enable it by tapping the On/Off button at the top of the page.
Place the sensor back in the shoe and walk around to activate the sensor as you attempt to relink it to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS.
If the issue persists and you have access to another sensor, link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS. If you can link the new sensor to your iPod touch or iPhone, take in your first sensor for service.

The Nike + iPod Sensor's battery is not replaceable or rechargeable and has a life of over a thousand active hours. The sensor has a sophisticated built-in power-management system, allowing the sensor to consume power only when active (that is, when it senses motion).
    Cheers,

  • IPhone 4s won't Sync

My iPhone 4s won't sync with my Macbook Pro.
    I have:
Macbook Pro running Mac OS 10.5.8
iTunes 10.6.3 (i.e. latest update - which hasn't had an issues apart from syncing).
I just updated the iPhone to iOS6 (thought it wasn't syncing before the update either).
I also just uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 10.6.3
I tried 3 different USB sync cables. Still not syncing.
Do I really have to update my Mac OS (to 10.6.8 or 10.7) in order to sync my phone ? I thought as long as you have iTunes 10.6.3 you're ok...
Is there a way to update to Mac OS 10.6.8 (or later) without wiping the hard drive and doing a new install?..
    thanks

Its telling me it cannot read or find the podcasts I'm trying to sync. I can hear them through my computer though.

  • My iPhone 4 won't sync my calendars with my MacBook.

My iPhone 4 won't sync my calendars with my MacBook.
If I update my iCal on my MacBook it will sync with my iPhone 4, but if I enter new data on my iPhone, it won't sync with my iCal on my computer.

Here is the official article on this problem.
My suggestion, try syncing with sync music turned off. If that doesn't work, try syncing in a new User Page on your mac.
    Try those

  • My iPhone 4 won't sync with my iTunes

Couple days ago I reboot my MacBook Pro because it was slow and I thought it would be helpful if I reboot it, after I reboot it my iphone 4 won't sync anymore. What can I do to make it sync it again?

Does your Mac meet the requirements for the latest version of iTunes?
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    Safari 4.0.3 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
In the future, you're more likely to get faster, more appropriate responses by posting to the correct forum.  The iPhone Hardware forum is not the correct place to be posting issues regarding iTunes on your Mac.
