New itunes, no old itunes. How do I put the music on my ipod onto my itunes

I recently had my computer cleaned out. When they clean it out, they clean it out. They ended up having to remove my music folders to clean it out. How can I put the music on my ipod onto my new itunes? Is there a way I can do this?
Thank you.

Hey there,
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead. Hope this helps.

  • How do I put the music on my ipod onto a new computer?

I read the thing on how to put the music on my ipod onto my new computer and it says you need the old computer which I don't have because it died.
    What else can I do?

itune blocks this function, you must utilize other tools to achieve that. There're couple of tools for transferring the files between ipod and computer depends on your demands, e.g transfer only songs/videos, transfer photos etc. You can have a look at this review site, hope it useful.

  • How do I put the music on my IPod onto the ITunes on my new computer? Help

Just got a new computer. How do I put the music, ect. on my IPod onto the ITunes on the new computer?
I downloaded ITunes onto the new computer, plugged in my Ipod, and a box popped up asking to either erase or transfer what was on my Ipod. I'd read before we put up the new computer that all you have to do is click the Transfer button and it will put all the music, ect. onto the ITunes account. Well, it didn't work. The page where it shows the bar that shows the memory is on the ITunes and shows exactly what it did on the old computer, but that's it. There's no music, nothing. I logged on to my ITunes account, that did nothing. What can I do? There has to be SOMETHING. Thanks so much!

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

    YamiPod Mac and Windows

iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • How do I put the songs on my iPod onto my iTunes

I put iTunes onto my laptop and want to put my songs from my iPod onto my iTunes, how do I do this or do I have to rip my cds again to put the songs onto iTunes?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

An iPod can only sync all media from the one iTunes library/computer yo can have. You have two choices:

  • How do I put my music from my iPod Touch to iTunes on my computer?

okay, I read a lot of questions in a similar format but nothing has helped. Here is my situation and what I have done.
I have an iPod Touch and my computer crashed, I had to restore my system completly. I thought I had backed up my iTunes but I did not back up all of my content. However, the music I did not back up are on my iPod. How can I put my music from my iPod to my iTunes WITHOUT erasing my music I have on my iPod? Some of the music on my iPod I do not have anymore so I can't erase my music I have on my iPod.
I tried to "authorized" my computer/iTunes to my iPod but a pop up came up and said my computer was "already authorized". I also tried to back up my iPod but that did not do anything. I also went under iTunes and checked marked "manually manage music" but nothing works.
    What can I do?

I recently got a new computer and got rid of my old one. I am trying to put the music from my ipod touch onto my new computer but keep getting a message saying that my ipod is already synced with a library and cannot be synced with more than one. How do I access that library on my new computer and if I can't are their other ways for me to put the music on my ipod into my new computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How do I get the music from my iPod into my iTunes library on a new computer without erasing all the songs on my iPod?

My itunes library is empty on my new computer, but I have a full library on my ipod. How do I "reverse" sync? I don't see an option in itunes to put all the info from my ipod onto my computer. I see it the other way, which would then erase all the data on my ipod. Help!!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
