New line in output
Hi
I have a receiver FCC.(file to file scenario)
I wanted a an empty line at the begininning of my output.
Does add.headerline work for that? if not can sum1 suggest something?
Thanks
Mark
Hello,
Try this parameters at the receiver file adapter:
NameA.addHeaderLine
Specify whether the text file will have a header line with column names. The following values are permitted:
· 0 u2013 No header line
· 1 u2013 Header line with column names from the XML document
· 2 u2013 As for 1, followed by a blank line
· 3 u2013 Header line is stored as NameA.headerLine in the configuration and is applied
· 4 u2013 As for 3, followed by a blank line
This specification is only permitted if exactly one structure is defined.
NameA.headerLine
Specify the header line that is generated in the text file if NameA.addHeaderLine has the value 3 or 4. This specification is mandatory in this case.
Also you can search "Converting File Content in the Receiver Adapter" on help.sap.com

How make "Scanner" not printing the output in a new line?
Hi!
I'm Jordi from Barcelona and I'm new on Java and on this Forum. I have a question to you. I'm developing a testing application that uses the "Scanner".
Before using it, the app asks a question to the user:
String strInput;
Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.print("* Please, write your name: ");
strInput = sc.next();Running this, the app asks me for the options and after pressing "Enter" prints the input string in a new line like this:
* Please, write your name:
Jordi
And I would to get the next:
* Please, write your name: Jordi
Does anybody know how to make the "Scanner" print the output in the same line as the question?
Thanks for your help!
JordiRunning the code,
import java.util.Scanner;
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.print("* Please, write your name: ");
System.out.println("* Hi, "+sc.next());
}results in the following output:
* Please, write your name: Bart
* Hi, BartWhere the first "Bart" is the input I gave.
If this is not the case, then it has something to do with your IDE or perhaps you didn't recompile and it previously was
System.out.println("* Please, write your name: "); // println instead of printbut it's all guesses.
Good luck. -
Missing white apce and new lines in pdf report output
Ive set up an XSL template to organize the output of a query. The output is missing the new lines and whitespace. I have to believe this is due to the template since the same output viewed in a form is correct. In another thread I have seen that "* {white-space: pre}" is required. Can anyone elaborate on this?
OK, thanks. I must say I've found getting my feet wet with SQL Developer quite a frustrating exercise. I've been using Toad for the last 7+ years and having recently migrated my desktop from Windows to Linux I needed to find a replacement (yes I know about VMWare, Wine, etc but I want to get away from Windows completely if possible).
SQL Developer is a good start, but IMO there are still plenty of rough edges that need knocking off. Maybe I've been spoilt by Toad - and in particular the Toad development team through their support on the mailing lists, but I don't see the same level of support here by the Oracle development team.
Anyway, enough grumbling. Back to work :-) -
Output text component new line
HI Team,
I am picking up a value from resouce bundle for output text component.
I wish to display data in output text component to display data after a new line.
Suppose the message is coming as How are you.Welcome
Now it should come as
How are you
Welcome
Any help how is this achievable.
I am working on Jdev 11.1.1.6
Regards,
AjayHi Team,
The issue is resolved now.
I have changed the escape property of output text component. to false so as to avoid the <br /> being HTML-escaped. and at the value level have used like
<af:outputText value="#{XX.YOUR_REQUEST_HAS_BEEN_SUBMITTE}<br /><br />#{XX.YOUR_REQUEST_HAS_BEEN_SUBMITTE1}"
id="ot10" escape="false"/>
Where XX.YOUR_REQUEST_HAS_BEEN_SUBMITTE=Value1 and YOUR_REQUEST_HAS_BEEN_SUBMITTE1=Value2 in my resource bundle file.
Output is coming as
Value1
Value2
Does any one know how can i mark it as correct , can't see it after the forums upgrade to new one.

How to remove new line character from query output?
Hi,
How to remove new line character from query output?
have tried select replace(column_name, CHR(10), ' ') from table_name.
Edited by: GreenHorn on Sep 11, 2008 12:53 AMPlease consider, that windows uses a sequence of chr13||chr(10) Unix uses only one character chr(10).
The new line character(s) may be OS-dependent.
You could consider both with:
replace(replace(column_name, CHR(13)||CHR(10), ' '),CHR(10),' ')

Report output on one Line, without new line (cariage return)
Hello I use a user defined report with style plsql. The output is with many dbms_output.put_line and is displays in only one line. May I ask you to get the output on more the one line. For eatch dbms_output I wont to have a new line (cariage return). Many thanks for help in advance
In the body of the report, I used HTML tags to control the appearance.
For example, to see what database features you have used in your database today, the following code works well:
begin
dbms_output.enable(1000000);
dbms_output.put_line('<PRE>');
for rc in ( select output from
table(dbms_feature_usage_report.display_text)
) loop
dbms_output.put_line(rc.output);
end loop;
dbms_output.put_line('</PRE>');
end; This yields the following output
DB FEATURE USAGE report for
DB Name DB Id Release Total Samples Last Sample Time
ABCPROD 900004321 10.2.0.1.0 78 09-Oct-09 18:29:17
DB Feature Usage Summary DB/Release: ABCPROD/10.2.0.1.0
-> This section displays the summary of Usage for Database Features.
-> The Currently Used column is TRUE if usage was detected for
-> the feature at the last sample time.
Curr-
ently Detected Total Last Usage
Feature Name Used Usages Samples Time
Automatic SQL Execution Memory TRUE 78 78 10/09/09 18:29
Automatic Segment Space Management (syste TRUE 78 78 10/09/09 18:29
etc.However if you comment the lines with the beginning and terminating tags for preformatted text, then you get output confined to one line that starts out like:
DB FEATURE USAGE report for DB Name DB Id Release Total Samples Last Sample Time ------------ ----------- and you'll have to scroll to the right or figure how you want to break it up -- That's too much work.
My configuration:
Windows XP SP3
SQL Developer 1.5.5 Build MAIN-5969

Extraneous new lines in HTML output of JSP page
Hi
I have bunch of JSP fragments that I use while creating a composite view..Each one of them has server side comments that I use to document their functionality...
However when final JSP is generated and when I look at the HTML source (which I often need to) it is "chunked" - there is a about 50 blank lines inserted at the top of the page and then on each fragment about 10 or more blank lines.... Initially, I thought that the server side comments created new lines but after removing the comments and redeploying the problem still persists......
Is there a way to prevent these new lines from being generated? Especially the ones at the start of the document....
ThanksThat is not the only way. In your server's default web.xml, there should be a servlet definition for JSPs, something like this:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet</servlet-class>
<init-param>
<param-name>fork</param-name>
<param-value>false</param-value>
</init-param>
<load-on-startup>3</load-on-startup>
</servlet>There is a possible init-param called trimSpaces which will do the job:
<init-param>
<param-name>trimSpaces</param-name>
<param-value>true</param-value>
</init-param>This may be only a Tomcat 5 feature, however. -
How to print new line in jsp page
hi
how to print new line in jsp page
thanks\n - new line character is in java specific not HTML
specific.Well, if the correct line separator sequence (by far not always \n) would be used, it does add a new line to the HTML output. Too bad that you don't want to see HTML but formatted text. The BR tag is a formatting element for the displayed text, not a line break in HTML. ;) -
Hi,
I am not clear about NEW CELL and NEW LINE in The Main window -> Table -> Footer -> Output options -> Output Table. Could any one help in explaining exactly what is the purpose of it.
Thanks
Ramwhen you are placing a text element, you need to specify whether you want this text element to be displayed in the next cell of the table. If the text element is to be displayed in the next line then you will have to check that as well. So, if you are displaying a list of fields in a row format then for the first field, you check both line and cell and for the rest of the fields you check just the cell.

Ravi

500k profile after disruption and new line install...
Hello,
Status:
I have an open fault logged with BT;
Phone line ok but broadband speed low, profile appears stuck at 500k.
History: sporadic BBand connection and noisy phone line followed by outright failure of both.
Engineers visited and confirmed line between street and master socket probably corroded - they put it on leg+leg to get it working while we waited for a new physical line to be installed.
Pavement was dug up, new armoured cable run from street to house, and a proper master socket fitted (NT5 ? but no inbuilt ADSL filter).
In effort to ensure low noise, ALL other sockets in the property disconnected.
Digital phone (3 handsets off a single powered base) are run off the master socket using a filter.
Router is business hub - 2700hgv; f/w 6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm , h/w 2701-100589-005 .
Hub is connected to same master socket as phone (as it's the only socket now connected to the new line).
New line was installed approx 18 days ago.
Speed tests (speedtest.net) repeatedly show download of 480kbps, upload around 620kbps.
No change since new line was installed and all but the master socket decomissioned.
I use wireless to the router but also repeated tests with a Cat6 copper RJ45 cable and got same results.
Have taken all wireless devices offline and removed electrical items near phone line power supply and cable path to reduce potential noise and repeated tests.
I left the router on for two weeks and no increase in broadband speed.
I rebooted it twice this weekend to see whether it picked up a different profile - but no change.
BT speedtester repeatedly indicates a profile of 500k (full results further down).
Last year I had speeds about 512k on a DrayTek router before switching to the 2700HGV. The change to the BT hub upped the download speed to around 1Mbps, which made a huge difference.
I know I am "a long way from the exchange" but I've had 1Mbps last year and now have a new line into my property, so not much left that I can do to improve the situation.
I'd like to know what can be done to get me at least 1Mb download again.
I have an engineer visit due tomorrow but I believe that will be purely to finish putting paving slabs back over the armoured cable that's been installed (i.e. OpenReach dig team rather than line engineers).
After those slabs are done, I expect the fault will be closed but I'll still have a 500k profile and will need to raise a new fault all over again - that fault was opened 5 weeks ago.
Results of speedtester.bt.com run just now (1pm Sun 13th March 2011):
Download speed achieved during the test was - 363 Kbps

Appending to new line in text file
I am trying to append text to a new line to a file. I set the append parameter to true and I try to output the new line character after I write the string to the file. Hi -
Im using the FileWriter and BufferedWriter classes to output text into a .txt file.
The text I am writing is taken from another text file using the FileReader and BufferedReader classes.
The text is reading from the file, and will also output to the new text file, however it won't insert a new line, it only inserts an 'unprintable' character i.e. an empty square
My code is below - its only starting out so its farily simple at the moment, just reading from one file and outputting to another.
Is there a way i can get the actual new line/carriage return inserted instead of the empty square. (im running Windows XP)
Thanks in advance
import java.io.*;
public class Pad {
private String inputPath;
private String outputPath;
/** Creates a new instance of Pad */
public Pad() {
inputPath = "C:\\OUTBOUND.TXT";
outputPath = "C:\\04'06.txt";
* @param args the command line arguments
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO code application logic here
System.out.println("PAD File");
//Read PAD File
Pad p = new Pad();
p.readPADFile(p.inputPath, p.outputPath);
public void readPADFile(String inputPath, String outputPath)
inputPath = this.inputPath;
outputPath = this.outputPath;
//System.out.println(inputPath);
int recordCount = 0;
String record = null;
try
FileReader fr = new FileReader(inputPath);
FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(outputPath);
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(fw);
record = new String();
while((record = br.readLine())!=null)
recordCount++;
//System.out.println(recordCount + ": " + record);
bw.write(record + "\n");
bw.close();
br.close();
fw.close();
fr.close();
}catch(IOException e)
System.out.println("IOException Error");
e.printStackTrace();
System.out.println(e.toString());
}I assume by using the
System.getProperty("line.separator") that this will
work independent of platform.Yes. And using bw.println() instead of bw.print() will already do it for you. So all you need to change in your program are two letters. -
How to insert new line in textarea
I try programatiaclly to add for example three strings in <textarea>
the final result should be something like this:
--TEXTAREA TAG BEGIN
line1
line2
line3
--TEXTAREA TAG END
I tried the hack described here;
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg08294.html
<c:set var="temp" value="one
two"/>
<c:set var="newline" value="${fn:substring(temp,4,5)}"/>after that I used it like this:
<textarea>
// forEach begin (write some output)
<c:out value="${newline}"></c:out> //try to add new line
// forEach end
</textarea>Sorry about the wrong comment style, I'm just pointing out whta I expect as a result.
I was surprised when I found out that "newline" value is "t" instead of special character "\n" or "\r". Anyway, I didn't receive the desired result.
I use XML JSP files and UTF-8.
Can anyone help me?I think I remember using a pre tag in between.
<pre>
// ur text area tags here.
</pre>
