New MacBook Pro.  Trying to do a fresh install of CS6.  Wont Work

I put in my valid CS6 serial number and it asks to put in a serial number from a qualifying product.  So I enter in my CS 5.5 serial.  No success.  What can I do to get past this?  No phone number for tech support.

If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.
Look at B5 and B6 here about connecting to your backup.

    Additional Information.
On my Mail Accounts setup it was set to "verizon.net" on incoming.
    Now it faintly reads, "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net"
This came up automatically ....  I did not do it and I cannot change it

iTunes is already pre-installed on all new Macs.  Do you mean that you updated it from Software Update?
Your iPod Touch problems should be posted in the iPod Touch forums.  It's where the iPod users hang out.

  • Brand new macbook pro - iTunes does not recognize multiple speakers, my older macs work correctly

New macbook pro with iTunes 10.5.2.  OS 10.7.2    Setting up iTunes.
    Two speakers on Airport devices.
Switch at bottom right shows all of the speakers above the line, and "multiple speakers" below the line.  The two speakers on the airport devices are #3 and #4 on the list above the line.  (i.e. ITunes is aware that these airport speakers exist).
I can click on single airport speakers above the line, and ITunes connects.
When I click on "multiple speakers", I get "computer" and the first listing which is a printer hooked up on an airport express link.  Also get the separate volume controls etc.  The third and fourth entries on the list (i.e. the airport speakers) are not displayed on the multiple speakers list.
So I can connect to one speaker at a time, e.g. the computer, or any other speaker, but I cannot connect to multiple speakers.
I have two other macs and have never had this problem with hooking up to the multiple speakers.
    Thanks for any help.

Same here - the problem is - it was working for a few days after I've upgraded iTunes to version 10, and then yesterday - I've rent the movie from Apple Store and once downloaded with iTunes - I wanted to transfer it to my ATV - however - my link to ATV suddently disappeared. What a piece of Crap. I can't describe my frustration - apple products aren't cheap and they always come with some kind of problem - what the **** is going on - it's not just the design people are looking for but also functional products.
Yesterday I've tried to turn of ATV, remove link from iTunes, start ATV make new connection to iTunes, start up iTunes - ATV shows up, code put in and at this stage I thought it finally works - but hey - forget it - I'm trying to put the purchased rental onto ATV and I get an alert saying that my firewall (which I have none) is stopping me from syncing. I then go to the support page which explains how to deal with it - but on some very old version of the system - my system (Snow Leopard) doesn't have those options any more. So as far I I'm concerned I'm screwed unless they fix the problem with their software.
If you guys know of any possible solution to this problem (and I did read many forum topics already - none of which works) - then please let me know.

  • I bought a new macbook pro but it doesn't want install os x mountain lion

I bought a new Macbook Pro but it doesn't want to install os x mountain lion.
I started the pc, filled in my language, chose "install os x mountain lion", it took a while, the pc restarted and asked the same things.
What am I doing wrong? I can not go to my desktop.
When the pc is restarted os x lion mountain is installed but i can't go to my desktop.

Either that or they failed to install an OS on it before shipping.
For a brand new Mac, I'd return it.
Here is the article on Recovery, which is what you are seeing:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
The hard drive should have a hidden partition which holds the standard Recovery HD. That is what you use to repair and reinstall. If that fails, or you have to replace the hard drive, you can use Internet Recovery which boots into Apple's servers.
You could try Using Disk Utility to see if you can Repair the disk while booted into Recovery, but it just all sounds like a future of bad things if it starts out this way.

  • New Macbook Pro: Need to Partition Hard Drive & Install Windows 7 - help!

My macbook crashed and I just got a new macbook pro (4GB). I run Fusion 3, but I need bootcamp for a program required for my law school exams. I have a full version of Vista and an upgrade for Windows 7 Home Premium.
Should I install Vista first in Bootcamp and then upgrade to Windows 7 or just skip Vista and install Windows 7 using the upgrade disc only?
If you could help or direct me to someplace that answers this question, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

    Hi,
I have not yet done this on my macbook pro, but I plan on doing it this way when I get an afternoon to myself. I would follow the link below. You can use the windows 7 upgrade disc to do a clean install. That way you don't have to worry about vista at all.
    http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/cleaninstall_upgrademedia.asp
That link will explain the proper way to do it and it is completely legal and it will satisfy Microsoft's license requirements providing you own the upgrade disc and the Vista disc as you described.

  • Just started my new Macbook Pro, from Time Machine backup and the password is not working

Just got home with my new mackbook pro, and going through the startup process I booted from a time machine back up of my 2007 macbook. When I got to the login part of the process, after the new macbook was registered and ready to go, and now my password is not recognized.

    Sorry about that.
I just got done posting back and forth with someone with a similar problem (not exact).
Turn the power off by holding down the power button, that is if just one push does not turn it off.
Then turn it back on and hold down the Option key. That will give you a startup screen where you can select which partition on the drive to boot into. Select the Recovery partition. From there you can use Disk Utility to wipe the Macintosh partition of the drive and then do a reinstall of the OS from the Apple website.
You need a internet connection to do this and depending on your internet speed it can take a few hours to complete. If you have a fairly fast internet connection it may still take 1-2 hours to download the 3.5+GB file to do the reinstall.
Before you go through all this try turning the system off and back on a few time to see if Lion can recover on it's own. I doubt it but it's worth a shot.
Again sorry for the condescending tone.
    Happy New Year.

  • Have new MacBook pro tried to install windows 7 failed cant get DVD out of drive

Tried to install windows 7 using boot camp message said can't install on any of the partitions can't get DVD out to restore eject button doesn't have any effect is there a key combination to eject dvd

First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • I just took my new MacBook Pro out of the box and the screen will not work. Display is, black no life to the screen at all

So I just ordered my first Mac book Pro. I took it out of the box and hit the power button to do the start up and the screen will not work at all. I shut the computer off and back on again. I plugged it in and unplugged it. I've done everything I can think of and the screen still stays blank with no life at all

Is the battery charged? Press the little button on the left edge, near the front. If no green dots, no charge.
Does it charge? When you connect the MagSafe charger, does the pilot light on the plug light up?
Does it actually start? Should sound a chime after you press the power button on the top/right corner. If it chimes, does the Caps Lock pilot light when you press it?
If it starts and Caps Lock does flash on and off, have you tried pressing the screen brightness control for awhile? F2 turns up the brightness, may be turned fully down.

  • Quieter Macbook Pro 13" 8,1 after fresh install of 10.8

After doing a clean install of 10.8 via the bootable USB way I have noticed some good changes; boot time and opening apps is a lot lot quicker, no delays from waking from sleep etc.
The one thing that surprises me the most is that the fan noise has dropped considerably, in fact I am hearing nothing spin at all when runnning most tasks.
The bottom casing is not getting as hot as it normally does either (which may explain why the fan has yet to start up and spin).
Prior to installing 10.8 I had the latest version of 10.7.x, and the fan would ALWAYS start up under certain tasks; running video converting apps and whenever I 'securely emtied the trash' (no matter how big or small the data) the fan would always spin on 'secure empty trash' and stop once the task was complete.
I tried searching threads on google to see if anyone else had similar effects to me after installing 10.8 but no luck, instead I saw a lot of comments from users that are having problems with fan noise being constant after 10.8 install.
Anyway basic question is to see if anyone else out there has noticed there fan being a LOT quiter after a clean install of 10.8, and if anyone knows whether something has changed in 10.8 to address this??
    Cheers!

  • New Macbook Pro user (left my Dell laptop world) cannot get printer working

Need some serious help, looks like my snazzy new purchase does not work with my Dell Color Laser Printer 3110cn. Apple tells me its not their problem, call Dell....well Dell says the driver they have does not work on Mac 10.5.2 or Leopard. What to do.
i hope someone has encountered this and found a work around....
    Help needed....Thanks

Follow up to my previous post--
If the Dell driver for your printer does not work at all, it would appear that you have a couple of choices. One is to use the Generic PostScript Printer driver as I mentioned before.
The other choice would be to use either the Generic PCL 6/XL pxlmono driver or the HP Color LaserJet 5000 pxlmono or similar driver. You can find installation instructions for the pxlmono drivers at _http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/pxlmono_
When I was looking at the Dell 3110cn driver for Mac OS X, however, at least the basic functions seemed to work. Did you actually try printing with the driver from the Dell web site?
It looks like the security filter and the printer extension plug-ins are what may be failing in OS X 10.5. I was able to set up a pseudo printer that prints its output to a file using the Dell 3110cn driver. I was able to produce a document that was valid PostScript. Preview was able to open the resulting PostScript file. Printing to file is not the same as actually getting the job printed on an actual Dell 3110cn printer. The PostScript file did contain extra PJL data (job features/choices). If these are not coded correctly, the print job could fail when going to a printer but seem to work fine when printed to file.

  • Buying a new MacBook Pro vs. buying something else and installing OSX on it.

I would like to know what are the pros and cons of each decision.

You can also buy a generic machine and change it to a OS X looking UI of Linux called MacBuntu, there is a lot of good free software, but not a lot of commercial software like Windows or OS X enjoys.
I use Macbuntu for my Atom netbooks, it does the job with a familiar UI for basic uses as Apple doesn't supply a netbook, only pricy iPads.
