New Maverick upgrade stops printers from printing

I gave up trying to get my LexMark X4690 after installing  the latest Maverick update and bought a HP Officejetpro 8600.  Same issue, it requires apple software  which I just cannot locate.  Any ideas would help.

So, a question: if a person has, in the modem on site, forwarded a non-standard public-facing port number to the printer's IP address as you are suggesting, and that person is now is off site, how does he specify the alternate port number in the off-site client's print&fax preferences when adding that printer? By merely appending a colon followed by alternate port number to the public hostname/IP?
I've often wondered how one could add a printer configuration in print&fax in a roamer computer, with alternate port number directed to "localhost" or remote 192.168.x.x printer IP such that it could be tunneled through ssh...

Fire Fox prints PDF Protected files. How do I stop this from happening and letting users steal my work?

Basically if an image is published it is likely to be copied one way or another. Maybe consider watermarking and or only providing low resolution copies of images in such pdf s.

  • What are your thoughts on the new Mavericks upgrade?

I currently have Snow Leopard - just upgraded to that in the not so recent pass because needed to do that in order to be able to view photos with my new Canon camera.  I did upgrade to the iTunes 11.0.1 when I saw the flashing popup list it as a software upgrade, even though all I use it for is to convert songs from Garage band to aiff files and to import podcasts from the internet.  Thought I would need it possibly in the future.  As long as it didn't mess me up with the above, I was okay with it.  However, I did not like having to relearn how to handle playlists.  As you can see I operate on what you probably would call an elementary, basic level and don't like things that would some how "mess up" what I have finally gotten used to.  Is Mavericks going to be like Windows upgraded OS systems which always seem to drop support for older software it previously supported?  I had hoped that going to Apple from Windows would save me from that for longer periods of time.
An additional problem I have just encountered is that suddenly I can no longer access my bank account online.  Was told that the possible reason for this was that Apple has not kept up with upgrading its security, and, therefore, the bank would not consider it safe anymore.  Thoughts??????  [I finally was able to work around this issue by downloading Firefox and using that successfully.]
    Would appreciate any comments.

  • How do I Stop Neighbors from Printing on our Printer (HP 3510)

We have a shared Wi-Fi network (on a college campus), and our neighbors (who speak little English) keep printing on our printer.
We assume this is a mistake, and they have a similar printer, so they are choosing the wrong printer.
How do we block them, or change our printer so it doesn't show up in their list of available printers?
I can't disable wireless printing, because then we won't be able to print from our laptops. I tried to find a way to "password protect" the printer, but I can't figure out how to do that.
We can't afford to keep letting them waste our ink, how do we stop this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The best approach to use in your situation is to use the wireless direct feature of your printer.
You can use the wireless direct funtion of your printer by turining on the wireless button on the front of the printer. This allows the printer to generate it's own wifi singal that you can connect to through any wireless device.
To find the wireless password, simply hold down the wireless direct button for more than 3 secs and it will print the password on plain paper (make sure paper is loaded). Make sure the wirless direct password protect feature is enabled - this way anybody trying to print to your printer will need to enter the wireless direct password.
I've included a link below to some information on wireless direct.

  • FF29 Linux, can not stop FF from printing coverpage although I changed the settings to no coverpage.

FF29.0.1 for Linux, prints unwanted cover pages to all print outs from Firefox.
The page contains nine lines of informative text such as Media Limits, Job ID, driver, driver version, description (of printer), driver version once more but instead of driver version it says my Printer Name, Make and Model, Printer (again) and finally Created at and Printed at. All this info is correct but as I see it exaggerated and UNWANTED and the settings can not be changed.
Here comes the real problem: Archive Menu/Print or ctrlP,presents to me a 5 tabbed settings page, amongst them "Job", (number 4 from left). To the left there is an option to add coverpages before or after. Have tried to change this behaviour to no one. But still I receive this extra page. This is something that has come with this version, I did not notice it in 27.0.1-1 or any earlier versions.
How do I stop this unwanted pages?

This is not a Firefox issue. This is about the settings of your printer software. If
you can't get the settings to do what you want, you should contact the printers
    support page / phone number.

  • How do I get bonjour to work to allow discovery of printers from print server

    Specs:
    print server is windows 7
windows users are able to access the the list of printers via \\s-printer-01\
    mac clients are using 10.8.3
we have been adding printers manually through ip and using generic post script drivers thus far.
    so far so good.
it has been passed down from on high that we need the macs to have the same level of simplicity-of-access as windows.
i have added bonjour for windows to the print server, but that proved to be of no use as nothing i did to it mattered, not even the wizard.
we have a range of computers, from prehistory to a newly bought bizhub c364CL with apple talk AND bonjour on (just to cover all bases)
there are two printers that pop up continuously that is claimed to be shared via Bonjour, and those are both HP 7200s.
what methods should i try next?

    Thank you Greg,
So based off of what you said, it is not possible to broadcast my printer servers via Bonjour with the Bonjour for Windows intstall?
In regards to SMB, i noticed that this brought up my domain computers that i presume are sharing (there are only a handful of computers that are shown and none of them are printers)  - do I have to autenticate and be bound to the domain first?
What are you currently running to allow access to the print servers aside from manual IP addition?
    thanks!

  • I stupidly signed up for a dumb application ... my bad ... now how do I stop it from printing?

I have the B210, and wish HP had put more effort into better design and printing function that useless stuff. Anyway, I signed up for an app not realizing that it would print whether I wanted it to or not. I deleted the app from the printer, and cannot find any means of stopping this waste of paper. How do I (a) completely eliminate apps from the printer so it never shows again; and (b) stop this thing I signed up to receive? Yeah, I'm dumb and angry. Thanks HP.

    Hi,
I assume you have signed up to a Scheduled Delivery App,
Cancel the subscription by logging the HP ePrint Center:
Always cancel your subscription before removing a scheduled delivery print app from your printer. Log onto ePrintCenter and select the print app for which you wish to cancel the subscription. Click on “Setup,” then “Update Settings,” then choose “Cancel scheduled delivery.” This will cancel your scheduled delivery.
Please let me know if that helps

  • Firmware upgrade stopped mail from sending emails

since i had the firmware upgrade Ive had problems sending email using the Mail programme.

Has anyone else had this problem and how have you fixed it.
Im a bit of an idiot when it comes to technical stuff so a for dummies explanation would go down really well.
    cheers

    sorry for the late reply
I can receive mail but no SMTP servers will send out mail and i have tried four different ones including my ISP's
I have also tried another mail package (thunderbird) and im getting the same problem.
I have been unable to send mail on my mac now for months.
Does anyone have any idea how i can rectify this - no changes have been made to my router settings so its not a firewall issue.

  • Logicboard replacement came with new serial that stops me from connecting w iMessage and FaceTime. Applecare ran out and now I am sure it is this issue... How can I get apple to honor the serial mess up?

The story is that I have an imac i7 that was still under Applecare when the logicboard coraked.
I brought it in for repair and got it back. Somehow imessage and facetime would never connect anymore and come up with connection errors yet everything else worked. I tried all tens or hundreds of suggestions over hte last few months and nothing worked.
So I resorted to a clean hard drive repartitioning and install of Mountain Lion.
To my surprise: it sill did not work.
That;s when I found an obscure post that I am quite certain is the problem: the poster had the exact some symptoms I had and NOTHING worked. Hrs of phone support etc. Until it dawned on him that he had a logic board replacement after which the issue occurred. He found that his serial was no longer the same as the original item and came up as invalid on the apple website and was not listed in the "About" of his iMac.
I immediately recognized the recent support symptom and motherboard replacement and checked the rest. And behold it is all exactly as he said. He had to bring it back to the service center and they put the original serial back in and everything worked again.
Here is my problem: months of troubleshooting have passed and my iMac went out of Applecare warranty. Support does not warrant an exception for the serial online and the service center wants to get paid    I am not wealthy. This computer is my life and I need them to change the serial back to what it was when I purchased the machine. Can someone suggest how I get help. Apple is acting like M-soft in this respect.

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Color Printing issue on Canon MP600 Printer and Mavericks upgrade

I realize that some people have been having problems scanning with the new upgrade on their printer, however, I am have trouble printing in color with the new Mavericks upgrade. Black and white is fine, but if there is any logo or color fonts, they are distorted. How do I go about fixing this?

I too was having the same issue where I was unable to print in color on my MP600 with Mavericks. It printed incorrect font, colors and distorted the size and placement on page .  I followed the above instructions to download the MP600R via the Canon UK website and it has solved my problem.
If anyone is as computer illiterate as I seem to be: After downloading the MP600R driver and installing it, I went to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners> delete the printer currently listed>add a new printer and select the MP600R from the list of software to choose.
I have yet to delete any software/driver files related to the old printer, so I was able to correct the problem simply by downloading the new driver, deleting the current printer, and adding a "new" printer selecting the MP600R.
So happy it is now resolved as this has been driving me crazy for months!

  • How can we stop iPrint from pushing out printers?

Is there a global way to stop iPrint Client Management from pushing out printers? Or, is there a way to report on all group objects that have a printer assignment? We are trying to stop printers from being pushed, but we have 100+ group assignments, as well as some printers that are specifically assigned to users. Trying to find them all and then change them all is going to be a difficult task. We're hoping there's a setting in the Driver Store or Print Manager that we missed.
    Thanks,

  • How to stop Officejet 6210xi from printing logs

We inherited an officejet 6210xi. (No manual.) It is being used standalone as a fax. It now prints a log for each and every fax. This is a huge waste of paper, so how do we stop it from printing a log every time? Thanks.

    Hi,
May be it is the alignment page. Please perform aligning the printer once as per the steps below and check if helps.
Follow these steps to open the printer toolbox and align the printer, if you found defects on the print quality diagnostic report.
    1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
    2. Open HP Solution Center:
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Under Print Settings , click Printer Toolbox . The printer Toolbox opens in a new window.
    5. Click the Device Services tab.
    6. Click Align the Printheads .
The product aligns the printheads. When the alignment is complete, the product prints an alignment page.
After the successful alignment, restart the printer and check.

  • How to stop my 4yr-old from printing...

    Hi there,
My 4yr old son, loves our Mac's. I setup his own profile that he logs into with his own password, etc. I've locked down his profile so he can't mess anything up, but I can't seem to stop him from printing. How can I disable all printing just for him? He mainly does it in Safari as that's the only app he has to run.
    Thanks

When it asked for the Name, I didn't know what to enter, so I entered what I thought was his ID, but can still print.
For the 'Set Allowed Users' page, you need to enter the short name in the 'Users:' column. You can then check the 'Prevent these users from printing' button and then press the 'Set Allowed Users' button.
You will then be prompted to enter the administrator user name and password for the changes to stick. This is most likely your account details. You can check the System Preferences > Accounts pane to check who is set as Admin.
You can then log out as the admin user and log in with the child's account. Now you should find that the selected printer is not present in their printers list.
