New photos in iPhoto 9.5.1 albums no longer sync into synced albums on OS8 devices.

iPhoto 9.5.1
iOS 8.0.2
Mac Mavericks 10.9.5
Using iTunes, when I sync my selected iPhoto albums (on the Mac) to my iPhone and iPad, new photos added to those albums on my Mac are no longer added to the albums on those devices, but rather are orphaned as loose photos. Or, if they ARE added, it's only through half a dozen trial-and-error tricks I've tried. I never know for sure what trick is working, so I have to ask if there's an easier, dependable way to get albums or folders from my Mac to sync into what's on my devices. I don't want every single photo I have on my Mac on those devices. JUST selected, categorized photo albums so that I can show off categories of my paintings and sculptures to clients.
If iPhoto is being phased out, what's the easier option for creating albums in my "photos" app on my devices and moving those photos from my Mac to the albums?

Use the rebuild function in iPhoto Library Manager. That does not require a purchase. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Trying to sync new photos from iphoto without having the old photo synced on ipad2 but when I select sync from iphoto the old photos are already included. How do I stop itunes from preselecting photos? Already tried selecting "selected albums, events, and faces, and automatically include" then I enter "no Events" with no success the photos still are being synced along with the new photos. I want to be able to add new photo and remove old photos. Please help this has taken a lot of my time trying to figure it out.

If I knew the answer I would have given it - but since it is not an iPhoto question I suggested
You might try the iPad forum - or the iTunes forum - this really is not an iPhoto question

  • Imovie will not show new photos from iphoto?

The imovie project I'm working on needs several photos that I recently downloaded.  However when going into the photo section of imovie these new photos do not appear in the album that they have been placed in.
Is there anyway to get them to appear?
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
It's a while since i used v5 but I think this is true.
Whereas with early version of iPhoto there was a separate folder for each album, starting at v5 the app doesn;t do that. Instead the album information is stored as part of the main database file. At heart, it's a direction to the app to display certain pics together. The advantage being that a single pics can be many, many albums with no wasted disk space.

  • How do I move photos in iphoto for ipad from album to album ?

how do i move photos in iPhoto for iPad from album to album ?

If you want to move a photo, then you need to use a PC or a Mac. In iPad, you can copy, but this is just a link to the original. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while...but it looks like it needs another photo program to do it.

If you are seeing your photos in "Last Import", the photos are somewhere in your library. Perhaps the dates are wrong, and you do not see the photos arranged by date, where you expect them to be.
Select one of the photos on "Last Import", then ctrl-click it and select "Show in Event".  That will take you to the event in event view.

  • How to sort and organise albums in the new photos like iPhoto?

I want to view my albums on Photos by listing them from up to down like in iPhoto events. And when I click the title the album will pop down open. I can also simply drag photos from other album to another album easily. I don't want the albums to be in thumbnails view. How do I do that?

Reveal the sidebar:  The sidebar lists your albums as a list by name.
To show the Sidebar use the command:
    View: Show Sidebar  ⌥⌘S
With the sidebar open you can click an album to reveal the photos and drag them to another album in the sidebar.
And in iPhoto, when I connect my iPhone to Mac and open iPhoto, the latests photos will automatically load on iPhoto. Is it possible to make them load automatically in Photos too?
Connect your iPhone, launch Photos, click the icon of your iPhone in the "Import" section of the sidebar.  You will see a checkmark "Open Photos for this device". Enable it.

  • I am unable to import new photos in iPhoto 11. Perhaps I should just reinstall from iLife disk? Will it affect my photos in any way?

    Hello,
I have iPhoto 11 installed on my MacBook. I am now unable to import new photos using USB or by plugging the camera directly into the laptop. Never had that probem before with this camera. Perhaps just reinstall iPhoto from the iLife disk?

    Hello Terence,
Okay I will try reformating the camera's card. However all is well when I export photos to my iMac at home or onto my iPad.
If your suggestion does not work should I try reinstalling iPhoto from the iLife disk? If so, how do I go about doing that or is there a website somewhere explaining this?

  • Disk Repair after new photos in iPhoto?

I recently noticed that sometimes (once every 2-3 months) the disk repair (in disk utility) I have to perform is associated to new photos importation in iPhoto.
This usually happen when I have to import big photo volumes.
For example, today I had to import almost 1000 photos and during scan disk I had about 10 error about incorrect blocks associates to photos. I crosscheck those photos and they were ok. I did disk repair with CMD-R after during restart. Everything was performed correctly and now no error anymore.
Is there any special thing  have to worry about since this often happens in association with iPhoto?

There is something awry there but no idea what. I frequently deal in larger batches of images and have performed disk repairs about 5 times in owning Mac for more than 20 years. Whatever issue you're having is not to do with iPhoto. I'd ask on the forum for your particulate Mac why you're repairing the disk so often.

  • I cannot download new photos to iPhoto because I have only limited space left in iPhoto. That is the message each time when I want to download.

After I transferred most of my photos and videos to an external hard drive and afterward to the trash can, that I have emtied, I still get the same message from iPhoto that I have only limites space left. What should I do? I read that  the photos are being stored still on the computer's hard drive ( I have never used Time Machine) but I cannot find them? I would like to know where they are being stored so I  could delete them. I would appreciate your comments on this issue.

How big is your HD? How much free space on it?
You delete photos from iPhoto via the iPhoto Window.

  • IPhoto has no photo in iPhoto library nor another album....empty folders...

I don't know why what used to be working fine and now iPhoto library contains folder with no photo?!
Would it be because I move the iPhoto library to my user/home folder?
I have been shooting Raw and load into Bridge and save to album folder in iPhoto library in my home folder. I am also seeing Abobe Bridge cache bc. and bct. files populated every where. It just so confusing.
Now, just want to set iPhoto right first. How can I get photo back in iPhoto library?
I have used Diskwarrior and apple disk utility to try to fox it but no help.
    Help!

    vchen:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. In moving that original iPhoto Library folder iPhoto could not find it the next time it was launched and created a new one. So launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, choose the Find option. Then navigate to the location of your original iPhoto folder and select it. Once you're back up and running with it you can delete the library folder that is in your Pictures folder. It will be the empty one.

  • How do I export photos from iPhoto to Picasa web albums?

I have my photos stored on iPhoto, but can no longer export them to my Picasa (Google+) web albums.
Apple have removed the upload option to Picasa from within iPhoto, and Google's uploader software most online forums talk about is no longer available, so I'm stuck!
    Many thanks!

You can export from iPhoto to the FInder and upload from there.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
BTW: Apple removed nothing. They updated their application to 64 bit and Google haven't bothered to update their plug-in in years. Why they haven't is something you'll need to ask them.

  • Imported new photos to iPhoto - can I now delete the old folders?

I just finished importing a bunch of photos from folders on my Mac into iPhoto. Can I now delete those folders?

As long as you have iPhoto setup to copy photos into the library (a managed library) when imported
    you can delete the folders.

  • Hate new photos- original iPhoto blocked in applications.

It seems that if you have an older mac you will be able to simply open the original iPhotos in the applications folder. However, my October 2014 macbook pro came with Yosemite loaded. I tried opening and received this message: "The version of iPhoto (9.6) installed on this Mac is not compatible with OS X Yosemite. Download the latest version for free from the Mac App Store."
Of course it came with this version and now it is no longer available from the store. Any suggestions as to how to revert back? Thank you.
