New RAM for my P67-GD65 B3

I can't decide, plz help me Which 2x4GB RAM to buy?
1. Geil PC3-14000 1750MHz C9 Enhance PLUS (DDR3 1750MHz, 9-9-9-28, 1.5V)
2. G.Skill F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO (DDR3-1600MHz, 8-8-8-24-2N, 1.35V)
I will try to get 1333MHz with lower timings and I would rather stay bellow 1,5V. G.Skill looks better on paper but much pricey in shop.
My system:
- Intel 2500K@4500 (1,35 idle->1,4V stress)
- P67-GD65 B3
- now I have 2x2 Corsair 1600 8-8-8-24-1T 1,65V
- ATI HD4890
- Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB Sata II
- SoundBlaster X-Fi Gamer PCI
- Windows 7 HP 64bit SP1
- Ante True Power Trio 650W, 52A on 12V.

What is wrong with the Corsair? Those have 1333 9 9 9 24 @ 1.50v. SPD profile don't they? Have you actually tried lowering the DRAM V. to them at 1333? Tried tightening the timings?
Yes! I can try of course but... I borrowed Corsairs from TR3X6G triple channel kit. I have to buy a whole new kit, so I wanna go with 2x4GB and not 4x2GB. I am almost sure that sooner or later I will try to add additional 2x4GB. My problem for now is that I can not find reviews with low voltage, tighter timings ram kits. Means: made for SB cpu.
Sadly, no one mentioning those Geils :/
When I see Geil spec: 1750MHz, 9-9-9-28 on 1,5V I can only speculate what timings I get on 1333MHz.
I wish getting 1333 with low voltage (1,5) and low timings (7-7-7-20). Like we all Impossible? Maybe.
G.Skills ECO are even closer to this with: DDR3-1600MHz, 8-8-8-24-2N, 1.35V.
Sorry to say I am starting to quoting myself. I am too old for this  but...
Those mems do not look like ram: 1600MHz 8-8-8-24, 1,65V and then we have a "wonderful" 1333, 1,5 , 9-9-9-24 spd timing!
You know what I mean... Corsairs above will not run 1600MHz on 1,5V. I can test what timings I get when 1,5V on 1333MHz.
Well, maybe I am a bit too optimistic and somebody should try to help me getting back on planet Earth, hehehehe.
BTW1: Crucial 2x4GB kit not available in Poland :/ and those 2x2GB are all 1,65V.
BTW2: Did I mention that I need rather low profile kit? Ouch. My heatsink lays above ram slots. Corsair CMX/TR3X size is ok.
BTW: Thank You all for answers. Thank You very much

  • Help buying new RAM for my MBP

    Hi there guys!
I have this mid 2010 mpb 15", osx lion, and I think it's getting slower everyday.
Now I decided to switch the RAMS an Im looking forward to leave it with 8gb, as that slow boot is driving me crazy, especially and Ive already tried all the cleaning stuff.
So, do I have to use the slower RAM suggested by apple (PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz type RAM) or I could go on an install this one (PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz type RAM), which is the default for the newer 2012 mpbs?

I agree with ComputerFixer. Use the correct spec RAM for your machine, otherwise there is a very good chance it will not boot.

  • New Ram for my Imac doesn't seem to increase speed!

I just upgraded my Imac from 1 gig ram to 4 gig ram. I ordered the ram from Crucial. I took out the 1 gig of ram and installed the 4 gigs of new ram, and booted the computer back up. It now says that I have 4 gig of ram, however, I do not notice a noticeable improvement in speed. How can I make sure I don't have a defective module? Is there any thing else I need to do when installing new ram?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not sure I totally agree with these responses, but I am admittedly no expert. I too increase my RAM from 1 gig to 2.5. I did this because I noticed a general sluggishness after installing Leopard. I figured the latest OS was hogging up some RAM, so I increased the RAM. I see no appreciable difference fter installing the extra 1.5 gigs. In the past, I have upgraded RAM on my many Macs and have always noticed a difference in the response time in Safari and other apps. What am I missing this time? If RAM won't do it, then what will? It seems absurd to me that a two year old iMac with 2.5 gigs of RAM should be sluggish.

  • New RAM for MSI H67MA-E35(B3)

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a new pair of RAM for my MSI H67MA-E35(B3) motherboard as the GSkill Ripjaws X which I was using since 2012 finally gave up on me recently (and the GSkill service sucks in my country). I am looking forward to buy a new pair of Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB RAMs for my MoBo. Hence I'd like to know if there will be any issues in terms of compatibility and stability with my current config? If there are going to be any such issues, would you please recommend me a good pair of RAMs to get my system running again. My priorities are Reliability and Stability with good service backup.
An early response will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Use Corsair ram. A Vengeance or Vengeance Pro kit will fit your needs. An 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 kit would be fine. e.g.: CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8

  • New PSU for MSI P67S-C43 (B3) with new graphics card.

    Good morning!
I'm in the market for a new PSU for my system (specs in signature). I think the current PSU I have would be sufficient for the graphics card I'm looking at getting,  GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ (EVGA 04G-P4-3687-KR), however, I'd like to go modular. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!
    like_a_god

A GTX680 system pulls less exactly same power like the same system with GTX260 (both 38A minimum without oc). So in terms of power there is no need for psu upgrade as the TX650 could handle a GTX680 with ease. Considering an oc card it might be 40A required minimum.
None the less this is a MSI forum so next time please don't ask for psu upgrades for an EVGA card. Better get an MSI card instead like N680GTX Lightning or N680GTX Twin Frozr 4GD5/OC (if you need 4GB).
If you want to upgarde the psu just because of it being modular then go for an 850w psu to have a noticeable power upgrade also. The HX850 is then the better choice. If you want a fully modular unit it would take AX850 instead.

  • New ram not showing up in MacPro 1,1

I bought new ram for an old MacPro 1,1 and only the old ram shows up. I know the new ram works as I can start my computer with each individual stick but they wont work together. Any idea? I can move my old 512chips to any slot and it works so I’ve ruled out bad slots. The new ram chips work but only one shows up. I have switched them out too and both work so Ihave know idea what’s going on. Hope someone can help.
    Thanks in advance.

Brand A and B not working together or even same but from different batches, can happen.
Each SET will work fine, you can't do "individually".
I've seen people use A1:B1 and A3:B3 which is not supported, yet has worked.
Or all RAM on top Riser.
As far as I know the Risers are interchangeable, there is no "A" and "B" other than "top" and "bottom" and some have had to do an advance exchange and get a new Riser sent out under AppleCare.
Get out your OEM 10.4.7 discs and one of them has Apple Hardware Test, use "command-D" with the DVD in the tray.
No, you don't need a battery.
It just sounds like a defective set. You bought OWC, Crucial, Kingston, Mac Pro certified (and large RAM heatsinks) then just contact seller and have them send them back as DOA.

  • New ram crashes fcp

I just purchased new ram for the second day in a row. I bought four 1 gig ram sticks for my g5 power pc mac. I have a total of 6 gigs. I had previously had two gigs, 4 512 ram sticks.
Under about this mac, my new ram is reongized and other programs recongized the new ram (after effects).
I opened up FCP (5.0.4) project and fcp crashes everytime. I looked up my ram, and it is compatiable with my system. Crucial. i have the ram stickes in the proper slots.
    http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=1D1DFB01A5CA7304
The project I opened in fcp was done befrore the new ram (2 gigs) was installed. Can that be the issue, or is the ram I purchased not compatiable with FCP. At first FCP would crash after opening it, now it takes a few minutes before crashing. Would Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM help? Any tips and insight on installing and ram (ram suggestion) would also help.
Thankyou for taking your time and any suggestions will be helpfull and appericated.

I get our memory from Data Memory Systems in NH.
www.datamem.com not sure what the brand name is...
    My machine has 4 slots.
    DIMM0/J11 512Mb (Pre-installed)
    DIMM1/J12 512Mb (Pre-installed)
    DIMM2/J13 Empty
    DIMM3/J14 Empty
I put a 512Mb chip in J13 & J14... The computer recognizes it, feels fresh and snappy, but without fail, it will crash after a short period of time forcing a 'hard' shutdown with the power button.

  • Where to get cheaper ram for my ibook g3?

    Hello,
is apple the only place where I can get new ram for my ibook g3? Checked their store, 512 ram costs 150 usd. That is expensive enough.
    Thanks in advance.
imac g5 (isight) 20", ibook G3 (white)   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   airport extreme base station

Check out RAMSeeker.com. They will compare different RAM vendors' prices to help you get the best price.
Be sure to buy from a firm that gives you a lifetime warranty on the RAM you buy. While RAM doesn't fail very often, it can happen. Enough vendors give a lifetime warranty that you should not settle for one that doesn't. I would recommend paying a few dollars more if necessary to get the lifetime warranty.

  • How do you evaluate RAM for quality?

I am ready to buy my new RAM for my PM G5, but was shocked at the cost of it from Apple. How do I properly evaluate it for quality?
    Crucial (a company generally well regarded) offers a 1GB kit (2 X 512) for $99.
    http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=CT2KIT6464Z40B
Apple offers the same for $200.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nclm=3F F74859
    Both offer comparable guarantees.
What could make the Apple memory worth twice the cost? Is it silly to spend that much extra money when a decent company (Crucial) is selling it at 1/2 price?
Thank you very much for your feedback.
    Dual 2Ghz G5, ATI Radeon 9800Pro, 23" HD Display Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi,
I am using several Macs (my own, starting from G3, G4, G5 and 2x iBooks) from a few years. I bought any additional RAM or Hard Disk from Apple. Why? I don't see any sense of buying those parts, because Apple doesn't manufacture them, in fact. So, I will not overpay.
For example, for my iBook I bought 512 MB RAM in a ordinary PC's shop. What's more! - in a part settlement I gave them back the mine 128 MB which I unmount from my iBook. So, I payed really small amount.
In my present G5, I have Kingston's 2x1 GB, and PQi 2x1 GB, which I bought in a company who sells Mac's and many other equipment and parts not only for Mac's. I bought them not in the same time, but everytime paying less than in Apple. Everything work fine, so iBook too.
Now I am thinking about adding to my G5 2x2 GB RAM more up to 8.5 GB.
I found in OWC really good price 435USD for 4GB and 209USD for 2x1GB plus shipping costs about 45 USD (to my country-Poland).
For me this is very attractive price, because in my country I would have to pay a lot more - 332 USD for 2x1 GB and 550 USD for 2x2GB (even not in Apple Store).
So, here is the conclusion - I am not rying to tell you that it is stupid to pay more than 2 times more - its your money and you can pay as much as you want, but with Hard Disks and RAM I think it has no sense.
    Marek.

  • New RAM causes crash problems

    Hello Everybody,
have some problems with new RAM for my G5. With the original 4 x 256 RAM everything's going fine, but as soon as I correctly stick in the new 2 x 1 GB (Mac Dealer bought), my mac's going crazy (crashes or not being able to install and so on...) Changed the new RAM allready at my Mac Dealer, things remain the same. Does anybody have an idea?

Have you made sure the RAM is properly seated?
If it is, contact the Mac dealer and inform them they have a bad batch of RAM.

  • RAM for 990FXA-GD80 + FX-8350 ??

im looking to buy new ram for my system and i found this kit very interesting

im confused because a heard about known issues in overclocking ram with this mobo especially when i have to do it in order to get faster ram
so plz what do propose ?

im confused because a heard about known issues in overclocking ram
There aren't such known issues with that board. Your ram overclocking results depend on the cpu's ram controller. Not all will make 2133 as that is oc and oc is a matter of luck and the individual sample. To incerase your chances go for ddr3 oc lits only needing 1.5v for 2133 and not already 1.6v like the kit you found. Corsair is always a good idea like this one: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233245

  • New ram not staying in place

I have purchased new ram for my mid 2010 macbook pro. 2 4gb sticks. the bottom slot accepts the first stick just fine. but the top slot will not. I have tried switching the new sticks position and it doesn't hold in place in the top slot. when placing the old memory in that top slot there is no problem. The new memory will just not stay down in the top memory slot. If you have any experience w/ this please let me know. thx

When inserting the new RAM chip, will the top bay not stay in place or is the RAM not recognized?
If the former, are you certain that the new RAM is properly seated?  Sometimes more pressure is necessary with new RAM.
If the latter, a trip to an Apple store may be the best option.  There may be a mechanical adjustment that may have to be made.
    Ciao.

  • Problems with new RAM

I bought new ram for my macbook Unibody (7.1) to update from 2gb (2x1Gb) to 4gb (2x2Gb). I replaced the old ram to the new ones, but when I turn the computer on it produces five beeps and continues doing that until I turn it off. But when I put one 1gb old ram in one slot and in the other slot a 2gb new ram it works perfectly and it says that I have 3gb (that means that the computer also recognized the new ram).
The new ram came from a mac mini, and they are 1333mhrz while the old ones are 1066mhrz, but I heard that when the ram admits more speed than the slot speed they can be used with te speed from the computer (if my macbook has 1066mhrz slots, then, the 1333mhrz ram will work at 1066).
    Can you help me?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and do not speak for "Apple Inc."
Macs are notoriously 'picky' about RAM memory timing!
Although what you suggest about RAM timing might work in SOME computers, your Mac obviously does not work with the 'faster' RAM inserted in both memory slots, hence the black screen and 5 beeps.
Indeed, some sellers label faster RAM with a slower spec, and indeed some computers don't have a problem with that, but it is not true in this case.
    You have several options:
    1. Go back to the original 2x1GB RAM modules.
    2. Use one of the 2GB with an original 1GB module for a 3GB configuration. It's still a 50% increase in available RAM for your system from 2GB. If you start getting frequent Kernel Panics, that is an indication that the faster 2GB RAM just won't work in your system.
    3. Purchase two of the correct RAM modules with the proper specs. Your Unibody can hold 8GB or even 16GB if you're running OS X 10.7 or newer: http://blog.macsales.com/16302-some-2010-mac-owners-can-get-more-ram-than-they-t hought
Crucial.com and OtherWorldComputing (www.macsales.com) are two reliable sources for Apple RAM upgrades, guaranteed to work properly.

  • New RAM problems?

    Hello.
I recently purchased new RAM for my Apple. Since then, my laptop has been freezing up, not responding, and having problems with Safari. I put in the old RAM just to post this topic. Now things are fine!??? I don't understand.? Is this a problem with the chips (512 MB SYNC PC133 SODIMM). I have read that it might be the way I installed the sticks.
I have had to reboot my laptop 5 times an hour before I removed the new sticks and put the old ones back in.
Next... just how much damage have I just done to my Apple?
I installed Tiger last weekend. I have also had some problems with Apps. since then. I really don't understand.
Thanks for your concerns and help.
    Scared....
    Reilly

    Hi REILLY the NEW GUY,
Sounds like you got a bad stick of ram. Check back where you purchased it and tell them of your problems. They (if reputable) should replace it with ram that is compatible with what you need.
