Ipod will not update new songs from itunes

My ipod will not update new songs from itunes. I've purchased several songs from the music store, updated my playlists and as added some from my CD collection and they are not transfering from my library to my ipod.
I've tried numerous configurations under the preferences - ipod menue but still can't get them to transfer.
One error I occasionally get is "ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the itunes music library"
There is plenty of room on my ipod so I can't figure out why. It almost seems as if it is trying to copy all of my songs not just the new ones because all songs in my librbary are checked.

Doesn't it have to be on either manual or auto update? What other option is there?
I will try downloading latest updates.
I know it will work if I reset it (have done it a few times already). I just hate having to restore factory settings everytime I want to put a new song onthe ipod.

Do the problem songs play in iTunes on the computer?
Is Settings>iTunes and App Store signed into the account that purchased them?
Can yo redownlod them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Do they show up in the Purchased list?
Do you have any Restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) set that would prevent syncing/loading those songs?

There seems to be a billing problem with the iTS. I've been trying to make purchases today (Dec 9th) too and it reports either the iTS can not process payments or it says my card was declined. I even changed the payment method to Paypal (which is never declined) and still no go.
I don't think it is "you" but a problem at Apple. Some popular new apps were released recently like Logic Pro and perhaps they're getting bombarded as they did when Lion was released.

It should do so automatically, if not check it's staus this way.
In iTunes press "Command J" or select "View Options," under the view menu. In the popup window check iCloud Status. It will now appear as one of the columns in your main iTunes window.
This column will show which of your songs are matched, uploaded, ineligible, etc.
When you navigate to the song you downloaded you will see it's iCloud status.
If the status says, "waiting," and you want it available on Match now, then in the iTunes "Store," menubar pulldown, select "Update iTunes Match."
It will scan your drive, and update all status'.
You will not have to upload everything again.
Even if in iTunes you turn Match off, and back on again.
Match remembers you!

Two new songs from itunes store. 1 syncs, 1 doesn't

I purchased two new songs from the ITunes store from Nellie McKay. One song syncs with both my IPod Touch and IPod Nano just fine. The other will not. 'Bodega' syncs just fine while 'Do Do Do' refuses to sync (although I can play it from ITunes on the pc). I even tried removing from my itunes library and re-adding and it refuses to sync with my either of my IPods. Please advise.

I don't know why it's doing that. Is there any message from itunes about not being able to sync it?
You could convert it to MP3 format and see if that will sync.
If it does, report it to itunes support.

I just downloaded a new cd from itunes, the boxes are checked but the cd does not sync to my ipod. I tried to do a manual sync & got a message that "you are not authorized to play them on this computer"

I too experiencing same problem - only since updating to latest version of iTunes. The only solution so far I've found is to sync iPod again - they play, but once iPod turned off for a while problem is there again. Has anyone got any solutions of a more permanent kind!?
I've decided not to waste any more cash buying music until I solve this - as I also have a problem burning CDs (computer freezes), importing CDs (computer freezes).

Adding only "new" songs from itunes onto ipod

ok this is tricky to explain but all my songs have been wiped off itunes but i stil have them on my ipod as i haven't plugged it into my computer giving it the chance to "update" and as a result wipe all the songs off my ipod in the process. is there any way that you can update ur ipod but set it to only add to ur music library instead of updating it with what music u have in ur itunes library if u get what i mean? i don't want to lose all the songs on my iPod and but updating it in ITunes i believe i will! please help!

There's no way to sync your iPod and only have it add new songs without deleting the ones that are no longer in iTunes. However, you can change your iPod to manual update and add the new songs without affecting what's currently there. If your iPod is set to update automatically, you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. I wanted to put a downloaded song onto itunes, so I double clicked the song and it appeared on my itunes list. How do I get this song from the itunes list to my iphone4? Do I have to check off all the songs I already have from the list. or do I just check the recently added song from the itunes list? Then what do I do? Do I just click on sync? Thanks!

Same here. I use an old flip phone, and send texts from my desktop computer many times a day. Texts from my computer never show up on my phone. Now, however, it is almost impossible to text from my computer using either Firefox or Internet Explorer. When I click "Send a Message", the screen usually freezes and never fully loads the texting webpage. If I am lucky enough to see it load and see all the texts I've sent, sending a new one is extremely slow, or causes the page to freeze completely. Verizon, I've had your service forever, and would never "cheat" on you. But still, PLEASE bring our ability to send texts from our computers into the 21st Century.

IPod Not Recieveing new songs from iTunes. .

After something going wrong with my computer and random files being deleted (iTunes being one of them) I had to reinstall and update iTunes. I had made sure to keep all the music I've ever had on it in a folder and when I dragged the music of about 1000 songs, only about 600 would go into iTunes. I wasn't sure why, but I only needed songs to go to my iPod so I got some songs off a burned CD and bought a few more off iTunes to find out that when I sync, it doesn't go onto my iPod. After trying to sync multiple times and my iPod acting as if it were syncing, but not having the new songs on it, i dont know what to do. Please help!!! thank you

Remove all purchase songs from your iPod.
In iTunes, go to the Store menu and Deauthorize your computer. Now play one of the songs that would not load on your iPod. When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password. Now resync your music.

If you manually manage photo storage, create a parent folder which will contain the named folders of photos that you want transferred to your iPad only. I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)
