New T5i with a video problem

I received a new Canon T5i in the mail last week from Ritz Camera.  At first everything seemed splendid; this was an upgrade for me from an old XTi and I've been practicing with this camera so that I can cover next week's NASA launch with it. 
This morning while shooting video a problem suddenly appeared out of nowhere.  Right in the middle of recording a video the video screen turned solid purple and began flashing.  I stopped the recording shortly thereafter but the screen continued showing this problem until I took the camera off of movie mode.  At that point I started up the live view mode and everything was fine.  I returned to movie mode and everything seemed to be returned to normal, but the problem resembled sensor failures I have seen with other cameras in the past. 
This greatly concerns me since I am supposed to cover the launch of the Orion capsule next week as an invitee to NASA's social media event.  The last thing I need is for the problem to re-appear right in the middle of the launch.  I do not know why this happened, what it means, or how to prevent it in the future.  The camera has not been dropped or received any damage that I am aware of.  It was shipped to me and appeared to be in good condition when it arrived but now I'm concerned that something may have happened in shipping to cause a loose connection or intermittent problem with the sensor.  Does anyone here have any experience with this kind of failure and is there any fix for it?  Here is a link to the video containing the problem.  I re-compressed it but otherwise it is completely unaltered:

Welcome to the Canon Forum.
I looked at the sample video you posted and that is definitely not normal.  It may be the image sensor, but it may also be something wrong with how the camera was recording the video to the memory card.  I would try another card to see if that does not help.  If the issue persists, the camera will need to be repaired.

    Im not sure that the creative people will honor my warranty, and I was wondering how much would it cost to have the jack problem fixed? It should be a recall, but I suppose that wont happen.

    I have been using this wireless router for a while works great. I got my wife a new laptop with vista can conect with limited conectivity (excelent signal). Can not use any online programs. How do i fix this problem?

    if u have an securtiy enabled conection, when u r trying to connect on vista laptop, plz type the correct n/w key.if there is any confusion oen setup page and chck the ifo from there.
    if this doesn't work, u mght have to upgrade f/w of WRT54GS from www.linksys.com as win vista sometimes requires the latest f/e and drivers to connect properly

  • New email with selection Services problem

    When I select text and choose "New email with selection" under Services, at least half the time, a new Mail message window opens, blank.  Then, that blank Message window stays open, can't be closed, and the only way I can get out of it is to Force Quit Mail.  I had (and often reported) this same problem under previous OS X versions, and have been hoping that it would be fixed in Yosemite, but not yet!

    Standard Apple Mail. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1, and I'm amazed to see that About Mail says it's Mail Version 8.1 (1993), copyright 1995-2014 Apple Inc. 
    Interesting thought, do you think that it doesn't like to work with itself?  Actually, I'm fairly sure I've had the problem inside of other apps but I should document that.  I'll keep notes to see where this happens. 

  • New Mac Mini with Lion Video Problem With Dell E228WFP monitor

    Just purchased a new mini Mac 2.3 with Lion pre installed.  I connected to my old Dell E228WFPI monitor via the Mini Display to VGA adapter.  The mini mac worked fine for an hour until I put it to sleep.  It would not rewake.  After rebute the gray screen and apple logo appear with clock, but after clock screen to black and monitor goes to power saver mode.  Took unit to apple store twice and could not resolve problem by changing resolution or other methiods.  Finally, we learned that the system works fine using Belkin HDMI to DVI cable.  This Dell Monitor had DVI connector.  Hope this helps...

    How can a computer that's been turned off (and I mean completely OFF) get a network request? Only a sleeping computer should react to such a request. If you're sure you shut down (Apple Menu, Shut Down), then only an internal power supply or logic board problem should cause this. The only way it could be software is if Lion is not shutting down the computer but is instead putting it to sleep. Is it a new Mac Mini? If so, you should have it replaced or repaired.

    The problem is when I test it on my computer it works but when I upload it to my phone it freezes when I click Sets Anteriores button.

    My first guess is you're simply generating an error. You'll always want to load this on your device in quick debugging over USB so you can see any errors you're generating.
    Outside that, if you plan on accessing anything inside the SWF you should be loading the SWF into the correct context. Relevant sample code:

    If you're doing this on iOS you'll need to stripped SWFs if you plan on using any coding (ABC) inside the files. You mentioned iOS so I won't get into that here, but just incase, here's info on stripping external SWFs:

  • First time Mac User with a video problem

    Hi. First of all I am a brand new Mac user. I am having problems watching videos. It constantly plays for a second or two, possibly a minute and then stalls....I wait....it picks back up, plays for a second or two longer and repeats the process, so basically it is a very bad viewing experience all around doing this. I have all the software updates. I am a former pc user so trying to adjust to the Mac. I don't know where to begin on fixing this so if someone has any insight or could help it would be great.
    I have also noticed it is doing the same start-stop activity when trying to listen to a 30 second music clip in itunes....start, stop, start, stop. So you never get a continuos listen to those clips or watching any video. Very annoying and there has to be a way to fix this, just don't know how to do it on a mac. Need a little help.

    If you are using wireless, you might want to try plugging your computer directly into the cable or DSL modem and running the speedtest again. This will determine if it's a connection problem, or a problem with your wireless (possibly your router). I recently had a router go bad, and the only symptom was it was cutting the connection speeds in half, both wired and wirelessly. When I plugged straight into my cable modem I had full speed.
    What is really strange is the disparity between your upload and download numbers. Usually, the upload is 1/10 of the download, not 2x larger. I've only seen this at work where they throttle our download speeds to 6,000 kbps to keep us from downloading large files for free on the wireless, while the upload speed runs 20,000 kbps. At my home, for example, I have 4,000 kbps download, and 400 kbps upload.

  • Need help with ipod video, problems with blinking screen, wont charge

    Hello,
    I'm a new owner of an ipod video, and I've had it for not even two weeks and haven't used it but 3 or 4 times, and I went to turn it on and nothing happened, so I figured the battery died. Then I hooked it up to the usb and computer (windows xp OS) and nothing except a fast blinking white screen and a low noise, not music though. It wont charge, and I even reinstalled everything and used all the tips online- any words of advice except to take it to an apple store?

    Apple decided to hide the user library folder with OS10.7. You can get to it by using the menu.
    Quit Illustrator.
    Method one....
    In the Finder choose Go > Go To Folder and type "~/Library" (no quotes) and hit OK.
    Your Library folder will open.
    Then navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings
    Move that Settings folder to your desktop.
    Restart Illustrator and try exporting again.
    If it works as expected, you can trash teh Settings folder on your desktop.
    Since you're removing preferences, items like Scratch Disk settings will need to be reconfigured in Illustrator if you've altered them from the default settings.
    Second method.....
    Hold Command-Option-Shift when you launch Illustrator.
    Preferences will be removed.
    You won't get any sort of dialog or window confirming this, it just happens.
    Reason for two methods.
    Method one allows you to put the settings folder back if yoru problem is not cured by removing it. It also allows you to move items back to the new Settings folder that is created (like Workspaces).

  • New Mac Mini intermittent video problems

    I just set up a Mac Mini 2009 version and I'm using 2 LCD monitors. One is a Planar PX2611W and the other is A Samsung Syncmaster 191t. Most of the time they work fine but I'm getting intermittent problems:
    1. The main monitor (plugged into the mini DVI port) occasionally just displays multicolor static noise.
    It resolves itself after a couple of minutes.
    2. The secondary monitor (mini display port) was working but then just stopped displaying. I checked the connections and they were good. I was finally able to get it working again by unplugging and replugging in the connection to the mini display port.
    Could this be a faulty video card or a faulty display port?

    I tried to add a custom resolution - VESA 1680 x 1050 H: 66.874KHz V: 59.884Hz 119MHz pixel clock, according to the 225MS specification from Samsung. You may check this from the bundled CD from your 226BW. Though, this Samsung suggested resolution made the problem even worse! The screen flash with "multicolor static noise" more frequent!
    So I tried to change the V frequency to exactly 59Hz (in CVT-RB simplified mode). The problem...well...I can't say it has gone as I can't spend an hour to look at the screen to check, but I would say, better! It's worth to give it a try!

  • New user with strange font problem

    I created a user account for my girlfriend...when she brought up the safari the google homepage had a strange grafiti font for all the text. (I say strange, but it's one of my many fonts in the collection) I opened up firefox and had the same problem...this morning I realized it was doing it in mail as well. Under my account (the admin and original account) there isn't an issue, but I've looked all over and can't find a setting to fix it for her account.
    It's driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Since it sounds like you know the name of the font, you could try to see if anything turns up with the command below, which searches through user preferences for a given string:<pre>defaults find "font name"</pre>A partial font name should be fine. Enter the command using "/Applications" > "Utilities" > "Terminal.app".
    Also, the caches (associated with a user by the 'uid') don't appear to be cleared when an account is deleted. So if a new user is created and gets assigned a previously used 'uid', they may inherit the old cache files. For starters, try clearing out any file or folder whose name contains the user's 'uid', such as the "/Library/Caches/com.apple.IntlDataCache.###" file or the "/Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/###" folder belonging to the affected user. Then log out and back in. To determine the user's 'uid', try:<pre>id -u username</pre>

  • New Member with popout menu problem

    I'm new to Dreamweaver and am trying to create a page of 3
    frames that contains a dropdown/pop-out menu in the 2nd frame. When
    the popout exceeds 3 choices, it it no longer displayed, giving the
    user the sense that it "disappears" behind the main frame (3rd
    frame). What do I need to do to get the popout menu to lay "on top"
    of the 3rd frame? I'm trying to do the same exact thing that this
    site is doing at the top of this exact page where you see "Home,
    SOlutions, Products, etc", and the popout lays on top of the
    page.

    Probably the most viable solution would be to start over and
    not use frames, then the problem pretty much goes away.
    It is possible to cause some content within a frame to show
    based upon events in other frames (think mousing over a main menu
    item in one frame and having a sub menu appear within another
    frame, but that sub menu content would have to be part of the
    content of the other frame). However, the way to do this is tricky
    and has several cross browser issues, especially when content in
    either frame can be scrolled. It really is much easier to not use
    frames in the first place. IMO, with templates and includes to
    handle adding menus, headers and footer and other common elements
    to all pages there really is no compelling case to be using frames.
    And even if there were, then it would be easier to change the way
    the menu works (think tree or accordion menus on one side of the
    page instead of across top of the page).

  • Having problem with online video, problem only in firefox

    I had an update to Firefox recently, and since then online videos (expect for some reason YouTube) are no longer working, so BBC iPlayer is not working, and other random ones you come across on various websites.
    I have updated Flash, and Firefox, even reset Firefox, but still they are not working.
    I get a "This content doesn't seem to be working" message, on iPlayer and similar on the other websites, its not iPlayer itself, as it works for me on IE.
    Dont know what is going on with my Firefox TBH, because some of my ad-ons have stopped working recently, and its to the point where I might as well be using IE.

    the plug in are not missing, they load, but the content itself does not play, just says that the content does not seem to be working, which is not the case in other browsers. Plugins are also update to date, I did mention that I updated flash, and nothing I can see which looks like it maybe causing a conflict.
    Add ons are not the problem, as the reset has uninstall those anyways, and half of them were not working before hand anyways.
    I have also done a system restore, which has not fixed it, as I have had an error with Office 2013.

  • New MP with 2 video cards, how come?

    I just got my new MP and first off I see 2 graphic cards, I open it up and I have the Radeon X1900 which I ordered as an extra (BTO) in the lowest slot (1), this take up 2 spaces on the rear panel. I also have the NVIDIA standard card in there too in slot 2, so looking at the rear panel I have 4 DVI sockets.
    Is this correct or have Apple made a mistake?
    Also I want to install my Sonnet Allegro Express FW400, but not sure which slot to put it in (2, 3 or 4). I would have to remove the NVIDIA card to put this into slot 2.
    Can someone tell me the best slot for this FW400 card?
    Other than that it looks great, and is really quiet... this is good as I'm a muso with a home studio.

    congrats on your new MP. Fine machine isn't it ?
    have you ordered the two graphics cards ? Have you paid for them ?
    If no to both, then Apple might have made a mistake.
    How you will handle, is up to you.
    I would use the ATI and remove and stock the NVIDIA.
    Using the Configuration Expansion Slot Utility, the bandwidth of the four PCI Express slots can be reconfigured.
    The Configuration Expansion Slot Utility is located on your Mac Pro at: /System/Library/CoreServices/.
    With one graphics card the default assignment should be 16-1-4-4 (Slots 1-4).
    To have an unrestricted airflow I would propose to put the Sonnet into Slot 4, farthest away from the graphics card.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    I am trying to create a news scroller such as the one on espn.com where you have a scrolling news component that can contain images and or videos and links to news stories stored in the database. Does anyone have any guides or tips on how best to achieve this using adobe products?

  • Hi, I have this Zen 8 gig with a video problem ..

    I have some videos in my player with different times. All of them never play to the end. Even a video who plyas only one and half minut doesnt play untill the end of it.
    What is going wrong?
