New to Flash designing a website

Hello All;
I am very familier with website design however, this is my
first attempt at designing a website completely in flash. I have
learned quite a bit over the last couple of weeks playing with this
project and really like the abilities and functionality of flash.
Here is my major problem which I have tried to resolve several
ways. The issue was how to have multiple pages. At first attempt, I
thought I can make html pages and put a seperate flash movie for
each page (i.e. home, contact us, ect. ect.) The only way that
works is with using frames and it is very unorganized. The second
method I tried was using scenes. Scenes are either too complex for
me or I missed something in the translation from the tutorials, so
I abandoned that method as well. Finally, what I am using now is
Frames. Frames seam to work well but here is my major problem. So I
make a frame called contact and it is the contact page ofcourse.
When I go to that frame it has everything from the Home/index
frame; I then delete the stuff and somehow I was able to do this
with some of the frames but others when I delete the things they
get deleted from all the frames. Anyone have any idea what I am
doing wrong here. I would really like to make this site completely
in flash and not resort to any html if I can help it. Anyways,
please let me know if what I am doing is possible or just a pipe
dream?
Thanks in advance
Tamer

Using frames is a good method for building segments of your
site. When you place something on the stage, it will occupy one or
more frames in the timeline. The first frame will be a keyframe,
that's what that filled black dot in the frame means. If you want
something to occupy say 10 frames in your movie's timeline, then
you can go to the eleventh frame and add an empty keyframe. This
will end section of the timeline that contains that particular
content.
You can also use keyframes to create animation. You can find
you more about that in the online help.
You may also want to consider using movieclips to contain the
material for any given section of your movie. Look at some of the
tutorials that came with Flash. They may help to explain some of
these concepts. Also try out the material at

  • Want to create flash design websites using creative suite cs5.5/beginner

Hello everyone! I would really like to learn how to create a great flash design website. I already have website hosting with 2 different companies for two different websites that I have not added content to yet. But I want to add my own templates and and custom feel , design and graphics to and I want it to be great! I have downloaded the dreamweaver free trial and I am seriously considering purchasing Adobe creative suite cs5.5 like tomorrow along with the tutorial that has to be purchased separately. I am a beginner to creating websites and I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or let me know if I am already headed there by purchasing the complete tutorial for cs5.5. Does any one know if I will be making a smart move?

I suggest a visit to Lynda.com. Check out the video training there. This link will get you a one week trial. http://bit.ly/fcGpiI

Very bad practice to just use image slices into your website.
Check out this tutorial to learn how to efficiently slice, dice and markup your design into an active HTML format - http://net.tutsplus.com/articles/news/slice-and-dice-that-psd/
Also, Spry - has been deprecated and is no longer officially supported by Adobe. http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l

  • Embed flash video on website...

About a month ago, I asked for a code to embed a flash video
on my website, but now I am stuck. I was told to convert the videos
to .FLV, which is fine. I can do that, BUT in the coding, I am
confused because the 'file name' in the code ends with .swf. I am
SO lost because if the video is converted to .flv how would it work
if the name in the code ended with .swf? I am VERY new at flash,
and beyond converting the videos to .flv, I'm lost.
Also, if I can figure this out, would I need to add any other
details to make sure the code works in both IE and firefox?

  • New to Flash CS3

    Hi Guys,
I really need your help. I used to use Flash MX a while back.
I can animate in flash really well.
but my problem is the action script. Basicly, i'm design a
    simple learning interface.
at the begining, theintro loads up, but then i need it to
pause. a button appears, which you can click on and it will take
you to the menu screen where you have 3 options to click on to look
    at different products.
my problem is that I can manage to stope theanimation, but i
don't understand how to get the button to go to Scene 2 (which is
    the menu animation)
Am i doing this wrong? will it work with another scene or doi
have to create a new file?
If i'm doing right, can anyone help me with the coding
    please?
I really appreciate you reading this
    thanks

I'm new to flash too, and I created my website in two weeks
using flash and dreamweaver. I still have to fix a couple of bugs,
but after doing tons of reading and using good extensions I was
able to get it up and running. I totally recommend you for the
slide shows what I used for my website. It very easy to configurate
in many ways, not much actionscript required, almost none. Check
    out my site:
    www.mauriciolopez.info
This is the link for the flash extension called 'Creative FL
Stroller' I used to create my galleries:

You can download it right away and comes with very easy to
    follow materials.
    I hope this helps!

  • Want to add online store into my pre-designed PHP website template

    Hi guys,
I have designed my website in PHP and need to add an online store to my site.
In the past I've used the WebAssist PayPal extension but ideally I am after something a bit more versatile and something that displays the user's shopping basket within my website template, instead of opening a new window with the cart contents.
Does anyone know of any shopping carts out there that I can insert into my template? Or, is there a way to manipulate the WebAssist buttons to have the shopping cart display within my website template - without using iFrames or unsatisfactory fixes like that?
Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

    Hi John,
Thanks for the reply! Ideally free but if not, I wouldn't really want to spend any more than $100 on it really.

  • Posting Problem on Flash Player-based Website

I have a brand new desktop with Windows 7, with both 64 and 32 bit Internet Explorer.  When on the 32 bit explorer and attempting to post on HBO's Flash Player-based website, I now am unable to make paragraph breaks.  Never had this problem before.  Can anyone offer any insight?

What I read is Adobe is not supporting mobile Flash any longer, which means no security updates.  BlackBerry has chosen not to use it going forward, which makes sense if it isn't supported and isn't being updated by the developer.

  • Very new to Flash

Hi all. I am very very new to Flash, been thinking about usig
it for all of a day! I have to come up with a website and the
general idea is that a lot of 3D is to be used. Although I have
been heavily involved in 3D for 14 years now, web development apart
from HTML is a little new to me. I have been told that the SWF
output from Maya is not actually truly suitable for a website due
to file sizes. Is this true? Would anybody be able to suggest an
alternative or a way to shrink file sizes if needed? Maya is what I
know, 2D animation isn't. Any help on this would be truly
    appreciated.
    Regards, A.

check out Swift 3D, it's probably one of the best
    solutions

  • Help... I'm new to Flash

    Hello,
I am new to Flash development and I've created a simple flash
website with links/buttons on the left and on the right a content
    box.
My question is how to make transitions or effects after you
click one of the links on the left, to make the content part load
up into a special effect, something like random tiles flipping over
displaying the new content corresponding to the button on the left
that you click. Are there any tutorials that would be helpful? I'm
also trying to create a special effect that loads the entire flash
in a cool way, not having the flash just appear simply but appear
    with a special effect.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Alan

You can insert ananimation in a movieclip with an alpha
transition. Load it on a higher level as the button is clicked on a
    lower level.
There are many examples, there are about as many ways to do
    it also.

  • META TAGS? How do I change meta tags while designing my website in iweb?

META TAGS? How do I change meta tags while designing my website in iweb?

I've designed a new website using iWeb. (I'm a beginner and have never done this before.) I published it to MobileMe. The site is for a volunteer organization, which requires that all pictures and images have text tags. (For this purpose, I assume that's the same as Meta tags.) A rep at the local Apple store clued me into iWebSEO Tool ("SEO"). I used it successfully got all my pictures and images tagged, altho it was hard and took a few hours. This was two months ago. I checked my site earlier this week and all the tags have disappeared. I went back to SEO and all my original work was still there. So I hit re-apply and then saved and republished my site. Still no tags. I have several questions. Is this a regular problem with SEO? Do I have to do all the tags over again? Is there any easier solution? Is Apple going to improve iWeb so this is not a problem in the future? I'll appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

  • Question - New to Flash

I am new to flash and building a simple picture slideshow with buttons for the next frame and previous frame to use on a website. I have two questions. 1. How do I get the pictures to start over at the beginning once I get to the last frame? Right now I can only got forward or backward. 2. I tried to use a video clip in the last keyframe and when I test the movie in Flash it works fine but when I posted the .swf file to the website all of the pictures played except the video clip. I am using the following action script:
    stop();
    next_btn.onRelease=function(){
    nextFrame();
    prev_btn.onRelease=function(){

I am a complete rookie. Any help would be much appreciated. Also any recommendation on where to learn to work with action script would be useful

3.0 and above (3.0 is the latest out right now).  The two types of AS are very different in structure and 3.0 is much more like JavaScript and other ECMA scripting languages that incorporate Object Oriented Programming (OOP).   I don't know a lot about OOP other than it can be used to house Classes and call upon them in an organized fashion to save you a lot of coding in the long haul.  Don't worry about OOP right now.
Where you should be looking for resources are online and in books.  There are lots and lots of books about ActionScript 3.0--just check your favorite online book retailer and also do a web search for ActionScript 3.0 tutorials.  You will probably find one that will explain how to code the logic for you to return to the first frame of your timeline and continue going in the forward direction and vice versa if you were rewinding and wanted to loop to the last frame and continue going in the backward direction of your timeline.
Also, there is the ActionScript 3.0 Reference Manual which ships with Flash and will allow you to look through code examples.  Just go to your Help menu for Flash Help.

  • Unable to install new adobe flash update -- tried several times

I have tried numerous times to install the new Adobe Flash player. Although it registers on my downloads, I am unable to bring up the site. Several websites require this download. What can I do to download this plug in successfully?

It's best to download from Adobe's official site:

I am new to using the adobe products. Up to this point I have been using wordpress to design and build websites for friends. I am starting to get more friends asking me to build sites for them.
Does Adobe have any free tutorials that I can review that can show me how to layout and design a website using photoshop?
The last website I did was www.thetop40.com and I want to create something like this again.
