New user can't access server

We are using Small Business Server 2011. It's been a long time, more than three years, since I created a new user. I went to the Standard Console and followed the Add
New User Wizard. I assigned the user to her computer. When she logs on, she can access e-mail but can't get to the shared drives on the computer. I tried on my computer, logged her in, and it's the same scenario. What am I doing wrong? I know it's something
simple, but all the users in the Standard Console, including the new two, have the same boxes checked.

Hi,
Based on your description, would you please let me confirm whether just the new created user encountered this
issue, or all users? Did new created user use other function as normal? Such as Remote Web Access.
à
can't get to the shared drives on the computer
Did you mean mapped drives? If can’t access, would you please let me know the complete error message? Or the
drive was not displayed when the new user logon the client computer? If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know. It may help me to understand clearly.
By the way, please run
SBS BPA and check if find relevant issues.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

  • New Users can't access mail, "Access" granted but still not working! Help!

I am running snow leopard 10.6.6 and I am having an issue where new users cannot log onto their mail accounts from programs nor the web. Though their mailboxes are set up and recieving email just fine. There logins work everywhere else (wiki, blogs, workstations), but when trying to login to mail they get that the username or password is incorrect.
This does not affect the admin. And we have enabled access in the services area of server admin as well as restarted the server. Any other help? I searched and saw that solution but no others. Any help?
It's running on a Mac mini server

Ok I always like to close out my posts. For my new users not being able to login for Mail. The issue with the IMAP with mail clients was resolved by a repair of disk permissions & a restart. Not sure what happened there 100%. But saw that tip in another thread.
Post that, I was still unable to log into webmail for users. They were getting an error:
ERROR Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost. 61 : Connection refused
This was caused by the fact that i set IMAP to REQUIRE SSL, but for some reason Squirrel Mail did not reconfigure itself to match those settings. So to do that, you have to use terminal to put up an admin for Squirrelmail.
    Enter
    sudo /usr/share/squirrelmail/config/conf.pl
this pulls up an easy config menu for Squirrel mail. I needed to change two things, under SERVER SETTINGS, then UPDATE IMAP SETTINGS, then you have to change both IMAP PORT to 993 and SECURE IMAP to YES. Save and Quit ad you are up and running.
Hope this helps the next person!

  • Can't log new user onto Mac Mini Server

I can't log a new user into Mac Mini server.  Have added the user to the Workgroup Manager, and am now trying to use the password created there for log-in on user computer. Any advice?

Do you have Server Access Control Lists (SACLs) configured?  If so, you will need to add this new user to the appropriate SACLs before it can connect.  As an example, when I create new users, I need to add them to the File Sharing SACL or they never see any available shares on the server.

  • 10.6.8 Server. New Users can not authenticate

We have two Xserves (one OD Master, one replica) running OS X 10.6.8 Server and about 100 client macs all running 10.6.8.
We have a problem when adding new users in WorkGroup Manager. Users seem to be added correctly (no errors), and all info matches existing/previous users in WGM (including Kerberos and apple password entries). New users can not log into their Macs, nor authenticate to mount any volumes that also authenticate through our Master OD server. What's odd is that we can edit passwords, etc in existing/previous users and they are updated on the client end. We have also verified logs and compared new users authentication logs to existing and the logs say that the users authenticate successfully.
We are at a loss as what to do next. Any ideas?

  • Other user can't access to OBIEE 11G installed on a server

    Hello,
We have installed OBIEE 11G on a server ( windows sever 2008 r2) with admin account, and it works fine, But others users can't access to obiee 11g ( administration icons are white in their sessions) even they have admin rights.
Can anyone tell me what should we do??
    Thank you.

    Hi,
This is the exact format how my tnsnames.ora file looks. sorry, I can ping it in command prompt now. In my connection pool i tried first DSN =  ab.bc.xy.zx, did not work. Then I saw oracle's default repository and changed my DSN to your suggested format starting from "DESCRPTION" to rest. Still no luck Do you think, i should put the same TNS in my local machine??
    ab.bc.xy.zx =
    (DESCRIPTION =
        #(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.20.30.110)(PORT = 1521))
        #(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.20.30.120)(PORT = 1521))
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.20.30.130)(PORT = 1521))
        (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SID = cap2)
    thanks,

  • Users can't access iCal Server without adminstrator privileges

I have just installed Apple's Snow Leopard Server, Version 10.6.8. Everything installed just great and with one exception works fine.
ICal is running on the server. When a client attempts to  access the server he is denied unless he has administrator privileges. For example:
I open iCal and select "Accounts". I click the + button and for the account type I select "CalDav".  I enter a User Name and Password.  Then the server address.   An error message comes back that states “No CalDav servers were found for [our server address]"
However, I can then open the Workgroup Manager and give that same user administrator access by checking the check box that states "User Can Administer This Server" and repeat the above process and everything works fine.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Same here.  My 9900 will not connect to my cameras on port 81.  However when I tether my Playbook to my 9900 and try to connect using the Playbook browsr it connects.  Is it that the 9900 browser does not like port 81?

  • Creating new user having same access as that of SYSTEM user in Express Edit

Hi, is it possible in oracle to create a new user having same access as that of SYSTEM user?
If yes what would be syntax?
If not i would like to create a user having most of admin rights likes exporting and importing schemas and all.
    How it can be done?
Any help would be appreciated.. :)
I am using Express Edition 11g.

    same access as that of SYSTEM usergrant dba to <username>;
Its not exactly system equivalent, sys does grant a few rights directly to system database user but its pretty darn close.
    exporting and importing schemasgrant datapump_exp_full_database to <username>;
    grant datapump_imp_full_database to <username>;

  • Why the apple store is so expensive and why the apple users can't access for free after spending huge amount in apple phone ?

Why the apple store is so expensive and why the apple users can't access for free after spending huge amount in apple phone ?

The Apple store is correct. The warranty is not international, and Apple will not accept or return iPhones shipped from a different country.  You need to ship the phone to somebody in Hong Kong who can take it in to Apple for repair, or pay a third party repair shop in the Philippines to fix it.

  • User Can Browse Network Server But Not Access Share

I have a client computer that can access shares on a network, however on server the user cannot access a specific shared folder.
Client is Windows 7 joined to domain
Client can access shares on other servers and other shared folders on the problem server
I have checked effective permissions for the user and they have modify permission on the folder/subfolders
    Share is Everyone - FC
Have explicitly added user to share with FC permissions as well.
    Server is 2012.
The error I am getting is The Specified Network Name is No Longer Available
Other users do not have this issue.
User can access share from another client.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the update.

  • Lion Server: new user can't connect

This is a local ethernet network, Mac Mini running Lion Server 10.7.4.
I created 2 new users with Server app, same specs as already existing users, but can't connect to the server with the new id's. I just don't undrestand what I'm missing. The old id's all work perfectly when I try to connect.

Check your Services' ACL with Server Admin. It may happen that the new users are included in groups which are allowed for some services, but the new users are not included automatically in this group.

  • SSRS 2005 why some users can't access report server.

There is one user who can't access report server by clicking a link to a report. A window will pop up asking for login. Even he enters login, the window will keep coming back. I have set the user for that report and assigned the 'Browser' role to the user.
Other users don't have this problem. E.g. for another user I also set him up for the report and assigned 'Browser' role but he can access the same report no problem.

    Hi thotwielder,
As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused by the following two reasons:
The report server can be blocked by Firewall. If Windows Firewall is turned on, the port that the report server is configured to use is most likely closed. Indications that a port might be closed are the appearance of a blank Web page after requesting a
report, or a blank page when you attempt to open Report Manager from a remote client computer. In this scenario, we can try to open port 80 in Windows Firewall on both report server and client computers.
The report server can be blocked by browser. We should ass the report server URL to trusted site in the browser.
We can also grant the user access to site-wide operations with system-level row in report manager to check the issue again.
Please double-check we have been grand the user the browser role on the report. We can navigate to Security property of the report to check the issue.
    Reference:
Configure a Firewall for Report Server Access
Configure a Native Mode Report Server for Local Administration (SSRS)
Grant User Access to a Report Server (Report Manager)

  • Server 4: Local user can't access restricted website

    Hello.
One of our locally hosted websites (LAN-only) is set up to require restricted access via OS X Server's "Access Group" setting. It contains a number of OD-based users and a single local user (the machine's admin user). All OD-based users can access the website (after supplying their credentials), but the single local user can't (keeps rejecting the credentials). This worked fine for this user under 10.9 Server—the issue has only been introduced after the 10.10 upgrade.
The only thing I'm able to find in the logs is:
[Thu Oct 23 13:03:23.125136 2014] [apple_digest:error] [pid 1971] [client XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:XXXXX] Access to / failed, reason: user 'XXX' does not meet 'require'ments for user to be allowed access
    [Thu Oct 23 13:03:23.125276 2014] [authz_core:error] [pid 1971] [client XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:XXXXX] AH01631: user XXX: authorization failure for "/":
I've confirmed the correct credentials being used (as it's the same user used to physically access the server itself).
Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

I opted to use ".com.na" in which case the Internal Domain Name and Internet Website
    now has the same name.
This ends up with a split-DNS stup for internal and external resolution which requires extra administration tasks and attention from the administrators.
When attempting to open the extarnal website eg. "www.company.com.na" from a client PC within the internal "company.com.na" Domain, I keep getting error "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view
this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied."
I should also mention, the website is hosted by an ISP and not locally.
I added a "www" Host record in the Forward Lookup Zone, I have added the url and ip address to the Hosts file on a client pc (Windows 7) and even tried setting up Split-Brains DNS. Nothing seems to work.
Running a Tracert takes me to the correct public ip address of the website, but I keep getting this 403 error.
This means that you are able to reach the Website but it is responding with the access denied error message. That should be checked on the middleware level so if this is IIS running then I would recommend asking them in IIS forum: http://forums.iis.net/
If this is a Website that is completely managed by your ISP then I would recommend checking with them.
