Newbie consuming bean from VB6 COM

Hi - I'm completely new to Beans and am trying to call a Java method from VB6 as 'proof of concept'.
My java code has one method that returns a string; it compiles OK to a .class file; I can create a .jar using a manifest file containing "Java-Bean: True"; and I can use the activex packager to create a .tlb file.
When I try to instantiate my class from VB6 using early binding I get "automation error - the specified module could not be found", and late binding using CreateObject just gives me "activex component cannot create object"
Does anyone have ideas to what the problem is ??
Thanks, Andrew.

you need to compile your bean with the ActiveX packager (packager.exe) to a DLL. then you must register the dll (e.g. with regsvr32.exe), then you must reference the component (DLL) in visual basic, and then you can use it:
Private Sub Form_Load()
    Dim value
    Dim java As Object
    Set java = CreateObject("JavaTestBean.Bean.1") 'create bean object
    java.setValue (3)         'call method setValue() of bean
    value = java.getValue()   'call method getValue() of bean
    MsgBox "Value: " & value  'print calculated value
    Set java = Nothing
End Sub

    yes.
    i have developed some tutorials etc. that use VBA that you can see here

    Hello,
    I have a need to make a c# call from a VB6 application.
    In order to achieve this I wrote a c# routine and tried to call it from vb6 through following ways:
    1. Calling a .NET web service from VB6/COM
    2. Calling c# webservice from VB6/COM
    When we tried to use that routine in VB6, we got error as "could not connect with this type of format".. and then "Illegal Operation" and then application shut down.
    Please advise on what am I missing.
    Thank you

  • Accessing the same stateful session bean from multiple clients in a clustered environment

    I am trying to access the same stateful session bean from multiple
              clients. I also want this bean to have failover support so we want to
              deploy it in a cluster. The following description is how we have tried
              to solve this problem, but it does not seem to be working. Any
              insight would be greatly appreciated!
              I have set up a cluster of three servers. I deployed a stateful
              session bean with in memory replication across the cluster. A client
              obtains a reference to an instance of one of these beans to handle a
              request. Subsequent requests will have to use the same bean and could
              come from various clients. So after using the bean the first client
              stores the handle to the bean (actually the replica aware stub) to be
              used by other clients to be able to obtain the bean. When another
              client retrieves the handle gets the replica aware stub and makes a
              call to the bean the request seems to unpredictably go to any of the
              three servers rather than the primary server hosting that bean. If the
              call goes to the primary server everything seems to work fine the
              session data is available and it gets backed up on the secondary
              server. If it happens to go to the secondary server a bean that has
              the correct session data services the request but gives the error
              <Failed to update the secondary copy of a stateful session bean from
              home:ejb20-statefulSession-TraderHome>. Then any subsequent requests
              to the primary server will not reflect changes made on the secondary
              and vice versa. If the request happens to go to the third server that
              is not hosting an instance of that bean then the client receives an
              error that the bean was not available. From my understanding I thought
              the replica aware stub would know which server is the primary host for
              that bean and send the request there.
              Thanks in advance,
              Justin

              If 'allow-concurrent-call' does exactly what you need, then you don't have a problem,
              do you?
              Except of course if you switch ejb containers. Oh well.

  • How do you use one managed session bean from another?

    Hello -
    I am a complete newbie to JSF coming from Struts 1. My question is how do you use one managed bean from the method of another one? I think this would be a common senario. For example I put a bean in session scope when a user logs in and in a different method within a different bean I want to get some of this user's information. What is the correct way to retireve one bean from a method in another with session scope?
    Also what would the code look like to retieve another bean from the method of a managed bean where the bean you want to retrieve has application scope?
    Thank you in advance.

    Sinplicity wrote:
    Could you be a bit more specific? If a bean is configured in the faces config file then all of it's properties are managed, correct?Not necessarily.
    What would the code look like to retireve the bean?You don't retrieve it, it has been injected.
    Can I retrieve the whole bean or just a property of the bean. I would be really interested in seeing how this is done in code? And would really love a bit more information on what it means to be a managed property?Time to consult a JSF tutorial.

  • Is there a way to control the number of consumed messages from JMS?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a BPEL process that is consumes messages from a foreign queue, performs a transformation, and passes it to Oracle Apps. I'm curious if there is a way to control the number of messages consumed at a time for processing.
    For example, if we place 50 transactions on this queue, I would like to only consume 10. And then as each one is processed and passed to Oracle Apps, I would like to pull another transaction off the queue. So basically I would only be processing 10 at the most.
    The issue I am having is we put 50 on the queue and the 50 are take off right away. But then half are making it into Oracle Apps and the remainder is failing with a JCA Connection Factory max connection error.
    Instead of changing the settings to get more through, I am wondering if it's possible to limit the number being processes at any one time.
    Thanks

  • How can a JMS adapter be configured in BPEL to consume messages from multiple queues ?

    How can a JMS adapter be configured in BPEL to consume messages from multiple queues ?

    If you want to use JMS with AQ as datastore then there is some configuration you need to do to enable this. This is outside SOA Suite per sa, e.g. no adapter required.
    If you want to connect to the AQ direct then use the AQ adapter.
    this blog may be of some help understand the configuration

  • Initialize a stateful session bean from another

    Hi,
    I am trying to create and initialize a stateful session bean from another stateful session bean. The code is as follows
    This method belongs to DefaultSessionBean where it creates the AdminSessionBean based on few checks and returns it to the client.
        public AdminSession getAdminSession() throws UnknownException, WarningException {
            checkSessionUser("getAdminSession");
            if (isAdmin()) {
                AdminSession adminSession;
                try {
                    final Context context = IToolsUtil.getInitialContext();
                    adminSession = (AdminSession)context.lookup("AdminSession");
                    System.out.println("Successfully created the adminsession bean");
                } catch (NamingException ne) {
                    ne.printStackTrace();
                    throw new UnknownException (new CatalogHelper("ITOOLS_100019", new Object[]{"Admin", ne.getMessage()}));
                System.out.println("adminsession will be returned");
                return adminSession;
            } else {
                throw new WarningException (new CatalogHelper("ITOOLS_000042", sessionUser.getUserhandle()));
        }Another method in DefaultSessionBean, creates its local interface and returns it.
        public DefaultSessionLocal getDefaultSessionLocal() {
            DefaultSessionLocal dsl = (DefaultSessionLocal)context.getBusinessObject(DefaultSessionLocal.class);
            System.out.println("local created.");
            return dsl;
        }Client call initialize method of the AdminSessionBean which is mentioned below:
        public void initialize(DefaultSession ds) throws WarningException, UnknownException {
            this.ds = ds.getDefaultSessionLocal();
            this.rfl = ReadFieldList.getInstance();
            this.fm = new FinderMethods();

    Your remote client passes a DefaultSession to AdminSession.initialize(..). This DefaultSession has to be a remote type. In your client, how does it get DefaultSession?
    Did your client look up DefaultSession, and have it return a (sessionContext.getBusinessObject(DefaultSession.class))? If so, it should work.

  • How to consume OData from SNWG in Windows Phone

    Hi Friends,

    Hi Holger,
    I have already tried this steps( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/gg521145(v=vs.105).aspx  &  OData client for Windows Phone 8 )  and are able to consume OData service from my Windows Phone 8 app with the OData service link (http://services.odata.org/Northwind/Northwind.svc/ ) provided in the example.
    But when I try to use some other  remote service like (http://<Gateway_Host><Gateway_Port>/>/sap/opu/sdata/iwfnd/RMTSAMPLEFLIGHT?sap-client=100 ) it doesn't work, even I don't find any service.
    Could you please tell me if this is a value document and will support for my development, if then where do I get SAP NetWeaver Gateway for my dvelopment.

  • CMP Beans from Tables: Why does the Container try to create new tables?

    I'm trying to develop an EJB application using JDeveloper on 9iAS. I have several CMPs and have my tables that I want my CMPs to be based on already defined in my DB schema. I want to use CMP but I don't want the Container to create the tables, rather I want the Container to map my CMP EJBs to the already existing tables.
    The issue is:
    While creating these CMP EJBs in JDeveloper I chose the "New Enterprise Java Bean" EJB creation wizard using the option labeled "Container-managed Entity Beans from Tables". My assumption is that this does what I want, because the wizard prompts for a schema and table you want to map to. Then it creates the attributes & getter/setter methods, PK class, etc. all based on the table defintion automatically. Great. So why when I try to run my application do I get error messages for each EJB such as:
    Auto-creating table: create table STREET_TYPE (PK_STYP_ID NUMBER(8), STREET_TYPE VARCHAR2(20), primary key (PK_STYP_ID, STREET_TYPE))
    Warning: Error creating table: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
    Huh?? I thought the idea is that the CMP EJB is mapped to the existing table in my schema. Why is the Container trying to create new tables?? Is this possible? Or am I missing something fundamental about how Containers create and manage CMPs? Or is this just a JDevelop container issue? TIA

    I presume you are getting the problem on application
    deploy? This happens when upon initialization of the application using the built-in OC4J container/app server that is part of JDeveloper. Here is the full messaging:
    [Starting OC4J using the following ports: HTTP=8989, RMI=23892, JMS=9228.]
    C:\OraHome1\jdk\bin\javaw.exe -ojvm -classpath C:\OraHome1\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar com.evermind.server.OC4JServer -config C:\OraHome1\jdev\system\oc4j-config\server.xml
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    Copying default deployment descriptor from archive at Q:\CBTCOF\COF_APPLICATION\COF_Project\classes/META-INF/orion-ejb-jar.xml to deployment directory C:\OraHome1\jdev\system\oc4j-config\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\classes...
    Auto-deploying file:/Q:/CBTCOF/COF_APPLICATION/COF_Project/classes/ (No previous deployment found)...
    Auto-creating table: create table STREET_TYPE (PK_STYP_ID NUMBER(8), STREET_TYPE VARCHAR2(20), primary key (PK_STYP_ID, STREET_TYPE))
    Warning: Error creating table: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object
    [...OTHER SIMILAR ERROR MESSAGES]
    done.
    Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers for J2EE initialized
    If so, in the application.xml file of you
    OC4J instance the is a setting autocreate-tables,
    which by default is true!
    Set it to false as below and that should clear up
    your problem.
    <orion-application autocreate-tables="false"
    default-data-Hmm. I found at least a dozen or so files with that name and set everyone that had this attriute to "false", restarted the OC4J server and still got these errors.

  • Stepping into Java Beans from JSP

    I am trying to figure out how to step into the Java Source code for my beans that are used in my JSP pages. I need to be able to debug them by stepping into them, using break points, etc.
    I have Nitro installed and a sample JSP page with the import to my test Java Bean class. What I did was create two projects in my work space. One as a Web project application and one as a Java project. I referenced and opened both projects. Everything compiles fine and the syntax is correct.
    The problem is I can not make the link for importing the class.
    I get this error: Class com.BrianTest.MyBean not found in import com.BrianTest.MyBean
    Anyone got a clue or a good example? I did try and add the class path and I tried to put it in a Jar file and attach the source to the Jar, but same problem.
    Thanks :?

    Stepping into jsp:useBean is not possible, but you can step-into jsp getter & setter tag.
    Since you are using java bean from a dependent project you need to configure your server with DevLoader.
    And currently only Tomcat server can be configured with Sysdeo Devloader to handle this situation
    Download Sysdeo DevLoader for Tomcat from http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/tomcatPlugin.html
    NOTE: If the project is self sufficient and not dependent on other projects/locations for classess/libraries then NitroX picks up all the libraries & classes present within default WEB-INF/lib & WEB-INF/classes respectively. And in this case you need not modify server configuration.
    Sysdeo DevLoader is to allow your web project to use libraries/classes from dependent projects. All you need to do is extract DevLoader.zip present within tomcatPluginV3.zip inside your Tomcat/server/classes folder.
    For more information about DevLoader please refer to http://www.sysdeo.com/eclipse/readmeDevLoader.html
    This will solve your problem and you should be able to run/debug your application. And most important make sure you have the correct NitroX build that supports Sysdeo DevLoader, refer http://www.m7.com/whatsnew.htm document against your build id (Help > About NitroX > NitroX Icon)

  • Set value of variable in one bean from another bean

    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4, I thought this would be simple to do, but I haven't been able to figure out the correct syntax and am just learning java. In my view controller I have one bean set as pageflow scope, and another bean set as a request scope. How do I set the value of a variable in the first bean from the second bean? The first bean has setters and getters, but when I try to reference them in the second bean, it says it isn't allowed. The first bean looks like:
    public class ViewAmtsParameters {
        String asOfDateParam = null;
        public void setAsOfDateParam(String asOfDateParam) {
            this.asOfDateParam = asOfDateParam;
        public String getAsOfDateParam() {
            return asOfDateParam;
    }Thanks in advance,
    Troy

    for ur reference: go through entire docs.

  • Problems accessing ejb 3.0 entity bean from project

    I have written some code using ejb 3.0 and was previously accessing the entity bean without problem when both ejbs and the accessing code were in the same project. However I have moved the accessing code into a different project within the same application and now when the code tries to accessing the entity bean I get the following error:
    com.colwilson.web.ingestion.IdentifiedException: java.lang.ClassCastException: __Proxy3
         at com.colwilson.web.ingestion.IngestionHandler.recordArrived(IngestionHandler.java:140)
         at com.colwilson.web.ingestion.IngestionHandler.main(IngestionHandler.java:52)

         ... 1 more
    Now, of course I could move the code back into the same project, but as I understand it that is just the point of ejbs. I'm looking up the entity bean thus:
    final Context context = InitialContext();
    ingestionSessionEJB =
    (IngestionSessionEJB)context.lookup("IngestionSessionEJB");
    It may be true that I don't understand the way lookup works, but to be honest I can't find the docs that explain what I've got wrong.
    Please help.

    hi
    Double Click on the project which is goin to use the project which contains bean from the Application Navigator window. The project properties window will open. Choose the "Dependencies" item from left panel. click on the radio "User Project Settings" and select another project which contain ejb which you're goin to access...
    Best Of Luck
