Newbie question: adf Table

I got an ADF table but it is to big. It has many rows. I want the table can show 10 rows each time and it has selections of next and previous items.
Which properties's item should be changed?
Where is the Table data streaming?

YE,
You did mot mention which jdev version you are using, which would really help for this question. And don't forget that if you give a use case too, you get better answers or other ways to archive your goal.
Assuming 11g:
A quick search of this forum would reveal the answer: there are no such properties. 11g tables don't use the old next/prev navigation any more. The data is fetched in the background when you scroll through the table.
Does it make sense to show the user a table with millions of rows? Will he really visit them all?
In most cases the answer is no. You should reduce the number of rows returned by your query.

  • Newbie question Temporary Tables

    Hi,
    I'm trying to do a comparison between 2 tables but since the realtionship between them is a many --> many I need to summarise the data from each before doing the comparison
    I've done this before in SQL server by using temporary tables as in
    SELECT Order_Number,count(*)
    INTO #temporders
    FROM ordeerlines
    GROUP BY Order_Number
    Is such a facility available within SQL Developer?
    Many thanks
    Steve

    I think you are looking for inline views.
    But you should repost this question under the SQL and PL/SQL forum.

    I'm using an insert command that is run through a CGI script, the text is inserted in a text box on a webpage. When it passes the text into a variable, it uses that variable as what to insert.

  • Display and edit currently selected row of ADF Table in ADF Form

    I have an ADF Read-only Table and ADF Form, which were created from the same Data Control.
    I need to be able to edit the selected row of the table in the form (just like in "Binding Data Controls to your JSF page" part of "Developing RIA Web Applications with Oracle ADF" Tutorial). However, I can't figure out how to do this :(
    I found the following solution on the Web: #{bindings.DeptView1.currentRow.dataProvider.dname} - but it doesn't work, since "the class oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowImpl does not have the property dataProvider".
    Sorry for the newbie question.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi,
    AFAIK, dataProvider is not supported on ADF BC, hence the error.
    If you have created ADF Read only table and form from the same data control you just need to refresh the form based on table selection to show up the selected record, to do which you just need to add partialTriggers property to the panelFormLayout and set its value to the id of table

  • Partial Page Rendering - newbie question

    I am a newbie to ADF and I am in the process of trying out the tutorial "Developing Ajax-Based User Interfaces with ADF Faces Rich Client Components" http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_56/jdtut_11r2_56.html
    I have a question regarding Step 4. I am not very sure where to post this question, if this is not the correct forum, pardon me.
    Under "Step 4: Implementing Partial Page Rendering" there is this following comment
    In order to have a refresh of the Product Details when you select another row in the Product table, we need to set the Partial Rendering behavior. To do so, perform the following steps:
    Similarly On Step 3, sub step 26 states "Finally, double-click on any of the rows in the product table. Notice that the Product Details pane does not reflect the change in the selected product. To implement this synchronization, we need to add partial page rendering functionality."
    Question: even before I tried any of the changes mentioned in step 4, I am finding that the product details pane does show information related to the product selected on the panel collection (in other words it is displaying the master detail information automatically). What am I missing here? As per the training document it is supposed to work only after implementing changes mentioned in step 4. Can one of you kindly point out if this is a mistake in documentation or if I have misunderstood the statement?
    Thanks
    A Sreedhar

    Frank,
    Thank you very much for the quick turnaround; I appreciate it.
    Yes, I am using what seems to be the latest version of JDev (11.1.2.3.0); and yes the ChangeEventPolicy for the iterator is set to "ppr". Thank you for pointing that out.
    Does that mean ppr is standard for most components (when I say components, I mean adf tables, button's etc), don't we need to add any special events to get that to work?
    I just wanted to see, what will it due if the ChangeEventPolicy for the iterator is set to "None"; made the change saved it, there were two iterators I changed the "ChangeEventPolicy" on both to none; saved it and ran the page. It worked same as before; I was expecting it will not load the corresponding data at the child level, but it did. can you kindly point out what is wrong.
    <executables>
    <variableIterator id="variables"/>
    <iterator Binds="root" RangeSize="25" DataControl="StoreProducts" id="StoreProductsIterator"
    ChangeEventPolicy="none"/>
    <accessorIterator MasterBinding="StoreProductsIterator" Binds="products" RangeSize="25" DataControl="StoreProducts"
    BeanClass="tutorial.model.Product" id="productsIterator" ChangeEventPolicy="none"/>

  • Refresh adf table and selection row

    Hi,
    I create web application. I have created entity Users from MySQL database and managed Bean. In this managed Bean (sessionScope) is method for connection to database and method for adding new row (data) in database. It works.
    I have 2 problems.
    The first.
    I have form for adding User and commandButton Add.
    How I can refresh (update) adf table after executing SQL command (in commandButton Add) ? Now I must reconnect session.
    The second problem:
    I want to show a panel with data from one row from adf table.
    How I can selection this row in popup ?
    My table:

  • How to get selected entity from ADF Table

    I'm using EJB and ADF Faces.
    I have an ADF Table, and when a row is selected I'd like to be able to get the EJB Entity that was selected, is this feasible?
    The reason I would like to do it, is for a Dialog. I have a popup dialog, and in the popup the user can do a search. The results are displayed in the ADF table. When supplying the return value from the dialog:
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().returnFromDialog(?, null);
    I would like ? to be the EJB entity representing the row, because I need to return the value of more than one of the columns. Is this not realistic, or should I just add then to a List and pass that back?
    thanks

    Thanks KUBA,
    I hacked some code from the inbuilt JDeveloper Help. Are you saying there is an easier way than this, or did I state the question poorly and you gave an answer to something else? My english is not always perfect.
    This is the code that works for me. (cmdSelect is the submit button on the table)
    public String cmdSelect_action() {
    //Access the tableSelectMany1 table. Note that the table name
    //is taken from the id of the table in the JSF page.
    CoreTable table = this.getUserResultsTable();
    //Obtain a list of all selected rows from the table
    Set rowSet = table.getSelectionState().getKeySet();
    Iterator rowSetIter = rowSet.iterator();
    //Use the declarative method to get the ADF bindings
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    //Get the object to delete. To do this, you must get the
    //iterator binding for the Products in the page definition file,
    //and cast it to DCIteratorBinding for further processing
    DCIteratorBinding pr_dcib = (DCIteratorBinding)
    bindings.get ("queryUserVFindByFullNameIter");
    //Loop through the set of selected row numbers and delete the
    //equivalent object from the Products collection.
    UserV userV = null;
    while (rowSetIter.hasNext()){
    //get the table row
    Key key = (Key) rowSetIter.next();
    //set the current row in the ADF binding to the same row
    pr_dcib.setCurrentRowWithKey(key.toStringFormat(true));
    //Obtain the Products object to delete
    RowImpl prRow = (RowImpl) pr_dcib.getCurrentRow();
    //using the generated code to execute the declarative method
    userV = (UserV)prRow.getDataProvider();
    break;
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().returnFromDialog(userV, null);
    return null;
    }

  • How to get selected row from a non-bind ADF table

    Hi,
    I have an ADF table that is based on a collectionModel built programmatically. The collectionModel is this:
    model = new SortableModel(new ArrayList<ArrayList>());
    Hence, it is not a binding table. My question is how to get the selectedRows from a non-bind table.
    I am used to building binding ADF table and I know we can get it from voiterator.getCurrentRow, since the selectionListener is set to the binding....collectionModel.makeCurrent
    <af:table value="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel}"
    selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
    selectionListener="#{bindings.ItasLookupTypesVO1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
    </af:table>
    I am thinking maybe I need to write my own selectionListener, but need more advice/ideas of what's the codes in the customer selection Listener to get it from my SortableModel.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -Mina

    I'm not sure if this works in your case, but check out the selection listener I write in this blog http://wp.me/pcBZk-eu
    You should use the selection event and check the added set. This should give you access to the selected row.

  • Is there a way to create ADF Table using a bean

    Hi,
    I am using JDev 11g 11.1.1.2.0.
    I am reading an excel sheet and want to generate an ADF table using the same. I already have hold on excel data.
    But when I go through the RichTable API, I find that there is no method to add Columns and Rows. Most or all the methods work on the table UI Looks attribute.
    Any suggestion? Am I missing a method OR 2 here?
    Pls note: The excel (CSV file) using which I am populating my table, will vary for different user. i.e.
    say user 1 will upload a CSV file with 7cols and 100 rows while
    user 2 will upload the CSV file that has 2 cols and 100 rows.
    Hope this makes it clear of my requirements and why I want to populate the table from a bean.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to get selected row data of an ADF table in HashMap?

    Hi,
    Can anyone please tell me how to selected row data of an ADF table in HashMap like :
    Object obj = pageTable.getSelectedRowData();
    JUCtrlHierNodeBinding rowData = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)obj;
    Now in above code I want the convert rowData in HashMap.
    Can anyone please tell me how to do that? Its urgent.
    Thanks,
    Vik

    Vik,
    No need to ask the same question 3 times...
    In [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=4590586]this post, Nick showed you how to get the Row.
    If it were so urgent, you could have done a little reading of the javadocs to come up with code like this (not tested, up to you to do that)
    HashMap m = new HashMap();
    Row r = get it like Nick showed you to;
    Object values[]=r.getAttributeValues();
    String names[]=r.getAttributeNames();
    for (int i=0; i<r.getAttributeCount(); i++)
    m.put(names, values[i]);

  • How to programmatically change the cell color of an ADF table ?

    Hi all,
    I have an ADF table with some fields on it. Depending on the value of a field named, say, "F1", I would like to change its background color.
    So far I can change the field color with this EL expression inside the InlineStyle table column property:
    font-size:medium; background-color:#{viewScope.myBean.setColor};
    where setColor is a bean function, in where I access the field "F1" via binding, parse its value, and return the right value - so far, so good.
    The bad thing is, the InlineStyle affects that field in all the rows of the table, while I would like to change only the field in the rows, which have that specific value in it.
    So for example having the rows:
    F1
    abc#1 ----> currently selected row
    cde#2
    efg#3
    I want to change the background color to all the F1 fields which have a "1" after the '#' and let the other "F1" row cells background color stay unchanged.
    But as you can imagine, the InlineStyle affect the "F1" background color in all the rows (assuming that the first row of the table is selected).
    So the question: how to access a single cell of a row in an ADF table, and programmatically change its background color ?
    So far I can iterate through the ADF table with:
    BindingContext bindingctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bindingctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCBindingContainer bindingsImpl = (DCBindingContainer) bindings;
    DCIteratorBinding dciter = bindingsImpl.findIteratorBinding("aTableIterator");//access the iterator by its ID value in the PageDef file
    RowSetIterator rsi = dciter.getRowSetIterator();
    System.out.println("rsi getrowcount = " rsi.getRowCount());+
    Row row = null;
    +if (rsi.getRowCount() > 0) {+
    row = rsi.getCurrentRow();
    System.out.println("row attr = " Arrays.toString(row.getAttributeNames()));+
    System.out.println("class : " row.getAttribute("F1").getClass().toString());+
    +}+
    +while (rsi.hasNext()) {+
    row = rsi.next();
    System.out.println("row attr = " Arrays.toString(row.getAttributeNames()));+
    +}+

    Sergio.

    Hi,
    I mean a specific cell within a row.
    Here are two pictures that show an ADF table with two rows and some fields on it:
    https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=7D3084D8BF755808&id=7D3084D8BF755808!107&sc=documents#cid=7D3084D8BF755808&id=7D3084D8BF755808!107&sc=documents
    bild_A is what I have, bild_B is what I would like. Note that:
    in bild_A the first row contain a yellow background color for the field F4 and an orange background color for the field F5. This is correct, because F4 has an "1" at the end of its string value, and F5 has a "3" at the end. So far so good.
    But the second row (again, bild_A) has also the fields F4 with yellow background color, and the field F5 with orange background color, even if the value in both fields is 0.
    What is should be, is shown in bild_B.
    The problem is that the solution provided affects all the cells of the column, while I need to change the background color of a single cell, and leave the other unchanged (see bild_B).
    I hope that clarify a bit :)

  • Problem with adf table when adding component in table column.

    Hi All,
    i am using jdev version 11.1.1.5.0.
    use case: i have created one adf table which is based on DC VO. now i have added one select one radio group component(which contain 4 radio button approved ,reject,back,None) in adf table.
    table have many rows for example in first row i have select approved and to next row i have select reject now when i get value of radio group in backing bean using component binding i got last selected value.(in that case reject).
    And second is that when i set radio button value for current row using binding like
    rb.setValue("R") then reject option selected for all rows.
    so my question is that-
    how can i get and set value of select one radio group in row level using component binding.

    Hi,
    I don't see a reason for not using a transient attribute for the radioGroup in your previous reply.
    Here is the example i tried.
                            <af:selectOneRadio label="#{bindings.DeptView1.hints.DeptnoRadio.label}" id="sor1"
                                    value="#{row.bindings.DeptnoRadio.inputValue}">
                                <af:selectItem label="A" value="A" id="si1"/>
                                <af:selectItem label="B" value="B" id="si2"/>
                                <af:selectItem label="C" value="C" id="si3"/>
                                <af:selectItem label="D" value="D" id="si4"/>
                                <af:selectItem label="E" value="E" id="si5" disabled="#{row.bindings.EnableDisable.inputValue}"/>
                            </af:selectOneRadio>Where DeptnoRadio is the transient attribute i've created (which will have some random values between A and E), and EnableDisable is another transient variable of boolean type which would return true or false based on some condition.
    Now, for every row, the value is different (and corresponding radio button is selected) and for a row, which matches the condition, the option E is disabled.

  • Fixed number of rows in ADF table

    Can we specify fixed number of rows for ADF table so even no rows displayed it will still show 10 empty rows.

    the rangesize property determines how many rows will be displayed and controls paging. If there are no rows to begin with (if I understand the question correctly) rangesize won't have any effect.

  • How  to retrieve a column field value from an ADF table ?

    All,
    I have a backing bean where I have bounded a field of an ADF table.
    I would like, in the bean, to read the value of that field so that I can use it inside a task flow router.
    The question: how to read a value from a ADF table column field ?
    In the bean I have the getter and setter of the RichInputText ADF table field. But when I type:
    System.out.println("the name is: " + this.getName().getValue());
    or
    System.out.println("the name is: " + this.Name().getValue());
    I get a null pointer exception.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sergio.

    Thanks Marvin, but this is not really what I'm looking for. Or at least, it does not sounds like to be :)
    I need to get the value contained in a row cell of an ADF table.
    Let's say the table (two rows, three cells) contains these values:
    "table_A", "123", "John"
    "table_B", "456", "Peter"
    When I click on the first row, I need the value: "table_A". Once I got that value, I extract the last char, in this case: "A", and then I call a specific task flow from a task flow router (specified in the task flow router Cases property).
    When I click on the second row, the same process applies, only the router now points to another flow view.
    So to summarize, I need to get the value of a row cell in an ADF table. How to do that from within a javaBean in JDeveloper 11g Release 2 ?
    This is what I have in the bean; so far I've bounded the related row cell (herkunft) to the bean. Each time I select a row on the ADF table, the function setHerkunft() runs - I see that from within the JDeveloper console - but when I try to get its value, I get a null value - hence the surrounding if statement.
    package bean;
    import javax.faces.component.UIComponent;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import javax.faces.event.ValueChangeEvent;
    import oracle.adf.view.rich.component.rich.input.RichInputText;
    +public class taskFlowBean {+
    public RichInputText herkunft;
    public static String taskFlowView = "C";
    +public taskFlowBean() {+
    System.out.println("taskFlowBean constructor call");
    +}+
    +public void setHerkunft(RichInputText herkunft) {+
    System.out.println("set herkunft");
    this.herkunft = herkunft;
    if (this.getHerkunft().getValue() != null )
    System.out.println("herkunft is: " + this.getHerkunft().getValue());
    +//here taskFlowView will set accordingly with the herkunft value.+
    +}+
    +public RichInputText getHerkunft() {+
    System.out.println("get herkunft");
    return herkunft;
    +}+
    +public String getTaskFlowView() {+
    System.out.println("get taskFlowView ! : " this.taskFlowView);+
    return this.taskFlowView;
    +}+
    +}+

    Sergio.

  • Is it possible to programaticaly change active row in ADF table?

    JDev 11.
    I have a table which is filled with data programaticaly.
    When I add new row, it appears in table and I want to make this row active automatically, so last insert row should become active.
    Is it possible?

    Hi Julian, thanks for your response, but your example is different from my case
    My source:
    public String SaveCompany() {
    // get company details from input fields
    GetCompanyDetails();
    // save changes to DB
    SaveCompanyToDB(com);
    //refresh company list
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(table);
    return null;
    I'am adding new entry into DB and I want to populate table after that action, and automatically select that new row (new row should become lighted).
    I have found that there is a atribute First(), I have tried to use it, but it didnt help.
    So question is, does ADF table have atribute to define active table row from code?
