Newbie trying to run JUnit sample

Hi All
I'm learning java with a view to replacing ColdFusion with J2EE back ends for the Flex apps that I create.
At the moment I am trying to create a JUnit test harness for my sample model class.
I am trying to run the sample maths class that is included in the download.
If I try this command:
(please note I have most likely got the package name and syntax slightly wrong as I am doing this from memory as I am at work not home)
java junit.samples.maths.TestAll
I got an error as I had expected. I thin try:
java -classpath ../junit-4.4.jar junit.samples.maths.testAll
this time I get another unexpected result:
NoClassDefFoundError
I am getting the same problem in my very simple test class that at the moment is just a Hello World class that extends TestCase. it compiles fine (so it obviously found the TestCase class) but again can't run.
What am I doing wrong? I appreciate that you might need more details but I can't give them just yet.
Can I put the junit-4.4.jar somewhere within my JDK directory so that I don't need to add a classpath argument to compile / run?
Sorry for the basic questions, I hope someone can help.
Thanks
Giles

Thanks for that. I'm slightly confused by the -callspath argument in your example:
".;./juni4.4.jar"
Looking at the docs this seems to be saying the current directory AND the jar. If I remove the .; at the start it doesn't work. Is this because it overrides the default ( just ".") and just looks in the jar and then doesn't find the AllTests class that I am trying to run?
Many thanks

    Did anybody face this problem with this sample? Can somebody help me out
    with this. I am also looking for some basic ways of developing a PIP using
    Rosettanet. Is there is any site that gives such information. I have seen
    the BEA site on rosettanet. That does not help me.

    Hi,
    the problem seems not to be within your application but in missing files on your embedded OC4J. Just try and unzip the JDeveloper 10.1.3 install again.

    Hi.
    I`ve downloaded the Virtual Private Database using JSP's example from the Oracle9iAS Security - Sample Corner (http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/deploy/security/9i_security.html)
    I ran the SQL script just fine. Ive Opened the JDeveloper Flile (security.jws) and tried to Make it (following step 2 on "Run the Application using JDeveloper Environmentinstructions" in the README ) but i get this error:

    It seems that i need the web.xml to run this application, but in the zip file i cannot find any XML file.
    What can i do?.

    No idea what OraTst is, but based upon the name of your data source, I'd guess you are an Oracle employee using an internal framework. I understand that there are some internal Oracle forums that you can use.

  • Error while running a sample code

    Hello,
    I 'm getting the following error while i'm trying to run a
    sample code which I have imported into Flex 3.
    ===================================================================

    ===================================================================
    Can anyone help me in resolving this issue.
    Many thanks in advance.

    It's very frustrating that FB stops working when the libs
    folder is missing. If you are checking in project files to a source
    control app like Perforce, empty folders don't get added, so if you
    don't add an initial dummy file, the next time you do a clean sync,
    the libs folder may not be there, and even though there is nothing
    there, FB complains. :-(

  • Trying to run an MBean on OCMS

    Hello
    I am trying to run a sample MBean on the OCMS server. The sample being run is "JMX Essentials" found at the following link...
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/jmx/examples.html
    However, I am not sure how should I deploy this MBean to the em. Can someone please guide me?
    Thanks
    A

    Hello
    I am not able to see the MBean in EM. Here are the steps I followed...
    My application is called "basicresponse", which is deployed using eclipse SCE onto OCMS.
    Within, I have the following files in the com.example.mbeans package...
    1. HelloMBean.java //interface
    2. Hello.java //implementation
    3. Main.java //registering program
    My orion-application.xml file, found in the application_deployments folder within OCMS, is as follows...
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <orion-application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/orion-application-10_0.xsd"
    deployment-version="10.1.3.1.1" default-data-source="jdbc/OracleDS" component-
    classification="external"
    schema-major-version="10" schema-minor-version="0" >
         <web-module id="basicresponse" path="basicresponse.war" />
         <persistence path="persistence" />
         <principals path="principals.xml" />
         <jazn provider="XML" />
         <log>
              <file path="application.log" />
         </log>
    <jmx-mbean objectname=":type=Application,name=Hello"
    class="com.example.mbeans:Hello">
    <description>My First MBean</description>
    </jmx-mbean>
    </orion-application>
    NOTE: I have NOT created any jar file for the above classes, do I need to create one? Eclipse has the basicresponse.ear and .war files already made.
    If yes, where and how do I package it?
    Also, my MBean registration program, ie. Main.java , is as follows...
    /* Main.java - main class for Hello World example. Create the
    HelloWorld MBean, register it, then wait forever (or until the
    program is interrupted). */
    package com.example.mbeans;
    import javax.management.MBeanServer;
    import javax.management.MBeanServerFactory;
    import javax.management.ObjectName;
    public class Main {
    /* For simplicity, we declare "throws Exception". Real programs
    will usually want finer-grained exception handling. */
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
         try
         // Get a reference to the MBeanServer
         MBeanServer m = MBeanServerFactory.newMBeanServer();
         // Create the MBean instance
         Hello bean = new Hello();
         //Construct the MBean name using the default application's domain name
         ObjectName beanName= new ObjectName(m.getDefaultDomain()+
         ":type=Hello,name=Hello");
         // Register the MBean with the MBeanServer
         m.registerMBean(bean, beanName);
         } catch(Exception e)
         // Handle exceptions; for simplicity, dump the stack trace to show any
         // errors that occur
         e.printStackTrace();
         // Wait forever
         System.out.println("Waiting forever...");
         Thread.sleep(Long.MAX_VALUE);
    Please guide me.
    Thanks,
    AJ

    Check this support document for update and restore errors. Resolve iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support
    Looks like that can be a hardware error, but go ahead and follow the other steps in the document.

  • Problem running the sample adf demo

    Hi,
    I'm a new user of JDeveloper and trying to use ADF Faces.
    I followed the instructions to setup ADF faces in JDeveloper.
    While trying to run the sample demo provided(adffacesdemo), I get the following error messages
    Error: "http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" is not a registered TLD namespace.
    Error: Unable to load taghandler class: http://java.sun.com/jsf/core
    Error: "http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/EA14/html" is not a registered TLD namespace.
    and many more errors of this sort.
    Now I have managed to succesfully run JSF applications in JDeveloper without using ADF faces. No problems with that.
    I have no clue as to why these errors are coming.
    Any help is appreciated.

    I'm gussing you installed OCEP in an existing ORACLE_HOME. You should create a new home otherwise the modules may conflict with other products.
