Error trying to run a sample master-detail JSF form in Jdev 10.1.3
I've tried JDeveloper 10.1.3 folowing a tutorial , master-detail one , involving Adf Faces which I found it here http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/e2ebcfaces/buildmaster-detailpagewithjdevandadfbc.htm.
1. I dowloaded JDeveloper 10.1.3
2. I made -in Jdeveloper- a connection to OE8 schema
2. I created an application with web application template ; in my new workspace i had 2 projects Model and ViewController
3. In model i choose Business Tier - ADF Bussiness Components - Business Components from Tables and I followed instructions in tutorial
4. In ViewController I created Web Tier - JSF - JSF JSP , with the JSF-JSP wizard a jsp page browseCustomerOrders.jsp. For building a master detail form i folowed instructions in tutorial
However ...
5. When I tried to run i received ....

Hi,
the problem seems not to be within your application but in missing files on your embedded OC4J. Just try and unzip the JDeveloper 10.1.3 install again.

Error trying to run the Sample Code Virtual Private Database using JSP's
Hi.
I`ve downloaded the Virtual Private Database using JSP's example from the Oracle9iAS Security - Sample Corner (http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/deploy/security/9i_security.html)
I ran the SQL script just fine. Ive Opened the JDeveloper Flile (security.jws) and tried to Make it (following step 2 on "Run the Application using JDeveloper Environmentinstructions" in the README ) but i get this error:
Error: unable to copy to output directory, web.xml not found
It seems that i need the web.xml to run this application, but in the zip file i cannot find any XML file.
What can i do?.
Thanks in advance for your helpHi,

Cannot install Sample Master Detail (Packaged Application)
When trying to install the Sample Master Detail packaged application
on the new APEX.Oracle.com (running Application Express 4.2.0.00.22),
I'm getting an error.
After selecting it from the Packaged Applications page, and clicking the "Install Application" button
on the Application Builder/Packaged Applications/Sample Master Detail/Install screen,
I get the following:
Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-00001: unique constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES_IDX1) violated
declare
h varchar2(32767) := null;

p_flow_id=>wwv_flow.g_flow_id,

p_message_language=>'en',
p_message_text=>h);
null;
end;
ORA-00001: unique constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES_IDX1) violated
I tried in a workspace that had some existing applications, and a colleague tried
in a new workspace that had just been allocated by APEX.Oracle.com.
I was able to successfully install the Sample Data Loading application after trying to install
the Sample Master Detail packaged application.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks in advance!

972-560-3759 WorkHi Ricky,
Thanks for raising this issue. The reported issue impacts the installation of the Sample Dialog and Sample Master Details packaged applications on this instance. We've logged bug 14749720 to track it, have identified a solution and hope to have it applied to this instance during the next instance update.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Newbie trying to run JUnit sample
Hi All
I'm learning java with a view to replacing ColdFusion with J2EE back ends for the Flex apps that I create.
At the moment I am trying to create a JUnit test harness for my sample model class.
I am trying to run the sample maths class that is included in the download.
If I try this command:
(please note I have most likely got the package name and syntax slightly wrong as I am doing this from memory as I am at work not home)
java junit.samples.maths.TestAll
I got an error as I had expected. I thin try:
java -classpath ../junit-4.4.jar junit.samples.maths.testAll
this time I get another unexpected result:
NoClassDefFoundError
I am getting the same problem in my very simple test class that at the moment is just a Hello World class that extends TestCase. it compiles fine (so it obviously found the TestCase class) but again can't run.
What am I doing wrong? I appreciate that you might need more details but I can't give them just yet.
Can I put the junit-4.4.jar somewhere within my JDK directory so that I don't need to add a classpath argument to compile / run?
Sorry for the basic questions, I hope someone can help.
Thanks
GilesThanks for that. I'm slightly confused by the -callspath argument in your example:
".;./juni4.4.jar"
Looking at the docs this seems to be saying the current directory AND the jar. If I remove the .; at the start it doesn't work. Is this because it overrides the default ( just ".") and just looks in the jar and then doesn't find the AllTests class that I am trying to run?
Many thanks -

Did anybody face this problem with this sample? Can somebody help me out
with this. I am also looking for some basic ways of developing a PIP using
Rosettanet. Is there is any site that gives such information. I have seen
the BEA site on rosettanet. That does not help me.

Did anybody face this problem with this sample? Can somebody help me
out
with this. I am also looking for some basic ways of developing a PIP
using
Rosettanet. Is there is any site that gives such information. I have
seen
the BEA site on rosettanet. That does not help me.

ADF Master Detail entry form issue
Hi All,
I am new to JDeveloper and I am creating a Master Detail entry form. I have separate buttons to create master records and detail records in Master and Detail sections respectively. After completing data entry in Master portion, when I hit the create button to create a line in detail, it removes data from the last field of master which is a "description" field. I haven't write any custom code yet. How can I fix this?
Help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
CAHHi,
Thanks for your reply and links to the tutorials.
I have changed the default binding to CreateInsert from Create. Unlike in the sample application in the links, my form is editable at both the levels. Apart from the clearing out the description field, it clears out the list items I have defined at Detail level when I create second or greater record. It works fine for the first record at Detail level. And as I mentioned, I have not written any custom code anywhere.
Any clue will be a great help.
Thanks,

Is it possible to create a Master-Master-Detail JClient Form?
Hi,
I've been trying to create a Master-Master-Detail JClient Form, where both master-values will be displayed in a seperated drop-down-list.
First I've tested this with a single Master-Detail (is it correct, that a single drop-down-list, working as master will not work with LoV-Binding!?) - However, the combobox-model must be set to Navigation-Binding...
After adding another combobox (the second master), and testing the result, it seems that the detail-table only corresponds to the selection of the first master.
The problem with LoV-Binding was, that the drop-down-list starts with the value at ID '0' (which doesn't exists) instead of '1'...
The Question is, how can I create a Master-Master-Detail JClient Form!?
thanks,
hubiHi,
I've been trying to create a Master-Master-Detail JClient Form, where both master-values will be displayed in a seperated drop-down-list.
First I've tested this with a single Master-Detail (is it correct, that a single drop-down-list, working as master will not work with LoV-Binding!?) - However, the combobox-model must be set to Navigation-Binding...That's true for navigation as you want to use the Combo as the navigator for the Master VO iterator. Lov Binding is used to "update" certain attributes based on selection. You are trying to drive the detail rowset for a selected master and NavigationBinding is the appropriate binding for this purpose.
After adding another combobox (the second master), and testing the result, it seems that the detail-table only corresponds to the selection of the first master.That's the behavior you get from the default data model.
The Question is, how can I create a Master-Master-Detail JClient Form!?First you need to create a ViewUsage structure that implements Master-master-detail. This is not allowed by Bc4j wizards. However you can create such a structure at runtime by using createViewLink method on the ApplicationModule to link the "second" master with the detail (same VO as the first Master's detail).
Assuming both the comboboxes are bound to individual Master VOs using NavigationBinding, you should now be able to traverse the details using both ComboBoxes (which represent the master). -
Master details report/form
Hi Friends,
I want to create a Master-Detail report/form.
I have one Master Table and it has 3 Detail tables.
Example:
Master Table: Members
Detail Tables: Contributions
Loans
Benefit ClaimsI want to show when I click on a specific Member in the report edit , I can make entry/update to all
the 3 detail tables. And not going each entry separately.
Is this design requirement good?
Thanks a lotYou can look here on how to create multiple detail tables:

Where can i find any source code of master detail java form without using BC4J?
Gawish,
JSP and Applets are kind of exluding the other. If you don't like to use BC4J, you can use all kind of technologies like EJB or POJOs. ADF will work the same for the two technologies when building user interfaces. See otn.oracle.com/products/jdev for tutorials and how-to.

JAHANGIRHi,
Because you're using a composite key with more than 2 columns you'll need to create a view of each table with a ROWID column and use those as your primary keys. Either that or add a new column to the table for each entry.

Can anybody tell me what is going wrong?
I have done every thing that is instructed in the deployment guide of the jsf1.1 release
It says jsf1.1 is tested on a 1.3 jvm and there is no reason why the sample wont run on j2ee 1.3 container
It is running fine on tomcat 4.1.29(j2ee 1.3 container)
So what is wrong with oc4j? or is it an oc4j problem?
Please help?
ThxFigured out the problem
U have to add the following entry in <web-app> section of web.xml
<listener>
<listener-class>
com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener
</listener-class>

But another one comes up
