NI Configuration Manager: Insufficient disk space to perform backup

Hi,
I'm having an issue with my PXI-8110 controller running LabVIEW Real-Time 10.0.1.  On start-up, I receive a message is displayed saying "NI Configuration Manager: Insufficient disk space to perform a backup"  This message just appeared.  Upon starting an FTP session I was able to see that there is only 181 megs of data on the hard drive.  In MAX, when I view the system settings of the remote PXI controller, it says that there are 0 bytes available.  I'm not sure why this is the case.  I'm not able to deploy any Veristand projects to the controller as a result.  Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks,
Cosimo

Hello WillPwr,
I have now had 2 different systems develop this exact error.  After the first occurrence, I assumed that it was a problem with the HD and replaced it.  Now, I am starting to worry that there may be an issue with the file management routines in LabVIEW RT.  I understand how to fix the issue, but do you have any idea of what causes the issue.  In my application, I create a temporary file to store DAQ data then save the data to a log file.  After a test is complete, the log file is transferred to a "Host" computer and the process is started again by the user when they initiate a new test.  My question: can the continuous creating and deleting of temporary files be causing the file management in the RT system to become corrupt?
It is annoying for a customer to have to go through the process of formatting the hard drive and re-installing the software.  Not to mention that it makes the software appear to have issues...  Which it may have, but I have been very careful to close and open new files as to not develop open file references.
Any Thoughts?
Big Ev.

  • PXI-1031 Realtime no longer working with labview. "Insufficient disk space to perform backup"

The realtime labview project was working until a couple weeks ago and the only error that is being shown on the PXI is this error message.
"NI Configuration Manager: Insufficient disk space to perform backup" Everything before that looks like it's starting up just fine. I recently removed the hard drive and deleted the 4gb network log file because it seemed that a 4gb file on a fat32 file system was probably causing the problem. After doing this the project worked when I tested it but others in my lab said that it was broken again the next day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm not all that familiar with the equipment.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In this situation, we actually want the PXI controller to be in safe mode. When the controller is reformatted, it will stay in safe mode until the proper software has been installed. Software installation is done from within safe mode, so being stuck there is a good thing.
The networking issues you’re seeing are independent of the controller being in safe mode. Most likely, the network settings were not retained during the reformatting, and your computer needs to reconnect with the device. First, make sure that your computer is set to obtain its IP address automatically. In Windows 7, this can be configured by going to the Network and Sharing Center and clicking on Change adapter settings. From there, right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) and click Properties. In this Window, make sure that Obtain an IP address automatically is selected.
Once this is configured, remove your PXI controller from the chassis and flip the IP reset switch to ON. Put the controller back in the chassis and connect the PXI directly to your computer via an Ethernet cable. When you turn your PXI chassis back on, the chassis and computer should find each other and configure themselves to be on the same subnet. From there, you can set your desired network settings and install the necessary software.
If this doesn’t work, the next step would be to check for any firewalls or antivirus that may be running. These could potentially interfere and block communication.

how do i lower the data witdow in ACS view?
    thanks in adv
    Antero

    Hi
the problem is solved now, i've openned a TAC and the cisco Guy told me how to solve it.
in summary you need to have root access to ACS and then erase de acsview database and put a clean one.
my acsview db has grown to 175GB., this was caused by  the misconfiguration of acsview database doesn't being backuped and the  purgin was, in this case, not being also done.
so Brian if you hav e the same problem then you need to open a TAC case.

Please can you help with the location of the TEMP folder and which temporary files to delete (file type/extension). Each of the these folders include an "Adobe" Folder. Each "Adobe" folder size is less than 1MB.

  • Error: Insufficient disk space & file write permissions

when my client edits a page and the click save i get the following error:
the permissions for the includes folder are 755.
I dont have this problem on other websites however and they are setup the same way.

I am having the identical problem this week with incontext editing of a website I could edit fine last week with incontext editing but this week I cannot save changes to any page I try to edit, even though I've not made any changes to the site in the week since.
If I Edit one page and try to save the changes, I get one of two errors:
"The operation could not be performed because a problem occured while attempting to connect to the server. Please check your connection and try again."
    or
"The operation could not be performed because there is insufficient disk space or the file write permission is not granted."
I then went to the Incontext editing control panel, Manage Users, Configure Site and there I can click Test Connection and it reports it can successfully connect to the site using FTP. But when I try to Save that Configure Site (even though I've made no changes except to click Test Connection) I get two different errors each time I try...
The first error reported was the unable to connect to the server error.
"The operation could not be performed because a problem occured while attempting to connect to the server. Please check your connection and try again."
    or
"Configure Site Error. An FTP error occurred. A test file could not be copied to the specified Host Directory. Your FTP user may not have sufficient permissions to access the folder and/or its content."
I am 100% certain there is no problem on the server with insufficient disk space or file permissions, so this is an incorrect error message being reported by InContext Editing. I can connect to the site and make and save changes with Dreamweaver with the identical FTP settings. This site is on a server at GoDaddy that has plenty of disk space and I can see that all the permissions on site folders are set correctly.
At this point I have a very frustrated client who is anxious to edit web pages but cannot.

  • Insufficient disk space aperture library

Hello, today I can't import my iphoto photos because "insufficient disk space aperture library" But my hard disk is not full... What can I do?
    Thanks for the answers
    Enrico

    Enrico-
In post #2 above I noted that all *hard drives should be less than 70% full.* That is important for speed and stability. Don't try to do anything until <70% full is achieved for all drives.
The Aperture Library should live on the internal drive for best speed.
With a 298 GB Library you are probably currently using Aperture's (unfortunately default) Managed-Masters setup, which invariably leads to overfilled hard drives on single-drive boxes.
To get to less than 70% full you can move 300+ GB of data off of the internal drive - but as you add more images your Aperture Library will continue to grow and again overfill the internal hard drive.
Best solution (after you achieve minimum 30% free space on all drives) is to reconfigure your image Masters to have a *Referenced-Masters Library* on the internal drive with the Masters referenced on external drives. After a slow reconfiguration process it will work fine, your speed and operation will be recovered and the Referenced-Masters Library will remain a reasonable size, not again grow to overfill the internal drive.
Note that Vaults back up the Library but a Referenced-Masters Library does not have the Masters in it, so Masters must be separately backed up. *I very strongly recommend that back up of original Master files be performed BEFORE importing into Aperture.*
    Good luck!

  • Adobe Creative Suite 4 Error "Paused-Insufficient Disk Space!" Help!

    Hi guys,
I am downloading the Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS4 Trial Version and everything went well until the time I downloaded 4 GB out of 5.43 GB. The Akamai Download Manager said: "Paused - Insufficient Disk Space!" I don't know why this would happen. I restarted the Download Manager a couple of times, but they came up with the same error. I don't know what to do! I am installing it on an external hard drive, maybe thats the problem. On my Local Disk I have 9 GB left, so I turned to my external drive, which had 445 GB, but after downloading the 4 GB, has 440 GB left. Can anyone please help me? Attached is a pic of what the error looks like. All help would be highly appreciated.

  • Why am I getting a message "Insufficient Disk Space"

I installed a new hard drive yesterday, and used Time Machine to restore all the information from my old hard drive.  Today I tried to open iPhoto and had a message that it was not found so I used the install disk for iPhoto and reinstalled.  I have my former iPhoto Library, but when I try to import new photos from my desk top, I get the message "Insufficient Disk Space" "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library".  I don't understand since I have 354 GB available on my hard drive. What do I need to do to fix?

That's an indication that the library is damaged. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Insufficient disk space-render mgr empty tho

    Hi,
I have a 68 minute project which I edited. I took some time off from the project and came back and looked at it and also started editing a trailer for the same film. When I went to render either one I get this message "render error-insufficient disk space". I go to the render manager and it is empty.
I seem to recall changing the settings for the scratch disk after I completed the long project because I thought for future projects those settings were project specific but I realize that is probably not the case and probably part of my problem. How can I find the old render files without the use of the render mgr or somehow assign new places to render? I tried checking one of the video render boxes(scratch disk settings) for a different internal hard drive and then re-trying rendering but the render mgr was still empty. I could try more places?
I will say up front that my files for rendering are all over the place due to my teaching myself FCP as I worked and then each time I take months off I forget many things because I learn under the stress of the moment and then when I burn out and take a break most of my medium level editing knowledge of FCP goes away. I need to learn the underlying good practices for the future but it is hard when you have self taught and are really a director, editing out of necessity.
Enough self pity-anyone have any ideas? I searched several pages back in the archives and found a similar entry but it seems my situation is different.
    thanks,

Of course, there is the occasional problem of the renders going into the FCP program file itself.
This seems to happen occasionally when someone removes their usual scratch disk and does not replace it with anything else. With the target folder unavailable, FCP decides to dump all the render files inside the FCP.app folder.
Check your system disk free space and the size of FCP.app. Depending on how many localized versions you have installed, it shouldn't be much more than 400 MB or so.

  • Insufficient disk space on Aperture Library volume to import iphoto library

3 Importing iphoto library to Aperture questions:
    (1) Finally switching to Aperture because too many photos to manage in iphoto. When importing iphoto library it gives me the message: Insufficient DIsk Space - "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need an additional 83GB of free space."
The photos are all on an external drive which has 150GB free space. I also tried moving the aperture library to another hard drive which has lots of free space. I want the Aperture library to reside on the external drive so I can share it between my laptop and desktop.
I tried this at the apple store and it was going to work. I came home and it now says it needs 125GB free space. Is this a function of which computer you use to import the library? What can I do because I can't spend hours at the apple store if it may take that long to import all the photos from the library.
    (2) Is there an optimum way to import a large library, rather than all at once?
(3)Used iphoto manager to create a project library from an iphoto library. Now have 2 good libraries to import, one with about 35k photos, the other with about 8k. The 8k will have some duplicates from the larger one. When I import that one I don't want to import duplicates, but do want to retain the organization and labeling of those duplicates in terms of which albums and events they are in. Is that possible?
    Thanks!

Or use Aperture's built-in and suggested way to deal with the problem of a Library outgrowing your system drive: make many of your Image's Originals referenced rather than managed.
Aperture lets you store any Image's Original on any locally-mounted drive.  Moving your Image's Originals from inside your Library (in which case they are "managed") to outside the Library (in which case they are "referenced") is easy -- as it moving them back.
The two main complications that arise from using Referenced Originals are:
    - you must back up your Referenced Originals in addition to backing up your Library.  Backing up your Library _does not_ back up your Referenced Originals
    - you must not make any changes to your Referenced Originals with any program other than Aperture.  _Do not_ use Finder to move, rename, etc.

  • Erroneous "insufficient disk space" error with WaveStudio 7

This has been bugging me for over 2 years. I get the "Insufficient disk space" error with Vista x32 and x64 and now with Windows 7 x64 when I've edited a wav file and then try to save it. I have plenty of disk space.
I've searched till I'm blue in the face but cannot find an answer and am tired of the lame work-around. I know how to copy and paste the entire edited wav into another file and then save it. It's annoying, but it works. What gets me is why is this not fixed?
Running CTWave.exe as administrator does not work. Running in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode does not work.
I have been a faithful Creative Labs user for more years than I care to remember, but this one is shaking my faith. Is there anybody who can explain why this happens, or offer a fix?
Many thanks and keep on rockin',
    Dave

You may wish to try these steps in order to solve your issue:
    1. Make sure your computer has the latest Java runtime. To do this, just google search "Download Java", go to the first URL and download that free software. This step should solve most of the "insufficient disk space" problems.
    2. If step 1 failed to work, you can open "My computer", right click on the hard disk you were trying to write your files into. From the "File System" tab, check to see it's "NTFS" but not "FAT32".
    3. If the above two steps do not work, try creating a new partition from your primary hard disk. To do this, click "Start" -> then right click "My Computer" -> "Manage" -> "Disk Management" -> Make sure you shrink a new volume for at least 50 GB to 100 GB free disk space, again please have the NTFS file system. Once you successfully created this new partition, do a format then try writing your music files onto this Disk.
    4. I think the above 3 steps are able to solve your issue. However, there's a bug I found sometime back when Win 7 first released. You can try creating a "temp" folder in your primary system drive, writing any files in there should have no problem as long as disk space is sufficient.
    5. I certainly do not hope that error was caused by your anti-virus programme, but if all failed, you may want to consider temporarily disable your anti-virus software, and if everything works fine, you might want to switch to a new anti-virus programme.
    Cheers.

I have edited most of the JPEG files with PE4. Could this be causing the trouble?
Possibly. Check your Edit->Color Setting menu window and see if you've got color management turn one. Mine looks like this. If it's not set to manage then some of those files may not have a profile. To correct this you can either reedit each and save to embed the profile or, much easier, download the Automator application "Embed sRGB Profile" from Toad's Cellar, unzip and drag the original files that need it onto it. It will automatically embed the profile.
Were the files you tried to export the same as before or a new bunch? Had then been editied?
