NI Server Explorer Attempts to Start When a 3rd Party OPC Server is Referenced

I am using Labview with a third party (Siemens) OPC server.
On one PC the Labview application (which uses a data socket to read OPC items from the Siemens OPC server) works without any problem.
On another PC the same Labview application opens a window/dialog looking for the NI Server Explorer. It does not find it and leaves the PC in a endless loop while I try to cancel.
I can not understand why one PC is behaving differently from the other?
Both PCs are running the same Windows XP operating system, both are running the same Siemen's OPC server, but are running the same Labview application.
How can I troubleshoot this issue?
I have attached the Labview application for reference.

hi there,
please compare the settings of all NI-related services and check for firewalls on both machines.
btw.: if you have LV >6.1 i suggest o use the DataSocket functions. this should improve performance of your app a lot (see attachment. not tested!!). can you see the url defined in the vi when you open the URL-Browser "DataSocket Select URL.vi"?

FCP 7 freezes when loading 3rd party Audiofilters

Hi there,
as said in the subject, I can't get FCP 7 to run, because it freezes on start-up, while loading UAD audio filters. I can't even quit it then, only option is to re-boot the Mac.
Now I have two questions:
1) is it possible to de-activate 3rd party plug-ins in FCP, especially the audio ones? I never use them anyway with FCP...
2) is it possible to force FCP during the start to ignore any 3rd party plug-ins? Like starting Logic with ctrl button held down gives you the option to start with or without core audio. Ctrl button on FCP didn't seem to work.
Regarding the UAD plug-ins: I also have Logic 9 installed, together with a Powercore and 2 UAD PCie cards. All 3 work fine with Logic. And they did work fine with FCP (as described in the next paragraph), even though I never used them for video, so I'd be fine if de-activating is possible.
In detail:
This is a totally fresh system here, everything's installed from scratch just a few days ago, no copy&paste involved. I made a big mistake lately, upgrading to 10.6, which brought me tons of trouble, i.e. kernel panics with the Powercore card. Finally I simply removed my main hard disk, bought a brand new one, installed the original 10.5.4 system, run the combo upgrade back to 10.5.8 and installed all applications again.
Everything works perfectly, all audio troubles in Logic are gone, system works fine again, my CS4 suite runs smoothly and now I tried to start FCP for the very first time and .. nope.. Funny enough I get an UAD message telling me I haven't used my UAD plug-ins in a while and asking me to confirm my computer clock settings. After clicking ok FCP loads another 2 UAD plug-ins and freezes. Actually I did use the UAD plug-ins in Logic only 10 min before. All fine.
Regarding compatibility - FCP did work with UAD before I upgraded my system to 10.6. And it did work with 10.6. Only reason to go back to 10.5.8 was the Logic/Powercore drama. And yes, I did check user permissions, did re-boot with apple-alt-p-r, etc. etc.
So if anybody has an idea, what the problem could be or if there is a way to navigate around, i.e. avoiding the plug-ins, I'd really appreciate this!!

thank you for the link, I downloaded the app but even though the concept sounds good, it didn't really work. When I try to de-activate any plug-in I only get error alerts.
But now I downloaded a new authorization file from UA, re-authorized and voilà - FCP is happy and running. Loading tons of plug-ins I don't need but back in business and running. Seems like I paniced too early.

How does one create product keys when developing 3rd party Addons

DOes anyone have experience in developing 3rd party addons? How do you manage liscense keys, is there a function module which can generate the key?
and buildingin a expiry date so that a customer can note hack a table entry to continue?

woodwing seems to have a nice toolset to make it easier for sure... but I'm not sure that is the correct direction for
us. As we don't want to have to submit anything to Apple. Our needs are for internal use only and we would not be creating content for the public.
I don't follow the ePup process fully... PDF's we can load right onto the iPad. It's a real shame about flash not working as we can make some very slick flash content right out of indesign with little effort. (maybe the direction should be a Flash to HTML5 converter? Goto page commands assigned to buttons would be wonderfull if they worked but when you export the doc to PDF Acrobat complains that it is not compatible. When we export to flash it works like a charm on a PC.
Haven't found a good gudie for bookmarks yet... and if that would give us buttons on each page to move the user back and forth through the document.

Logic crash when loading 3rd party space designer preset

I am having problems loading 3rd party space designer presets in a specific project. When I load the presets in a new song there is no problem. I would like to use the presets in this specific project, so maybe somebody knows a solution.
I already tried system maintenance like
- running the regular cron scripts
- repairing permissions
- removing the logic preferences file
My setup:

- 4 GB DDR SDRAM

A quick update: logic crashes in more cases now. Last time I was working on volume automation in the arrange window.

No video stream when calling 3rd party endpoint from Jabber client

I use my own H323 client based on the H323Plus open source. It works very well with VCS and all endpoints we tried (a dozen or so from every vendor). We have a problem with Jabber Video though, across all versions from MOVI to 4.4.3. When my own client calls Jabber everything works as it should. However, when Jabber calls my client then (1) it takes up to a minute for Jabber to display incoming video and (2) Jabber does not create outgoing video stream. This behavior is 100% reproducible across all PCs we tried. Jabber is registered with either VCS Starter Pack or VCS Control, sofwtare version 6.1 in both cases. We do not use provisioning at this time.
In Jabber logs there is a unclear hint about insufficient resources (bandwidth?) for the video stream. VCS configuration is fine (it works with all other clients like e20) and I do not see anything useful in VCS logs.
To narrow the discussion, this is NOT a firewall, client camera or driver, OS misconfiguration or any other external issue. It is Jabber video having problem negotiating capabilities and/or resources but only it initiates the call. Where should I look for a solution?

Audio works fine, no problem at all. The video packets are not sent from my client to Jabber while in the 1 minute wait; the stream from Jabber is not even started. I still think I need Wireshark to decode H225 traffic. Good idea with the interworking log - I was too lazy to go the OS layer. As you surely know, only 2 of the VCS logs are available from the Web interface.

Notmad Explorer? Any Opinions For This 3rd Party Softwa

I've heard some terrific reviews for Notmad Explorer, what do you guys think?
Is it better than MediaSource, WMP0?

ebsameer: A practical example: I was recently teaching my wife how to use my NJB3 which is on permanent loan to her. She tried both MediaSource and Notmad Explorer, and prefers Notmad.
Of course what you prefer may well vary. There's a free trial of Notmad so you can get some feel for it, as it's quite different from MediaSource. I think where Notmad comes into its own is it's easy-to-use interface, which is much like working with files and folders in Windows Explorer. Also it has some killer playlist features: the ability to add tracks directly to an existing playlist with a right-click, playlist sorting and randomising, playlist duplicate track removal, and audiomorph playlists.
I remember when Notmad was released (3 or so years ago), and a huge number of users were saying "Creative, just buy Notmad and ship it with the players!".
There are those who say why spend anything on more software? Well simply because the software has more features and is more pleasant to use. Plus Notmad is hardly "break the bank" software. But there's a free trial and if you don't like it, don't buy it

Hi TalktoWolf, I don't see anything especially unusual about the blog. Have you noticed any problems with Flash media on other sites?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
2. Remove your tvo.org cookies in this dialog:
right-click this page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the box at the top of the dialog, change mozilla.org to tvo.org and remove those cookies
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

3rd attempt was successful after removing 3rd party ram-G5 powermac 2.7 liq

2nd attempt was to place it on another drive, failed, but it ate many gigs of space. I need to rem that somehow.
I did an archive and install on the 3rd and probably last attempt because each try ate space and I was nearly full.

Windows XP Pro doesn't recognise iPOD when in 3rd party Docking Station

Hi All. My iPOD is brand new. If I use the syncing cable that came with it, everything works fine. However If use the 'Logic3' docking station (uses a standard USB cable) or the 'Gear4' docking station (standard ipod cable connects to female socket in rear of dock)I experience the following problems:-
Logic3 - lots of disk light activity but iTunes locks up and the iPOD does NOT appear in iTUNES
Gear4 - lots of disk light activity, iPOD appears in iTunes but I get an error message suggesting iPOD is corrupted and I can't sync any tunes
If I try a different USB port it makes no difference. If I disconnect them and go back to using the simple iPOD syncing cable everything is fine.
It makes me think it must be an iPOD problem as neither 3rd party dockig stations work properly.
I've contacted each Manufacturer of the each Dock, but they can't offer any help apart from suggesting I should update my iTunes software. I had already made sure this was up-to-date
Anyone got any ideas on what might be the problem?

I think it might be the other way around. If it works fine with the Apple cable, but there are problems with the third party one, then the problem seems to be with the 3rd party stuff, right?
I've only used speakers w/ a dock (not something that was also hooked up to the `puter) so I can't address your problem directly. There's been a lot of weirdness with the new iTunes, and since your iPod is new I'm thinking these manufacturers aren't up to speed on what changes have been made. Just a guess brother.
BTW, are the docking stations new? I googled "Logic3 docking station" and it came up discontinued.

I've installed 9.2.0 on HP-UX 11i and created an instance using dbca taking the defaults. Next I created the OMS repository in this instance. There were no errors with either installation.
When I initially received the these errors (see "oms.nohup" log below) I created public rollback segments in a tablespace other than system after researching the errors in Metalink. But even after adding the rollback segments when I attempt to start OMS I continue to get the following in the "oms.nohup" log. Has anyone seen/solved this error before?

I am getting the same error on Sun OS 9.0 .
OMS was fine until this morning since I configured it two days ago. Now I cant get it to start because of

Web calendar interfase not started when starting http server

Hi, I installed CS succesfully, the calendar server is working fine.
My problem is that the web interfase is not started when starting the HTTP server.
I checked the log files of the http server and I saw this:

You will have to report this problem to the Oracle Support organization.
They will most probably want to see your web configuration file, the httpd.conf, as well as the appropriate logs.

iTunes is no longer syncing my iPhoto library to my iPhone 4. Everything was syncing fine when I first got the phone, but, over the past week or so, it's stopped syncing photos.
Now, after attempting to start from scratch by deleting all the photos on my iPhone, iTunes won't sync ANY photos from iPhoto back to my iPhone. I've restarted my phone, computer, etc., force quit all photo-related apps on my iPhone, and tried various combinations of turning iTunes' photo syncing on/off, switching photo sync folders, etc., all to no avail -- I can't get my iPhoto library back on to my iPhone no matter what I do.
Anyone encounter a similar situation? (I've already sent feedback to Apple.) Thanks in advance.

Whentrying to uninstall iTunes (the first program that must be uninstalled per the instructions) I get a message: A network error occurred while attempting to read file: C:\Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi. I can't even uninstall iTunes?
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).

After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
