NI USRP 2921 with Ettus GPSDO Kit

I have connected the "Ettus GPSDO Kit for USRP N200" * with a NI USRP 2921. I have the 1.2 NI USRP driver installed.
In LabVIEW, the "Has GPS disciplines clock?" property is returning false. Are these two devices compatible? And if yes, can LabVIEW's USRP driver gps functions work with this combination?

Hey Hassan,
The code that you are using should not cause any issues once the GPSDO is installed properly and the EEPROM has been updated. Can you please run uhd_usrp_probe.exe from the command prompt and post the output? The utility is in the same folder I mentioned in my above post. Please also refer to this installation guide to make sure that you have correctly installed the cables for your device:

Finally, please confirm that you have manually updated the motherboard EEPROM and power cycled your device. You can update the EEPROM by running the following (in the app note I linked in my last post):
usrp_burn_mb_eeprom --key=gpsdo --val=internal

How to calculate SNR and BER using USRP 2920 with LFTX and LFRX daugher boards.

I have few questions regarding SNR and BER measurement:
I am using two USRP 2920 with daughter boards LFTX and LFRX. One is completely Tx and anothe one is completely Rx. I have following few questions:
Q1: How to control/change Energy per bit (Eb) in LabView? Since for calculating BER you have to increase SNR, and for increasing SNR you have to increase Eb. So can anybody guide me how to increase Eb in LabView?
Q2: Can any body tell me about the noise floor of the above mentioned daughter boards?
Q3: How to set the transmit power of the USRP in LabView? What is the maximum power the above mentioned daughter boards can provide and How should I adjust the "Gain" parameter to transmit the signal with the maximun power?

Hi JK,
The energy per bit calculation, as I understand it, is the ratio of the signal power to the bit rate. This means that to increase it, you have to either increase the overall power you are transmitting or decrease the user bit rate. In LabVIEW, you would do this by increasing the gain or by decreasing the IQ rate.
I'm not sure of the noise floor on those boards, but I did have a question. The USRP 2920 is sold in a particular configuration. Did you take it apart and put in the LFTX and LFRX boards? Or is it an Ettus board with these daughterboards attached?

After Windows update in april 2014 I cant any longer use the scanning funktion via network from Canon MF8330 Cdn multifunktion printer/fax/scanner machine! It worked fine Before the april Windows update installation.
I have reinstalled with Canons driver kit 2005b för Windows 7 64 bit. All works fine until the scanner installation ends, then system report that it cannot install the scanner and I have to try installing again. I have done that now several times but it helps not. I Think it has something to do with that the Canon scanner drivers isn´t 64 bit files, or the problem is that windows update has replaces saome dll file to a never version that not work with Canon drivers.
I have seen that there is a service pack 1 from Canon för Windows 8 and 8,1, can I use that service pack to get a never dll file for scanner or work this only for windows 8 version.
Have someone a solution to this! I have contacted the Canon support already and they say that its a Microsoft problem!

Hi!
I am installing the drivers from Canons site. It is the newest version 2005b for Windows 7 64 bit to MF8330Cdn Canon multifunction printer/fax/scanner. Installation goes well for the printer and fax but not for scanner drivers. The error message is Could not install the scanner. In device manager is there then a unknown device under Image devices. In Device Manager I try to update drivers, but it does not help either, error message is access denied. I am logged on the system with administrator account, therfore it is strange that I get the error message access denied.
I tried earlier to do system restore back to previous time, but it did not work, error was that the system could not do the system restore because of access rights.
is there anything else I could do.
Here is the MF36SCN.inf file for scanner installation from Canon, if it can help You to go further with the problem. Is there something strange in the inf file that does not work in Windows 7 64 bit Windows, something shows that ther is also same 32 bits parts in the inf file.

How I fixed it, at least for now:
1. I've been using OC Genie for a few days, it has been working great on Windows but I guess it was causing many games to crash to the desktop so I decided to turn it off, since then the memory issue started to happen, since this morning.
2. I can only think of my computer got OC Genie addicted, like addiction to crack or cocaine, and the memory, or call it nervous system, wanted more OC Genie, so it gave it to him and bingo, my 4GB readable, but then I used of trickery and deceit to disable OC Genie again and my 4GB is back again without OC Genie.
Hope this helps someone.

TCP/IP instrumented debugging with Blackfin EZ-kit

I have been evaluating the LabVIEW for Blackfin with a BF537 EZ-Kit the last few days...so far, I have been able to get all the example programs to run using the non-instrumented USB debugger interface.
I have run the Web Server Buttons example, and I can cause the LEDs to blink by pressing the buttons on the browser interface, so I know that my crossover cable and DHCP server are running correctly on my laptop, and that I can communicate with the EZ-Kit over TCP/IP.
When I get to the example where they want you to debug using the instrumented TCP/IP debugger interface, the program loads using USB, then I get a dialog box that looks like it's trying to make a connection to the EZ-Kit via TCP, but the dialog disappears after a 20-30 seconds, and the program does not run. During the time the dialog is waiting to connect, I can ping the EZ-Kit from a DOS box and the EZ-Kit has acquired an IP address from my DHCP server.
What I am wondering is this: how does the debugger interface know what the IP address is to perform the instrumented debugging? Is there a config file somewhere that I need to enter an IP address into? Does the debugger use UDP to find the EZ-Kit? The debugger does not seem to be able to find the Ez-Kit, and it occurs to me that I haven't told any of the LabVIEW components what IP address that EZ-Kit will have....

The implementation of the Blackfin target is partially located in "plug-in" VIs that you can access. Open "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1 Embedded\resource\LabVIEW Targets\Embedded\vdk\vdk_LEP_TargetPlugin\LEP_vdk_ScriptCompiler.vi". You can see in the attached screenshot where this plugin VI determines the IP of the host PC and concatenates it in as a compiler flag. You can modify this LabVIEW code to hard-code that IP if you have multiple IP addresses, or even add functionality to programmatically get the correct IP address!

People report it is still possible to use a wired USB keyboard with the CCK, if you use a powered USB hub to get around the "not enough power" error message. (I have done this with an older Apple USB keyboard my non-jailbroken iPad1 on iOS 4.3.3.) Normally, powered USB hubs have a AC power adapter so you lose portability unless you can find a battery powered USB hub. At this point, the (in)convinience of the USB hub becomes an issue, depending on what you get.
And wired USB keyboard were never supported for the iPad. So there's no guarantee that it will continue to work with future iPad updates from Apple. So best to go with a Bluetooth keyboard unless you have a specific USB keyboard that you "must" use. If you have all the equipment already, I say give it a try. But I would not recommend trying a USB keyboard if you have to purchase anything.

Can I ask who has ever had successful experience of achieving high IQ rate using USRP RIO with PCIe adapter? If so, what PC were you using?
I am working on the USRP RIO. I tried to run the LabVIEW code for the USRP-2920 on the USRP 2950R but could not achieve a high IQ rate. The PC I am using has a mini-itx motherboard with H97 chipset, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 memory, 256GB SSD, i7-4790K quad-core 4.0GHz CPU. Even if I connect the USRP-2920 to the PC, I could not achieve 20MS/s. When I was using a Macbook Pro with i7-3840QM, I could achieve 25MS/s IQ rate. But there is no way I installed a PCIe adapter to the laptop.

I have a benchmarking utility that I will attach here that can run through a number of IQ Rates and the number of samples in each Write call. Here are the results when I ran with an USRP-2940R over a x4 MXIe (PCIe) link. I configured to run a 2-channel continuous generation for 10 s for each test.

The formatting may be hard to figure out, but the small numbers are the number of underflows. So 0 is what you want. As you can see, I can sustain rates up to 80 MS/s for at least 10 s IF my write size is big enough. That is, if I write at least 10,000 samples with each call to niUSRP Write, I don't see underflows. That's two channels, so we're talking 640 MB/s over the bus.
Here are some tips to increase your Tx streaming throughput:
0) Don't use a continuous generation at all. For many applications you don't need to stream continuously- a finite transmission (and you can loop a finite transmission) will do and you will basically not underflow in that case if you provide all the data up front.
1) As you can see from the chart, the bigger the data buffer you provide in each Write call, the faster you can stream.
2) Write sizes in multiples of the maximum packet size seem to work well. That number is 2044 for the USRP-294x/5x series (although that may change in future driver releases). Try sending bursts of 10220 samples.
3) If your application allows it, set a Start Trigger Time a little in the future. Then start writing data before the device starts transmitting. For example, set the Start Trigger Time to the (current device time + 1 second). Then start writing data and you will have a second to pre-fill the on-device buffers. This will substantially reduce the number of underflows.
4) Be sure to do your data processing out of your write loop, to keep the write loop filling the pipleline as quickly as possible.

IPhone 4S not working with TomTom Car Kit

Hi,
I have the TomTom car kit for 3GS and have just upgraded to iPhone 4S.
I have one of the iPhone 4 adaptors from TomTom for the car kit, but even with this on, and trying some of the other suggestions online about a strip of velcro, I cannot get the cradle and the iPhone 4S to work together.
Has anyone with a 4S managed to use it with the car kit?

Right, this is what worked for me;
I had a iPhone 4 running ios 5 and all was fine. Since upgrading my to 4s my TomTom car kit wouldnt regognise the new phone.
Remove the iPhone 4 adapter (retangular stick on thing that comes with the kit specifically for the iphone 4)
turn it over so it is facing the wrong way. You should still have enough stick left behind on the kit itself to stick on again - must be the wrong way around!!
Job done!!

9630 does not connect with Bluetooth Car Kit Speakerphone

Whenever I try to make a call with my Motorola T215 Car Kit Speakerphone, my BlackBerry 9630 Tour "smart"phone says, Connection to Motorola T215 failed. I have followed the pairing instructions that came with the car kit precisely and repeatedly, but still get the same result. To add even more enjoyment to my experience, my connection with the Bluetooth device seems to go on and off as it pleases. I figure the only way to put an end to this issue is to smash it with a hammer, but if you know of another solution, I would appreciate it. My carrier is Sprint, and OS version is 4.2.0.285.

The first thing I would suggest doing it running an upgrade on your device software. To do this you will need your USB cord and access to the internet.
Go to: www.blackberry.com/update and then follow the prompts to update your device software.
This should back up your device data automatically, but to be save incase of any situation that may arise do a backup of your device through the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Once the update is done, test the Bluetooth connection.

Seems to be a hardware issue and you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider, an Apple Store , to see if other 3rd party charger will work at their place.

Workflow of ipad 1 with camera connection kit

Hi, I am very new to ipad and wonder the following is possible:
I know ipad can view photos in memory cards with camera connection kit (CCK), but can I view the photo and delete it straight away from my ipad without copying all the photos into my ipad? I shoot raw, will this make a difference?
The answer will be very helpful as I am deciding whehter I should get a CCK.

if shooting raw, 16G iPad wouldonly store 5xx photos if shooting in raw and leaving at least half of thecapacity for apps & videos... which is useful but not quite helpful, that'swhy I want it to work like a bigger screen instead of the 2.5".
Besides, Idon't have that many backup at home and some are very obvious can be deletedthrough big screen (e.g. out of focus) but not the small one (the crappy screen in 40D will notlet you recognize any out of focus photo..)

CF card to Ipad with camera connection kit?

I have a cannon 5d and 5d mark ii, and was really hoping to transfer images to my iPad from these cameras via the camera connection kit as they both use CF cards and not SD cards. But these cameras do not work with the USB camera connector. So I thought maybe I could use a card reader and the USB connector. But my card reader seems to use to much power. Does anyone know of a CF card reader that works with the connection kit or any other method that may help me??. Thanks

I have a Canon 20-D and I intend on getting an upgrade Canon (not the 50-D but the one step up from that, ... the one with video capability). Anyways, I bought the Apple camera connector kit and it is the BEST...! I, too, had an initial problem with not being able to use the connector kit until I remembered that I have this "Hama" USB2.0 Card Rreader )35 in 1 (this is what I am reading that is on top of this dark blue item that is the intermediary between the camera connector kit doohicki and my computer (or ipod, or iPad). It works like a charm.
The best thing of all is that this USB camera connector kit is NOT just for pics but can be used for lots of things that are USB connectable. In the newest issue of MacLife they discuss the multiple uses of this camera connector kit. One can even use it for a (USB) key board. One thing that i like about Apple's c.c kit is that the photos that you take can be put directly onto your ipod or ipad or iphone WITHOUT first downloading onto a computer ( & then transferring them).

E61 with 610 Car Kit

I have found a issue between my Nokia car kit and E61 Phone, when disconnected with the car kit 610 the phone will not show SMS message, missed calls, reminders, I have firmware version 2.0628.06.05 apart from this issue, the car kit and phone work fine. The only way I resolve the issue is to reset the phone after using car kit, issues with firmware or bug look like

This is an issue, Nokia should answer!
I am very much interested in the solution, because my desicion for a mobile phone depends on the compatibility with my NOKIA 610 car-kit. I will not change my car-kit.
