NI VXI Resource Manager keeps on saying locked up

Whenever I run resource manager, it keeps saying it locks up last time when it was running although it was not really locked up last time. Anybody knows how to fix this? Thanks.

I have some additional information and questions regarding this issue.
What version of NI-VISA and MAX do you have installed?  There is
an issue with MAX 4 and Resman crashing when run outside of MAX.
A patch for this issue is on our website.  However, I have never seen the issue this patch fixes not hang Resman.  So my guess is that this is not what is happening in your case since you say it works for a month or so.
What happens when you run Resman twice in a row?  Do you get the
hang message the second time?  If you do, it's likely that you
have a registry permission problem.  To detect lockups, Resman
writes a value to the registry when it starts, and deletes it just
before it exits.  If the registry value is still present when
Resman starts, it says it detected a lockup.  Thus if the key has
been created but not deleted due to registry permissions problems,
Resman will -always- say it locked up.  Are you logged in as
Administrator?  What permissions do you have on the computer?

  • VXI Resource Manager

I am using TCP/IP in LabVIEW to work with a VXI PC from a Sun Workstation. Sometimes the VXI Resource Manager gets a little lost and cannot talk to VXI instruments after a few errant calls. I have to stop a VXI Server software app on the PC, run the VXI Resource Manager from Max, and then restart the VXI Server software. Is there anyway to run VXI Resource Manager from command line or from LabVIEW? I searched around for it but could not find it. Thanks.

    Hello,
On a windows machine, Resman.exe is located in: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\VXI; on Linux it is in /usr/local/nainst/nivxi/bin and is simply called resman. Can you use the "find" or "locate" commands to find resman on the SUN machine? I think proper syntax would be:
    find / -name resman
    or
    locate resman
With the location information, I think you should be able to write a program on the VXI PC side which launches Resman programmatically.
If you have any further questions or have trouble, repost and we'll continue to explore it!
    Thank you,

  • VXI Resource manager problem

    I have the following configuration:
    VXI-PCI system (National Instrument 777119-32 VXI-PCI 8015 interface kit +
    National Instrument 777178-01 mainframe extender.)
    One PC.
    Two VXI cages.
In the first VXI cage at slot 0, I installed NI zero slot controller,
    configured to logical address 1.
In the second VXI cage at slot 0, I installed NI zero slot controller,
    configured to logical address 2.
The VXI cages are chained using MXI-2/M3 cable.
In the first VXI cage at slot 1, I installed a RACAL Instrument (1260-35
with option OPT-01T) that also needs a logical address, configured to
    logical address 3.
In the second VXI cage at slot 1, I installed a RACAL Instrument device
(1260-45 with option OPT-01T) that also needs a logical addre
    ss, configured
    to logical address 4.
Running the Resource manager with only one RACAL device in either cage -
result OK (logical addresses 1,2,3 or 1,2,4).
Running a full system result - FAIL with the message "The device at logical
address 3 did not respond to the read protocols command.
The same problem appears if I configure the logical address of the OPT-01T
to 255 (auto assign logical address).
    Please advice.

    Eli-
I just noticed this unanswered question. I am guessing you've gotten your answer from another source by now, but in case anyone else has similar issues, I recommend our Logical Address Wizard, which helps configure multi-chassis MXI systems. Your case illustrates a common mistake when assigning LA's; having your two VXI-MXI-2's at LA 1 and 2 will not work. According to the LA Wizard, a combination like LA 4 (containing an instrument at LA 5) and LA 6 (containing an instrument at LA 7) would work.

  • Setting Resource Manager to start at boot automatically

I am putting together a script to automatically install multiple vendor software packages for a test system.  As part of that script, it would be nice to set the Resource Manager configuration to start at boot.
Is there a registry setting or equivalent that I can set (instead of providing manual instructions such as listed at Configuring the VXI Resource Manager to Run at Startup )?

Not sure how much detail you are looking for. I did this by setting up a start/stop script in /etc/init.d (chkconfig 345 91 10).
Since I still run the backend (database) as the ORA_OWNR and only run the webservice as root, I start this in a two step process.
the shutdown is a 3 step process because the node_manager gets left running until the stopall command is issued.
    Code excerpt:
    case "$1" in

    # Oracle listener and instance startup
    echo -n "Starting Oracle: "
    # Changed ses to run as root so that the webservice can bind to port 80 instead of port 7777

  • Killer Network Manager Keeps Saying To Install Flash.

I just put to together my rig and im slowly updating and running it through its paces, I have a MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming I have the latest drivers so far the only thing I haven't updated is the bios. Flash is installed but the MSI Killer Network Manager keeps saying that I need to install flash when I try to test the networks speed. Anyone else had this issue in the past?

    Quote from: Maja199 on 11-April-14, 02:33:05
If you install the flash player through the internet explorer it should work.
    That's right.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
There are 2 Flash player installation packages:
    1) for Internet Explorer (and Google Chrome)
    2) for other browsers (Firefox, Opera, etc).
This amazing piece of software called "Killer Network Manager" needs the IE flash plugin.
Otherwise its outstanding interface does not work.

  • RH8 hangs with 100% CPU when closing a topic. Resource Manager to blame?

Please refer to the following thread for background information: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/734972?tstart=0
I'm re-listing this issue, as it has rasied its ugly head again, and I've no resolution this time.
    Summary:
The original issue was that RH8 would hang whenever I closed a topic for anywhere between 15-30 seconds before allowing me to interact with the application again. Attempting to interact with the GUI during this freeze would result in the 'Not Responding' message at the upper-left of the application window (suffice it to say I'm on a PC with Windows).
After much investigation it was suggested to me that my profile may be corrupt, and in order to test this, another user should log on and see whether they experienced the same problem. As it is, they did not. So I had my Systems Admin recreate my domain profile, and everything worked just fine.
    ...until now.
Last week we all upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (32 bit). We also changed our anti-virus software. The awful hanging issue in RH has returned.
We've attempted the solution from last time, by recreating my profile on the domain, to no avail. We have in fact gone to the extent of reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows, the anti-virus software and RH8 (plus all available patches) from scratch. In case anyone is wondering, we've tried running RH without the antivirus installed, and when installed have also tried excluding the RH application folder and all my project folders, just in case it was the anti-virus software at fault. Regardless, the RH problem exists.
I can't understand why I'm now having this problem. Truth be told, I never really understood why recreating my domain profile in the first place resolved the problem last time.
However, I have now discovered something else...
In my RH Resource Manager I have a few thousand images in the Image folder. Not much I can do about this - the applications I write Help for have many screens users can access, and I write the Help for half a dozen applications. When I delete the contents of the images folder within the Resources Manager, RH works perfectly - no hanging whatsoever. As soon as I import the images into this folder again, the hanging is back. I have tested this a few times now, and have rebooted and had another user log on to confirm, and it happens every time. I'm dumbfounded of course, particularly because the same set of images has been sitting in the Resource Manager for months (since my original post about this issue, last year), and RH has been working perfectly.
I've also tried Peter Grainge's suggestion to create an empty BaseCSS_res.dll file (http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh8/using_rh8.htm), but as I've installed all the RH8 updates, this shouldn't be an issue.
I've also tried deleting the CPD file without success.
    Thanks in advance.

It seems this has been resolved!
Many thanks for all the suggestions. Peter ultimately forwarded the solution - something that he'd sourced from a rep at Adobe, as follows:
Every file/folder change in the root folder of RH8 Resource Manager triggers a rescan of all the sub-folder/files. That is why in case of thousand image it will take time. Like xxxx said we may ask user for root folder, it should not be project folder or frequently changing folder.
Probably he is using the default path given in the root folder and RoboHelp changes a temporary css file in that folder very frequently, in fact with every topic close.
That is causing the slowness and it should be easy to reproduce in the default scenario. This is RH8 only issue.
    So, to fix my issue:
    Open the Resource Manager Pod.
Click the Add/Edit Categories icon. The Add/Edit Categories window appears.
Within this window, change the 'Root Folder' path to something other than the default. In my case, I create a new folder on my root hard drive, outside of the Robohelp folder, just to be sure.
So far this is working perfectly - no 'hanging'. I'll keep an eye on it.
I love the comment "This is RH8 only issue."
Oh?! Is it? Was it fixed in a patch, Adobe? Please don't tell me that it was fixed in RH9, because there's no way known I should have to pay for an upgrade to resolve something that certainly looks like a bug. As happy and grateful I am to have this resolved, it has cost me a week's work.

  • XAER_RMFAIL : Resource manager is unavailable

Weblogic 8.1, I don't recall which service pack, sp10? Maybe?

    <JDBCTxDataSource EnableTwoPhaseCommit="true"
    JNDIName="dbpool" Name="OracleSource"
    PoolName="OraclePool" Targets="myserver"/>
Looking this up, I was pointed to a JTA FAQ page on edocs, and it basically
said we should be Refreshing the connection pool, but the RefreshMinutes
parameter is deprecated, and as you can see we're testing connections as is.
We're puzzled by a couple of things, almost certainly application related,
but still relevant. We have 150 connections allocated to the pool, but even
at peak load during the day we bounce around the 40 mark. When we got the
above exception, we were hitting the 150 ceiling. We don't quite know why
    yet.
During this time, our DB server was pretty heaviliy loaded. There were some
horrendous queries running, some data imports, etc. Bascially a bunch of
stuff that happens at the beginning of the month. However, there weren't
necessarily a lot of actual users on the system, just a select few.
One of the things that was happening was a user was using the web interface,
and sent off a huge horrible query. When it didn't come back in a reasonable
amount of time, he simply hit "Refresh" on the page, thereby submitting the
query again (thank you Sir, may I have another!). This was partly why the
    database was so heavily loaded.
Now, we're puzzled by a couple of things. One, is the spike of actual
connections in the DB Pool up to 150. This makes no sense.
Second, is this error detailed above. I've tried some contrived
experiements, and I can not raise this specific exception myself. My
experiment was to issue a "update table set column = 1 where id = 1" in a
generic SQL browser, thus locking the row, and then issue the identical
command through a Session Bean call. It has happily sat there for up to 10
minutes (600 seconds, which is our default <JTA Name="inf4.2"
TimeoutSeconds="600"/> setting), and it eventually times out, but not with
the same exception. Rather I get "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01013: user
requested cancel of current operation" from Weblogic, and
    "weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException:" from my client.
Apparently, according to the original exception, an XA Resource has not
responded within 120 seconds, but through my testing, that XA resource isn't
necessarily a SQL connection waiting on a query.
Could someone provide insight as to what resource the system may be waiting
on? For in theory, to me, that's what is consuming our DB Pool. I'm assuming
that whatever they're waiting on (the DB apparently), they're ALL waiting on
it, and the reason that the pool spikes is because the system can never find
a "valid" connection, thus trying again with a new one. Is that what it
    happening?
Clearly we basically have a tuning issue, but in fact, I'm looking for a
stability solution. When this occurred, our system run 3 load balanced
"legs". The middle leg was having the problem. When we dropped it, leg 3
picked up and then IT had the problem. However, once we killed all 3 of them
    and restarted, they recovered.
So I'm looking for some idea to keep Weblogic alive, even at the expense of
booting off these offending transactions, and not having to restart the
    servers.
Perhaps over time the system would have recovered on its own (most probably
in fact), but if we can get things cut off early (as well as beating users
that hit Refresh constantly when things "stick"), we can prevent these from
escalating the effectively downing the whole site.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Weblogic 8.1, I don't recall which service pack, sp10? Maybe?Well, we're only up to sp5 here, so we'll have to catch up ;)
    Please try this:

You don't want the pool in flux at runtime, either shrinking or
growing. Just have it make what you need at startup and keep it.
Test-on-release is a waste of cycles. Also, I set keep-xa-con
till tx complete, to ensure that only one connection is ever
used for a given tx. XA allows connections to be changed at the
granularity of a single JDBC call, but that provides no real
    benefit, and some overhead.
Let me know if this helps, and do let me know what real
    service pack you're running.

  • RH10: Snippets from resource manager show in search results

I'm new to using the resource manager, so there's a good chance I've done something stupid here... but...
I have 2 projects (I am the only tech writer, so running off one PC, no version control). I want to share snippets between the projects, so I'm using the resource manager to keep them synched up. Both are compiled as CHMs.
When I search, I'm getting search results that appear to be the snippets in the results. When you double click them, they don't open.
    Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
Has anyone else seen this before? I'm using RH10.

I have set up a test and cannot get snippets to show in search results.
I am a little puzzled by the fact that you say they appear to be snippets, thus casting some doubt.
Do you have snippets with those names and do the snippets contain the term being searched.
Do you have topics with those names?
Does it happen in a new project?

  • Unable to add File Server Resource Manager Tools on Windows Server 2012 - Errors on restart and roll back install

Unable to install Windows Server 2012 Feature -  [Tools] File Server Resource Manager Tools.
Installs, however when I restart the server error messages appears saying feature unable to install, windows reverting changes.
In the Setup event logs have the following information message "Update FSRM-Infrastructure of package FSRM-All failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800f0922"
Does anyone have any idea's on why this Feature can not be installed ??
    Scott

    Hi Shaun
Tried both of your suggestions, however neither strategy worked.
    Strategy 1
Tried installing via powershell - "install-windowsfeature -name fs-resource-manager -includemanagementtools"
Feature un-installed itself during the restart.
Attempted to use the command "DISM /online /remove-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services".  However
this did work because one the Service was'nt installed or two because there was no command option for "/remove-feature"
    PACKAGE SERVICING COMMANDS:
/Add-Package            - Adds packages to the image.
/Remove-Package         - Removes packages from the image.
/Enable-Feature         - Enables a specific feature in the image.
/Disable-Feature        - Disables a specific feature in the image.
/Get-Packages           - Displays information about all packages in the image.
/Get-PackageInfo        - Displays information about a specific package.
/Get-Features           - Displays information about all features in a package.
/Get-FeatureInfo        - Displays information about a specific feature.
/Cleanup-Image          - Performs cleanup and recovery operations on the image.
    Strategy 2
Tried installing via powershell, using the following command DISM
/online /enable-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services, however got the same result, the install backed out during the restart.
All up back to where I started?

  • How to configure ex90 for use with polycom resource manager GAB

My customer has a Polycom infrastructure, including using Resource Manager for the GAB server. I also have several Cisco endpoints deployed (EX90 and C40) and I need to get these units configured to use the GAB. Polycom documentation sucks and only says:
    1. At the endpoint, enter the information required for directory set up including the Polycom Global Address Book/RealPresence Resource Manager system IP address and the path.
    For example, http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx.
To do this on Cisco endpoints, go to System Configuration> Phone Book Server.
    2. Wait for the connections to take effect
When I go to the EX90 phone book server setup page, I only have ID, Type and URL fields. The type field has a drop down that only has Cisco options available (VCS, TMS, Callway and CUCM)
No matter what combination I use, I haven't been able to get the EX90 to pickup the Polycom directory.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

What happens when you try that URL (http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx) from a Web Browser - do you see anything, or get an error?
You'll need to make sure that's accessible first before trying to configure your endpoints to use it.

  • Adobe application manager keeps opening and will not allow me to install creative cloud

Adobe application manager keeps opening and will not allow me to install creative cloud. I am trying to sync fonts and the install is not working. The adobe application manager will open on its own and not allow the creative cloud app to install. I do have other creative cloud products installed however the creative cloud installer icon is not appearing in my toolbar nor does creative cloud show up as an app. I get an error message that I must have creative cloud installed when I try to sync fonts via the type kit to photoshop.

    Hello ducky,
as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
Sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
If necessary and for further questions and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.

  • Adobe Application Manager keeps Crashing

I'm using the Cloud subscription and most of my programs need to be updated. Application manager keeps crashing when I try to update. I've tried unchecking the programs and then only checking one at a time and it still crashes. Also, it says I need Adobe CSXS InfrastructureCS6, but I can't seem to find that on the site. Any advice?

    Hi LucianP,
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Some times installing one manually resolves the issue.

  • Open jpegs from Premier CS3 in PhotoshopCS3 says locked file will not save to jpeg

When I open a jpeg or tiff, from Premiere to photoshop, and make some modifications (like simply mode to grayscale) and try to save it back to the jpeg it refuses, saying the file is locked and I should go to Explorer, properties and unlock. However the files are not locked in the properties, so my only choice is to save as another file, re-load it itno Premiere, and put it on the timeline. I used to be able to edit directly from Premier to Photoshop, and save - on CS3!
I have no clue what I might have done to cause this, except it is a fresh install of Master Suite on a fresh install of Vista Ultimate.
    Any help appreciated.
    Jack

I also realize that my saying, "that is the way it works for me," doesn't help you, since it doesn't work for you. Did it EVER work for you? YES IT DID, THAT IS WHAT IS PUZZLING, AND IN CS3 ALSO.
    Couple of thoughts/questions:
Are you networked? YES, 2 WSIDE BY SIDE AND A THECUS RAID5 5 TERABYTE DATA BOS WHERE I KEEP MANY VIDEO AND STILLS. Are you logged in as an Administrator? I AM THE ONLY ADMINISTRATOR AND LOGGED IN AS SUCH. Are the Assets on internal (non-mapped) HDDs? IN FACT THE THECUS ACTS JUST LIKE ANOTHER INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH IT BEFORE. I'M NOT MUCH OF A COMPUTER PERSON, SO NOT EVEN SURE WHAT MAPPED MEANS, BUT WHEN I WAS ABLE TO EDIT FROM PREMIERE BY SIMPLY CLICKING ON EDIT IN PHOTOSHOP, AND THE ASSETS WERE STORED ON THE THECUS, FIXES CAME BACK DIRECTLY TO PREMIERE. NOW THE SAY 'LOCKED' Any on external, or mapped-network HDDs? Are the Assets coming off of some media like CD, or DVD, and not first being transferred to internal HDDs? ALL ASSETS ARE ON INTERNAL DRIVES. I'VE TRANSFERRED SOME MEDIA TO THE SCRATCH DISC INTERNAL DRIVE AND GET THE SAME RESULT. If they originate FROM CD/DVD, are you making sure that they are not listed as Read Only, after copying? ALL I HAVE CHECKED HAVE NO CHECK ON READ ONLY. NONE ARE RECENTLY BROUGHT IN, I HAVE NEARLY 30,000 PHOTOS SEVERAL TERABYTES OF VIDEO. Windows likes to flag them that way, and it can bite you later. Anyone else on your network using these Assets? Are you using them in AE, AI, InDesign, etc., while also using them in Premiere/PS? I ONLY HAVE PREMIERE AND PHOTOSHOP OPEN, I EVEN CLOSED DOWN BRIDGE. Last, do you have Indexing turned on for any of your HDDs, as Windows loves to "lock" files, while it does its indexing. I turn this off for ALL HDDs, especially for my large externals. (Sometimes, when I move the external HDDs from workstation to workstation, XP will turn Indexing back on, and I have to disable this - happens about 10% of the time.) I HAVE RECENTLY INSTALLED COPERNIC TO DO SEARCHING, VISTA IS NOT FINDING THINGS WELL ENOUGH, IT MIGHT BE THE INDEXING, I'LL TRY THAT WHEN I GET BACK THIS AFTERNOON. THANKS FOR THE TIPS AND 20 QUESTIONS. THIS IS THE KIND OF HELP THAT THEY MEAN ABOUT RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS, THANKS
    AND PARDON THE CAPS
    JACK
"Locking" is usually tied into permissions. That's why I ask about the networking aspects.
Wish I had a quick fix for you.

  • Project Management and Resource Management Reporting Views

I am wondering if anyone would have and is willing to share some documentation they may have put together around reporting views related to Project Management and Resource Management modules. We are installing the projects suite and I have never done custom reporting out of these modules and would be interested in feedback or documentation anyone may have related to these or any offer of assistance or direction in designing the reporting views.
    Thank you in advance!
    Matt

    hello Tony,
What I can say. Maybe you should use SAP PPM as a operational Project Management tool and integrate it with WBS elements and projects in SAP PS. Probably it will be the best solution for you.
The second way is to use a second project structure for project management as you wrote, with different number of this project. So you will have 2 structures one for actual posting of costs and the second for rest management needs and statistical posting of costs. Probably you will need CO substitution for posting of costs to post costs on these 2 structures.
There will be many other conditions to get right solution but I think this 2 ways are possible.

  • Resource manager does not seem to support failover

The resource manager, TMS_ORACLE, does not seem to support SQLnet's transparent
application failover (TAFO). The way this supposed to work is that if the DB connection
is lost, SQLnet detects it, and establishes a new connection in accordance with
the 'failover_mode' settings in your 'tnsnames.ora' file. It works fine for Oracle
tools like sqlplus, and also for the Tuxedo servers we created. However, the resource
manager doesn't seem to detect the loss at all, which renders our application
    useless. Anybody seen this one?

(in our case OCI programs) work perfectly after failover, XA
applications go at the same time crazy (mysterious OCI errors with
strange or no description repeated forever).
IIRC we also noted, that XA server is not provided with the callback
which inform about failing over. Probably it is provided to TMS_ORA.
Nevertheless, there is thing which seems promising: non-failover TNS
alias + setting the server to TPEXIT on (most) Oracle errors (so the
server restart on error and then choose the database which works).
But we did not perform any heavy testing, so in case you experiment
with it more, please share your experiences.
By the way: it is still very unclear to me what TMS_ORA does on
database failure. Using Oracle 8.0.* () I observed that TMS_ORA kept
running after database restart, rejecting all the transactions
received by the server (without even notifying it). Using Oracle 8.1.*
it is better (probably thanks to Oracle 'silently reconnect'
functionality), but ... it is Oracle who improved a bit. We even
opened support case asking for the clarification but the answer didn't
    helped much :-(
