Nikon D-7100

I can not open .nef files from my D-7100 in Elements 9 but it will open .nef files from my D-60. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you posted to the Photoshop General Discussions Forum. That program is Photoshop Elements' "big brother."
I will Move your post to the PsElements Forum, and your links and any e-mail subscriptions will follow.
It might be that the necessary version of ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) is not not usable with PsE 9. If that is the case, then one will need to upgrade to a later version of PsE. The folk in the correct forum can direct you better.
Good luck,
Hunt

How can i use Nikon D 7100 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 with Photoshop CS 5 Camera Raw?

The one needs 7.4 (or better), the other 8.1, so Photoshop CS5 with ACR6 is not up to the task.
The free DNG Converter could be used to convert the RAW images to DNG which your version of ACR should be able to process.

  • I'm using a 30 days trial of PS  CC...but I Can't open raw files from my NIKON D 7100

I can't open raw files in PS CC.
    I'm using NIKON D7100.

    Noel,
Good morning, and may I just add  THANK YOU!
While certainly not as efficient or handy, that is the answer.  I simply
instructed my PC to open the containing folder, in this case my direct card
reader, and manually copied the files to my hard drive (highlight first and
last-SHIFT-Enter) and moved them to a pre-named subdirectory.
I opened PScc and pointed to that file, clicked on the photo I wanted and
VIOLA!  Opened in Camera Raw and I was off to the races!
Perhaps the user groups can make some noise and someone at Nikon may take
    notice!
    Thanks again for the suggestion.

  • Nikon D 7100 raw files

I have just installed Elements 12, but cannot load raw files to it from my Nikon D 7100

The D7100 was supported starting with ACR 7.4 so 8.2 is new enough.
That suggests the files, themselves, have been corrupted by using an older version of Nikon Transfer or View NX, perhaps one that came with your older camera.  The obsolete versions of NT and VNX will change the metadata in the raw files and make them unrecognizable to Adobe products.
A quick test with pictures transferred directly from the memory card to your hard-drive without being touched by any Nikon products should verify if this is the case.
If this is the problem and you need to use Nikon products to do the transferring then install the versions that came with your D7100, and quit using the older versions.
If you want to uncorrupt the files you’ve already transferred there is a utility that can do this:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html
    Use the 14-bit option.

  • Lightroom 4.4 won't download Nikon D-7100 images

I've tried downloading a new copy of the upgrade to ensure I got a correct copy, and waiting at least 45 minutes for the iImport preview images to appear. Nothing has worked, all I get is a message that says "No Preview Available For This Image".  If I "import" anyway nothing Imports.. no files go into Lightroom.

    I just checked Nikon Website, I have version 1.5, there's a version 1.5.3, &
Nikon Transfer is now included in ViewX2, I got that with the camera, but hadn't
downloaded it thinking my old Nikon Transfer would work, thanks for
straightening me out. I guess the proper thing to do would be to reload the
images since I haven't reformatted the cards yet. Thanks for your help.

            • Drains the camera battery
            • Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
            • Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera

    Which OS?
Have you made any recent changes to your machine?
    Which Lr version?
Did it work with this camera before?
Did you use Nikon software to get your images onto your computer before trying to import into Lr?
How are you importing? Camera to computer? Or via a card reader?
I don't think I've ever seen an example of the lens in use making the difference between a Raw file being imported or not.

  • Can not access Adobe camera raw in PS CS5. Have a mac OS 10.9

How do i access adobe camera raw for images fro Nikon D 7100.

Since photoshop cs5 can only use up to camera raw 6.7 and the Nikon D7100 requires at least camera raw 7.4, photoshop cs5 won't open those files directly.

You can though, use the 8.6 DNG Converter to convert the D7100 nefs to dng copies, which then photoshop cs5 should open.

    Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos.

  • I have Elements 10 and a Nikon D7100. PSE10  CR 6.7 does not support the 7100 NEF. How can I get the updates to do this?

I have Elements 10 and a Nikon D7100. PSE10  CR 6.7 does not support the 7100 NEF. How can I get the updates to do this?

The D7100 requires camera raw 7.4 which is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 10.
    Your two main options are
    1) Buy a newer version of Photoshop Elements
    2) Use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNG files which can then be used by Photoshop Elements 10.

  • Bridge CS4 and Nikon 7100 raw files

Well, I use normally Bridge CS4 (that was included in Elements 8) to organize my pics and to edit or open in camera raw of Elements 11. I normaly shot in raw format with my Nikon d90. Now I shoted some pics with the new Nikon D7100 and I can't use Bridge CS4. I tried to update but Bridge doesn't work. So now I'm obliged to use Elements 11 organiser. Any possibiity to update Bridge CS4?

Adobe products use Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) in various ways.  Adobe does not work at, or promise, ACR will work in older or legacy versions of anything.  Your 7100 is a brand new model and included in ACR 7.4 and 8.0.  Whatever Adobe products you use will have to be upgraded to the latest ACR.  With PSE and organizer 11, you have to install it and upgrade with Help > Updates to get 7.4.
It amazes me that people will invest so much in a new camera and its new features without giving any thought to the software they use to support the new camera and features.

  • Is there a patch to enable Photoshop Elements 10 to import NEF images from a Nikon 7100?

I bought a Nikon 7100.  The NEF files taken with the Nikon 7100 cannot be imported into the organizer.  The error message is "the files selected to import did not contain any supported file types.  The file is damaged or is in a format that cannot be included in Elements Organizer."  The file is not damaged as the Nikon NX 2 program had no problem importing the images.  Elements 10 was able to import raw NEF files from my D90 with no problem.  Is there a patch to enable Elements 10 to recognize the format of Nikon 7100 raw NEF images?  If not, is there another photoshop product that will import NEF images from a Nikon 7100?

For the 7100 PSE11 or PSE12 will work as support was added in ACR 7.4.

  • Camera RAW for Nikon 7100

Before I purchased my new Nikon 7100, I updated Photoshop Camera Raw and it stated the the 7100 was included in the update. Now that I have my camera, I have found that it is not covered in your latest version of camera raw. It used to be and now it isn't. Why is Adobe playing these games and when will Camera Raw be available for the Nikon 7100?

    Good day!
Why is Nikon not using DNG?
Why are you not posting on the Camera Raw Forum?

Why do you not state the exact version of ACR you are using?
