No Bootable Device Found- Need Some Help
Hello,
I'm hoping that someone can help me with an issue. I've looked at several of the discussions on here but can't seem to find an answer to my situation. I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto a Mac computer at work (OSX operating system version 10.8.4). First thing I did was download the Windows 7 file to the computer and it showed up as an ISO file (we do not have a hard copy of the disk or an internal optical drive). Next, I attached a 16GB USB, opened Bootcamp and clicked on the Create a Windows 7 install disk, Download the latest Windows support software, and Install by partitioning. The files become located on the USB, the partitioning takes place, the computer restarts, and then I get the "No bootable device- Insert Boot Disk and press any key" message. When holding option at the restart, I can see the Mac HD, recovery and USB icons, but the Windows Installer does not show up
I've tried to remove the Windows 7 using Bootcamp, re-partition the Mac and re-create the Windows 7 install disk with no success. I have also tried attaching an external CD/DVD drive, using Disk Utility to burn the ISO files to a CD and using that as the install disk with no luck. I'm a new Mac user so I tried to include as much information as I could in this. If anyone has any help or suggestions as to how to help get the installer to show up, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Shared disk (Tried 2 methods BootCamp and Disk Utility) to install windows, but the section is not shown, to be precise, when you turn the Mac while holding Alt key shows the partition for system restore and disk partition with OSX, and not created by me. If you try through Bootcamp that actually says "No bootable device". What could it be? I have a macbook pro 371ll/a, OSX 10.9.5 . Thanks for the reply.
Thank you! All established, but a new problem with Windows 7 partition. If you install Windows on a Mac, say you gave 30GB on widows, after installation you have 2GB from 30GB, while the size of the files in Windows is 18 GB, should be free 12 from 30. Hidden files on large amounts of no (100 MB all hidden files together). Know that there is a disk which reserves memory for the system, but I don't have, I look through the taskbar there is a disk with osx and bootcamp and all. What could it be, if you of course know.

No bootable device found 5K iMac..HELP!!! Please?
Ok so here's where I am at on my 2014 5K iMac:
1. Used 16 GB USB 2.0 thumbdrive and an official Windows 7 ISO.
2. Bootcamp created the WININSTALL disk flawlessly complete with necessary drivers.
3. Created a 60GB partition via Bootcamp.
4. iMac restarts and boots to blank screen and then says "No bootable device found - insert boot disk and press any key"
I never removed the thumb drive, followed bootcamp's instructions to the letter, and made sure all other usb drives were removed. Again, bootcamp was working fine until the restart and the inability to read the bootable drive bootcamp JUST CREATED. Any idea what may be going on?
I have included a snapshot my system specs and I am running a 1TB Fusion Drive.
When I start up back into Yosemite I can even see a new drive labled "BOOTCAMP" (picture also included)
I have also restarted while holding the option key and manually selected the "Windows" drive and I STILL come to the same blanks screen with the same message.
Seriously, ***? Beginning to dislike my iMac now. I don't understand why this must be so difficultISO is a Win 7 Home Premium SP1 X64 only. 3.7 GB total. No other versions of Windos or x86 versions attached.
Here is my screen output:

After install it just says "No bootable device found" [SOLVED]
I have been trying (several times now) to install Arch Linux. After the install, it just showed the message "No bootable device found".
I have already asked for a solution here, but until now no one could really help me.
I will paste my text from the other site here, to explain exactly my situation:
I've been trying to install Arch Linux. After the installation, it shows the BIOS screen and after that there just comes a message that says "No bootable device found".
I have retried the whole scenario now some times, still it just shows the same message...
At installing, I have followed the Unofficial Beginner's Guide from the ArchLinux wiki.
Here is what I did:
First of all, I wiped the hard drive (on which before the wipe was Windows Vista installed) and put GPT on it by using gdisk. Then I set up some partitions, which now look as the following (output of parted):
Model: ATA ST9160310AS (scsi)
Disk /dev/sda: 160GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Disk Flags:
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1049kB 2097kB 1049kB BIOS boot partition bios_grub
2 2097kB 107MB 105MB ext2 Linux filesystem
3 107MB 21.6GB 21.5GB ext4 Linux filesystem
4 21.6GB 30.2GB 8590MB linux-swap(v1) Linux swap
5 30.2GB 160GB 130GB ext4 Linux filesystem
Then I mounted the root partition (sda2) to /mnt, after that also the boot and the home partition (sda3 and sda5) to /mnt/boot and /mnt/home and at the end formatted and activated the swap partition (sda4).
Now I began installing the base system. After selecting the mirrors, I installed base and base-devel.
At the end of the install I generated an fstab.
Then I finally chrooted into /mnt, set up some Locales, set a root password and then installed and configured Grub2, exactly as it is explained here.
At the end I exited from the chroot environment, unmounted the partitions and rebooted. You know the rest... It just showed the message that it coudn't find any bootable devices.
By the way, I tried to install it on this computer.
Hopefully someone finds out what I did wrong, thanks in advance!

IdeaPad U330 - Replacing the SSHD with an SSD = no bootable device found
Hi,
I have the original SSHD (Seagate 500 Gig) with Windows 8 that I would like to replace with :
Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series (256 Gig) with Windows 8 already installed and running on it.
When I put the Samsung SSD in my Lenovo Ideapad Ultrabook U330, BIOS tells me there is no bootable device found.
Can someone please explain this, I am SO desperate T_T
Thanks,
David
DETAILS :
Both Windows are Windows 8.1 64 bits
The SSD is working perfectly when placed in my Desktop computer
I installed Windows 8.1 on the SSD following this tutorial : http://superuser.com/questions/490476/how-can-i-install-windows-8-on-my-hdd-without-the-use-of-a-usb...
I did not provide the Windows 8 CD key on for SSD yet (but I have it)
I have tried rebooting with Safe boot disabled, Legacy settings, disabling Win8 OS optimization...no success
I have a bootable Windows 8.1 on an external HDD, I can boot on it everywhere...except on the Lenovo Ideapad and I have no clue why the disk is not supported here.
Usually, on the SSD, I plug the SATA cable but there is also another connector next to it. I noticed the SSHD in the Lenovo laptop didn't have any connector on it. Maybe my SSD requires to be connected using both slots (the SATA one, and the one next to it ?)
Should I update my BIOS ? Should I reformat the SSD ? Should I go back to the Bios Firm settings ?
I have been looking at some forum threads, but there doesn't seem to be any clear procedure to cope with this problem...
UPDATE :
From the BIOS, after disabling secure boot, selecting "Legacy" and "Legacy First" in the boot mode section allows me to boot on my USB HDD
Solved!
Go to Solution.Duckblade wrote:
Thanks for the tip, I will check that shortly. Is there any software that could help me do that ? I am also thinking of using Norton Ghost to clone the SSHD on my SSD, that has to work.
Cheers !
Just use disk management (winkey + x, select disk management). Select the leftmost portion of the disk drive and right click. Select properties. Select volumes. You will see the partition style of the disk that you have selected. -
Remote App on iPad connects but drops after about 20 mins. Need to turn off wait about 1 minute, then turn on wifi on iMac before it can reconnect. Need some help please.
Already gone through troubleshooting guide a zillion times. Thanks. This worked for me... A little time consuming but once you get rolling it goes GREAT... Thanks....
I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now. -
Need some help in creating Search Help for standard screen/field
I need some help in adding a search-help to a standard screen-field.
Transaction Code - PP01,
Plan Version - Current Plan (PLVAR = '01'),
Object Type - Position ( OTYPE = 'S'),
Click on Infotype Name - Object ( Infotype 1000) and Create.
I need to add search help to fields Object Abbr (P1000-SHORT) / Object Name (P1000-STEXT).
I want to create one custom table with fields, Position Abb, Position Name, Job. Position Abb should be Primary Key. And when object type is Position (S), I should be able to press F4 for Object Abb/Object Name fields and should return Position Abbr and Position Name.
I specify again, I have to add a new search help to standard screen/field and not to enhance it.
This is HR specific transaction. If someone has done similar thing with some other transation, please let me know.
There is no existing search help for these fields. If sm1 ever tried or has an idea how to add new search help to a standard screen/field.
It's urgent.
Thanks in advace. Suitable answers will be rewardedHi Pradeep,
Please have a look into the below site which might be useful

A search help exit is a function module for making the input help process described by the search help more flexible than possible with the standard version.
This function module must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE. The search help exit may also have further optional parameters (in particular any EXPORTING parameters).
A search help exit is called at certain timepoints in the input help process.
Note: The source text and long documentation of the above-specified function module (including the long documentation about the parameters) contain information about using search help exits.
Function modules are provided in the function library for operations that are frequently executed in search help exits. The names of these function modules begin with the prefix F4UT_. These function modules can either be used directly as search help exits or used within other search help exits. You can find precise instructions for use in the long documentation for the corresponding function module.
During the input help process, a number of timepoints are defined that each define the beginning of an important operation of the input help process.
If the input help process is defined with a search help having a search help exit, this search help exit is called at each of these timepoints. If required, the search help exit can also influence the process and even determine that the process should be continued at a different timepoint.
timepoints
The following timepoints are defined:
1. SELONE
Call before selecting an elementary search help. The possible elementary search helps are already in SHLP_TAB. This timepoint can be used in a search help exit of a collective search help to restrict the selection possibilities for the elementary search helps.
Entries that are deleted from SHLP_TAB in this step are not offered in the elementary search help selection. If there is only one entry remaining in SHLP_TAB, the dialog box for selecting elementary search helps is skipped. You may not change the next timepoint.
The timepoint is not accessed again if another elementary search help is to be selected during the dialog.
2. PRESEL1
After selecting an elementary search help. Table INTERFACE has not yet been copied to table SELOPT at this timepoint in the definition of the search help (type SHLP_DESCR_T). This means that you can still influence the attachment of the search help to the screen here. (Table INTERFACE contains the information about how the search help parameters are related to the screen fields).
3. PRESEL
Before sending the dialog box for restricting values. This timepoint is suitable for predefining the value restriction or for completely suppressing or copying the dialog.
4. SELECT
Before selecting the values. If you do not want the default selection, you should copy this timepoint with a search help exit. DISP should be set as the next timepoint.
5. DISP
Before displaying the hit list. This timepoint is suitable for restricting the values to be displayed, e.g. depending on authorizations.
6. RETURN (usually as return value for the next timepoint)
The RETURN timepoint should be returned as the next step if a single hit was selected in a search help exit.
It can make sense to change the F4 flow at this timepoint if control of the process sequence of the Transaction should depend on the selected value (typical example: setting SET/GET parameters). However, you should note that the process will then depend on whether a value was entered manually or with an input help.
7. RETTOP
You only go to this timepoint if the input help is controlled by a collective search help. It directly follows the timepoint RETURN. The search help exit of the collective search help, however, is called at timepoint RETTOP.
8. EXIT (only for return as next timepoint)
The EXIT timepoint should be returned as the next step if the user had the opportunity to terminate the dialog within the search help exit.
9. CREATE
The CREATE timepoint is only accessed if the user selects the function "Create new values". This function is only available if field CUSTTAB of the control string CALLCONTROL was given a value not equal to SPACE earlier on.
The name of the (customizing) table to be maintained is normally entered there. The next step returned after CREATE should be SELECT so that the newly entered value can be selected and then displayed.
10. APP1, APP2, APP3
If further pushbuttons are introduced in the hit list with function module F4UT_LIST_EXIT, these timepoints are introduced. They are accessed when the user presses the corresponding pushbutton.
Note: If the F4 help is controlled by a collective search help, the search help exit of the collective search help is called at timepoints SELONE and RETTOP. (RETTOP only if the user selects a value.) At all other timepoints the search help exit of the selected elementary search help is called.
If the F4 help is controlled by an elementary search help, timepoint RETTOP is not executed. The search help exit of the elementary search help is called at timepoint SELONE (at the
F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE
This module has been created as an example for the interface and design of Search help exits in Search help.
All the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module to be used as a search help exit, because the calling program does not know which parameters are actually used internally.
A search help exit is called repeatedly in connection with several
events during the F4 process. The relevant step of the process is passed on in the CALLCONTROL step. If the module is intended to perform only a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.
However, if the step is performed completely by the module, the following step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.
The module must react with an immediate EXIT to all steps that it does not know or does not want to handle.
Hope this info will help you.

Need some help with a remove function
Design and code a program that will maintain a list of product names. Use a String type to represent the product name and an array of strings to implement the list. Your program must implement the following methods:
Add a product to the list
Remove a product from the list
Display then entire list
Find out if a particular product is on the list.
You need to create a command command loop with a menu() function. The program must continue asking for input until the user stops.
This is the assignment and this is what I have so far. I need some help writing the remove function.
Thanks

System.out.println("Product " + (Z+1) + " = " + List[Z]);
public static void Remove()
}I need help removing a product from the arrayYes. So what's your problem?
"Doctor, I need help."
"What's wrong?"
"I need help!"
Great.
By the way, you can't remove anything from an array. You'll have to copy the remaining stuff into a new one, or maybe maintain a list of "empty" slots. Or null the slots and handle that. The first way will be the easiest though. -
'No bootable device found - insert boot disk and press any key'
Dear all,
I just tried to install a version of Windows 7 on my Mac yesterday and used bootcamp for this purpose. Unfortunately the process could not be completed since bootcamp did not partition the hard drive as NTFS. I had to terminate the installation process and whenever I start up my Mac Mini now see a black screen telling me 'No bootable device found - insert boot disk and press any key'. I have tried to push the Option/Alt key to select the boot device but this does not work. I created a USB with a version of OSX to start from externally which also did not work and I used an older hard drive with a fully OSX system and tried to boot from that which also did not work. I am out of ideas and hope that one of you can help me.
Best regards
BernhardOS X cannot as standard write to NTFS partitions so it is likely that initially the Boot Camp utility created a FAT32 partition. This is not however a problem, when you run the Windows 7 installer either you can manually and specifically reformat that partition to NTFS or it may even do this automatically because it knows that Windows 7 can only be installed in to a NTFS partition.
Obviously if you are using the Windows 7 installer to manually reformat a partition make sure you select the right one!
It sounds like the Boot Camp utility got as far as setting the new 'Windows' partition to be the choice to boot from but of course it is currently empty. However if you are using a Windows CD/DVD disc to install from you should still be able to insert it, turn on the Mac, and hold down the letter 'C' to boot from it. If you are using a USB memory stick to install from then plug it in, hold down the Option/Alt key and turn on the Mac. Hopefully it will then list the USB drive as one of the boot choices or at least list the normal Mac boot disk.
With a Bluetooth keyboard the above keys for use during boot up may not work as mentioned by mjl2013. -

Dear all,
I have a quite specific issue in which I'm in need of some guidance and help!
Within our SharePoint I have created a custom page layout. This is a simple page to post some content (news) and a standard Note Board is implemented.
Every time a news item is placed, this is done by our communication departement, this page with standard layout is placed as a page in a page library. When there are no comments on that particular item/subject I found a solution to replace the standard SharePoint_no_posts-text
by placing a contenteditor web part in the Page Layout with a reference to a textfile with some javascript in it. This works perfectely.
The only thing left is that I want to automatically send an email to the contact (which is defined when making the news item) everytime someone posts a new comment. Here is where I need some help!
We don't really use mysites so I was wondering if someone could tell how I could do this by for example some code (javascript) which I can implement in the Page Layout.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance,

function sendMail() {
var link = 'mailto:?subject=insert subject line&body=';
var curntLoc=window.location.href;
link +=escape(curntLoc);
window.location.href = link;

Need some help with Calendar on my iPhone.
Ok folks. Need some help and it may be basic, but I'm struggling with it.
My wife and I both have iphone 5's. Both phones share one iCloud Id and one Apple ID.
So, how do we share information across the apple calendar app?
If I add something to my cal. It does not go to her. How can we get them to sync?
Please help!!!
Thank You!!Two things to check by putting the two iOS devices side-by-side. First, check in Settings > iCloud to assure that you are indeed both using the same iCloud login. Also, check that calendar is toggled on.
Then, check Settings > "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars". Scroll down to the calendars section and assure that your iCloud calendar is set as the "Default Calendar".
Then, check that Settings > "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" > "Fetch new data" is set to something suitable. Note that "Push" will be best for iCloud.
Lastly, open Calendars app, touch "Calendars" at the bottom, and assure that iCloud calendar is checked so it is visible.
Then give you calendars a try again making sure that you are posting calendar events in the iCloud calendar.
Hope this helps. -
