No Cursor for Pages
Cannot type on new pages doc because there is nor cursor visible. Other programs fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

May you try to run Pages from an other user account ?
If it behaves well we would know that the wrongdoer is in your original account.
So, it would be time to:
quit Pages
move its preferences files :
<startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.pl ist
<startupVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.LS SharedFileList.plist
on the Desktop then restart the app.
If it behaves well the culprit is one of the two preferences files.

Hi,
I am using Berkeley DB version 4.6.21.
I am creating a database file with a char string(size 15) as key and a 'C' structure as data(size 1688, including key).
Using BTREE access method.
On my system RAM is 1GB and around 30GB free disk space. Using Microsoft VC++.
I have inserted around 1,800,000 records in database, and the files size is now 4GB.
When i am trying to insert more records, i am getting the following error:-
.\data\tree_sms.data: write failed for page 524287
write: 0xb2f4dc, 8192: There is not enough space on the disk.
After some time if i tried to insert the same data(which failed earlier) i got the error value returned from DB->put function = -30966
Now i am getting these two errors randomly, sometimes 1st one and sometimes 2nd one for new data vales also.
I am not using any cursor or transaction and environment.
I used DB_DUP flag before opening.
Please help me out from this problem.

What will surely get you more specific help is to prepare a small self-contained test case that people can compile and run to reproduce the error you're seeing (possibly without clogging the disk to the tune of 4 GB), and then to post it here using code tags (the word "code" just like in HTML, only in square brackets).

I have tried using BULK COLLECT instead of cursor for loop but it did not help.
When I took out the select query separately and executed with a sample value then it gave the results in a flash of second.
All the tables have primary key indexes.
Any ideas what can be done to make this code perform better?

Raj.As suggested I'd try merging the queries into a single SQL. You could also rewrite your IN clauses as JOINs and see if that helps, e.g.

any suggestionsIt sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

You can download a document from icloud.com/iwork to your Mac or Windows computer, edit it, and then drag the revised version to icloud.com/iwork. It’s then automatically updated on all of your iOS devices. You can also drag an iWork ’09 (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) or Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) document created on your computer to icloud.com/iwork.
So it looks like it can go between iOS devices and your iMac.

How can I add a new Template to My Templates in Pages? I've read most of the discussions on the subject but it doesn't work for me. By the time I reach the Templates folder, I only see templates for Numbers and not for Pages. Need help, please. Thanks

Chez moi, il y en a une kyrielle en dehors des dossiers standards parce que je renomme wxcvb.template quasiment tous mes documents Pages et wxcvb.nmbtemplate à peu près tous mes documents Numbers.
Ainsi, quand je travaille sur un document, je ne suis pas ralenti par Autosave.

Setting Cursor - For a window and application wide
Hi,
Can somebody please help with a cursor problem ? I am not able to set the busy cursor for a frame when the application is doing some work. I have tried many methods of doing this (some of them from these forums...) but still I am not able to make this work.
1) setting the cursor before doing the work and resetting after the
work doesnt work.
2) setting the cursor for the window by calling
Window window = SwingUtilities.windowForComponent(getRootPane().getGlassPane());
window.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR));
This works but the events are not blocked by the frame i.e if i
click on any part of the window like a button or something, that
event is fired after the work is done. So this is not good.
3) created a glass pane for the window and blocked all the events. Then
set the cursor for the the glass pane. This does not work either
since the event thread is doing the work. So had to create another
thread to do the work. This works but when the cursor is reset back,
it doesnt reset. I have to move the mouse a bit to reset it. So this
is not good either.
4) created a work around for the cursor by creating a modal dialog box
saying "Processing..." in the event thread and doing the work in the
worker thread. The worker thread posts an event to dispose the
dialog box after the work is done. This works perfectly though it is
still not good because the cursor is not showing busy. Because of
the modal dialog box, the user cant do anything in the application
which is exactly what i want. Is this ok ? Can somebody provide any
other work around for this ?
5) Also I have another question for you guys. In the worker thread if i
do something like updating the gui etc., it takes a lot of time
almost 10 times more than when the work is done in a single threaded
environment. Is this because of the communication between the worker
thread and the event thread ? If I do only data related work not gui
work in the worker thread, this is fine.
I am new to Swing, so somebody please explain to me if they can.
My environment is JDK 1.1.7, Swing 1.1 on Sun Solaris 2.5.1. Is this because I am using old versions. Is this resolved in the newer versions like 1.3 etc ?

Before the reset quit Pages like this:
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. -
In Pages 09 we can do Mail Merge and Import Styles from a document. Can someone please explain how we can do this with the new version of Pages 5.1. Even Apple solutions are only valid for Pages Version 09. What a DOWN GRADE! Thank god Pages 09 is still there.

Just use Pages '09, which should be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

I downloaded some upgrade for pages, (not the new version for $19.95) now my computer will not open previous pages documents on my desktop without me buying the new version. I am not interested in the new version as I have seen numerous negative comments. I simply want my system to work as it did before Apple pulled this trick to force me into buying the new pages. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have work to do !
You are aware that Pages for Mac and Pages for iPad /iPhone/iPod are 2 different program?

Pages does not work properly if you choose to use ICloud in Settings in both the iphone 5 and Ipad 3. In fact when you click open, Pages opens momentarily and then Quits. If you de-activate use ICloud for pages in Settings then the program works but you cannot access icloud.
Thanks David for your suggestion. However I tried this before I submitted my problem but to no avail. I think the problem could be in iCloud interface with Pages! Hope apple would look into this soon!

PL/SQL block to create temporary table + load via cursor for loop
Assume I have a table that contains a subset of data that I want to load into a temporary table within a cursor for-loop. Is it possible to have a single statement to create the table and load based on the results of the fetch?
I was thinking something like:

What I see wrong with this is that the table would be created multiple times which is why this syntax is not acceptable. I'd prefer not to have to define the temporary table then load in two sepearte SQL statements and am hoping a single statement can be used.

If you're just going to iterate over the rows that are returned in a cursor, a temporary table is unnecessary and only adds complexity. If you truly need a temporary table, you would declare it exactly once, at install time when you create all your other tables. You'd INSERT data into the temp table and the data would only be visible to the session that inserted it.
