No Dimension in EVDRE builder

Hi,
We are facing a strange issue. No dimensions are visible in EVDRE builder.
This happens only with consolidation application. For all other applications able to view dimensions when trying to build EVDRE.
i have gone thru couple of forums but none of them seem to be answered.
I have tried following notes - 1537010, 1379274
what else can be tried?
we are on NW 7.5, SP5.
any thoughts/inputs appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
Update is -
EVDRE builder started showing dimension list after i have included both dimensions of type G and R in consol application.
is it ok to have both types G and R in the application? any thoughts ?
BPC should definetely improve upon messaging system. Many a time system system does not respond as expected, we will have to do lot of trail and error to identify the resaon for such behaviour.
If only BPC throws a message that certain thing is wrongly configured/placed then we can react immediately and take corrective action instead of wasting so much time on r&d.
thanks.

  • BPC 7.5 NW - EVDRE builder blank

    Hello all.
I have a problem with my BPC NW system.
I have installed BPC 7.5 SP05 in my server, and the client I am using is at SP05 Patch 2 level.
There are two Appsets: the ApShell (with Rate and Planning applications) and one more which I created.
This one is called TestAppSet, I created it as a copy of ApShell and it has 4 application: AppA, AppB,
AppC and AppD. The first three were created with Add Application, and the last one as a copy of Rate.
Then, my problem is: when I try to create an EVDRE in TestAppSet and one of the applications
I created with Add Application, the EVDRE builder comes blank, with no dimensions to select, but if
I try to do an EVDRE for AppD it works fine. It works fine too with ApShell.
I read another thread with a similar problem, EVDRe builder blank (with no dimensions)
but I think it is not my case because people say that it was
an user issue, but I have the problem with more than one user and in more than one client system. Furthermore,
the other problem was with all the applications in the AppSet, and in my case it works for some applications.
Have I got to do any configurations in the server specific to new applications? Or in the applications parameters
    to activate EVDRE?
    Thanks in advanced.
    Best regards,
    Fernando

are you running on Windows7, by any chance?
We had the same issue on Windows7 and resolved it with a registry change.
Reset below registry key value from U to <username>
    Start > Run > regedit
Navigate to below registry key and modify the userid from U to your windows/bpc userid.
    Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Personal

  • Activate the EVDRE Builder after developing a Input Schedule

    Hello Everyone,
Heading 2: I had a quick question about EVDRE.
Say U open a Builder using the EVDRE and select an Account in the Row and the Time in the column expansion.
After going thru some modification and formatting you realise that you need to also add the sort range and the Number of expansions for the Row and the column has to be increased to 3X 2 from 1X1.
Is there a way to open the builder again on the same sheet that we are developing rather than manually adding the expansions using the traditional copy paste method.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Shankar Ayapilla

    Hi,
As per my understanding you wanted the ROW and COL., expansions to be added in the template without going
outside, I mean going to EVDRE builder is it correct?  If so you can copy the Exapansion 2 and paste adjusent to it,
but make Expansion 3 and change the Dimension as per your requirement similarly for Expansion 4 and set the
memberset as per your requirement and click Expand All and Refresh it.  Then it will work.
I hope this may help you.

  • Sorting Time dimension in EVDRE

    Hi all,
This is probably an easy question that for some reason I fail to answer.
I have an EVDRE with Time dimension in the columns.
I have defined my Time dimension as 2011.Jan, 2011.Feb, 2011.Mar etc.
One line below the key I have placed a description (in Hebrew) and I have indicated to hide the column keys.
During the expansion the dimension is not sorted properly. The order (by month number) is:
    2011.Feb 2011.Jan 2011.Mar
    2011.Apr 2011.Jun 2011.May
    2011.Aug 2011.Jul 2011.Sep
    2011.Dec 2011.Nov 2011.Oct
It seems that the system sorts it first by querter and then by alphabetic order.
Any ideas how can I control the sorting of columns in EVDRE?
I have also upgraded to 7.5 SP06. I last saved the template in SP05. When I open the template I can see that the dimension is sorted properly and then during the expansion it changes the sorting order. Did any one tackle this in SP06?
    Thanks,
    Avihay

    Hi Avihay,
Actually the dimensions in reports or input schedules appear in the same order as you have maintained the hierarchy. But, yes, you can make some sort of arrangements using control panel memberset option. For eg. you can see parents after or parents before the base level members. There is no other option to change the order of members being displayed in IS or reports.
As far as your issue is concerned, even I was facing exactly the same problem. I checked time dimension membersheet and there found that 'TIMEID' property was not maintained properly. Therefore, would request you to cross-check the TIMEID property in membersheet and if it has been assgned correctly to each of the time dimension members. Goto to Maintain dimension members, change the sheet and reprocess the dimension.
I think this will resolve your issue.

  • Timelines keep switching ratio (dimensions) when I build a disc

Just started my first project in Encore and I have to say it is the most rediculous program I've ever dealt with. This is the fourth time I've tried this:
    1. Start a completely new "Project" (Blu-ray > NTSC > 1280 x 720 )
    2. Drag my menu.psd to the "Menus" panel.
    3. Drag my clips (.mov) to the "Timelines" panel (Encore creates timelines for each clip).
    4. Set up my flowchart
    5. Check the ratios of my timelines (AGAIN!). “Yep — 16:9.”
    6. Preview the project (Shift + Space). “Yep — everything looks good.”
    7. Build the disc
    8. Wait an hour
    9. Disc is done
    10. Check the disc. “The menu looks good. Oh, wait... what's this? The ratio of my clips are suddenly set to 4:3!”
    11. Go back to the project and the timelines now show 4:3 ratio in their properties panels.
    12. Punch another hole in the wall.
Any ideas? One possible problem I’ve considered is that the dimensions of my clips are 960 x 540. But my menu.psd is also 960 x 540 and it does not change proportionally on the burned disc. From what I can tell and what I've seen in tutorials and posts, is that there is no way to make custom dimensions and that the best thing to do is use the closest preset dimensions that are at least as big as your video, so I use the 1280 x 720.
Another funny aspect to this is that, if I close the project and reopen it, the ratios of the timelines revert back to 16:9.  ...makes sense, right?
I keep using the Blu-ray setup because the DVD options in the New Project dialog doesn't let me change any options.
Please, save my computer before I start stabbing at it with a knife.

In AE, I have imported .mov files with embedded audio that are 960 x 540. When I render the composition, I choose "MPEG2-DVD" from the "Format" drop-down and, immediately, I get the "Settings mismatch..." alert at the bottom of the Output Module Settings prompt window.
Hover over that "mismatch" message, and you'll see that it is warning you that your 960x540 (square pixels) is going to be resized to 720x480 (par 1.21). This would be okay if you are going to DVD.
I realize that I don't know whether you are actually going to DVD or Bluray. If Bluray, choose H.264-Bluray.
But if you go to Bluray, unless you keep the DVD size, you are going to  uprez and risk quality issues.
In any event, once you decide on a format, in the format options, click the "resize" box, and select what you want.
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 1 Pass
    Minimum Bitrate: 1.5
    Target Bitrate: 9
    Max Bitrate: 9
Having a target and max the same effectively makes it CBR at that rate. If your project is under about an hour, you can do this. If not, pick a target that is more modest (e.g. 6 or 7). I would raise the minimum to 3 or 4.
Having said all of this, AE's reputation is that it is not a good MPEG encoder. You'd be better off to use Adobe Media Encoder, or just dynamic link to Encore, set the preference for Encore to use AME, then use "Transcode Now" to transcode your movie.
There are many different paths to get to Encore.
In Encore, I dragged the .m2v files into the timelines panel and the .wav files into the project panel and then into the appropriate timeline (because the audio doesn't show automatically on the clip's timeline).
That method is fine. I just use "import as timeline," and select both. But I like your method; just select the m2v and the wav and drag both into the timeline panel.

  • Multiple Dimension using EVDRE

    Hello,
Can you kindly confirm if its possible to use EVDRE to generate a report using multiple dimension in one column and another set of dimensions in the next column?
    Example:
      Row= Account
ColumnA=  Version: Actual and Time:  2009. Jan.
Column B:  Version:  Budget and Time:  2008. Jan
    Thanks,
    Katherine

Thanks for below advise but when I tried to test it, it seems that it resulted to duplicate column.
    PARAMETER     EXPANSION 1     EXPANSION 2     EXPANSION 3
    ExpandIn                      COL                        COL                      ROW
    Dimension                      CATEGORY        TIME                      ACCOUNT
    MemberSet     ACTUAL|BUDGET     2008.JAN              SELF
    BeforeRange
    AfterRange     Sheet1!$B$37:$B$38
    Suppress
    Insert
    The end result is
              ACTUAL                  EV_AFTER               BUDGET     EV_AFTER
              2008.JAN                  EV_AFTER               2008.JAN     EV_AFTER
Actual from GL     Variance              BUDGET     Variance
              2008 JAN                  actual-budget          2008.JAN     actual-budget
    ExtSales          200.00           50                150                   50
But I only need the 3 columns, is there a formula I can use to supress the unnecessary columns its of manually deleting it?
    Thanks,
    Katherine

  • Tools for Dimension Modelling and building Aggregates

    Hello everybody,
I want to analyze and improve the dimensions of a cube and create aggregates. Please let me know if there are any standard tools/programs (in BW 3.5, but also in 7.0 if there are any improvements) to analyze the relations between characteristics in a cube. For example, I have beside others these 3 characteristics: Document Number, Customer and Date. Lets assume there is almost only one document (number) per day. This could lead into the decision of having these 2 characteristics in one dimension which you wouldnt have expected at the beginning.
Besides that, an aggregate where I throw out document number would not make any sense, because Date has the same granularity. Normally I would do that by doing some manual analysis and trial and error, but I currently have a too huge data set.
I know the RSRV and the aggregation proposals, but are there any tools that can display me the dependencies between the characteristics in a cube?
    Thanks for your help,
    best regards,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
but that's it for the design of the cube/dimensions. Additionally you can use rsrt, to run a query in debug mode to get the required information about aggregates.

  • Properties not getting updated during dimension build

    Hi-
I'm building an Account dimension. The build only updates the aggregation property and not the storage property. Any pointers at what can be the issue?

Table 39. Member Property Codes shows the proper coding for properties. As far as I know, you need to use the codes instead of the store option names. S for store, X for dynamic calc, etc.

  • Run Financial related dimension build ONLY

    Hi all,
Can we only run Financials related dimension tasks to build dimensions for one Execution Plan first, and then run Financial - GL fact for another Execution Plan?
We try to seperate Dimension workflow workload from Facts. But don't know how to create such Execution Plans.
Any help will be great appreciated,
    Regards,
    Roger

Well, reloading your facts can do no harm. But when you reload a dimension, you don't have a link to the fact anymore. Because you are generating new row_wid's.
But if it is only for testing you can use the workflow manager of informatica to only run certain mappings.
before you can do this you must assign the integration service to all the mappings (it is an option somewhere in the menu of the informatica workflow manager)
and you have to copy the DAC parameter files to the informatica srcfiles directory
No you can run the mappings 1 by 1.
(this is a common way of working).

  • Dynamic Dimension Build...which is suitable..

    Hi, Experts
i am new to implementation..I collected the members in the each dimension from the source team and next job is to build the hierarchy with all the members available in the flat files...
Just before starting, willing to know, which technique will be flexible to build...(ge,parent,lev refererence)?
    Regards,
    Vishnu.M

Consider the below things when you are building dimensions.
    Cannot build Generation 1(dimension name)
Secondary fields (member properties) must immediately follow primary field
To share members generation and level methods require a “dupgen” or “duplevel” column.
    Parent /Child shares automatically
Generation method can’t share members at different generations
Level method can share members at different generations
Parent/Child method is easiest to share and easiest to change granularity

  • Dynamic Dimension Build - Quotes

I have an ASCII data file that has some of the member names enclosed in double quotes. The file is imported twice: First, to dynamically add new members (using ?Add as Child of?) and a second time to load the data. Both imports use the same load rule file. The dimension load fails because of the quotes. The data load works fine.Is this a bug?Harold

  • Using "calc' function to show if the cell is editable(EVDRE Reports)

    Hello All,
I have a question regarding using the "calc' property in my dimension 'ACCOUNT' in a EvDRE report to display the rows as calculated or input ready cells. I have developed an input template by opening a blank workbook and typing in EVDRE(). I have listed ACCOUNT to be in the rows and Time in the columns. I have listed the memberset to be members in the ACCOUNT and SELF, DEP in the Time dimension. Whenever I expand the EVDRE, I always get the cells to be 'yellow' in color similiar to the calc format. How do I differentiate between the Calculated cell and the input cell. I was thinking to use the CALC functionality similiar to the reports/input schedules written using EVGTS/EVSND functions.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi  bpc4livin,
Take note that even though you have specified the base members as memberset in your EVDRE, still you must have base level members in your Current View in the Action pane. Remember that each data cells in an EVDRE template is an intersection of the dimension in your rows and columns plus the rest of the dimensions in your application which would come in your current view if you don't define them as memberset. So as long as there is one calculated member in your current view still the cell would be marked as calculated.
You can use EVDRE's format range to format a scpecific cell or group of cells. To activate this after you typed the EVDRE and refresh the sheet, you must check the allow formatting option in the EVDRE builder that appears. I think that there is already a default format in the format range that says that if a data cell is calculated it would be colored yellow. So if you want further knowldege on how to use the format range, you could see the Using Reports Help in the See Also section of the action pane of the BPC Excel.
    Hope this helps,

  • Dimension attributes in BPC

    Hi Gurus,
Can dimension attributes be used as selection or filtering criteria inside BPC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raffi

    Raffi,
I'm assuming that you are asking about filters for reporting purposes.  In this case, the answer is "yes" (it is "yes" for script logic as well, for that matter).
In order to build an expansion based on dimension properties in an EVDRE, open the control panel and right-click on the "MemberSet" field for the dimension you want to expand with a filter.  Then choose the "EVDRE: Build Filter" menu item.
If you are not using EVDRE you can do the same sort of thing with many of the other BPC Excel functions including EvEXP, which allows you to specify an MDX filter on dimension member properties (among other things).

  • EvDRE Property Expansion

    Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to create an expansion based on one property in a dimension. For ex.:
Dimension Entity has ID and the Property 'ManagerName'. There is no hierarchy which includes 'ManagerName'. I would like to group data by 'ManagerName', without having to expand the whole Entity dimension with its own members.
Is that possible or do I need to create a further hierarchy?
    Thx
    Elio

    Hi,
Nilanjan is right. But you can also directly build a filter by right-clicking in the Memberset cell used for your expansions (rows or columns), and choose EVDRE build filter.... then you can just decide here what property you would like your expansion to be based on. The syntax in the Memberset cell will be exactly the same than if you it directly following above example.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,
    Patrick

  • EvDRE Error Message

    Hi,
When I am sending data through Input Schedule prepared through EvDRE Function, the system is sending data
successfully but I am getting an Error Message saying -
Execute BaseLogic : Invalid Dimension ACCOUNT in lookup.
What is the implication/meaning of this Error?
If anybody is aware of this pls let me know as soon as possible.
    Thanks,
    Viral

The issue is related to your application's use of the SYSTEMCONSTANTS file, called by the Default logic.  Th esystem constants file is in the AdminApp, APPNAME, file directory.  Inside this file, the application assigns variables to each core dimension TYPE, and builds relationships for the FX translations.
Look at the *FUNCTION ACCOUNTDIM=ACCOUNT statement and make sure that your named account dimension is in place of "ACCOUNT".  This is tru for all the dimension names.
    Hope this helps.
