No export to PAR in Developer Studio

SAP people,
I installed the latest Netweaver Developer Studio (NDS), did some magic to find all the JAR files and stuff so all is fine now. I can build a sample project but I can't export it to a JAR file. I did this before on another installation so I'm not sure what I'm missing here. Do I need to install something extra?
The right-click project "Export" option shows an "EAR file" but not the "PAR file" option I was expecting.
Anyone knows how I can get my export to PAR file option back?

Nevermind, I found it.
For future reference: I was using the latest NWDS (it says something about CE) which is not the right one. Use an older version, the export to PAR functionality has been removed.

  • Error deploying PAR file from Developer Studio (NW04)

    Hello,
i've got a problem while trying to deploy a PAR file from NW Developer Studio.
    The PAR Export function says
"Unable to connect to the Portal",
the portal itself gives the following response:
"ERROR: Upload failed - exception caught: com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: Invalid content type submitted - no multipart data"
Deploying the PAR file manually using the Administration Console (system administration tab) of the portal works fine, but why doesn't the PAR Export function of NWDS?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Regards,
    Jörg

    Hi Jörg,
as a general advise, use the NWDS version corresponding to the Servers version, so in this case, upgrade (or better: install new) NWDS 2.0.14. The main reason is WebDynpro compatibility, but the deploy mechanism may need this too.
At least, give it a try and report if you have success (or not).
    Hope it helps

    Login: Administrator
    Description: Testportal
The logon Url of the portal is http://khz059:5290052900/irj/portal
If i try to upload a par file via "Quick PAR Upload" i get the error messages:
"Unable to connect to the portal
Operation failed: Please make sure the server 'IEP' (khz059:52900) is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for more detail."
Am I using the proper settings? Am I using the wrong port?
    I don't know whats wrong.
    Can anyone help me?

    Best regards,
    Nils Kloth

    Hi Nils,
I think you must have selected the defualt checkbox (Try and uncheck that). Also uncheck the checkbox for "<i>Yes, I want to remeber the password for deployment</i>" if it is also selected. When you deploy the par file now enter the password and try to deploy. I think this will solve your problem.
Apart from this, try this methos of deploying the Par file.
    1) Save you project. Right click it and "Quick par Upload".
    2) On your browser type
    "http://<your_server_name>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/"
    Your case:
    <i>http://khz059:52900/irj/servlet/prt/portal/</i>
or same page you can get by navigating:
    System Administration-> Support-> Portal Runtime-> Administration Console.
    3) At the option "Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD." Deploy your par file by giving the path.
Now you file is deployed on the server. If you want to create an Iview from this deployed .par file then :
    1) On your portal. Follow the path: Content Administrator-> Portal Content -> Portal Content(sub-option). Right click -> New from par ->iView.
    2) Here in the list you will find the par file which you have uploaded. Proceed as said.
    3) You will finally have an iView. Right click it and preview it.
I hope this solves your problem.

Pls help me to solve out this problem.....
    Thx

    Hi Riju,
The EP perspective comes as a default. What is the version of the NWDS you are working. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the NWDS and you should be all set.
    Hope this helps,

    Hello Navneet,
    Check these threads:
Problems deploying par file via Netweaver Developer Studio
Unable to Upload  portal application from NWDS
If this does not help, try deploying from
    System Administration-> Support-> Portal Runtime-> Administration Console.
At the option "Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD." Deploy your par file by giving the path.

  • Rename Project in Netweaver Developer Studio

    Hi..
I need to change the name of my project and par file from BoxOffice to com.sfa.BoxOffice.
I tried the rename option in the Netweaver Developer Studio. It does rename the file. But when i make some changes and build again..it creates the new par file with the old project name.
Even though i have renamed the project to com.sfa.BoxOffice it still creates the par file as BoxOffice.par.
Is there any other place where I need to change something?
    Thanks
    Alkesh

All you need to do is delete the par from the project.  Then export the project again, this time, make sure to change the name of the par in the dialog.
Rightclick the project, select "Export".  you will get a dialog with the par file path and file name.   Change this filename and click finish.  that's it.

  • Sap Netweaver Developer Studio Error.....

    Hi guys.
I have a problem with Sap Netweaver Developer Studio i have installed JDK and NDS in my pc and i try to make the examples, i have finished to develop the applications(without problems) but i couldn't deploy them, i have a portal server installed and running, i tried to configure the server name in the J2EE Engine Configuration but it had no effect.
    I have the next error
Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !

    Oscar,
for WebDynpro-Projects you can create an .ear-archive in the context menu of your porject ("Create archive") that you have to deploy with SDM. BUT: webdynpro requires WebApplication Server 6.40! You cant use a webdynpro-project in your current ep60sp2-installation.
for portal applications you can export a .par-arcive in the context menu of your project ("Export...", choose "PAR file") that you can import in your portal.
you can't test your application without deploying it to a server. if you haven't got a connection to the server during developing, you have to install a portal or at least a WAS6.20(Java) & EP60SP2 or WAS640(java) & EP60SP>2 locally on your computer.
if you choose to do that, i recommend the WAS6.40(Preview) because you can then develop webdynpros, too.

  • From Visual Composer to Developer Studio

Masters I need some help here!
I import into the developer studio a *.par file, made with visual composer, so I can modify it from the developer studio.
The project don't compile because the "GmlDynController" class is missing, so as there's not import sentence in the *.java file, I searched (all over the PC where was install the portal and Visual Composer) for the *.jar or folder containing "GmlDynController" and nothing I found.
I searched all over the sap's sites "GmlDynController" and nothing was display.
I only know that is a class introduce by the visual composer and if it's use must be at somewhere.
¿Does anybody could tell me where is the GmlDynController?
Thanks a lot for your time.

    Hi,
ESS content is developped in PAR... Basically these are more of Development Components(DCs)... In order to customize them , you should have NWDI...
Below blog explains how to customize....
ESS/MSS Customization – Make it Simple
If in case your customisation is minor like customizing the text, hiding/un hiding the links, then
go to the location whrere your ESS iViews are stored, click on Preview.
    It will open the iView.
Then do a (Cntrl+Right Click) on the link/image which you want to hide/unhide.... u will get the options...

  • Creation of custom page without using NetWeaver Developer Studio

    Hi Experts,
In my project, we have not installed NetWeaver Developer Studio. We are using EP 7.0.
We have to create a custom page for the project. In this page, we have to provide seperate iViews links.
The page should look like this:
    iView 1 - Link                iView 2 - Link        iView 1 - Link
Help iView 1-Link        Help iView 1-Link     Help iView1-Link
I tried to do so by creating a page. In the page, I tried to use 'Three Coloumn Page' layout. The iviews are getting displayed in following way:
iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
Help iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
iView 2(iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
I can not display link of all six iViews. Further more iViews are getting displayed in one coloumn and 3 rows. I can see the iViews directly. I am not able to display links for iViews.
I need 3 coloumns and 2 rows layout.
Can you please let me know how to achieve this?
Whether I have to create new layout? For this whether we will need NetWeaver Developer Studio?
Can we do it by creating HTML page. In the HTML page, we will have many links. These links will point to the iViews stored in SAP EP's KM. If so, what be the steps?
I know that it can be done by creating a PAR file and deploying it. But, we don't have Netweaver Developer Studio.
Can we acheive above without using NetWeaver Developer Studio?
    Please help me.
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi Kedar,
Thanks. My requirement is that six iViews links should be shown in the portal content area.
The iViews links should be like
    iView 1-Link         iView 2-Link           iView 3-Link
Help iView 1-Link Help iView 2-Link    Help iView3-Link
When user will click on any iView link, the relevant iView should be displayed.  The iView can be displayed in seperate new page. So naturally five iView link will not be displayed.
I am planning to create one HTML page and store it in KM. I will call this page in portal content area.
There will be hyperlink on this HTML page. The hyper link will be attached to other iView links in  KM.
Whenever user will click on any Help link or iView link the corresponding iView will be called from  KM.
So in KM we will store 7 objects. 3 HTMLpages for help. 1 HTML page for main page.
    Other 3 will point to iView-Link1, iView-Link2 and iView-Link3.
Can I do so? Will it sort out my problem?
    Thanks

  • ResourceBundle error in NetWeaver Developer Studio MI 2.5 SP16 Patch 3.

    SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
    Version: 2.0.19

MDK Mobile Development Kit Tools v2.5.13
    Java: j2sdk 1.4.0 Win
    Mobile client: MI 2.5 SP16 Patch 3
    Running MAU v1.0 SR 5
    Downloaded:
    MAM FOR UTILITIES 1 0 SP05 05042006
In the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio I imported the MAU_eclipse.war from MAM FOR UTILITIES 1 0 SP05 05042006 using the MDK as MAU.war.
Yet, without implementing any changes, just to test, I exported the MAU project into a war file in the following path: C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU.war.
    I renamed the existing folder C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU to MAU_Old
Then, I started MAU from within the NetWeaver Developer Studio by selecting Run, Run.
The client application launched and the new MAU.war file was automatically unpacked C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\webapps\MAU
The application opens and can be successfully logged into from the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
When the MOBILE ASSET MANAGEMENT FOR UTILITIES link is selected in the client application, error messages appear for example.
See below for the full error messages.
It appears the errors below might be somewhat straightforward, mentioning that the resource bundle could not be found.
Please assist regarding how to ensure the resource bundle can be found and properly loaded for example or what else could be the issue.
Please note that the application opens and can be successfully navigated by launching and logging into C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure\MobileEngine.exe directly.
The issue is launching from within the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio for running or debugging.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hello,
MDK plug in is as bad as NWDS itself. Since the mobile applications are really just a java application, you do not need special plugin for developing them. I STRONGLY suggest to take a look at this blog entry I did when I was working on MAM at SAP:
How to set up NWDS or Eclipse without MDK

  • EE5 Developer Studio with 2004s instance?

Can I use the developer studio bundled with the EE5 preview to write and deploy J2EE 1.3 apps to a NetWeaver 2004s instance?

    Hi Bill,
With the NWDS in the Java EE 5 Edition you can also write J2EE 1.3 or 1.4 compiant apps - for example choose Enterprise Application Project (w/o 5) or EJB Project (w/o 3.0). These will generate them as J2EE 1.4, for example you'll have to edit the deployment descriptors to make them 1.3 compliant. Just play around with it and come back if you have any further questions.
Regarding deployment - unfortunately this is not possible. In NetWeaver 04 and 04s NWDS talked to the SDM, in the Java EE 5 Edition SDM is gone, the deployment process is different. However, you can export the EAR file from the Java EE 5 NWDS and deploy it to the NW04s instance through SDM Remote GUI, for instance (or some other of the deployment options available in 04s).
    Hope it helps a bit!

  • SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 2.0.5 and PDK

    Hello,
when i installed the sap netweaver developer studio 2.0.5 have then i the pdk installed to, or have i to this separatelly? And when yes what i have to do in this case(how to install that?)? Which are the difference between with and without the pdk?
    Tanks in advance,
    Frank

The PDK contains documentation, examples, javadocs, and sample code for developing portal applications.  You don't technically need the PDK to develop EP components, but it sure helps.
The plugins in SAP NWDS facilitate building and testing portal applications by creating the correct project structure within the Eclipse IDE (NWDS) and also assisting with the deployment of the application (creation of PAR files and uploading them to the portal).  Again, you can build EP components without NWDS plugin, but the plugins sure make life a little easier.  I do know people that use other IDEs and Ant build scripts for their EP development.
    Hope this helps,
    Will
