Could anyone refresh my memory and tell me how to go about
not displaying the background within the Flash movie once you put
it in a HTML page.

    I have to agree with Ken.  Even if you manage to get Flash into the page background (no small feat) people won't be able to interact with it. That's usability problem #1.
    #2 Flash is a dead web technology because the world's most popular mobile & tablet devices cannot see Flash content.  So you're alienating a lot of people before you've even begun.
    Depending on what your Flash file contains, you might want to switch to a responsive jQuery image slider like the ones below.
    ResponsiveSlides

    Cycle 2
    http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle2/
    Or, use Adobe Edge Animate instead of Flash. Edge Animate outputs to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript which are supported by all modern devices except IE8 and earlier.  For tips on making Edge Animations adapt to screen size, see the following link.

  • I can't copy and paste text from Word to a Facebook Post since I've been using Firefox. Why am I getting the background code? Internet Explorer lets me copy text from Word to Facebook.

    I type my text in Word then open Facebook. I press Control-C to copy this text into my Facebook post and the result is that a lot of background code shows up.

    I would use the older version so you can continue working while troubleshooting continues in CC2014, if you haven't uninstalled it yet (and it didn't also lose the ability to copy/paste).
    Have you tried any of the usual suspects?

  • Best way to put flash background on website?

    Hello,
    I am very new to both after effects and flash and need some help with a few things.
    I am trying to put a flash background on my website that will loop over and over.
    I created the file in after effects but understand that it is best to export to flash to keep file size down.
    I have tried exporting from after affects using F4L, FLV, and XFL and always seem to get a file size of 2-4 MB.
    My video is only 8 seconds long and I exported at half resolution so I am unsure why it is so large.
    How can I reduce the file size?
    When I import F4L and FLV to flash and then export as an SWF file, the file does not work on my website(nothing shows). It seems to only work when I import as an XFL and then export as an SWF.
    Also, how do I get the video to loop? Do I do this in flash or in the object tags in my website?
    If anyone could please help me out that would be much appreciated.
    Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

    Don`t export to flv from after effects, instead choose png.
    You will end up with having your pictures rendered as file001.png....file200.png.
    Create a  new fla press ctrl+F8 (on PC) and then import the first of the files (file001.png) to the stage. Flash will ask you if you want to import the rest of the animation as well.
    Now from the Library you can drag your new created symbol (with the png loop) on stage. Publish it as swf.

  • HTML background matching flash background

    Hey, I have a flash website that opens as a pop up, the pop

    For future reference, this link provides some information about commissioning a custom-built widget: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/catalog/widgets/Custom_WDGT_DevService/about
    The most important thing to remember is that anything like this will cost many times more than even the msot expensive widget you can buy online, because those widgets are sold hundreds of times over before the developer recovers their costs.  Development of one-off widgets need to be fully funded by the person that wants it.  If this widget isn't worth a lot to you, but would just have been "nice to have" you're probably NOT going to be interested in what it would cost to build.

  • Background code

    Hi all,
    In a scenario where in there is a start up screen which asks for a username and password..is there any way that we can run a background code to validate the user and at the same time make the code that runs  on background not available for the enduser. That is if the user trys to debug the code for the start screen, the validation code should not be visible in the debuging mode. Is there any way that we can do this ?
    thanks and regards,
    chaitanya

    Hi,
    You can create the <b>Macro</b> which has the validation what ever you want & call the Macro in your Report. WHile debugging, the Debugger will not go inside the Macro. This way will help, Appart of that there is no way you can hide the code.
    Here is the sample code:
      DEFINE VALIDATION.
        MOVE &1 TO PAR1.
        MOVE &2 TO PAR2.
    * Write the Validation Logic here. While Debugging, Control will not come inside Macro.
      END-OF-DEFINITION.
    * Calling Macro
    VALIDATION 'Parameter1' 'Parameter2'.
    Here the Macro name is "Validation". I also mentioned how to pass the value to the Macro at runtime.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Image/Flash/Background Woes

    In my previous setup: I had a background (large) called
    back.jpg. I thne loaded a foreground called front.jpg in a table.
    Then I centered a SWF in the front.jpg that fades in. All the pages
    used this same format but some pages would flash briefly instead of
    nicely transitioning as you navigated to a different page. I got
    the bright idea that I would put front.jpg in the flash so that
    back.jpg would show up and then the swf (with the front.jpg) would
    nicely fade in. Now, when you go to the page, the back appears,
    then a large white box where the flash will go; then the flash
    appears covering the white. --My goal is a nice background, with
    the flash fading in smoothly and centered on the background,
    regardless of your screen resolution. The centering is working, the
    white box appearing does not look professional! I have been told it
    can't be done. Please advise. Attached is the old and new code.
    (The old code is from a simular old style page, but the same
    effect.)

    Describe what you want to accomplish and maybe you will get
    some help. It's unlikely that anyone is going to research some
    code/files that you found.

  • Embedded Flash Background Color Changes in iWeb

    Bit of an odd one this. I built a Flash movie with a black background, published it out, uploaded it to my web server, then successfully embedded it in iWeb.
    The trouble is when I view it in iWeb the background color of the Flash file changes to white. When I view the swf directly off my web server (not through iWeb) or directly locally (again not through iWeb) the background appears as black.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    How are you embedding the file in iWeb?
    I have an example of the code for a snippet here...
    http://roddymckay.com/VisualMedia/FlashAnimation.html
    In this you can set the background color number to black - #000000. I you can get the frame size right and the movie has a constant aspect ratio, you shouldn't have to set the background.

  • Enhanced Flash Builder Code Generation Functionality

    For voting in JIRA:
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-27169
    The code generation feature FB 4 currently has is only really useful for quick throwaway prototyping or very simple forms. The generation should allow you to configure formatting via default templates, AND optionally utilize a dialog box (similar to that used in refactoring but with a few extras) so that you can configure the contents of each generated function and provide appropriate function names according to coding best practices. For example:
    -User initiates event handler generation
    (Optional, if Codegen dialog is enabled)
    -User is prompted with a dialog that allows them to customize the generated function name, and possibly specify whether they need an Event parameter passed to the function. (Default to NO event parameter, but this could be a pre-configured user option.)
    -FB utilizes the customized code generation format (customizable by the developer) to generate the new function
    If you need a "submitForm()" function and you want both a TextInput's enter action and a button's click action to call it, currently you're better off typing it all yourself, because auto-generation is going to put this long-named function that assumes you need 'event' passed to it. An event:MouseEvent parameter just gets in the way when you also want a TextInput's enter event to call that function, for example. Or perhaps we want to provide a more descriptive name to each handler (via dialog) without assigning IDs to each and every component: "datagrid1_changeHandler" or "button1_changeHandler" doesn't tell us what the function actually does. It's a basic coding best practice to name functions or methods after the actions they actually perform, and in a large application with complex forms auto-generated generic sounding function names are essentially useless from a maintainability standpoint.

    For anyone interested, I figured it out:
    to generate a CFC, you have to right-click a table in the RDS Dataview, then you can generate a CFC. You cannot generate a CFC from an AS class as described in the CF Builder help within Flash Builder.
    Adobe: it would be nice if this got fixed – and if someone there replied to posts like this. You do  know all this, don‘t you?

  • Help! Convert simple Flash AS2 code to AS3

    Hi everyone,
    I'm a Flash beginner and followed a tutorial: http://www.webwasp.co.uk/tutorials/018/tutorial.php ... to learn how to make a "live paint/draw" effect. I didn't realize  that if I made something in AS2, I wouldn't be able to embed it (and  have it work) into my root AS3 file, where I've got a bunch of other  stuff going on. I've tried following tips on how to change AS2 code to  AS3, but it just doesn't work. I know it's simple code, and that some  genius out there can figure it out, but I'm at a loss. Please help!
    Here's the AS2 code:
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("myLine", 0);
    _root.onMouseDown = function() {
       myLine.moveTo(_xmouse, _ymouse);
       ranWidth = Math.round((Math.random() * 10)+2);
       myLine.lineStyle(ranWidth, 0xff0000, 100);
       _root.onMouseMove = function() {
          myLine.lineTo(_xmouse, _ymouse);
    _root.onMouseUp = function() {
       _root.onMouseMove = noLine;
    Thanks in advance!
    Signed,
    Nicolle
    Flash Desperado

    Considering the code is on timeline:
    var myLine:Sprite = new Sprite();
    addChild(myLine);
    var g:Graphics = myLine.graphics;
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onMouseDown);
    function onMouseDown(e:MouseEvent):void {
         var ranWidth:Number = Math.round((Math.random() * 10) + 2);
         g.clear();
         g.lineStyle(ranWidth, 0xFF0000, 1);
         addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, onMouseMove);
         addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, onMouseUp);
    function onMouseMove(e:MouseEvent):void {
         g.lineTo(mouseX, mouseY);
    function onMouseUp(e:MouseEvent):void {
         removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, onMouseMove);
         removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, onMouseUp);

  • Flash Builder code color appearances issue (!!)

    Okay, so I just spent about 15 - 20 minutes reformatting the color appearances of my code display (it really helps when programming at least 8 - 10 hours a day with large code files). Everything was about fine after making a bunch of adjustments (got the background dark blue, general code light blue, comments green, traces orange etc), and then all of a sudden these customizations are gone, and all my code is monotone color (everything light blue on dark blue).  The preferences still show the changes I made tho!  I've switched to an alternate work space, and the unique color appearences there have persisted.  I've also restarted FlashBuilder, and that had no resolved.
    Grrrrrrrr!!!
    Anyone know what's up with this?
    [ PS -  I won't rant on about how unusable it is to have various elements of this process buried and scattered across at least 3 different parts of the IDE preferences, but hint: Adobe, If you want to demonstrate to your developers how to create usable RIAs, be sure the IDEs are highly usable. ]

    Mark - so you see click in the drop down and you select it so that your code now says:
    <s:Button click="" />
    and the code lookup now shows "Generate Click Handler" between the click double quotes?
    What happens if you place your cursor between the double quotes in the click event and type ctrl+spacebar?
    Can you share a screenshot of what's happening?

  • Flash embed code

    i have the impossible question: I want to create and empty stage in flash then basically load the HTML content from another page inside flash ... like if the html file has embed code in it of a video ... then it must play that video ...

    It should have also added the script source call at the top
    of your page:
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    and created a Scripts folder in your webroot with the JS file
    in it. Make sure the code is there, the folder witht he JS is there
    in the right directory structure and that you've uploaded the
    Scripts file to your server as well.
    Hope that helps!

  • Flash Background Issue

    Hi,
    I created a flash application that is dynamically displaying xml feeds from content partners. This flash application has a black background and will be called and displayed from the C# windows application. The issue is sometimes when our application loads the flash swf file, the background color turns white so the text being displayed are not readable anymore since they are white. This intermittent and I am using flash cs 5 actionscript 3. Before I was relying on the stage background but after I saw the issue, I already used a solid background container like (vector, png, gif, or jpeg).
    Any thoughts why this is happening?
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi, Ned.
    Thanks for the reply. I don't think it failing to load the xml file as the content is being displayed but just not been seen since the text and background are of the same color when this happens.
