No flash elements panel in DW3

I am working my way through Adobe's "Classroom in a Book" for
DW3. An exercise requires me to make changes in the Flash Elements
Panel, but I can not find this panel, or any reference to it in any
menus or windows.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
OttO

As I try to figure this out, I think I am at least getting a
better idea how to explain the problem.
These instructions from the text book may help you direct me
in the right direction:
* first you insert the Flash element object onto the page
from the insert > media menu.
* Finally, you save an instance (or copy) of the Flash
element as a SWF file in your site.
* Next, you configure the various Flash element properties
through a custom Dreamweaver panel.
These instructions then explain,
" Each Flash element is unique in its number and type of
properties available; the Image Viewer, for example offers 20
different user-definable options."
I should further clarify (I hope), that when I follow these
instructions and go to insert the Image viewer from the insert
media menu, I do not have Image viewer as an option in the list of
media I can insert. There is:
Flash Button
Flash Text
Flash Paper
Flash Video
and then other media like shockwave etc.
I seem to have to insert this "Image Viewer" to have the
Flash Elements Panel appear, as the text book goes on to explain:
" Choose Insert > Media> Image Viewer.
When the Save Flash Element dialog box appears, navigate to
the lesson 11 assets folder and, in the file name field enter
slideshow.swf. Click Save.
The Flash elements panel appears with its list of properties
It seems to me I do not have, or can not find "Image Viewer"
as an option when inserting media, which would then give me the
Flash elements panel.
Sorry for the round about way I have approached this problem.
I backed-up a bit in the lessonto help explain my predicament.
Something I should have done to start.
Again, Thanks for your help.

  • Flash element panel does not appear when Flash is selected in DW3

In DW3 (Win7) After creating several slide shows using image viewer and months later when I want to edit the image viewer.. When I click on the flash slideshow that I created in image viewer in order to edit it and the Flash Elements panel does not appear on the right as it did before. I have the Tags panel open and it has changed to Flash elements in the past but it is no longer appearing. This happened with a friends DW3 also.

    DW3 or DW CS3?

  • How to access Flash elements panel in DW SC3?

when I insert Image Viewer and every time I click on it the
Flash elements panel shows up automatically.
However if I close the panel group, I can no longer get the
Flash elements panels when I click on the Viewer and I can't find
any access or menu that opens this panel. The only way I found is
to create a new viewer and undo. Does anyone know how is one
suppose to access this panel after being closed?

    1.  First, minimize the file panel by clicking in the dark bar at the very top of the file panel (the one that has a little arrow on the right side), which will make the file panel tiny (no file names will be shown).  Unless you have previously removed assets and snippets by dragging their tabs out and closing them, the tiny file panel will be attached to the asset panel and snippets panel, so you will be minimizing all of these at once.
    2.  Next, drag the file panel to the level that has tabs saying, Code, Split, Design.
    3.  Then drag the file panel to either the far left of the screen or far right of the screen, which will cause it to dock.
    4.  Finally, click the tiny arrow on the top right of the dark bar of the file panel; this will expand the file panel again so that you can see your file names. It will also expand the assets panel and the snippets panel if they are attached.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer Flash Element

Here at Cleveland State University, I offer basic training
classes for most Adobe products. We are in the middle of a complete
    overhaul of the
    http://www.csuohio.edu space. Our
goal to is to create an attractive, website with a consistent look
and feel that makes it easier for our faculty and staff to update
on a more frequent basis. In doing so, we have created a series of
pages that can be easily edited in Dreamweaver CS3. One item we
would like to fully support is the DW CS3 Image Viewer - Flash
Element. However, we have hit a small layout snag.
On the main pages of most college and departmental sites, a
specific space with a finite size is set on a web page for the
image viewer. A site editor then creates images in Photoshop that
are that exact size. The image viewer element is configured to be
that exact size as well. Furthermore, the picture "frame", title,
caption and controls are hidden in the Flesh Element panel.
However, when the page is previewed either in Dreamweaver or in a
browser, the images have been shrunk. There is always a border,
whether it is white or some other color. I assume the color is the
stage color of the Flash .swf file. This causes a misalignment of
the images and the other text.
Another issue is the links that automatically created. Some
of our editors have asked me why, even though they specifically
leave the imageLinks area blank, links seem to be created pointing
    to the Adobe.com website.
My questions: is there no way to force the Flash element to
respect the size of the pictures so that no border is showing? Is
there no way to leave the Im
I've done a search on the Adobe.com support site and on the
web and noted that several people have posted questions concerning
this. Unfortunately, no one seems to know what to do about it.
I can send links if you would like to see an example. I'd
greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

I'm just a user, like you. And I'd rather you not send things
    directly to
me unless I request you to do this. If you have a problem
    that cannot be
solved here, then your next option would be to contact Adobe
    Tech Support
directly. I'm not very familiar with the Flash side of DW, so
    I cannot be
of much help in this regard.

  • Adobe Configurator and deprecated Flash-based panel support in Adobe CC products

Does Configurator 4.0 (or Configurator 3) support the creation of HTML5-based panels?
I received the following email from Adobe:
Photoshop CC, starting in the middle of 2014, will remove support for Flash-based extensions. All other Creative Cloud products have already marked Flash-based panel support as deprecated at this time, meaning no future enhancements or bug fixes will be coming for Flash-based extensions.
The current version of Photoshop CC already includes support for a new type of HTML5 based panel. We are currently working on a new version of Adobe Extension Builder designed specifically to support the creation of these HTML5 based panels.  You can download a free preview here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/extensionbuilder3/.
Details about developing HTML5 extensions for Photoshop as well as for other Creative Cloud products are available in the Extension Builder pre-release program here: https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=6V6IgvE0yLQQ7bgadxNXaw .   You can also join the Photoshop developers' prerelease program for details specific to Photoshop.  If you're interested, please let me know and I will get you setup.
Will the panels created by Configurator 4.0 work in PS CC after the middle of 2014 when support for Flash-based extensions is removed from Photoshop CC?  For that matter, will the panels created in Configurator 3.0 work in PS CC after the middle of 2014?

I've carefully read all the posts here and would like to give my feedback on the whole question. I'm a professional retoucher and a teacher as well, and during my professional carrer I've built dozens of panels.
I do really take advantage of boosting my productivity with any customized panel, as automation is something that adds speed, reliability and dramatically reduce errors during repetitive tasks. Therefore, I can't live without it.
Now, I  understand why Adobe wants to move towards HTML 5, but please give us the ability to keep our work at the same level of efficiency we currently have. Photoshop is not for amateurs, it's a professional software. And professionals must keep their productivity, for sure they can't afford any loss of it, especially in these times!
Moving from Flash to HTML 5  means rebuilding all the existing panels from scratch: how much this will cost to us in terms of time (and money) if we could have an HTML 5 version of Configurator? And how much, if we don't have a tool like Configurator at all? Three times, ten times as much? Maybe Adobe knows the answer, not me, I'm not a coder. But I'd like to know this answer.
Further, picture this: I've taught several classes for at least  five intercontinental companies on how to build actions and organize them into panels for improving their productivity. Every time the response was the same: BOOM!
They had a huge speed improvement in their daily workflows, and started to build dozens of panels by themselves for any possibile use. It was like opening a Pandora's box for them (their words).
Every one who attended my classes, have taught the same topic inside their company and the reaction was always the same. So now, in every company in which I've taught building panels and actions, there are hundreds of panels for many different uses, all over the world. Of course, as 100% of them were specifically built for internal use, they shared the panels among them, but not outside their company.
Many of them who are now mid-advanced users, have written to me asking how they could keep their panels working correctly in the next CC version of Photoshop. I have no solution for them, unless many of them become coders. That's a bad answer, I must admit, but no way out right now.
Their reply to me was very straight: "well, we won't upgrade any copy of Photoshop until we can keep our panels working correctly for sure. For us is much more important being productive and efficient than upgrading to the latest version, if this means to lower our performance, no doubt."
Adobe wanted to integrate all their softwares into the Creative Cloud. So far so good, I'm for it. But when you decide to integrate everything saying to the world that "it's for the sake of a better productivity", then you must really integrate them. Otherwise people will think that it was only a commercial move. So why we can't build panels for the applications inside Muse, for example? It was introduced to allow people to build  websites quickly and efficiently using HTML 5, taking care about the layout instead of investing too much time in coding.
Exactly what Configurator allowed to do. Focus on the result with minimal time cost, aka money cost.
World is running faster, therefore we need to work faster too. And without Configurator we won't. I can't disagree with all the people that won't upgrade Photoshop, if this means that they'll work slower because they can't use their panels carefully made by themselves. Photoshop is a tool for producing ideas and other nice stuff, like any software. The faster it is, the most people will like it, the better will sold. A simple truth. Think about what happened to Apple Finalcut ProX and how many users switched to Premiere. Photoshop has no competitors except new versions of itself.
And this does not apply only the CC users. Look at the bigger picture: how many users still using CS6 with all their fully working panels won't upgrade to CC if they know they'll reduce their productivity?
    Think about the answer. Carefully.

    Hi,
The issue here is the mapping of the interface to the service in question, and usually points to a possible mistype or rename of something within your service architecture.
You need to make sure your namespace and service name here match your service name itself.

  • Flash element - change pointer from arrow to hand in Director

    Hi everyone,
I build a pop-up box in flash that I want to use in Director.
It is sort of a tab, that hides in a corner of the screen and when
the user rolls over it, it slides out showing some buttons. How can
I tell director to change the pointer into a hand when the user
rolls over the buttons inside my flash element (not when it rolls
on the tab itself)? Also, can I code these buttons to open PDF
documents from Director, even thou it was made in flash... if so,
    how?
    Thank you for your help!
    Rafael.

    > How can I tell director to change the pointer

    my flash element (not
    > when it rolls on the tab itself)?
Check the docs for 'hitTest' and/or 'mouseOverButton', or
    alter the
Flash file so that it tells Director to change the cursor whn
    appropriate.
    > Also, can I code these buttons to open PDF

    flash... if so, how?
Either use 'setCallback', or add some AS to your Flash file
    telling
    Director what to do.
    getURL("lingo: mHandler");
will call the handler #mHandler in a #movie script, while
    getURL("event: mHandler);
will call the handler #mHandler in a score script attached to
    the Flash
    sprite

  • Grey boxes around my flash elements?

I currently run a website that is set up with several flash
elements butted up next to each other using tables (
    http://www.deltasoniccarwash.com).
This method used to be fine. The tables were invisible to the user.
With the latest update of internet explorer this is no longer the
case for pc users. Now when my site is viewed in Explorer 7 (on a
PC) grey boxes appear highlighting my table when a user scrolls
over them. My flash rollovers do not work until a person clicks
into the box. I've looked at several other flash sites and this
problem is not seeming to affect them. Can someone please point out
what I'm doing wrong. Thank You.

Geez... two years now it's been like this and this question
    is _still_ being

F9 on Windows opens the Tag Inspector. So try from the top
    menu: Window -> Tag Inspector.

  • Display flash elements based on Coldfusion Query

I would like to have my page display certain flash elements
that are dictated by the html content on the main part of the page.
The main content would come from a query that contains primary
keys. Now, the question is, can I get flash to display the
corollary ads based on the primary keys?
What is the basic protocol for this type of integration? Can
I do this with AS3 somehow? What is the best way to get flash to
'listen' to the query and execute?
This is also on the CF forums. Wasn't sure where to post
    exactly...
    Thanks in advance

  • Web Browser Flash Elements

Maybe I'm asking way too much of poor old OS 9. But if I could fix this issue, OS 9 would be SO much more useful for me...
There are some websites that simply cause Mozilla to crash and burn. (Including Mozilla 1.3.1, WaMCom Mozilla 1.3.1, and Netscape 7.02. Given that all three of these browsers seem to share the same basic binaries, they all seem to sorta crash on some websites no matter what I do.)
An example is usaa.com. One I log in and try browsing through the site, Mozilla/Netscape will show the "watch" cursor, and the system will be unresponsive until I force-quit and reboot the computer.
My first course of action was to troubleshoot Java. I used to have Mac Runtime for Java version 2.2.5, but decided to update it to version 2.2.6 -- no change.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Shockwave Flash NP-PPC version 7.0 r73 -- no change.
I have fudged around with the preferences in Mozilla and Netscape, even dumped the preference file and started from scratch -- no change.
I took an alternate approach and tried using iCab version 3.0.5. iCab works OK, but anytime there is a flash element, the web page just says "loading" with the spinning gear on that particular flash element, and never really loads anything. iCab will load YouTube videos fine, but if I log in to usaa.com, it says "loading" infinitely with that spinning gear. Also, if I try using facebook.com, and I "ignore" or "accept" various invitations, it will also hang on "loading" that web page element forever and ever....
Another issue is that Mozilla and iCab both let me log in to me.com (holy cow, yes it did.) But, I am having the same issue as above, in that it usually causes Mozilla/Netscape to crash, and/or it causes iCab to hang on "loading" with that darn spinning gear in the web page.
So I was wondering if anyone here happens to use these websites on a regular basis with OS 9, and if so, what the best ways are to navigate through them? Am I missing something?
I can boot to Tiger just fine, but I would love to get OS 9 to do the job, too.

I do most of my internet tasks (forums, info surfing, weather, financial, etc.) using Mozilla 1.3.1 with OS 9.2.2. But I experience some of the same problems you have. Some sites require a Flash version higher than v7 (max for OS 9). Some sites just don't render properly. I can't access my American Express site for bill pay. I think java incompatibilities is a problem. But I still get freezes sometimes & have to force quit. I have allocated about 10X more memory to Mozilla, but still ge the freeze. Mozilla, like a lot of browsers suffers from memory creep when you've on-line for a long time. I think this large memory reqmt also causes the freeze.
For example, check the amount of memory (click on About this Computer under the Apple menu) for Mozilla when you first open it. Then after you have been on-line for a while, check it again.
Both Mozilla & Netscape are over 5 years old. Most web designers will/should check their HTML designs for proper page rendering using the current PC & Mac web browsers. But Mozilla & Netscape are too old; and Internet explorer from that era is worse.
When I'm booted in Tiger I use Firefox to view the OS 9 problem sites &pay my AE bill. Even Mac users with Safari/Panther have problems with some sites.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Flash element over html

I'm trying to create something similar like on this site
    http://www.mitsubishimotors.com/MMNA/jsp/index.do
there are 2 flash element on this page the top big image and
the bottom image slide show. My question is when you rollover on an
image on the slide show, the image extends up. How can we do that?
the slide show which is a flash element is about 150px height but
when we rollover it it's about 300px height. Do they use layers in
html? Is there any tutorial for that?

Getting a step-by-step understanding of what is done in Flash
    is a major
undertaking that I would not have the time or patience for.
    If you want to
duplicate this complex Flash site, much good luck to you.
The site makes use of no less than ten external actionScript
    files (*.as.)
to load, manage, and unload a variety of content.
The "apparent" gap between the "upper" and "lower" Flash
    elements is no gap
at all in my opinion. Per the html of the containing page,
    the window-mode
is set to transparent, making it seem to be two elements with
    that "gap"
being a transparent area of a single Flash movie. all Flash
    is rendered over
or on top of the HTML, a quasi layers sort of thing.
The slide show is 226 pixels tall with initial content 113
    pixels tall
appearing in the bottom and expanding upward upon the
    mouseOver event.
