No HTTP access through Illustrator?

So is there no way to access HTTP through Illustrator scripting?  I've tried the one trick I found searching the forums of copying over webaccesslib.dll/netio.dll/coretypes.dll from Bridge but can't get it to work (I just get an 'Error 53: I/O error' when I try to load webaccesslib with the ExternalObject) and according to the Javascript toolkit docs Illustrator doesn't support the Socket object so I can't even write it myself.
I need to make a request to a URL to pull in some custom information but so far am at a loss as to how else to do this.

here is a sample script, getting web contents through bridgeTalk.
//bridgesoc_sample.jsx
var cnnct = new Socket;
    if (cnnct.open("chuwa.iobb.net:80", "binary")) {
        cnnct.write("GET /tech/images/sample1-thumb-240x125.jpg HTTP/1.0\n"
                        + "Host: chuwa.iobb.net\n"
                        + "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; ja)\n"
                        + "Connection: close\n\n");
        var rply = cnnct.read(999999);
        cnnct.close();
    f =new File("/test.jpg");
    if(f.open('W')){
        f.encoding = "BINARY";
        f.write(rply);
        f.close()
        }</p>
//main.jsx
var bt = new BridgeTalk();
bt.target = "bridge";
bt.body = uneval (getResource)+"()";
bt.onError = function (){
     alert ('Error has occured.');
bt.send();
function getResource(){
    var a = new File('/bridgesoc_sample.jsx');
    if (a.open("r")){
        cd = a.read();
        a.close();
        eval(cd);
Its work fine.
You don't want through bridge, use custom external object to make your own.

  • Remote panel and selective control access through Security with DSC

    Hi Everyone,
    I looked around to see what labview had to offer concerning security of remote panel and all the solutions I've found only propose full access to a remote panel, or none. The login page is not an option for me as everyone on the intranet can access the remote panel for monitoring but not everyone can have control to the buttons on it.
    With the DSC module, I can give securities to the different controls and it works great with the exe, if I log in or out, the controls appears or disapears. Unfortunately, with remote panels, those controls are always visibles. Furthermore, when I log in from a remote panel, all the other remote panels get logged in with the same username and priviledges. When I log out, same thing, it logs out all the other remote panels. So the last guy who logs in gives its priviledges to every one else who is monitoring the remote panel at that time. when he logs out, he logs everyone out. I used a reentrant vi hoping that this would solve the problem but it didnt.
    I would like to do what my colleague does with Advantech without any problem. He has only 1 .exe is running on the server and whoever connects to it through webserver, just needs to log in and he has all the priviledges of an guest, operator, admin, etc.. with access to controls and features accordingly. All this without interfering with the other people using the remote panels. This colleague has always been doubtful about the capabilities of labview to do SCADA systems and uptil now, I've been able to prove him wrong.. please help me continue
    There are workarounds, using remote desktop to the server instead of webserver but it definitely is not as practical for the client and it will need quite some work to to synchronise all the exes open from the differents sessions, through the use of shared variables, binding and securities.
    Thank you for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you very much for your reply Jordan.
    The NI security info is on the server (local domain with groups and users), and the running exes as well. The remote panel is not supposed to be accessed by internet, at least not yet, but just by the computers on the network and thinkline computers who are directly connected to the servers. the remote panel is accessed through the simple url: http://serverip/Application.html
    There is no problem with accessing the remote panel of the exes on the server from another computer on the network. But there are several security issues when logging in and out with the NI Security Programmatic Login and logout VIs through the remote panel..
    The 1st problem occurs when several people access the remote panel at the same time. In my setup, everyone is allowed to check what's happening on the front panel of the running exe, go through the tabs, check the graphs, the tables, etc.. , but only the administrators and the operators can send commands to the machines and the production line through this remote panel. Hence some buttons are accessible to all users, while others are only accessible depending  on the privileges of the person logged in.
    So like I said in the 1st post, I configured some buttons to be accessible only by the users of the admin group. When the exe runs, it's perfect, if I log in and out with an admin account, the buttons appears and disappear accordingly. But when I check the remote panel, those admin buttons are always visible, even if I am logged in as a guest or even logged out. Is it because the remote panel only needs minimum runtime engine and doesnt use the dsc runtime engine? if so, any work around?
    Furthermore, another big problem is that if I login as an admin in one remote panel, then login as an guest in another remote panel, and then logout back from the first remote panel, it says: "User Domain/Guest logged out". Hence, my second login logged out my first user. I can actually see the admin buttons appearing and disappearing on the exe when login as admin and guest from the different remote panels.
    So that's it, I would like my remote panel to behave like a normal scada system, with one exe running in the back (on the server) and with all the users accessing it through web server. Several users might/will access the remote panel at the same time and each of the users have a login/password that grant some of them the privileges to take some actions while giving the others only monitoring rights.
    I hope that I have been more clear in this 2nd post,
    Thank you again for your time.
    Best Regards,
    Tom.

  • Internet Access through TMG for all HO & Branch office

    Dear Experts!,
    I am new to the Forefront TMG 2010. Have requirement to implement internet access.
    Head office : 192.168.11.x/24 (192.168.11.1 is the TMG server)
    Branch Office 1: 192.168.12.x/24
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.14.x/24
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.16.x/24
    Forefront TMG 2010 standard edition.
    Having 3 NIC's two have different ISP network addresses and one has 192.168.11.1.
    Branch office are connected using MPLS network, the requirement is all branch site internet must be accessed through TMG 2010 server which is homed in Head Office. How to achieve ?
    What needs to be done in external firewall and in TMG for enabling internet access.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ganesh,
    Hope this helps
    1 - If you wish to give internet as Proxy to users.
    Ensure the Below subnet is able to reach TMG Internal Interface that is 192.168.11.1
    Subnet
    Branch Office 1: 192.168.12.x/24
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.14.x/24
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.16.x/24
    Configuration
    Enable Proxy in TMG and configure Proper Ports as per your requirements
    On the Client IE – Ensure you put Proxy IP as TMG and Port configured in TMG configuration.
    Enable a Rule
    Access Rule
    Source : Internal
    Destination : External
    Ports : HTTP / HTTPS
    Users : Authenticated Users
    2 As normal Internet as Gateway to users
    You need to request your MPLS provider to change the Default Route of below subnet to 192.168.11.1. By doing this, all the internet request from the below subnet to internet will hit TMG.
    Subnet
    Branch Office 1: 192.168.12.x/24 Default Route 192.168.11.1
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.14.x/24 Default Route 192.168.11.1
    Branch Office 2 : 192.168.16.x/24 Default Route 192.168.11.1
    IF you have any L3 Switch then you can also make Default gateway as L3 for all the subnet and from L3 device point it to TMG
    Enable a Rule
    Access Rule
    Source : Internal
    Destination : External
    Ports : HTTP / HTTPS
    Users : All Users ( Important )
    Two ISP
    In network Rules : You need to use NAT
    You will have a Rule which NATS internal to  External
    On external - Choose which ISP interface should be used  and Apply NAT rule

    You can also use the HTTP-DC project.... You don't
    need Web Enterprise for this. From what I can tell,
    this is available in L.x on....
    There is api documentation in M.2 (with scant
    examples.)
    There's a special process to put the project in your
    repository (it isn't installed in the repository in
    the standard install,) the documentation in M.2
    (probably in M.0 too, AFAIK) that tells you how to do
    this (look for HTTP-DC in the online help.)
    I haven't done much with it yet, I've just installed
    it. If anybody out there has examples, that'd be
    great. I'll try to contribute more the moment I get a
    chance to explore it....

  • Samba server cannot be accessed through Finder's 'Network'

    Hi,
    First off, I'm not sure that this is the right forum for me to post this topic, but all the Samba related questions seemed to be coming from here. I don't own a computer with Windows, so I'm not interested in Windows compatibility per se, but I am interested in having my Mac Powerbook connect with a Linux Server (using Samba).
    So I think Samba is working fine. I believe this to be the case because I can run:
    smbclient -L morbo
    from my Mac and get a list of shares (the linuxbox is called morbo).
    I can also access a share using:
    smbclient //morbo/nanoo
    and I can see the files in the /home/nanoo directory of the linuxbox.
    So far so good. However my reason for setting up Samba was to be able to find shares in the 'Network' section of my Finder. I use the commandline a lot on the linuxbox, but on the Mac I prefer not to open a terminal if I don't have to. Here is the where the problem occurs. Morbo will show up in the Network section (although this takes quite some time), however trying to connect to it inevitably crashes my finder. I have tried this several times and each time Finder crashed and had to be relaunched.
    Any idea what could be wrong here? It would seem to be that Samba can't be to blame seeing as the shares can be accessed through smbclient - is it a configuration problem on the Mac?
    Many thanks in advance,
    nanoo

    I'm having the same issues. Which Linux/Samba versions are you running? (Ubuntu 6.04/Samba 3.0.14a here), apparently a bad combo!
    Here's the results of the "hang" from my server's Samba log:
    [2006/03/21 01:02:24, 0] rpcparse/parse_prs.c:prs_memget(537)
    prsmemget: reading data of size 2 would overrun buffer.
    [2006/03/21 01:02:24, 0] rpcserver/srv_pipe.c:api_pipe_bindreq(919)
    apipipe_bindreq: unable to unmarshall RPCHDRRB struct.
    This seems like the most likely candidate:

  • No access through hostname

    Hi,
    if I want to access to my webserver (on my lion server), I just have access throug the servers ip-address.
    But I have no access through my hostname.
    These problem exists just if I want to use the webserver from another computer or iPhone in my network.
    thanks

    Your server has a hostname e.g. "myappleserver.local" or "myappleserver.john.local"....
    In your network you can acces your server through this hostname.
    So if you configure iCal on your iPhone (create account - CardDav-account) you can set the server with the server's ip or the server's hostname (e.g myappleserver.local).
    With the hostname you can also access the webserver (try it - open safari and write your hostname in the url-task, but don't forget to turn the webserver on).
    If you work with more routers or want to access from internet, don't forget portforwarding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwarding)

  • WRT54G ver. 5 HTTPS Access

    What must I do to obtain and install a valid SSL Certificate for the Linksys WRT54G version 5 router??   Secure access is essential for remote administration.
    Using Administration > Web Access, I enabled (only) HTTPS for secure access.  At some point, the user interface apparently launched a "wizard" which proceeded to create a "certificate".  However, when I subsequently tried to access the router with IP https://192.168.1.1  Firefox 3.0.4 reported:
    192.168.1.1 uses an invalid security certificate.
    The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
    The certificate is only valid for <a id="cert_domain_link" title="Linksys">Linksys</a>
    (Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)
    What must I do to obtain and install a valid SSL Certificate for the Linksys WRT54G version 5 router??  Firefox will not display the log-on dialog, thus it will not allow access to the router.  Internet Explorer 7 also displays an error message that is rather vague and cryptic, and it also does not allow access to the router.  Neither Firefox nor I.E. have a "security certificate" that pertains to the router, only one to send when a server requests it.
    According to Linksys, the most recent revision of the WRT54G firmware is installed.
    What must I do to obtain and install a valid SSL Certificate for the Linksys WRT54G version 5 router??
    --- Stardance
    Stardance
    nil carborundum illegitimi!

    For Firefox click on "Or you can add an exception…", press the "Add Exception..." button, in the new popup, press the "Get Certificate" button, make sure to "Permanently store this exception" and press the "Confirm Security Exception" button. That's it. This is what I meant with "accepting the certificate". If that does not work in your Firefox then it must be a Firefox problem on your computer. It works fine on my computer and it seems to work fine with Internet Explorer on your computer.
    If you want to examine the certificate you can do so, after you have pressed the Get Certificate button. It is a self-signed certificate with name "Linksys". It is stored in the router.
    If you "Confirm Security Exception" in Firefox the certificate is stored in the "Certificate Manager" (Tools - Options - Advanced - View Certificates). There you can remove it again if you don't want it anymore. Internet Explorer works similar and also has a certificate manager.
    So on my computer both Firefox and Internet Explorer behave the same even if they call and label things differently. They both see the self-signed certificate from the router and require you to manually accept the connection before you can continue. On both you will get to the router web interface. On both you have the choice to permanently remember the certificate. I see no substantial difference between Internet Explorer and Firefox in this respect.
    Re (1) You wanted to know how to create a valid SSL certificate on the router. First of all, the certificate presented is the certificate which identifies the router. Of course, you see this error message because the router has only a dummy certificate installed which allows you to use SSL, but it won't correctly identify the router.
    Thus what you write in (1) about the computer is irrelevant. It is not the computer which identifies itself but the router. You connect to the HTTPS server on the router. The HTTPS server on the router has the certificate. This certificate is supposed to identify the HTTPS server. If you click on https://mail.google.com or some other standard https website in the internet which has a valid correct certificate you can right-click into the web site in Firefox and choose "Page Info". Click on Security. It shows you some information on the certificate. For more details press "View Certificate".
    There are two essential parts:
    A. "Issued To". This section contains the hostname to which you are connected to. This is "mail.google.com". If this does not match with the hostname in the URL then you will get a certificate error message. If you use one of the IP addresses of mail.google.com https://66.249.89.18/ instead, you'll see a certificate error message, simply because the 66.249.89.18 is not the same as mail.google.com which is in the certificate.
    B. "Issued By". This is the issuer of the certificate, i.e. the "Certification Authority" which issued the certificate. You see "Thawte SGC CA" there. If you click on "Details" in the Certificate Viewer you'll see that actually the "Thawte SGC CA" certificate was itself issued by Verisign. The Verisign certificate is a "Builtin Object Token" of Firefox, i.e. by default Firefox trusts everything which is signed by Verisign and anything which is signed by anyone who was signed by Verisign, etc. Windows has the Verisign certificate built-in, too.
    The router certificate is self-sign and has now proper "Common Name" set. The common name is "Linksys". This is in the Issued To and Issued By sections, which means the certificate was signed with the own key.
    In order to be a "valid SSL certificate" which is accepted without any user interaction, the certificate must
    (i) contain the correct hostname/IP address in the "Common Name", i.e. it must be identical to what you enter in the URL.
    (ii) it must be signed by Verisign or similar.
    (iii) it must not be expired.
    (iv) installed inside the router.
    But again, the problem is:
    Re (i): the router has 192.168.1.1 in the LAN, but unknown IP addresses and hostnames in the internet. It is impossible to preinstall a correct certificate on the router except for 192.168.1.1 with obviously little effect on the remote management access through the internet which uses the public IP address.
    Re (ii): to obtain a Verisign certificate the router would have to submit a certificate request to Verisign, pay the $$$ bill, wait for the certificate to be issued and then install it. Of course, Verisign won't create a certificate for 192.168.1.1 and they will probably verify that the public IP address or the hostname given is really yours.
    Re (iii): Verisign server certificates expire after one year. You have to renew the certificate and pay $$$ again.
    So the only really feasible way to get a "valid SSL certificate" into the router would be to add some function to the interface which allows you to either upload a certificate&key to the router or to download a certificate request from the router and upload a certificate. With the request you could go to Verisign and get a certificate issued. This is what Google does for Google Mail. They create the certificate request for mail.google.com, pay the hefty bill and get the certificate from Thawte/Verisign.
    For Google it is worth it. I doubt it is worth it for your $50 router to buy a one-year certificate signed by Verisign costing probably $500 or more just for the sole purpose that you can open your remote management interface without an error message which requires you to add an exception the first time you access the page.
    Re (2). I hope the above makes clear why the router does not come with a Verisign certificate. Of course Linksys could buy one certificate from Verisign for 192.168.1.1 (in case they would do that). But what would be the benefit of that? You still have the same issue with the remote management interface as it ends on a different IP address. And still, all Linksys routers would come with the same certificate, i.e. even if you connect to the router with HTTPS you still won't be able to identify if it is really your router or not from the certificate presented. So basically, the self-signed dummy certificate "Linksys" or any "better" certificate won't make any real difference: you still will have to add exceptions to firefox for remote management and the certificate itself still won't make anything more secure then what you already have due to the HTTPS connection.
    Re (3) The router works as server. As web server. You access the web server inside the router to access the web interface of the router. If you open http://192.168.1.1/ your browser connects to the web server in the router presenting you with the current configuration inside the router and options to reconfigure it.
    So to answer your questions:
    Q: (1) who is responsible for creating the SSL certificate?"
    A: Linksys
    Q: and (2) why is an invalid SSL certificate created?
    A: It is not invalid. It is a valid X509 certificate. It is self-signed. That Firefox calls it "invalid" is unfortunate because it is fully valid. However, it is not signed by a trusted CA and thus Firefox won't trust it automatically, unlike mail.google.com.
    Q: Since Cisco/Linksys chose to include secure access in its design of the router, what is Linksys doing to prevent the creation of invalid certificates for its router?
    A: They offer you to connect to the router through a HTTPS connection. Within reasonable means this is the only thing they can do. Anything else would costs much. I doubt you would still buy the router if it cost $500 but had a Verisign SSL certificate.
