No Internet iChat audio or vidio on 2 out of 3 Mac's but works on Bonjour?

I have 3 Mac's on my local network routing through a Belkin router to a DSL modem. iChat audio and vidio will not work with my internet buddies on my MacMini or my MacBookPro, but works fine with my Bonjour buddies. Sounds like a router port problem, BUT my little iBook G3 also running 10.4.9 connects both audio and video iChats on both Internet and Bonjour buddies with no problems.
The firewalls and Quicktime streaming settings are the same on all 3 machines. I don't know where else to look. I assume that the router ports are OK if the one machine can get through.
The MacMini worked fine a month ago on a different network, but with the same router. The modem there was for cable broadband. The MBP is new and this is my first try with it.
Anybody have any suggestions where else I can look for incorrect settings?

How are the ports enabled in the router and the modem
Which device if any is the DHCP server ?
It sounds like Port Forwarding or DMZ has been set up
for the one computer that works.
You will need a method like UPnP that allows several
computers to use the same ports.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delay in responding. The router is a Belkin Wireless . I don't know anything about the DMZ, or UPnP of which you speak. It seems to me that everything worked when I was using the Apple Airport - figures. I'll do some research on these topics to see if I can figure it out. I'll have an opportunity to try it on an Airport this weekend. Thanks again for the tips.

IChat audio and visual won't connect on my home network, but will on others

So here's my problem: When I try to connect via audio or video with iChat 5.0.3 it returns and error saying iChat can't connect. Text chatting works just fine. It only does this on my home network; I can take it work and connect to work's network and iChat functions just fine. My wife also has a mac using snow leopard and her iChat doesn't work either. We can connect to each other on our home network and use audio and video chat, but just can't connect to other networks. I'm using ATT&T U-verse and their 2wire modem/wireless router (model 3600hgv) that came with it, along with an airport extreme.
After carefully studying the other posts about iChat, I disconnected the airport and just used the 2wire, modifying the port settings as per the port forward website. I realized that the airport could have been using DHCP in addition to the 2wire, that's why I disconnected it. After doing these things, iChat still doesn't work. I'm not sure where to go from here.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated

Nice info.
Does the 2WIre device you have include having UPnP ?
Different manufactures put it in different places so it could be anywhere in the set up pages.
If not does it have Port Triggering (Special Applications) ?
You will need to use this as you want to use two computers with the same ports.
This needs a different set up to Port Forwarding.
Alternatively put the 2Wire in DMZ (This opens all the ports to one IP)
List the IP the Airport device gets.
(It would be better yet if the DHCP was turned Off - the Airport would then need to be set up for Static routing (Manually) to keep the same IP)

Did you set all the ports ? (These are the iChat 3 set but cover all the ones iChat 4 and 5 use)
Did you do the bit at the bottom ? (move the items to the right hand list that you want to use - listing both computers at the text field that reads "JoannasDell" (one at a time if it allows two computers by this method)

Internet not working on Mac side, but works with Parallel Desktop

I recently uninstalled Parallel desktop and noticed my internet on my mac stopped working, the diag said internet and server failed with red lights
I then reinstalled Parallel, and the internet works, but only with windows
I have a macbook pro '13 10.6.8
Any suggestions?? This is driving my crazy !!

Ichat audio and video problems, error 8

I've been reading the other ichat posts, and it seems that I have kind of the same problem. I can't get audio or video to work with iChat. I can send or receive invitations, but then it gives me an "error -8" message and the attempt fails.
I have a new computer, so this is the first time I've tried to do iChat audio/video chats. I connect via DSL with a Siemens speedstream modem connected to an Airport.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds as if you need to adjust a few settings:
Navigate to:
System Pref>Quicktime>Streaming = 1.5
iChat>Pref>Video>Bandwidth limit=NONE
Try making those adjustments and let's see what happens.

Ichat audio and video problem

my ichat audio and video don't work with any of my friends, no problems with a text chat, i'm using tiger and they all have leopard, all macs are up to date, i've tried messing around with the ports, firewall is off, internet sharing is off, i know a lot of people are having this problem, are there any answers to this that actually work, i'd appreciate any help

Welcome to the  Discussion Pages
Presumably you mean this Linksys is set to Not Block Pings on the WAN port (Or whatever phrase your device has) ?
I also presume that you have done the Quicktime Setting that Steve mentions above ?
I presume the Linksys is the modem as well and it is doing UPnP ?
At this stage I have two suggestions.
1)
Shut down the computer and remove the Ethernet cable (modem or computer end does not matter) (Make sure it will not connect Wirelessly when restarted before hand)
Restart the computer
Restart iChat.
Reconnect the Internet
Log iChat in.
2) Try a reinstall of the COMBO version of the 10.5.2 update
Both of these suggestions have been used in previous iChat's when other things have not worked and the set up appears OK on the surface.
Also try
3) Rebooting the router and a Modem if separate.
4) In System Preferences > Network > Connection method > Advanced Button > DNS tab add the DNS servers of your ISP
DO them one at a time so you know which one works.

IChat Audio Not working

I updated to the latest version of Leopard (10.5.8) and iChat and all of a sudden the audio stopped during video chats. When we're videochating everything works fine except that my friends can't hear me. I checked my mic on skype and it works fine. When I try to audio chat though, it also doesn't work. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated?

Welcome to the  Discussions
Several things.
1) Go to System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming and set the Sped to 1.5Mbps
If iChat is Open restart it to "See" the new speed.
2) If 1) has been set try the ichat Menu > Preferences > Video section > Bandwidth Limit at 500kbps
3) Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input and kmake sure you Input device is selected.
4) After 3) make sure the slider is far enough to the right to get the blue response bar to about 3/4s
5) Go to the Video section of the iChat Preferences and make sure the Microphone Drop down lists the same Input (mic) choice as 3)
6) In the Video menu of iChat make sure Microphone Enabled is ticked.

Flash player audio and vidio out of sync

flash player audio and vidio out of sync. audio lags 2 seconds behind vidio. this is a flash player or silverlighr problem. please help.

A lot of times it's in the video itself. A great example of it is "Tarantula", a 1955 "B" horror movie, on YouTube. About twenty minutes inti the film the audio suddenly drops about eight seconds behind the video. This happens when a video converter (software) requires more processor or RAM than the system converting it has available.
If it only happens with certain videos, it' what I've described above and there's really nothing that can be done about it.
If it happens with ALL videos you're watching, try right clicking, choosing "Settings", and under the far left tab, "Enable hardware acceleration"

Ichat Audio dropping out

My Ichat audio drops out on video chat with AIM users using Windows (vista)
. It only happens with Ichat not skype or any other program. Whats the issue or fix here?

IChat audio drops off

I've looked about, but can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue, my iChat audio drops off.
I spend long hours on video iChat and for no apparent reason, after a while, my fiancée will think I'm being quiet.
I can open the Audio/Video preferences and the sound meter bar will be unresponsive to all sounds.
I go into the computer sound settings and the input bar will be active, jumping up and down the meter with any sounds made.
The only way I seem to be able to regain the sound it to quit iChat and open it again and then recall my fiancée.
Does anyone know a cure that will stop this happening, it's been going on since updating to 10.7.3

As there are no actual volume settings in iChat itself there is obviously some sort of Capping mechanism or some process that does not fire properly.
On the whole I tend to keep my computer volume Low and use this AppleScript to increase the Volume (output)
Some while ago I added the Input volume line:-
using terms from application "Messages"
on av chat started
        set status to away
        set status message to "In Conference . . ."
        delay 0.2
        set volume input volume 85
        delay 0.2
        set volume output volume 50
        delay 0.2
    end av chat started
end using terms from
this needs to be stored in your Home Library/Scripts/iChat (or Messages folder) and linked to in iChat > Preferences > Alerts by changing the top item to Video Chat Started and enabling the Applescript option and linking to the Script.

New iMac bootcamp XP sp2 no internet no audio

I'm having a bit of trouble getting my wireless connection and audio to work on XP professional sp2. I have a week old 24" iMac. I ran bootcamp, installed XP, inserted the OSX install disc1 to update the drivers, and still no internet nor audio. When I go to network settings, my wireless network is not appearing... and instead a 1394 (firewire) network is showing as active... but of course that doesn't do anything for my internet connection.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem. No audio or internet. Can't adjust the volume in the control panel because the volume control is grayed out. An active ethernet network is detected but no internet connection.
I installed Win XP Pro SP2 from an OEM disc, which I was assured is identical to the retail version (which is no longer available).
Installation via bootcamp was anything but smooth and I first thought it wouldn't work.
Used the FAT32 format.
Other info: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz white iMac; 1.5G RAM.

Hi. I m using ichat (lion OS) in my mac mini. My problem is cant video call or even call anyone, but people can video call me. When other's call me, both video and audio works fine. But in my ichat all i see is greyed out audio or video call. Please help..

If your Video Menu says Video Chat Enabled and your View Menu says the Show Video Status is On and the Bandwidth is set to at least 500kbps then I cannot see why you cannot initiate Chats.
You should either be able to click a green video icon next to a Buddy or highlight them and then use the icons at the bottom of the list (Or right-click a Buddy and you the pop up menu or highlight and use the Buddies Menu)
(i.e. there are lots of ways to start a chat)
If the Buddy is greyed Out but still showing a Video icon (Also greyed out) then that Buddy has faulty login.
Dark text Buddies are ON line but greyed out Video icons are then Busy

IChat won't do video conf outside the house. . .Skype works . .Help!

When I try to do a video conference between my home Imac and my Macbook and am in my house it works great. However, I don't really need it for this. . .when on a business trip (or even a neighbors house) I cannot connect. I usually get the #8 error about communications error. Both systems can connect to the test IDs and conference fine and I can do a conference in my house over either wired or wireless.
I tried Skype and it works anywhere but the quality is not as good as IChat (audio - hear weird bells).
Anway, I have look over lots of docs and not sure what to do. here is my setup.
Verizon FIOS. .D-Link Router DI-604 with 4 ports (one for each mac, one for printer, and one for wireless router).
This is frustrating. . don't understand why Skype works every time but IChat won't as soon as one of my machines is outside the home network but the test calls all work.
Help!

Questions I would ask if it were your end at home.
How have you got the ports opened in the Modem for iChat ?
I can not see in these pics that it has UPnP which would allow multiple computers
You will need to do Triggering to allow multiple computers to use the same ports. Use the Instructions on that link for method.
They show look a bit like this Linksys but is seems you can add several single ports together rather than the Linksys one at a time and group method.

If you have a setting similar to the above that works at home but not away from it I would go to iChat Preferences > Accounts > Sever Settings tab and change the port form 5190 to 443 (this not only help with login in some cases but also with A/V chats).
If this does not help then tell us what settings you have on your Mac

Is this a new installation of GarageBand or has it worked before on the same computer?
Or have you transferrred your GarageBand from a different computer?
The error message is saying, that your GarageBand installation is incomplete. There are essential foldrs missing in your system library.
Check, if indeed both folders are missing or if only the permissions are set incorrectly.
Your system library (the folder "System" directly on your system drive) should have the following folders inside the folder "Audio", and they need to be readable by the system and by administrators.
And in the folder /Library/Application Support there should be the Instrument Library.
If these folders do not exist (or no longer exist), restore them from your backup- If your GarageBand version is a new installation, the application may not hve been downloaded or installed completely, then reinstall GarageBand.
What is your GarageBAnd version, and how did you install it originally?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

What model of camcorder is this video coming from?
Are you working on a Mac or a PC? Have you got the latest version of Quicktime, per the program requirements? When you started your project, did you select the settings for a DSLR at 720p? This is a vital step since it will activate the components your computer will need to work with many of these types of files.
