No JPEG saved to LR4 from CS6?

Hi,
I'm running LR4.3 and CS6 on an iMac.  I open a raw file in LR4, then open in CS6 from Lightroom.  Edit a little, save as a jpeg, close, and the file does not come back into Lightroom.  Either in a folder or in the collection.  TIF and PSD come in... but not jpeg.
So I try to import the image.  It does not show up in the folder as a non imported image... or at all.  Then, I open my hard drive from Finder, go into the folder and there it is.
Why isn't LR4 reading my jpegs?
Help!

The Photoshop CSxx edits are automatically imported in Lr only when you do a <save> as opposed to <save as>.
A <save> creates a PSD or TIFF but to create a JPG you have to do a <save as>.
The JPG should show when - in Lr - you right-click the folder in question and select <Synchronize folder>.
Also, be sure to turn on the Maximize Compatibility option in Photoshop so that Lightroom can read the images.
Consider creating the JPG via export in Lr. If you check the box <Add to this catalog> in the Export Dialog, the exported image will automatically be imported in Lr.

  • Why can't I delete or open a PSD jpeg saved for Web from my desktop?

    I was working with photoshop today and saved multiple versions of the same flyer I made to my desktop. One of the flyer versions I clicked "save for web" and it showed up as a jpeg on my desktop.
    I cleaned up my desktop today and I can't put that version in a folder, delete or open it. When I right click "move to trash," I get this error message:
    It literally will not move anywhere. I searched other forms and they said to click on the desktop (so nothing is highlighted like in the picture above) and click get info and then uncheck the locked box. Nothing is checked, so....?

  • Transferring saved workspaces, brushes, scripts, etc. from CS6 to CC on a PC using Windows 7

    This is what I came up with...
    Transfer saved workspaces, brushes, scripts, etc. from CS6 (Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) to CC on a PC using Windows 7.
    Go to start menu < computer < (OS) C: drive < documents and settings* < user (your user name) < application data** < adobe < adobe illustrator (or adobe photoshop)***
    *To see the ‘documents and settings’ folder, I had to go to start menu < control panel < folder options –  select view tab – uncheck hide protected operating system files (recommended). The computer will prompt you to go ahead, say ‘yes’ then hit apply.
    ** There is another folder above ‘application data’ named ‘appdata’, this is not the correct folder.
    * & ** I could not access these folders no matter what user settings I selected or logged in as administrator. I did an internet search and found the following successful:
    If the the folder denies you access to share… right click on the folder < select properties < select the ‘security’ tab < click the ‘edit’ button < select any and all users named ‘everyone’ < select ‘remove’
    After I removed the ‘everyone’ users, I was able to successfully share the folder to my user and access.
    *** I did not have an ‘adobe indesign’ folder, scrolling down the list it was labeled just as ‘indesign’. So was ‘bridge’, ‘dreamweaver’, etc.
    INDESIGN: Below are my exact paths for my particular system:
    < adobe < Indesign (inside this folder I have three folders: Version 7.0, Version 8.0 and Version 9.0 – which correlates? to CS5, CS6 and CC.) < Version 8.0 < en_US < Workspaces (inside this folder I have two files of each workspace – for example named: ‘xyz.xml’ and ‘xyz_CurrentWorkspace.xml’, I don’t why there are two similarly named files??, so I copied both and pasted both (and it worked.)
    < copy the workspaces you want to bring into CC
    >Go back, to the Indesign folder and then to < Version 9.0 < en_US < Workspaces and paste the workspaces.
    I did the same for scripts: copied from the Version 8.0 folder to the Version 9.0 folder *Please note that, with updated versions, your scripts may not work…
    < Version 8.0 < en_US < scripts < scripts panel (copy scripts.)
    You can do the same for Greps, Glyphs, Find/Change, etc.
    I copied entire folders over from the en_US folders: ‘Indesign Shortcut Sets’ and ‘Glyph sets’
    PHOTOSHOP: Below are my exact paths for my particular system: * please note I also have a ‘photoshop’ folder in the ‘adobe’ folder, which did not have what I was looking for to carry over.
    < adobe < adobe photoshop CS6 < adobe photoshop CS6 settings – copy all files < go back to adobe < adobe photoshop CC < adobe photoshop CC settings – paste all files

    To turn off UAC, go to the Control Panel, then User Accounts.
    Under the header, "Make changes to your user account", there is an entry titled "Change User Account Control Settings".
    Pick it, and drag the slider all the way down to "Never Notify".

    this is my set of saved actions...i was told to paste it in here...is this what you ment?

    Who told you to post in the scripting forum…? To be honest you a talking to a pretty small selection of AI users here… Actions would be better discussed in the General Fourm where more users use them… That and I don't know a user who posts in this little community who uses CC yet…
    #target illustrator
    var aiActions = File( Folder.desktop + '/YourActionsNameHere.aia' );
    if ( aiActions.exists ) {
              app.loadAction( aiActions );
    } else {
              alert( 'Could NOT locate your Actions' );
    I've no idea if the above works Im using CS5 so can't test… You could try adding to a Startup Scripts folder in your app folder…

  • Jpegs saved in Photoshop appear darker in SOME programs/websites - how do I fix this?

    This started happening earlier this year all of a sudden with my Photoshop 7. After trying in vain to fix it last night from reading many many other message board posts people have made regarding this issue I gave up and downloaded the newest Photoshop Trial. It still happens argh. Now I know well meaning intelligent types are going to say to me it's to do with colour settings or colour management profiles or something like that but please realise whilst I know where these things are to change them and understand roughly what they involve, I don't know specifically why they are causing the problem and therefore exactly which settings I should have to solve it. This seems to be the information missing from everything I've read on the other forums, message boards, discussions etc.
    I first discovered jpegs being saved darker when saving anything with a white background. When put up against other white backgrounds, they appeared slightly darker and you could see the outline. Now when I edit photographs and view them in some places outwith photoshop I definitely see the difference. But it can't be my monitor - because it doesn't happen everywhere! I've attached a screenshot for you to see.
    From left to right: editing a post in blogger (the images appear just as dark in the published posts), viewing the image on Facebook, the jpeg in photoshop.
    So some places online see it darker and others don't. They seem fine and stay appearing just as light as they are in photoshop when viewed in windows viewers, or seen in thumbnail form in the windows explorer thing.
    From the tidbits I've read I'm assuming this may have something to do with how facebook and blogger colour manage things differently? But I'm not sure if that's right. What I just want to know is how can I save my jpegs giant and small from photoshop so that they look the same in all programs on my pc and in every website I use online? I've tried fiddling with settings but to no avail.
    Here's the current setup of my colours in photoshop:
    Please can someone explain why some things look okay and others don't and exactly how to sort it? Don't just send me to a link that teaches me about colour profiles and triangles or monitor calibration
    Thankyou in advance!!

    A lot of people panic when they see Photoshop displaying differently from other software. But that's normal and expected. Here's what happens:
    1. Photoshop is color managed and performs a document profile > monitor profile conversion when it displays. So whatever the document profile is, Photoshop will display correctly - unless you have CM policies set to "off" (...!)
    2. Other applications, including many web browsers, aren't color managed and will just send the file numbers directly to the display. This distinction is extremely important, because there will be a slight difference. Again, that's normal. Photoshop is right and the other apps are wrong.
    3. Without color management, it all hangs on how your monitor displays color. Most monitors are so close to sRGB that any sRGB file will display roughly correctly. This is why sRGB is the de facto web standard: it can live without color management. And that's why you should always convert web material to sRGB. Yes, that's the Edit > Convert to Profile option. You can also use Save For Web to do this if you check the appropriate boxes.

  • Is it possible to use a file from CS6 in CS5.5

    I'm hoping to buy CS6 but I use CS5.5 at college. Is it possible to bring a file from CS6 into CS5.5. If not, where can I get CS5.5?

    PS files are backward compatible if you save them with maximum compatibility enabled. likewise, AI files can be saved back to older versions. Of course in both cases specific features from CS6 will be lost or rasterized to pixels, so they are not editable in CS5.5. In Design might be a bit more tricky. It supports saving back to CS5.5, but this may completely ruin your documents, if you use the new dynamic layout features, Arabic text etc., so it's less useful to go that route.

  • Export from CS6 is crashing (more often than not)

    Almost every time I Export from CS6 it crashes.
    I'm mainly exporting H.264 @ 720p & 1080p with Android, YouTube & Vimeo presets, but it also crashes using WMV.
    I thought I'd try it with GPU acceleration turned off, but no difference.
    Set-up:
    Premiere Pro version: 6.0.3.0 (from Creative Cloud app manager).
    Windows 7 64bit (SP1).
    Various source footage from: iPhone MOV, DVCAM (AVI) and 1080p H.264 from Canon 5D MkII.
    Error messages are either 'Error compiling movie'  or the application stops responding.
    Other software running includes Crashplan, Bulldog AV and monitor calibration.
    No third-party effects or codecs are installed.
    QuickTime is up to date.

  • Trouble importing JPEGs saved in Photoshop.

    Here's a brief description of my workflow: I shoot Canon EOS 350D, import RAW files into Lightroom, correct them there, then edit some pictures in Photoshop, save as JPEGs and when all's ready, import the shoot into iPhoto because I prefer to keep the images there.
    But I'm frequently having troubles with the JPEGs saved in Photoshop: iPhoto gives me an error that the files were in corrupt format and could not be imported. However, I can open em up in Preview just fine. So I have to re-import them into Lightroom and export them again from there. This time the images get sucked into iPhoto just fine. Any ideas what might be causing this? And what is the solution?

    This sounds like the Photoshop Color Profile bug. Check out this thread:

    It's one of many but there's a solution - of sorts - in it.

  • My question is Itunes related.  How do you prevent a playlist saved in Itunes from alphabetizing the song list created. I wanted to keep the original order, and somehow everything was alphabetized without requesting it.

    My question is Itunes related.  How do you prevent a playlist saved in Itunes from automatically alphabetizing the song list.   I had a specific order of songs that I wanted, and Itunes somehow automatically alphabetized them.  Is there a way to turn that feature off, and/or get them back to the original order?   I also noticed that once a playlist has been created, I cannot manually changed the order of the songs from my desktop..  Any suggestions?

    That's just the sort order. It's displaying the media alphabetically because you have clicked on the NAME column near the top of the iTunes window.
    Click on the little triangle above the column of numbers (usually on the far left side of the main iTunes window) and the media will sort in the order in which you added each item to the playlist.
    You can easily reorder songs within a playlist: Click and HOLD on the song you wish to move, then drag-and-drop it wherever you like.

    Hi,
    You have 2 options: use Discoverer Administrator to export/import the workbook; or use Discoverer Desktop to save the workbook to the local drive.
    You cannot save a workbook to the local drive using Discoverer Plus.

    Hi,
    Just switched from CS6 to PS CC. I am very comfortable using ACR in previous versions. I liked to use the preview checkbox located in the upper right-hand corner to see before and afters. That checkbox is no longer in my version of PS CC. I see that they have side-by-side, top and bottom and right and left before and after options in the lower right-hand corner in this version. Is there anyway to get that legacy preview checkbox back so that I can use it?

    Hi Warunicorn,
    Thank you very much. I just could not find it on my own. I will have more questions as I get into it.

    Need some help in saving video message from viber to my Iphone 5S with new ios 8's program . I disabled the thing that would save photos and videos automatically then, there comes a video I want to save. After loading and watching it, I press the "save to gallery" thing but it doesn't save in gallery. I tried all, restarting my phone, rebooting then turning on the save automatically thing and when I watch it again, it still wouldn't save.

    Probably a good question to ask Viber or look at their support site.

    Read this article - http://www.myfirstmac.com/index.php/mac/articles/how-do-i-move-my-itunes-library -from-pc-to-mac-and-keep-my-settings-intact
    Your .wma (proprietary to Windows format) will not play or convert in iTunes Mac so convert them in iTunes Windows to .mp3 before moving your library. There are other converters on the Internet - do a search.
