  • Can no longer send or receive messages on iphone

I sent a message from my iphone 4 last night and it looked as if it had sent but this am, I see it did not send.  It showed as 'sending.......' for over an hour.  I sent a new message and it then showed sending 1 of 2.  I looked at the people I'd sent messages too yesterday and today and they were not showing on the phone.  I check imessage on my iMac and the messages that I'd sent up until the last one last night, show on my iMac.  I sent a few from my iMac this am and they are not showing on my iphone.  I did a hard reset on my phone and my messages start with one yesterday and then Thursday.  So it dropped or lossed several messages.
When I looked at my settings, the wifi looks grayed out but it has a check mark next to it.
I don't see any error messages in the phone's settings but I'm not sure where to look either.
I turned off messages in my iphone, let it sit for a few minutes and turned it back on.  It took several minutes and then it came back on.  I can now send a message but the messages for the past few days are still missing from my iphone.  I just sent a message to my daughter and she got it and replied.  So it is letting me send now.  But I'm wondering where the messages are that should show in my message history and what it means that they are not there.
I've just read a thread of 4s users who cannot use wifi.  Is there anything going on with IOS & iphones?
Thanks for any help or information you can share.  I am just trying to sort out what might be going on.
    Michelle

Try a hard reset, hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red Off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let the buttons go.

  • Why can't I send or receive iMessages on my iPhone?

I've been using iPhones for about 5 years now and I've never found a problem with one that I couldn't fix until now and it's really starting to irritate me because no one has any idea whats going on. I just got a iPhone 4 from one of my moms friends because my last one broke and for some reason on this phone I can't use iMessage. I can use FaceTime and do everything else on my phone except for using iMessage. I have iMessage turned on and activated in the setting and I have linked my apple id but for some reason when I try and iMessage someone with an iPhone my messages will only send as texts. And when people try to iMessage me it says delivered on their phone but I get nothing on my phone. Could anyone help me out? I have tried all the trouble shooting steps on here and nothing has made any difference.

  • After upgrading to iOS7, I can no longer send or receive texts that aren't iMessages.

As the title indicates: After upgrading to iOS7, I can no longer send or receive texts that aren't iMessages.
The text conversations are still there; you can see that I used to be able to text anyone. But now I cannot.
I have followed several different fixes suggested in these forums, I have Restored my phone, I have Reset Network Settings, I have Reset All Settings, I have checked settings on several friend's phones. But I still cannot send or receive texts that are not iMessage texts.
This seems like a pretty big deal. People text more than they call. And I now have a phone that cannot text very many people.
It is so frustrating. I have spent so much time trying to get it to work.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
I don't know if this is a corrupted preference file or not, but it sure can't hurt to try this.
If Mail is open, Quit Mail.
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Drag that .plist file to the Desktop. Launch Mail and see if you can send or receive e-mail. If you can, that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new preference file for you the next time you launch Mail.
Also... run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, click Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

    Hi there,
Can anyone help? Since updating my iphone to the latest ios7 my phone will not send or receive imessages and is now very slow.

Go to Settings>Messages> turn iMessage off. The go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. Do a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, go back into Settings>Messages and turn on iMessage. See if it activates.
Apple has acknowldged an issue with iMessage and is working on an update. Look for that to be released sometime this week.

  • TS2755 Ever since I updated my phone to iOS 7 I cannot send or receive iMessages. How can I fix this

I updated my iPhone 4 a few weeks ago to iOS 7. Ever since I did that I cannot send or receive iMessages. How can I fix this???

Try powering the iPhone off and back on. If that doesn't help, go to Settings -> General -> Reset and reset the Network Settings. Reports are that one of those two steps have cured problems with iMessages for many people.
    Regards.

  • Why can't I send or receive iMessages from one person but I can from all my other friends?

As of Last Monday I haven't been able to send or receive iMessages for one of my friends when I send the message it says delivered but that person dosent receive it but it works for all my other friends and it work if I send a normal SMS text help pls I'm really confused thanks in advance :)

It sounds like your or your friend had gotten hit by the "iMessage bug" that Apple has confirmed.  They state it is only impacting a fraction of a percent of the iPhone users (which means it could be over 90,000 iphone users since 9 million were sold recently).  I would have both you and yoru friend restart your iPhones (hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears - it shoudl take about 10-20 seconds) then wait for the iPhone to restart and try sending an iMessage again.

  • My phone will not send or receive imessages.

iphone 4s will not send or receive imessages.  Some messages were going to ipad but not phone.  I turned off ipad messaging.  turned off and on imessaging on iphone.  backed up phone to itunes and restored it.  It seems to accept my apple id.  Tried changing the date stuff from suggestion on another discussion. Did hard reboot a few times. Any Ideas?
