No Movies icon on Apple TV ..dec 27th 2012

NO icon for movies so cannot access films...tried everything but still same.
MUst be Apple problem.....oh we'll good for Virginmedia...their movies work ok

Is this just the movie icon or others as well. There appears to be an issue with movie or TV shows at present, but if other icons are missing you may have a different issue.

Updated to Apple TV 7 and My Movies Icon is Gone

Just updated my Apple TV to 7.0 and I have no longer have the Movies Icon. I can't access any movies at all. Did Apple remove the ability to rent movies from Apple TV???

I had the same issue but went to settings-general (down at bottom) and restart and it came back! Good luck, I hope that helps.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Hold down on one icon until they start shaking, then drag the icon to the edge of the screen, and the screen should slide to the next one, you can then drop it on that screen or drag it again to the edge to move to the next screen.

The movie must fully download to iTunes.
If you have an AppleTV1, have you downloaded a 1080p movie rental as it can't handle that, in which case alter your Preferences for downloads to 720p, contact iTunes Store support and see if they can re-enable the download or refund so you can rent again at 720p.
If you have black model ATV2 or ATV3, then I assume you are looking under the Computers icon where a new Rentals row appears in order to play rentals downloaded to iTunes.

What is the box in mail app between the move icon and reply icon?

Just started using mail in the new ipad and see an icon in the inbox on the left handside in between the move icon and the reply icon. What is it and what does it do to a file? I clicked an old email on it and it seemed to have stored it or did it delete it. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Do you mean the icons towards the top right-hand side of the Mail app ? Depending on what type of account it is it might be a trashcan for deleting an email, or if it's a Gmail account you may currently have it set to as an archive icon : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4207

Can't move icons!

Hello everybody!
Lately I'm not allowed to move any icon in my browser, not only on
my desktop, but I also have this problem on any finder window.
I've tried disabling the grid alignment on visualization options in
my desktop and nothing...
Pleas help!

MIght be corrupted Finder preferences ...
Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.finder.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

Reflections on movie icons are distracting!

Does anyone else feel that the reflections appearing on movie icons distracting!
I mean they look nice don't get me wrong, but it feels that apple has threw function out the window for aesthetics with Leopard a few times here and there (dock, finder).

Are there issues during playback?
Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network). If on wifi try ethernet. Reboot ATV and router.

How do you move icons

I just got my first smart phone and it's an Apple i5s, so long story short I'm new to these things. I'm trying to move icons from one screen to the another and I'm wondering how to do this. If I touch an icon and hold it for a few seconds the screen starts to shake and it appears as though I can move it around, but when I do it just goes back to its original location. Not a big problem, but any help would be appreciated.

You are doing it correctly.
Just keep trying. You will get the hang of it.
You can also arrange them from itunes on your computer.

What does this round "hollow" movie icon means?
The problem
The movie, which according to iTunes is present on the iPad, does not show on the Videos app on the iPad.
The backgound
I bouhgt a movie ("Amazonia") for my daughter on an iPad that did not sync its movies with iTunes.
I synced the iPad to add a few more movies from iTunes.
The new movies synced fine, "Amazonia" got transfered to my iTunes and got removed from the iPad.
I tried to move the movie back, and according to iTunes it is present in the iPad, but with a strange hollow icon besides it.
"Amazonia" cannot be seen in the Videos app on the iPad.
Notes
Even though I bought the movie, the store would allow me to buy it again. Why?

Tap and hold any icon for a couple of seconds. They'll all start to wobble. Tap and drag the one you want to move to the side of the screen and the next screen will appear; drop the icon on whatever screen you want it on.

How can i watch a rented movie in my apple tv?

I rented a movie in iTunes and want to watch it in my apple TV. I try to "drag" the movie to the apple TV under Devices, and can't seem to do it. When I go to my shared movies in apple TV the rental is not there. Does anyone know what I need to do?

I assume you are using the Apple TV 1 (silver/grey).
The rental needs to be transferred to the Apple TV. It sounds as though you have paired a secondary (streaming only) library only and you need a primary library to transfer content.
