Hi Experts,
I am having an small query.
In SAP/R3 the "No. of defects" for notification "X" was set from 1 to 0.
This changes are not visible in BW ODS "O". This ODS is loaded as Delta from DataSource  "D".
Can you please advice. How can I see the changes visible on my ODS.
Thanks in advance.
Abdul

u need to use filter on ur dso..with doc no. item and posting date..created date etc...
check the dso with these filters..if its not a LO datasource then u can check in extractor checker also if that request exists....there is no magic ..which can withhold a record.
If the record was created /modified it will come to bw unless it is filtered by some criteria in transformation rule....for that u need to have idea whats there in  ur transforamtion..

  • Cost of Replacing Defective goods.

    Hi SAP gurus,
I am a frehser & given a task on to replacing defective goods if returned with in 6 months will be replaced with the free. as well as Billing for replacement print the bill.
Can any please help me with detail configuration & what reports to be maintain.
    Point will be rewarded.
    Many thanks.
    Regards
    Rahul Chitte.

    HI,
You can tackle this with normal sales scenario. Develop resturn sales document. Do copy control setting for the same.
Now, develop new PP for the return document. In  that PP for the basic price  develop routine with the help of abaper. The logic should be that it should compare billing date with your return sales order creation date or system date. If the diff.is more than six months then baisc price should be zero.
For invoice print manintain all setting  and records in NACE.
    Reward if useful
    Thanks,

  • Getting the run around from apple regarding my defective 4 month old MacBook.  What options do I have?

Purchased a MacBook pro 4 months ago.  After 1 week, wavy lines showed up on the monitor and the genius bar deemed the "mother board" to be defective and a new MacBook was issued to me.  This Monday,  the monitor went blank and again brought it to the genius bar.  The tech stated the monitor had to be replaced and he could do it later that day.  Now it's three days later and the computer is still not fixed and another part has to be ordered which wont be in for another three days.
Besides the awful communication Apple has shown me (waiting on hold for 20 plus minutes to get through to the genius bar) I am beyond appalled at the level of quality with the MacBook.  I realize Apple has a cult following but I have never owned a computer with so many problems, especially in the first 4 months.  I am loyal to Apple as I have both an iPad and an iPhone but this is definitely testing my loyalty.  My question to these readers is how can I address my concerns to Apple?
Thanks for reading and thanks for your help.

It sounds like the store tried to do you a favor and it blew up in their face. In many stores, a screen replacement would be sent to a regional depot for repair. This takes shipping both coming and going, plus repair time in the depot.
If they encountered an additional bad part, and had to order it in, that may take the quoted three days at the depot or at the store. Then additional Repair time.
I think you have been very unlucky, but I don't think you are being abused.
I remember when local repair places had rooms full of spare parts, but that is becoming less true in every business. ( I remember when people did not have computers in their homes, as well, but that is not helpful in this situation.)

  • Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT is defective on Dell laptops; what about Macs?

    http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/nvidiageforce_8600m_gt_is_defective_on_dell_laptops_what_aboutmacs/
Dell will offer 12-month limited warranty enhancement to all worldwide customers of 15 laptops with defective Nvidia GPUs. These Dell laptops use nine models of graphic processor units, and only one of them is also used on MacBook Pro models (15 and 17 inch models), sold from mid-2007 to now.
It’s the GeForce 8600M GT. What is Apple doing for these customers, and why Nvidia doesn’t say the name of all defective models?

This is a user to user forum. No one here works for Apple so you will not get an answer. You can try to contact Apple directly.

  • Incompetent CS ignores you, lock your call/case or sends defective parts : What should i do?!

Hello. I live in France and the Lenovo CS (same line for all europe i guess) has always been poor in terms of communication (title says incompetent but autistic would be a better word for the case..). Apparently i'm far from being the only one feeling so, but now it reached another level :
Since the begining i had my Thinkpad, it had many strange powering related issues, many. They often told me i could have the motherboard replaced, but i refused cause i didn't felt safe with it. Now that warranty was coming to an end, i thought about it and was like "come on, let's go for it" even though i still didn't felt safe about it..
I also had trouble with the fan making strange noise at times. They actually sent a fan to me a year ago but it wasn't the right FRU, i just let go on that at this time. Now, since i was going to get the motherboard replaced (they agreed) i told them to please send back the fan, reminding them it was supposed to be changed.
As said i do not feel safe when someone has to tear appart my unit, i'd rather do it myself. So i said, please change the parts all at once. That's when it got complicated. They refused to change the fan. Even though i sent them back their automatic mail showing that part was sent back in time (that's what they asked). From there it was just hell :
[Just so you know, i have Day+1 on site warranty] Not only they ignored mails but also tried shortening the call, telling me to "keep calm and wait" in a very rude way. From there, since emails were ignored, i called back from time to time, only to get repeated "WAIT" with no communication possible and calls most often hanging in the end.
The last person i had, being nicer, told me they had a problem in their system and couldn't communicate with the tech guys. But her speech became unclear and it appeared clearly it was bull**bleep**. She also surprisingly told me the fan was now included in the repair..!
At that point it's been more than a week of waiting, i asked around if somebody by chance would have an IBM tech phone number (since they're the people doing the repair). Someone kindly sent me one and it worked. I called him next day and he answered.
Talking to the IBM tech, he first told me they had absolutely no communication issue and after looking at my case/call, immediatly mentionned it was locked. He wrote something to IBM and told me to call him back the next day. So i did and since nothing changed, he kindly did what the CS is supposed to do, he set and appointment.
A tech came next day (that's what Day+1 is supposed to be). Guess what? They sent wrong fan again. Hard to believe it's a mistake again. Anyways, the motherboard replacement took place without much trouble. I then waited for the tech to come back with the fan. But the CS is still being what it is :
Just before the tech came for the MB replacement, i called CS just to make sure they know what's going on. The lady said "great, hope all works for you after!" so i thought hell's over. But after the tech did his work and left, having a little issue (now resolved) i called back CS and this time the lady was again like "WAIT" she didn't even know the tech came!
You never know when if they're lying. But i guess they do a lot. After the MB was replaced, i noticed trackpad/touchpad had issues. But that quickly came back. I also noticed the GPU was overheating (temps were already high before). The new fan was making more annoying noise. I just asked them to change it. But no, their super IT decided to change the CPU..
I told them over and over it was the GPU overheating, not CPU. But they insisted; Tech came with new CPU which WASN'T brand new (it's supposed to be). It was refurbished.. Wait, it said "certified reutilized" no idea what that means..? Unfortunatly the issue with ultranav came back and this time stayed dead, the fingerprint was also dead. So the tech came back.. Whilh testing, he did reset the bios, which sets graphics to optimus. I always use discrete only.
That's when we discovered a new issue : the integrated graphic is totally defective, screen flash on/off every 5sec or so and then system freeze..! So in the end, ALL parts they replaced were having much worse trouble then original one! And replacing the CPU for a defective one may be intentional.. Since the warranty end, they may think i'll buy a new one after this one dies.. Sorry but you're wrong!
What the hell Lenovo, you can't even communicate with your collegues..? It's shocking when the IBM tech talk to them, it's like they don't believe what he says. Or don't understand.. Since their level is SO LOW. My warranty now got only 10 days remaining.
I don't know if/when they're going to decide to do something. They now regularly ask me to send back the whole unit to them. No way, i won't do that. Thinkpads are great but warranty is crap, be careful when buying expensive on site extensions.
As you know, parts are guaranteed 3 months after they get changed, even your warranty ends before. But seeing how they act, I'm now very worried, it seems i can only rely to the IBM tech, which unfortunatly have no power/rights here.
I know there are some Lenovo staff here, hope they'd say a word. Even though i'm in Europe, this is global lenovo forum... There is apparently NOT A SINGLE WAY to complain to a higher level in this company.

    Julien,
Thanks - we have escalated your case to our regional customer relations team and I have confidence that they will be able to help you bring this regrettable saga to a positive resolution.
I understand your concern on the timing of this.

  • My macbook pro was defective from the beginning. what to do?

I bought my macbook pro about 4 yrs ago in my college year, and right after I found out there was some weird noise being made while the laptop was running.
And compared to my school mates' macbook, mine got easily heated up and had a loud noise while running.
So I took it to my school tech department and they said since its warranty is effective, why don't I go to apples, and so I did.
At first, at the genius bar, a technician said it will cost me 400 and i was struck with shock ..
fortunately, the technician found out that the laptop was defectively manufactured from the factory from the beginning and I was free of the fixing charge.
However, my macbook pro's got a new problem. The screen goes black while running. I can hear the computer running but the screen is total pitch black.
I went to apple store again to the genius bar to ask for the fixing fee.- It was 300 bucks for fixing it and they said there was a problem with
the computer's logic board whatever. I bought the laptop for 1200$ and they are asking me for 1/4 of the price the laptop.
The genius bar asked me if I ever dropped the laptop or left it somewhere near water whatever. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT and the laptop was
sitting on my loveseat in my room and when I came back from work and turned it on to get on internet...it didn't turn on.
What am I supposed to do?
I am so upset bc I have a paper to turn in for the beginning fo the next month, but since I can't afford to fix the computer, I am totally at a loss.
I bought the laptop at Bestbuy when there was the event going on, which if you buy a mac, it comes with an ipod 2nd gen.
When I bought it, there was a lil scratch like thin on top of the cover of the laptop, but I just thought like
it will get a scratch while using it anyway and i just let it go and I bought a cute plastic cover for that laptop.
If I knew that that was something like a defective product, I wouldn't have bought it or exchanged it with a new one.
Where do I complain about this? whom do I talk to? why does apple distribute defective products to customers and make us to pay so much money to fix it after the warranty is done?
Apple should be responsible for this.
For someone like me, who's a poor student who can't get anymoney from anywhere (I am being supported by my church), what am I supposed to do?
I want a responsible answer from Apple.
or if anyone knows how I should deal with this, please answer me.
I am really at a loss and desperate due to my financial situation. Thank you.

I had a very similar issue.  I am not sure which machine you have.  I purchased 2 MacBook Pro's mid 2010 2.66ghz.  One is dead the other failing.  I am with you, you shouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty on a premium product.  I have seen a lot of posts on this subject.  Seattle Rex took Apple to court last year over the same issue and won in small claims court.
    http://www.seattlerex.com/seattle-rex-vs-apple-the-verdict-is-in/
I am sure a class action lawsuit is not far off.  It is fraudulent to sell a product that is known to be defective.  I purchased my laptops from Apple.com in 2011 after the testing program had already started.  From what I can deduce the logicboard and Lion do not get along.  CNET has several articles on this issue.  Here is the notice from Apple that is very hard to find.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
Here is an article from CNET

Maverick is supposed to help but for me that is a day late and $4000 dollars short.
If you do bring your laptop in, print out the notice.  The guys and gals at the Genius Bar will not know about this issue.  They tried to sell me a new MLB too as well as trying to wipe my hard drive.  Good luck, I hope this helps.

  • Defective t440s and the worst customer support I've ever received

2 months ago I purchased a t440s that arrived defective. Notably, the screen was the upgraded FHD IPS panel. My unit came with the LG model, which is notorious for being defective. The screen had bad viewing angles (its main selling point...), about 1.5 inches of light bleed along the bottom, and significant yellow tinting outside of a medium-sized circle in the middle of the screen. Additionally, the trackpad was too far left in its housing and would ocassionally *get stuck beneath the case* and ALWAYS scrape against it.
After waiting 3 weeks for my laptop to arrive, I requested a repair after owning it for 2 days and sent in my laptop-- at the end of September. I didn't receive any updates on the status of my repair until several days ago. I was unable to answer the call and the voicemail Lenovo left only said that my repair was pending. After attempting to contact support myself and being placed on hold for absurd lengths of time, I gave up.
Earlier today I received another call. The rep told me that my laptop wouldn't be able to BEGIN being repaired until November 24th, at the very least. This is due to a backorder on replacement screens. I'm assuming that's because they're having to replace more than just a few.
The rep offered to have my laptop swapped with a new unit, yet I'll have to speak with another person who won't be calling me until "sometime next week" to actually have this done.
The girl I spoke with to initially request my repair was very kind and knowledgeable. Everything following that has been unacceptable at best.
I purchased from Lenovo after being told by numerous peers that their quality was legendary across the board. I don't think I'll ever purchase another Lenovo product in my life and I will definitely try to dissuade anyone from making the same mistake I did.
You suck, Lenovo. You really **bleep**ed me here.

I gotta say that when I was dealing with customers services I thought they were fantastic, and this was back in June. Now my player has sadly broken again...ugh...twice in a year...which is making me consider just buying something else, I know all mp3 players are reportedly like this, but its just not right... ...and I'm pretty sure Creative just have a big warehouse of faulty Zen's which they put all the faulty ones in when they get returned, and then they just pick up another one and send it out to you. I also find it ridiculous that there is no telephone support for everyone...which would solve alot of problems... I sent Customer Support an e-mail, so when should I hear back? My Zen doesn't charge properly, and for the past couple of days any time i turn it on it just freezes...Message Edited by Kid-Eternity on 2-0-200608:23 AM

  • Verizon Galaxy Nexus - Defective Charging Port

Bought my Galaxy Nexus in April of 2012, along with insurance on the phone. Love the phone and the pure Android experience. However, back in February, I woke up one morning and noticed that even though my phone was plugged in, the battery was not charging. I tried using different cords and my spare battery, neither fixed the issue, which meant that the charging port on the phone was defective. I brought it to a VZW store, and since the issue occurred within a year of purchasing the phone, they sent me a certified pre-owned galaxy nexus as a replacement (They had to send me three replacement phones total because the first two would not boot properly, but that's a different story.)
So here I am, 5 months later, and I woke up one morning and discover the same issue. Phone is plugged in (using the original charger that come with the original phone by the way), but it is not charging. Won't charge with a different cord, won't charge with a different battery, which means that the port is defective. I take the phone to the Verizon store, and am informed that A) my year-long warranty has run out, so if I want to replace the phone I will have to pay full retail price for it, and B) The default insurance plan on these phones only covers cracked screens or lost devices. The VZW support rep actually suggested that I damage the screen on the phone before sending it to the insurance company, because otherwise they would send it back and refuse to replace it.
So to recap, Verizon sold me a defective device, replaced it with another defective device, and now in order to fulfill the remaining nine months of my contract with them, I will have to purchase another device at full retail value. That's $600-$700 I'm expected to pay just to continue adhering to the terms of my contract. For now, I went on amazon and bought an external battery charger which I now have to carry with me at all times, which is an unacceptable solution for the next nine months. Surely there has to be a better option?

This is the same problem I had in the past and Samsung fixed the phone
under warranty. Since a warranty is only 1 year and not the length of the
contract it doesn't help anymore.  I do not have insurance and the phone
has never been wet.  I have to wiggle the port or reset something on the
connect to have it charge properly.  Verizon was unwilling to help me the
last time I had this issue since I purchased the phone new from Amazon.  I
would appreciate it if you could help.

  • How do I get Apple to stand behind their warranty and replace my defective computer? The hard drive has been replaced twice, the track pad once, and other hardware issues. Can anyone help me so I can get Apple to replace my defective

My computer has been a lemon. They refuse to properly diagnose, fix, and document my complaints regarding the multiple failures I have had with this computer. Also, I was told that upon my logic board being replaced back in April or May that the topic of replacing the computer altogether with one of equal equipment would be appropriate. Insofar, I have been to the store at least three times in the past month to discuss my issues with the computer that were not resolved when the hard drive was replaced in May. I was also told that the repairs on my system would be good for up to 90 days after the repair work was done and that I could buy AppleCare at the end of the 90 days in lieu of insuring a product that still had defects. I have been on the phone for what feels like hours with Apple trying to work this issue out but they are not wanting to stand behind their product nor are they willing to stand behind their warranty. The warranty expressly states that a computer can be replaced entirely if the defect is considered hardware malfunction and at the representative’s discretion. Every time I brought it in for repair it was due to hardware malfunction; however, they also said once that it was an accessory that I bought that was causing the problem which ended up not being the case after all. This is totally unacceptable. I also asked Mark from AppleCare to let me know what was repaired the second time the computer was put through a diagnostic at the Apple Store. Beachballs, Gears, excessive heat, not being taken seriously at the Apple Store, being insulted by a Mac Genius at the Apple Store, being misinformed by a Mac Genius, dealing with a misinformed Mac Genius. They replaced my iPod touch without much ado.  I was also accused by an Apple Genius of being "hyperbolic." He said this in response to my complaint of the computer melting--literally--items on my computer desk. I am either wanting a refund of my money or a replacement of my laptop. Also, I have lost an incredible amount of data on my computer due to the hard drive being replaced x 2. Not acceptable. Also, the Apple store is 1 hour from where I live. I am currently looking for employment and additionally have a legal case pending where I am the plaintiff. I have lost VERY important documents in both matters which has caused an extreme amount of stress. I do not need the added stress of an unreliable and unsafe computer. I also have been waiting for a call back from Kelly (left two voice messages with Kelly) and Mark (wrote an e-mail for which he has not responded to insofar) at Apple but have heard nothing from either one of them regarding the status of my computer. The only thing I received which was automated by the Apple Store was a confirmation that my computer was ready. I have requested documentation of what was done (basically, I am asking for the receipt) before I drive an hour to pick it up. Haven't heard anything. I brought this computer in on July 24, 2011. We are now upon August 2nd. When do I get to know what was even done on my computer? Do they really think that I am going to take back a computer into my possession only to have to bring it back shortly thereafter to address one of the many issues causing it to malfunction in the first place? I have owned 5 computers  since 1988. All of them PCs. This is my first Mac. Will it be my last?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Defective Song Tracks Since iTunes 10.5 (also, recently purchased songs/albums are not showing up in purchased area for redownload purposes)

Last night I purchased the new Coldplay album from the iTunes store on my PC (as opposed to the iPad or iPhone). 2 of the 14 song files are defective (my bad ones are tracks 2 and 3). Those two play music for about the first 20 or 30 seconds of the track and then skip immediately to the next track. I had the same problem last week with two other albums I purchased from the iTunes store (also on my PC like last night). In those cases, I simply went to the "Purchased" quick link area and found everything I had just purchased. I deleted the defective files and then redownloaded them without a hitch. The replaced files now play fine.
However, the Coldplay album does not show up in my "Purchased" section (not last night or this morning when I rechecked). I am unable to redownload the defective files. I am doubly disturbed by this. For one, I have never had defective music downloads up until iTunes 10.5 and now I've had them on the three albums I've downloaded since. Two, now the "redownload music from the iCloud" function is not working for the most recent purchases. Perhaps this is true of all music purchased from iTunes over the past few days for everybody? Most people are probably mentioning Coldplay here on the boards because it's the hot new album. Note that this apparently is not affecting iOS apps, because my recent (within 24 hours) apps do show up in the purchased area.
It's very frustrating, because I want to sync this new Coldplay album with my iPhone so I can listen to it and I hate to have to transfer an incomplete album to it. My OCD-like nature gets to me sometimes. Part of me wants to just repurchase the two defective song files and hope that Apple won't charge me twice.

LOL!!! I had checked iTunes before writing this and the music was not there. I check after writing and now it has shown up. It took iTunes about 12 hours to do it though.
Last week, the music I purchased showed up immediately.
I guess iTunes is just not working as effeciently as it did last week. Could still be a bug or maybe just swamped servers? However, the problem that is most annoying to me right now is that all the music I have downloaded since iTunes 10.5 has contained defective tracks that needed to be redownloaded. I do not recall that ever occuring before.

  • No guarantee for defect left audio, bcs of waterdamage made long ago

    Hello everyone,
the left side of my headphones doesn't work well.
It works fine if you turn and switch a bit and then lay it down if it works. But you have to leave it almost untouched, which is quite difficult if your riding a bike or walking.
Now is the problem that Apple refuses guarantee. Why?
Well, in the end of July this year, I was stupid and spoiled some water on my Touch 2G. _I am sure that my problem is not caused by waterdamage._ I will try to teel you while. I give a short summary of things happened till my audioproblem.
{{{First my iPod worked fine, except of some waterspots and a strip on my screen.. I was totally happy. But after two days it wouldn't load. Then I was on holiday so I couldn't have contact with apple support. On 24 august I emailed, just for try, and received answer that Apple could nothing do for me, and I accepted it because it was my own fault. My touch díd still work, but when I set it asleep, it wouldn't wake up, till its batterie was fully empty so I could load it.
    But as a miracle, the iPod started recovering till fully healthy, the only thing that is still wrong, was the screen that still had some dirty spots.}}}
By the way, my liquidindicator is only for 2/5 red, does this say something?
About the 3rd week of october, my headset gave the described problem. I thought my headset was broken and the shop where I bought my headphones replaced them, which took some time too. The day before yesterday I mailed an Applestore and told about the audioproblem and the waterdamage which I considered to have nothing to do with. I still received the answer it could be corrosion.
I think this is totally ridiculous. At first, it was only a bit water.
(I am not sure if the indicator at 2/5 approves this, or my indicator is just a bit deviant)
My iPod worked fine over one month long, till the audioproblem.
If corrosion was damaging my iPod, why did my iPod recover, but my audioport started to give suddenly problems after 2,5 month?
Very striking: When I had to mention the kind of problem I had to specify my problem from >Repair< / Replace >>> swithches and buttons / Power / >Sound< / Screen >>> and then choose from 8 options, including _I hear only sound at one side (left or right) while playing._
They seem to be familiar with this problem. What could actually cause this problem?
And if it was corrosion, wont the other side be defective too or got defective in one month?
And the most important question: Ain't that time too long to really damage stuff and even still so suddenly?
    Thank you all
    Message was edited by: Justsayhello

I mean; one defective audio channel is a quite specific problem; (I think it's a too specific problem to be caused by waterdamage), but though the service-requestpage of Apple has placed it in the list of common sound problems. People that have water damage usually have more than one problem on their iPod, so why would people with water damage go to that very specific problem (not even to 'no sound at all-problem' but to 'one defective channel-problem)
I think I mean its just thát one thing that is wrong. And (all) people with waterproblems won't ever go to that specific problem if they request service.
So ór I am a miraculous exception, ór it's caused by something else then waterdamage.
I dont really know how to express it, or maybe it just isnt an argument, but I feel something like there's an argument in it. Can anyone maybe word it better or say I'm talking nonsense?
(But please stay on my main-article)

  • Miserable experience with replacement LG Fathom, that replaced defective TP2

    Freezes
    It does freeze.
    Alarms don't work right
I use the alarms & those didn't work right. I had set 1 for 9:30 pm & 1 for 10 pm,  The 10 pm one got up to 12 alarms--even though only 1 was set. Tech support wanted me to do a hard reboot but wasn't very thrilled about that as I would then have to reinstall software & re-set up linking & set up email all over again.
After awhile I turned off the alarms. But they still went off. I did check--they were turned off. & then it got so the 9:30 one would freeze the whole phone. I couldn't activate the buttons to make it stop or snooze---they didn't respond & the whole phone was frozen so I would have to reset.
Finally I deleted both alarms & set them up again. Working better, but again the 9:30 one has about 6 alarms that go off so I have to stop each one. I think one time I stopped all & the 10 pm one didn't go off. They are supposed to help remind me to start windiing down--the 9:30 one & then to seriously shut down the computer & get ready for bed.
Sometimes they don't seem to go off or accidentally get turned off.
Volume buttons can get bumped & turn to silen so calls missed
Another issue is that the volume up down buttons can get bumped. A while ago I was trying to set up a drs appt I think it was & was waiting for a call back. I finally called them back when I hadn't heard. I think they said they had tried to call. Later I saw that they had--4x but I discovered the volume was turned off so I missed those important calls.  Not good.
The keyboard is not very nice.
    Downgrade replacement for defective TP2
This was a replacement for my defective Touch Pro 2. I had paid for that top of the line phone, & in CA we have to pay sales tax on the full list price!  Someone (obviously going by the specs, not actual usage) raved about how this phone was supposed to be so super. NOT.  The list price was about half that of the TP2. It doesn't have the digital voice recorder the TP2 did, nor a lot of the HTC features that I liked & used like the automatic vibrate for appts that were listed as busy. & I really miss the way that I was able to set several cities up in world clock & then I could easily see what time it was & what the weather was. Nice when friends were in those ciities.
The keyboard on this is smaller & I keep getting periods in the middle of the sentence when typing emails which then makes the next letter a capital &makes it hard to read. It has 1 less row in the keyboard. The phone is smaller than the TP2, so easier to carry, but harder to see.
Someone called me on Thanksgiving & I didn't recognize the area code, but I was trying to answer & must have accidentally used the wrong slider so the call disappeared. Then there was some icon at the top, but it was so small I couldn't really tell that it was a voice mail indicator, so I didn't check until way late at night.
Verizon called this an upgrade--even though it was actually a replacement for a top of the line phone (the TP2 was a cool phone, if only it had worked well but it got so that it would randomly change orientation while I was trying to read an email, & it got so the backlight wouldn't always come on & sometimes even after pressing it multiple times) but I would call this a downgrade. While the processor is about 2x as fast as the TP2, it doesn't really work noticeably faster. I guess that's the winmob OS.
    Win mobile issues
& of course then Microsoft did a # on users of WinMob 6.5 when they came out with Windows phone 7 which is totally incompatible. So phones that ran 6.5 can't run 7 & the software is incompatible. I had gotten it for busines where we had aps that needed 6.5.
It has been a miserable experience with both of these phones, when I bought the TP2 I went for the premium phone, planning to keep it for over 2 years. Instead it had multiple issues its 1st year which I put up with for months. Finally got the replacement Fathom, which again, Verizon kept calling an upgrade but its really a downgrade.  I had paid for a top of the line phone, & got an inferior phone, smaller keyboard, & screen, less features & it doesn't work so well.
Are smart phones less reliable than regular cell phones?
I don't know if smart phones in general are less relaible than regular cell phones or what, but my experience has been very frustrating all the way. These are supposed to be productivity enhancers. Instead I've had way too many issues, & often tech support, while usually nice & trying to help, they didn't always know what they were talking about.
Want a reliable smart phone that does what it is supposed to do--feel ripped off
So I'm frustrated with this not very reliable phone & want to get a reliable phone. But I sure wasn't planning to have to buy a new phone this soon. My previous phone was a basic LG flip phone with speaker & no camera & that thing just worked so I kept it for about 5 years until I needed the win mob phone for biz. I no longer need it for that, & it isn't working very well, but I don't really want to spend the $ for a new phone right now.
Really frustrated with the bad experiences with both phones.  I feel like I didn't get what I paid for & again I went for a top of the line phone, intending to keep it for several years, not expecting all the problems I've had with both phones. btw, the Fathom retail price was about half that of the TP2, even though the 2 yr agreement price was the same. but in CA we pay sales tax on the full retail.
I would like to be able to get another smart phone that is really reliable like an iPhone, but really wasn't planning on buying a new phone this soon.

    Greetings caatkins4,
When your phone is the lifeline to your job, it would be most frustrating to experience issues such as the ones you've described, especially if you do not have a back up in place for when things go wrong. All of our phones are tested to make sure they meet the manufacturer’s specifications before being sent out. It is regretful to hear that the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 3 you received may not have met these specifications once it was in your hands.
I was able to review your services when I located your Geek Squad Protection plan with the email address you registered with the forum. Unfortunately, at this time we would only be able to provide you with another replacement. It appears we've already created the service order necessary, and presently, it appears that a tracking number has been created for your replacement phone. It should ship soon if it hasn't already, as it sometimes takes up to 24 hours for UPS to update their shipping information.
I apologize if this is of any inconvenience to you. If you should have any questions, please feel welcome to reach out to me.
    Respectfully,

  • Please help - Brand new X1 Carbon defective out of the box - is this normal? what should I do next?

    Hello all,
So, as a loyal Lenovo customer I decided to purchase the X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (non-touch, I5 version).
Last week I finally received it.
Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed was a defective touchpad - very loose, the right bottom corner was not solid
enough and made a weird noise while clicking it. It drove me crazy since I am used to the top build quality the Thinkpad series offers.
I took to the local Lenovo service center, they actually replaced it on the spot and it made it better, not great but better. I still think there is something wrong there, since the bottom two "buttons" don't feet and sound as good as the upper ones.
    But that I can tolarate.
The thing that really pissed me off was this: To me demise, after using the laptop in a dark room I noticed this massive screen bleed :
(apologize for the ling stream of pics, didn't know how to thumbnail them)
My question to you guys, is this okay? is this an acceptable bleed? or should I do whatever it takes to get it repaired/replaced?
I just hope they will know how to handle this here at local center, as from my experience dealing with computer reps here, the local Lenovo agent (which is actually the importer)  will not replace it for me (their excuse is that it wasn't bought in this country)
This is amazing, in one year Lenovo has lost it's entire reputation over the 2nd Gen X1 carbon.
Please help me. what should I do?
    Thank you very much.

The official method of creating / escalating to a complaint is to call support, with previous call numbers handy, and request the representative to escalate your case to a complaint.  They will then create a complaint on your behalf and also be able to inform you about the complaints proceedure.

  • Success story: NVIDIA 8600M GT graphics card defect repaired at no cost

This is the story of Apple servicing my MacBook Pro with the NVIDIA graphics card defect.
I had the NVIDIA 8600M GT graphics card defect in my 2 year old MacBook Pro. The symptoms were pinkish images, scrambled and chopped images, and finally leading to no video, all within a matter of 3 days. I called AppleCare using the old number I remembered from my 100mhz Mac days: 1-800-SOS-APPLE. I was greeted by a real person within 3 minutes. She explained that my 90-day complimentary phone service had expired some 600 days ago.
After I mentioned the specific Apple Knowledge base article that described the defect (TS2377), and that it was covered up to three years out of warranty, she transferred me to a MacBook Pro specialist. Sheri ran me through several standard resets and reboots. She then suggested that it be taken into an Apple store for a genius to look at. When I explained that the nearest Apple Store was an hour away, she arranged for a mail-in service.
After the call had ended, I received a simple email with her phone number so that I could contact her if I needed to. Another automated email contained my repair case number and a link to check the status online. The online status center is very easy to use. It displayed three steps: Sending the empty box, service in progress and return. FedEx tracking numbers were included with working links.
The next day an empty box arrived, completely with graphical IKEA like packaging instructions and form fitting foam for my MacBook Pro. I knew when the FedEx truck came around, so I had my computer ready by my side. As soon as FedEx showed up, I explained that the empty box was for the computer and Marcos helped me apply the pre-paid return label and taped the box expertly with tape from his truck. I also placed in the box a copy of the Apple Knoweldge base article and pictures I had taken of the issue.
Apple had included a small stack of super adhesive pre-cut tape square, but Macros was already taping it before I figured out what they were. The return label was also pre-paid with overnight service.
The next day I logged into the online support status at Apple.com and checked my status. The tracking number showed it had arrived in Houston, and the three steps had been updated to "Repairs completed" and "Return in progress."
The return FedEx tracking number was displayed later in the evening, and it showed that it was guaranteed to arrive by 10:30AM the next day. Speedy service! Sure enough, the next day I had my computer back in my hands, all data perfect and intact. I was very worried since I was not able to make a back up before sending it in, and Apple does not guarantee data safety. Apple had replaced the logic board, valued at $700 on iFixit (http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Core-2-Duo-2-2-GHz-Logic -Board/IF185-073).
The funny thing is, for the past 5 years, I have always cloned my drive or used time machine, but for the past two months I had cleared the backups to make up extra room on my externals. You really never know when disaster will strike!
    Learned:
    - Apple Customer Care is top notch, speedy and their status site is very easy to use
    - FedEx service was very helpful
    - If you have a NVIDIA graphics card, Mac or PC, check if your model is affected. Just today Sony announced that NVIDIA cards with defects will now be covered for 4 years out of warranty. (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-10307592-64.html)
    - Back up your stuff NOW. Use a flash drive or email files to yourself for a cheap fix.

    ha
got the same problem with my mbp (dec 2007)
also no video within 5 hours .... also no external video.
lucky i had screen sharing on so i could check the system profiler via an other mac.
It couldn't find the 6800M GT anymore...
did another backup and went to the local apple store
took a print out of Apple Knowledge base article that described the defect (TS2377)
and they replaced the logicboard+gpu for free within 10 days ...
everything is ok now except for my maxmsp copy which thinks it runs on an other machine and complains about a missing licence ....

  • Hello.  My 1st Generation Apple TV with HDMI cable does not turn on.  Its a used model purchased on eBay.  I've checked and ensured that the electrical plug works.  Is there anyway to manually check to see if the unit turns on or do I have a defective uni

Hope I'm using this forum right.  I purchased a 1st Generation Apple TV on eBay.  Unfortunately, I cannot get it to turn on.  I have another Apple TV (1st Generation) that works flawlessly on another TV.  So I tried to use the new unit on this TV with same electrical cord and HDMI cable.  No luck.  It would not turn on.  So I do not know if I have a defective unit or if there's another method of turning on the Apple TV.  Again:
    1.  I double checked and it was on the correct HDMI setting (the other Apple TV worked on it) and used the same cable
    2.  I double checked that the electrical was correct - again, the other Apple TV worked correct.
Any suggestions on fixing this would be most appreciated.
    Thank you

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
A good indication would be the status light to begin with, it should flash rapidly on start up and then settle down (assuming the status light is working-they have a habit of fading)
The other thing you could try is cycling the resolutions in case the previous user has left it on a setting that your TV doesn't support.
Press and hold both the 'menu' and '+' on the Apple Remote for about 6 seconds.
Press '+'or '-' on the Apple Remote to cycle through the display resolutions.
Pause a couple of seconds after each press for the Apple TV to accept your selection.
When Apple TV reaches an acceptable display resolution and “If you can see the Apple logo, select OK” appears on your TV screen, press 'select' .
If that doesn't help, I fear the Apple TV is defective.
