No "official" Kodak SLR/c support?

Downloaded lightroom and it works on my SLR/c files, but it's not listed in the official compatibility list:
Kodak
DCS Pro 14n
DCS Pro 14nx
DCS Pro SLR/n
DCS720x
DCS760
EasyShare P712
EasyShare P850
EasyShare P880
The Kodak SLR/n is listed. It's basically the same camera (uses the same CCD.) I'm liking what I see in Lightroom, but not sure I should invest $200 for a product that doesn't support my main camera. Are there any plans to officially support this camera?

I have a DCS Pro 14n and while lightroom does support the .dcr file format, it doesn't in the preview pane on import. When I try to import with preview turned on I can't see previews of native .DCR files, the raw format for my kodak camera. Once the files are in lightroom though they can be seen fine. Another little tid bit. Kodak's Photo Desk is way better than lightroom at removing noise in my pictures..

When are we going to see support for the DCR format RAW images off these very fine Kodak Professional cameras?

Very fustrating to have JUST spent $8k on the SLR/c, a 14megapixel camera, and new powerbook to run it all on, only to be left with "unsupported image".
Even DNG conversions don't open. I'm stuck with TIFFs for now

i think it has something to do with Kodak discontinuing their Dslr range over a year ago.

  • Official word on PPC support cut off?

What is the date that Apple has set for ceasing development of software for PPC-based macs?

hmmm, I remember with the old .mot processors people still run and use those as mail servers or have them for posterity. I'm working on building another mac which will be a sawtooth in a silverstone temjin 7 case. That's why I asked! I would hate to spend money and have OS X or OS 11 not support ppc.
I suspect that since the supercomputers that were built with 970s will be around for some time It'll be 10 years or so until they phase out PPC support. Pretty clever huh!? I just thought of that.
Especially the Illinois-Urbana teraflopper. Perhaps only OS X server will support PPC in the future in which case I'll need to be runnin X server.
I'll still leave this thread 'unsolved' to garner more ideas.

*I selected the iPhone community (but this is for Apple's AirPrint Support in general)
We are currently considering to add support for AirPrint
    in our printer-side development.
Does anyone know how can receive official information from Apple regarding
the required procedure/steps to correctly support
    AirPrint in the printer side?
We are expecting that such steps would also contain details
on how our printers can become listed later on
in the following Apple page containing the official AirPrint printers:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
We understand that Apple may need to conduct
some conformance tests in order to consider
that our printer has already officially supported AirPrint,
so we may need to consider such also in our schedule.

The round button at the bottom of the iPad's front is your Home button.  The Sleep button is on the top edge near the right corner.
Normally the Sleep button just puts the iPad to sleep but does not acgtually turn it off.  If you used the "Slide to power off" arrow and turned it off, you will need to hold the Sleep button for several seconds until the Apple logo appears, in order to turn the iPad back on.
I wonder if you did the reset the right way, but just did not hold both buttons long enough for the Apple logo to appear?  I just tried it on my iPad 2, and it took 17 seconds before the Apple logo appeared.  It took another couple of minutes for it to restart to the "slide to unlock" screen.

  • Official response from support : We dont care whether it works or n

Front Panel Header Intel HD Audio Compatible (2x5pin)
Under specifications for X-Fi XtremeGamer you have the above. In other words the card is compatible with Intel HD Audio Front Panels.
Now i have here an official response from Creative Support saying that said front panel, listed in the specifications, is for their own internal testing purposes ONLY.
In other words, whether it works for their customers is irrelevant. Creative does not care whether it works, as their official stance is that it is only for Creative internal testing, and NOT for customer use.
So whether it works or not for customers is irrelevant.
Lets pause here for a moment. The advertised specs here on Creative's website...are not what is available for customer use?
    So...
24-bit Analog-to-Digital conversion of analog inputs: 96kHz sample rate
96kHz sample rate right? What next?
"Oh sorry 96kHz sample rate is for our own testing purposes only, we cannot guarantee the customer is able to achieve a sample rate of 96kHz. Even if you get a sample rate of absolutely zero it is not valid for warranty purposes."
If technical specs are not what is really available to customers...wow...then this is a major scam. How about buying a fi've room apartment to discover that...SURPRISE...its only a two room flat, the fi've room is for testing purposes only LOL.
Jesus christ why doesnt Creative just ship all X-Fi XtremeGamers with the front panel pin soldered off after they finished testing? After all its not for customer use right?

Do a search on the forum I remember seeing a few links pertaining to this. The link above is from Creative Knowledgebase showing connectivity options for the X-fi's. Creative doesn't sell the cables so of course they will be of no assistance and would not support it. They were?no help in my case and I had to figure it out on my own.

  • Who do I contact for support

Yesterday I got the YVM4 error when trying to access the On Demand players i.e BBC iPlayer. Tried a soft reset by pressing the blue on/off button at the front for 8 secs but problem still persisted.
I then turned power off/on via the switch at the back and problem gone!
Today I found that On Demand and BT Vision were not available, got error saying not connected to network.
Tried both the previous solutions and by turning power off/on at the back I got demand back and network showed connected.
My broadband was functionning correctly on my PC so loss of network.
The YouView Community forum has a number of posts about this, with some people getting the problem on a regular basis, and it is being reported that it may be due to the box losing the DNS setting. The following fix was suggested by YouView:
Please go to Settings > Network & Internet > Network Connection Status. If the status is saying CONNECTED, please try the following steps:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wired Connection. If the box is saying AUTOMATIC, switch it to MANUAL. Click Next. You will see three rows of numbers. Leave them as they are and click Next. You will see two rows of boxes, Primary and Secondary DNS. Leave the second row blank. Put a single '8' into the Primary DNS boxes so that it reads 8.8.8.8. Click Next and when it finishes finding your router, click Finish.
Turn off your router, and reset your box. Turn the box and then the router back on again. When it resumes, you should be able to access On Demand content.
However there seemed to be some misgivings by users that this would actually make any difference.
Having had both the problems mentioned earlier I started to wonder who I should contact for support if I get problems. Should it be BT Vision as they supplied the box, or should it be YouView as it's their service.
    Would appreciate some advice.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have mine setup for static ip addressing, due to the number of devices I have on my network - so not had that issue as of yet.
The reboot of router will flush the dns, so this is why it's recommended as if something had spammed dns cache it can cause numerous problems, so best to clear it out which is by rebooting the router - for pc's you can clear cache on the pc itself via command line - and on my pch-c200 i can clear the cache directly on that.
In regards to support, if you got the product from BT then BT should officially be providing the support and no-one else, but there should be no reason why you can't go directly to youview or humax to get other questions you may have answered

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite, I can no longer print to my Kodak AiO.  The fix on Kodak site does not work.

Since upgrading my Macbook to Yosemite 10, I can no longer print to my Kodak AiO 5250.  The fix on Kodak site with Terminal does not prompt to password like it says it will.  Macbook has all available upgrades completed.  Printer works with a PC.

This is where I found the Kodak fix:  http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49247/selected/true
I'm not really comfortable in 'Terminal' but tried it.  Nothing happened after pasting in the first command.  The fix says it will ask for password.
I see now this seems to be a pretty common problem, I would have thought Apple would fix it with an update for the number of complaints I've found.  Since Kodak is in receivership or bankruptcy, I would think it's unlikely they will have any more solutions.  I feel like Yosemite stole my printer.

  • HT4356 How can I AirPrint in a Kodak printer?

How can I AirPrint in a Kodak printer?

There aren't currently any Kodak printers that support AirPrint - only the printers that are listed on this page support AirPrint.  You could see if Kodak have their own app in the app store that supports your printer, or there are third-party printer apps such as Print n Share and PrintCentral Pro which might work with it.

  • ILoathe and iHate iTunes 7.3 and Apple's lack of support

Like thousands of other people, I found iTunes 7.3 is unusable on my machine due to the error "The iTunes library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50)." It has been nearly one week and Apple has not officially commented upon the error let alone fixed it. In addition, reverting to iTunes 7.1 and 7.2, which worked for several days, now fails upon loading due to a runtime error. So despite USERS having worked on the issue and found an apparent work around, I cannot implement it. This effectively makes my computer useless for playing music or podcasts. Thank god I did not buy the iPhone or AppleTV or I would be even more livid. Given Apple's lack of concern for it's customers, I will have to rethink ever switching over from Windows to a Mac.

Have you even bothered phoning tech support? iTunes
is a fully supported program over the phone (free if
you have a warranted product, $29 otherwise). So,
even though you think that Apple is refusing to help,
you're wrong. Tech support number is
    (1-800-275-2273).
No, I did not phone tech support as I do not have any Apple products that are under warranty. In addition, several people who claim they did call Apple support, after there were 25,000 views on this issue, were told that they were the only people who had this problem and their issue was not resolved.
Now, for this issue, try the following:
For the runtime error, completely remove iTunes and
    Quicktime
    (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698)
. After it they are removed, just to make sure,
download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
    (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301), and then
remove all references of iTunes and Quicktime.
Thank you. When I used the Add/Remove Programs to uninstall iTunes I mistakenly believed that I was UNINSTALLING iTunes. Silly me. Going in deleting additional files as mentioned in the document did allow me to re-install 7.2. For that I sincerely thank you. This allowed me to remove all podcasts (keeping the files) while in 7.2. Video podcasts are the alleged cause of the failure of the 7.2 to 7.3 upgrade to work properly.
Try re-installing iTunes 7.3, and see if it gives you
the same message. If it gives you a message saying
the library couldn't be saved, try this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313.
When I installed 7.3 without any podcasts being in my library it installed correctly. Since I did not delete my files I was able to import the podcast folder back and then resubscribe to my podcasts. iTunes 7.3 appears to be working correctly now. The document that you link to would also have fixed this. Thank you for posting the link.
If you get a (-50) error while trying to put songs on
    the iPod, try this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304996
I have not been brave enough to put my iPod into the cradle yet.
P.S. I love the whole "Apple's lack of concern"
quote, as well. Notice how each of the problems you
described have an article you can now reference with?
Well, each of those articles have been around for
months. "Apple's lack of concern" has effectively
turned into "your lack of searching".
    Cheers.
Do I feel Apple is not properly supporting this issue? Yes. Apple has known for days that the 7.3 iTunes upgrade will destroy the file library of thousands of iTunes users. There is no warning, no official comment on the support forums that I could find, and no 7.3 fix. I consider that poor support. If you feel good customer support is forcing users to spend their time searching thousands of forum posts on this one problem, most of which did not offer solutions, and make them uninstall/reinstall software, and their library files that is fine. I think it is unacceptable.
None-the-less, I thank you for taking the time to post the document links which were quite helpful.

  • Kodak ESP 3200 stopped working after upgrading to Yosemite

Kodak ESP 3200 stopped working after upgrading to Yosemite

Kodak has posted an unsupported hack that has been reported to enable printing to a Kodak printer not supported in OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"). Perhaps it would have the same effect with some other kinds of printers that aren't supported in Yosemite. I have no information about that, one way or the other.
I have not tested the hack myself and I don't know all the possible effects. As far as I know it will not break the compatibility of printing software that is already compatible with Yosemite. It may degrade the security of the web administration interface of CUPS. That interface is not enabled by default, and will not be enabled by the procedure described here. Even if it were enabled, I know of no way it could be exploited, with or without the modification. Nevertheless, if you have enabled the web administration interface, you should disable it if you decide to follow these instructions. If you don't know what the web administration interface is, you haven't enabled it.

  • Can't open  Kodak PCD files in Photoshop CS4

    hi,
I can not open Kodak PCD files in Photohsop CS4, I do not have a diskof Photohsop CS3 or CS2 to copy  Photo CD.8bi  file. can anyone have idea form where I can download this plug-in so that I can open Kodak PCD file in Photohsop CS4. I am using windows 7.

People have been googling this. There are several free downloads that will open this type of file. Then just convert it into something like a jpg so photoshop can open it. Even Kodak no longer supports these files.

  • Does 11g support no auto_increment / auto_assigned columns?

    Hi,
I am using openJPA and run into following issue when using Oracle 11g:
"Oracle" does not support auto-assigne d column values. The column may not behave as desired.
In other words: The database does not support auto_increment values for rows?
Is there a workaround for that?
The openJPA community did create some warning for Oracle in their framework:
    https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENJPA-1090
However ... the warning does of course not fix anything.
Is that a workaround for that? Is there a special way of creating Oracle Database so that auto_assigned / auto_incrementor is allowed in fields? I mean currently Oracle does not seem to be compatible to openJPA so we cannot use this database or recommend it using it to our users.
You can see our sample db configuration that we have been publishing for Oracle here:
    http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/Configuration_Oracle_11g
I would be very happy if we could officially release OpenMeetings with support for Oracle.
    Thank you very much,

    Thanks for your answers,
well of course I do know that Oracle supports sequences, my question is why openJPA does not generate those by default cause the same code works with DBs of other vendors.
However I am already posting the same question to the openJPA mailing list, maybe they have some workaround for such issue. I guess it must be some kind of configuration or setup problem, not really a coding issue.
    Thanks,
SebastianActually, it would be a coding issue. For instanced, MS SQL Server does have an auto increment data type. Just define the table with that datatype for a PK column, and no further consideration needed. Oracle is not SQL Server under a different lable. To get a "auto increment" PK, you have to (1) define a sequence, and (2) be sure every insert issued against that table uses/references that sequence to populate that PK column. And the best way to make 100% sure that happens is to write an ON INSERT trigger. And one also needs to be aware that Oracle makes no guarantee that a given sequence number won't be 'wasted', so the behavior is likely different from SQL Server's AUTOINCREMENT data type.
So... any third pary app written to work with both products needs to be able to take into account all of the differences, of which this is only one. There are ways to deal with this to minimize the burden of maintaining separate code bases, but I'm afraid most vendors take the worst possible approach and simply treat the dbms as a data dump and write to the least common denominator. And lest you think that just because a vendor has a big name they know what they are talking about think again. I've mentioned several times on these forums about the experience I once had with a vendor making his pitch and claiming that his company did not recommend Oracle because "it won't support more than five concurrent connections." I made sure they didn't make the short list.

  • Using old, unmaintained Kodak plug ins

Dear Adobe Staff, please take action to make Kodak Plug Ins possible for Macintosh CS6.
Aparently, they are unable to integrate them into the new version of Photoshop without your participation.
    Below is their reply.
Please be aware that our Plug-Ins are 32-bit. CS5 allowed for our Plug-Ins to be installed in 32-bit mode on the Mac, but this was not offered for CS6. You might check with Adobe to see if they will offer this in future.
We are currently evaluating the possibility of updating our Kodak Professional Image Enhancement Plug-Ins to 64-bit, but have no definite plans as of now. Please periodically visit our website for any updates to our plug-in availability.
Please reply to this e-mail should you have future questions.
    Sincerely,
    Kodak Professional Technical Support

It's not that they don't allow for it.  A 64 bit Photoshop application simply can't call on 32 bit plug-ins.
Adobe has moved away from providing 32 bit Macintosh software on purpose.  As I recall, Apple may not provide the 32 bit development environment they need, and Adobe's move is not dissimilar from Apple's clear philosophy of quickly dropping support for old things.  You can find more info on Adobe's decision to stop making 32 bit Macintosh versions in various places online... For example:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2012/03/photoshop-cs6-operating-system-support-and- beyond.html
By the wording of their response, Kodak clearly recognizes the need to move up to 64 bits.  But they're no longer really a happening company, so it's unlikely they'll be funding new development efforts.
