No Page Display in Portal (UWL)

Hi all,
Currently, I have a user who normally can approve one employee leave request under a role. Now, although employee has submitted leave request via portal, the user (approver) couldn't load the page (where he/she normally approve the leave request via that page of portal) and thus stuck in the leave approval process.
There is no Java (J2EE) error but just a blank page with buttons (Menu, Back, Cancel, Tools) on my page.
I tried to log in as administrator and look at the Assigned Role utility (under User Administration) for that user, and seems the role is correctly assigned to the user. It should load the work item execution page but nothing is there without known error (not even java error being displayed).
Is there any other authorization involved that I may have miss out?
Also, I am not quite certain whether it relates to cache problems. But I can see there is a Cache Clearance at System Administration->System Configuration->Universal Worklist Administration->Universal Worklist - Cache Admin
There are two options:
- Clear Expired Items
- Clear Cache
What is the impact by choosing one of the above options?
Any advise is highly appreciated.

Thanks for your information. However, does clearing Cache will help to prevent Blank Page (Just having Menu, Back, Cancel, and Tools button on the blank page) though user has created a leave request to manager to be approved?
Apparently, when I look into those other successful work items (Leave Approved), it has a webservice being fired at the Terminated Event tab. I am suspecting the webservice couldn't be fired ,and thus users having Blank Page when they tried to approve the leave request.
Do you have any idea why those webservice could not be triggered? Anything relating to Portal configuration or setup?

    To make sure whether it is a change delivered by SAP note, we need to know the settings in Adobe does not block it. "Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager > Internet Access from PDF Files outside the web browser > Change Settings". Selet the radio button "Allow PDF files to acess all websites" and please try the URL again in confirmation letter.
    Secondly could you please perform the following steps as a further means of analysis to see if you are able to open attachements:
    Access the Portal using a direct link url
    Navigate to the following -> content administration -> portal content -> content provided by SAP -> end user content -> standard portal users -> iviews -> com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.iviews -> Universal Worklist right click it and then choose "preview", then in newly launched IE window, please also try to open .docx / PDF file etc to see if you are able to open it? Or you will see blank page again?

    I want that activity ,task and document in CRM inbox(t-code:sbwp) can be display in UWL task iview, and can pop-up to deal with when be clicked .
    The workflow type item in ERP can be display and open to deal with by default.
    But I need to the same function of CRM inbox content.
    I had done some configuration according to "Configuring the Business
    Package for SAP CRM 5.0 SP01.pdf".
    But it can't realized my requirement.

    The answer from SAP:
    The maximum size of request URI is hard coded in kernel, and it cannot be configured by a parameter. The maximum size of PATH is 4096, and the maximum size of query string is 4096 as well.
    If the request is a post request, you have to ask the calling side to move some name value pairs from query string to the POST body.
    If it is a GET request, you have to ask the calling side to change it to POST and move value pairs to the POST body.

  • How to set full-screen page displaying automatically  on portal.

    one viewset included two views (named <b>topView</b> and <b>detailView)</b>
    putting a <i>table control</i> in the <b>detailView,boz</b> of many columns of the <i>table</i>  exceed the width of portal screen,which result in the  <b>topView</b> is the same width to the <b>detailView</b>.both of the two views exceed out of the full-screen width.but i don't wanna move the <b>topView</b> when i drag <i>scroll horizontal bar control</i>. so i added a <b>ScrollContainer</b> into the <b>detailView,and</b> put the <i>talbe</i> control into it.
    the confusoning is :i don't know how to set the the <u>width</u> of the  <b>ScrollContainer</b>  cotrol , to keep it  full-page displaying any time on portal .
       u know the IE'Screen resolution setting maybe different ,e,g,:1024786px  and 800600px.

    Give the width in % instead of mentioning in pixels.
    ie. for full width, give 100%.
    Make sure the layout is GridLayout.

    This can be accomplished by using Entitlements Segments.
    You can define them in EBCC. you will have to define a user profile which
    will contain user information (like gender).
    Once you have two segments defined, you can use portal administration site
    to configure entitlements for pages and portlets.

    You can crate a URL iview by selecting the URL Iview template while creating a new iview. Pass the URL of your internet address in the URL Iview wizard.   • Page "Display Trip Form"

    Hi All.
    I am implementing ESS/MSS for Travel expense. I want to use iView and Page "Display Trip Form". This iview and page is in Portal contend directory :Portal COntent -> Content provided by SAP -> End user content -> ESS -> Pages -> Travel and Expense .
    When I take a pre view of this page I get bellow error message:
    "At least one optional parameter must be specified when method is called"
    Do you know why this message is comming and how can we fix it. Is there some config missing or do I need to set some property of iview/ page?

    Display Form aplication needs trip number & employee number as parameters. if you click on preview in PCD then you are not passing any parameters in application. once you associate this ivew with travel & Expense like in UWL or with some event then you can see proper output.

  • Web Dynpro Application is not openeing from Portal UWL

    Hi,
    I have developed a WD application which is integrated in the portal. This WD application navigates through several levels of approval by triggering the workflow. Initially USER will create the request launching the WD application from portal and upon clicking the SUBMIT button -> Workflow will be triggered and Work item will be sent to Approver UWL list in the Portal.
    Link will be displayed in the UWL list and upon clicking that link WD application need to be opened where the details will be displayed and can approve the request by clicking on APPROVE button.
    Here, We have created a PFCG role which can be assigned to USER to access the WD application to create the request from portal. But for Approvers, we have not assigned any such roles except UWL role.
    Workflow is working fine, Workitem is displayed in Approvers UWL but when they click on the link -> WD Application is not opening. Configuration in SWFVISU is done.
    I think we are missing some roles which need to be assigned to Approvers. We cross checked by assigning SAP_ALL profile to the Approers and found WD application is getting opened and everything is working fine. But we are not supposed to give SAP_ALL in the PRD.
    Please help what are the other roles that need to be assigned to Approvers.

  • How to add 1 more column in standard portal UWL and map the values.

    I have one issue/requirement, please help me out on that also.
    In portal UWL, i want to add one more column TICKET ID COLUMN, and ticket id value I  will be putting as work item ID of abap Workflow, so whenever  approver opens his portal UWL, in first column i want to show ticket ID say 00012345, so how to add this ticket ID column in standard portal UWL and how to put/map  value of work item in that column.
    My idea behind this is, when ever say employee wants to know the status about his ticket ID, he can simply ask his manager regarding the ticket status by referring to that ticket ID which manager can easily find in his portal UWL in that extra TICKET ID COLUMN .
    Do I have to change anything in SAP inbox also ? Do i have to add 1 more colum in sap R/3 inbox also ? and will adding 1 more colum in sap inbox (R/3 inbox), will create automatically one more ticket ID colum in portal UWL also ?
    please let me know , as i do not want to add 1 extra column in R/3 inbox, just i want in portal UWL extra ticket ID column should come and i want to put workitem ID generated at the start of workflow, in that colum in portal UWL
    please help me on this.

    Hi Satyam,
    These are called custom attributes.  Here is a powerpoint that may be able to assist you with the documentation that the other poster gave you too.
    Always remember too when you make a change on the backend R/3 side, you must reregister your UWL connector.  And yes, the column must be available on the backend R/3 side.  We can't create on the fly columns in the UWL, that have no reference to the backend system in this case.

  • BI Beans Graphics not Displaying in Portal

    Has anyone encountered issues with BI graphs failing to be displayed in Portal? I can access the URL outside of portal an the graph works fine. I can create presentations in BI as crosstabs and the can be seen via portal but once I change it to graphs it fails.

    I think I have the same problem John. I create my JSP/Servlet BI Beans Graph in JDeveloper, and can run locally no problems. I have deployed the JSP on my application server in its own OC4J instance, and the first time I opened the page it worked fine, but ever since the first time all I get is a missing image. You can look at the properties of the image and its somewhere in Cabo etc?!? (Can't tell exactly at the moment, because I'm out of the office).
    I'm no Java expert, in fact far from it, but somebody gave me some pointers. If you go to Enterprise Manager and look at your deployed application in the OC4J instance, I think look at its properties, I can see the UIXServlet is not loaded. Even, after accessing several pages, it is still not loaded. I think the UIXServlet is used for rendering the graph pages. My Java colleague suggested to investigate why this was not loaded. To date, 2 days, I have no figured out why. I have not raised a TAR yet, but I have also seen this problem with Discoverer graphs, which share the BI Graph Bean.
    Maybe together we can work this out?!?! I'll be back in the office on tomorrow, hoping to sort out the problem. So please keep me posted on any progress you have, as I am trying to deliver BI Beans in a project in May!!
    Maybe, somebody else out there has had the same problem? Have you raised the problem in the BI Beans discussion forum?

          I created some T-iView containing some Z-report. Now my requirement is without giving any portal role how it will display in portal favorite  screen(left side of the portal main screen) so user can directly see the preview of the iview containing customize report?

    1) first check your portal desktop which frame work it is using.
    By default we use default framework page.
    It can be found in the path   Content admin->portal content.   in pcd content navigate to  content provided by SAP-> end user content
    There you can find the default framework page
    open that and check the desktop inner page and click open
    remove the portal favorites iviews and put your own iview there.
    My suggestion is make a copy of your default framework page and customize it and use this framework page in the portal desktop
    Search for customizing the default framework page and desktop in SDN. you will get lot of links

  • Any iView to add WPC page in NW Portal 7.3?

    Hi All,
    Recently we have upgraded our portal from 7.0 to 7.3.
    In 7.0 i used to create an iView from com.sap.nw.wpc.runtime portal component,in the iView i use the RID of Compound Document to give the path of the WPC page in KM.Since i am adding WPC page to the iView i could able to use the  edit Page option.
    But in 7.3 there is an iview template WPC Web Content iView,with this i could able to add only the WPC content not the page because of that i am not getting the edit page option in 7.3.
    Anyother way to add the WPC page to the portal page.??Any body faced this issue??,Kindly help me to solve the issue.

    Hi,
    since NW 7.3 SP9 it is possible to connect to a page not only to the area. The page itself has an id which you can use to connect to within a role. see here:

    if you don't have SP9, you can achieve this as follows:
    1. create new iView from gpar:/com.sap.nw.pcc.mgr/default (this iview has ability to run wpc page via rid = path to runtime page), the old iview wpc.runtime.... will not work anymore.
    2. to find the rid of your wpc page you have to go to pcd inspector, path
       pcd: com.sap.portal.pcc/StagingAreaId/<yourarea>/ and click on "all properties" on the page you want to display. search for property com.sap.portal.pcc.rtObjectId
    copy this value to rid in the new iview and the page will be displayed with the new iview.
    if you have SP9, you don't need pcd inspector as the page id displayed in area management is the same as com.sap.portal.pcc.rtObjectId

    when i try with url http://localhost:7001/DefaultWebApp/mepsdls/login/login.jsp,
    it referred login.jsp file but no page displayed,
    because of the following error (Error message at last....)

    where i should make/place directory "spool"? And how to set any path/classpath

    But let's start from basics. This all depends on what kind of application is supposed to open, when you click the item. What happens if you click the item in Business Workplace? Is there some web based application (web dynpro?), or is there just a normal SAP transaction?
    In the extended notification configuration you can define that "where" the application should start. For example if you have a web dynpro application, you can define the host of web dynpro in SWNCONFIG (I think that it was in the general settings). Or if it is a transaction, you could open the transaction in webgui.
    Another option is that you remove the links from the mail (if you don't get them working). This is also possible, just configure it in SWNCONFIG or SWNADMIN. For example you can modify the text of the mail to "You have new work items in Business workplace, please go there and process the items...", and no links in mail. => The users are just informed to process their items, but they cannot do it directly from the mail. Of course this is not that  cool...

    I have a problem regarding my Email Notification regarding SWNCONFIG.
    When a wokitem received thru Email (Lotus) is Executed, a Window opens and <i>supposedly</i>, the workitem will be displayed. However, there is no page displayed in the window (html) for execution.
    I haven't configured yet a Universal Worklist for my SWNCONFIG. Am I right that I have to configure a UWL or is there any other option where a workitem is Displayed and could be executed?
    Please send me a link about UWL or other solution.
    We are on Ecc6 and I used SWNCONFIG for the extended notification thru SWN_SELSEN report.
    Please share some words on my issue.
