No Tools in new project window for xcode

Hi
Can anyone please help? I have recently started to learn C language and currently reading a book that advices using xcode, this has been downloaded with no problems from the original disk. In the back of the book it advices opening a new project where by the assistant window pops up with various languages and more and to select "tools", this should be located at the bottom of the menu list underneath "static library" but it's not there. I have inserted the disk and installed xcode tools.mpkg, I have also searched on Google and it mentioned about installing x11 SDK so that it shows in the default menu I have also done this yet it still does not appear? I cannot get tools within the new project menu and I'm getting quite frustrated as I do not know what I am now doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can start to understand and explore C. Many thanks for reading!

Xcode's interface has changed from release to release. It sounds like the book may be referring to an older version of Xcode where the location of that template project was different.
I assume that the following would probably be what you're looking for:

P.S. Two really quick tips. If you're viewing a source code file and you see a function, method, or constant and you'd like to see where it's defined, hold down Command-Option and then double-click on the word as if you were going to select it. If possible, this will open the header or source file where that item is defined. (If there's more than one possibility, it'll show a popup menu of choices first).
The other tip is very similar. If you'd like to see Xcode documentation for a function, method, or constant (like in the first tip), hold down Option (rather than Command-Option) and double-click on the word as if you were going to select it. This will automatically open the Xcode help window and issue a search for that item.

For Premiere Elements 11 and 12, you cannot change its default project preset from NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 or its PAL counterpart PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 to something else.
For each project, you can set the project preset manually if you do not want the program to take over setting the project preset based
on the properties of the first drag to the Timeline.
To set the project preset manually, open the project to the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, change the project preset. Before you exit that area, be sure to have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" in the new project dialog.
Then you import your source media, using the appropriate Add Media choice.

After installing CS4 Master Suite on new Windows 7 X64 laptop, Premier Pro new projects window will not accept input.

I'm migrating my CS4 Master Suite to a new computer. The new system is a Dell M3800 running Windows 7 x64. Install goes fine except for a failure on Flash install. Once install is complete Premier Pro won't accept any input on the New Projects window. You can click on the file name field and change it but that's about it. No buttons will function. If you change the name and leave the field you can not change it again. No further input is accepted and the actual change you made isn't applied. You can exit out of the window with the X. You can also go to an existing project no problem. All other applications seem to be working fine.
Tried uninstall and cleanup and reinstall. Problem does not change. Made sure anti-virus and firewall were disabled before install. No other applications are running during install.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am trying to determine the new project preset for a multi-camera video shot as follows: 3 Canon camcorders,
Main shot is DV (tape) (720x480, 29fps) - ceremony and reception
b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base. I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen. Is there a better option? I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR. I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)

Please review since I am not sure how you obtained Video 3 tall when you scaled Video 3 with Constrain Proportions in effect.

It becomes a zoomed in effect to get rid of the black borders. But, there is no tall and thin involved anywhere.
And, after the Scale increase, you can always click on the screen and move the image around a bit
(without overdoing it to get black borders again).

No Instruments in "New Project" window

When I open GarageBand (2009) and the initial window opens, showing "New Project," "Learn to Play," etc. down the left column, I select New Project. But only "Podcast" and "Movie" appear in the option field. No instruments. Aren't instruments supposed to appear there?

I don't have GarageBand 09, but the projects you should see in the "New Projects" panel, are stored in your System Library as templates. Check the folder
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Templates/Projects/ in the System LIbrary. For GarageBand '11 I see the following templates:
01. Piano.band
06. Acoustic Instrument.band
02. Electric Guitar.band
07. Songwriting.band
03. Voice.band
08. Podcast.band
04. Loops.band
09. Movie.band
05. Keyboard Collection.band
So you should see at least Piano, Acoustic Instruments, Electric Guitar, Voice, etc.
If these project tempates are missing, you could try to restore them from a backup.

Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

hi all,
I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
cover the entire screen.
For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
preview button while posting the message to the forum.
Someone please do help me out in this regard.

I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
popup.

How to open the link in new firefox window for web desktop based application? Or how to open the mail/website/rss link in new firefox window

I am using the firefox 3.6. My problem is that I am using the web desktop and few web desktop based application directly opens link. If I click on rss link than it opens in same window, so no longer access to web desktop. I want to open any kind of link in new window instead of same window. I have tired to change the value of browser.link.open_newwindow, browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction but doesn't work. Also gone through the https://developer.mozilla.org/en/window.open but not sure where to do this in web desktop based application or firefox where we connect the web desktop?

Hi Joseph,
the HTMLB link object misses the support for onClientClick through the tag lib, see hbj:link without onClientClick ? and OnClientClick Event for Link HTMLB Component for similiar problems and workarounds.
With this workaround, you can call for example an AbstractPortalComponent, implement doOnNodeReady (with an empty doContent method) and return the PDF, settings the content type on the http before etc.

New browser window for Jump Query

Hi SAPGuru,
     I have main Query with three jumps Query (QA, QB, QC). I created web template with main query and three other web templates for jump query. All are working fine. When I am running main query template and trying to jump from main query to QA web template. Its open a new browse window thats fine. So now I have total two browsers are open. Now when I try to jump from main query to QB that web template is showing in the browser window which is shown by QA. Means its overwrite QA query with QB query in browser.
     I need to open a new browser window when I jump from main query to child query. In short I like to open one browser for main query and three another browsers (QA, QB, QC) to jump query so, I can compare all query with different browser window.
         Am I missing something in web template side or IEs option side?

Check the RRI_DISPLAY_TARGET property of the web template. make sure you do not have this set to open in the QA window.

New Browser Window for SWG File

You have opened the Render Engine. Either you clicked on the wrong app or you have a fouled up text file in preferences. There are several threads on this forum that point to the solution.

Load iM to new project window

Every time I load iM it auto loads the last project I was working on. Is it possible to configure iM to load to a new project screen instead?

I have read where others have saved a blank project to the desktop. That way, you can double-click that project and, since there is nothing to load, it opens quickly.
Then you can chose New project from the drop-down list.
Not a fix, but at least a workaround.

New file type for XCode

Hi!
I want the XCode to apply C syntax coloring to the .nc files, which are not recognized by it. There are settings to change coloring schemes for known types, but i couldn't find anything to add a new file type. Each time I open a .nc file, I need to select the syntax coloring scheme manually..
Anybody has any idea on where to find settings for that?

I ran into this same problem just yesterday and I was glad to even find out that I could temporarily fix the problem by relaunching the finder. It also happened to my while I was renaming files. It allowed it for a few files and then all of a sudden, nothing. I couldn't type, or do any key commands with anything related to the finder, although all of my application files were fine.
I am clueless as to how to permanently fix this problem, although i am thankful to read on how to relaunch the finder to fix it for a bit.
I'll keep checking back to see if some guru stops by with the answer.

Firefox 4 opens a new firefox window for every tab I open

Everytime i open Firefox 4, all my old saved tabs are opened in their own new window in addition to being put on my tab bar. Each new instance of the windows has all access to all the other tabs from the original window as well

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Missing Run Results Window in Xcode v.3 (Standard Tool)

I am using Leopard and the C Compiler in the new Xcode v.3
I Created New Project > Command Line Utility > Standard Tool
I then built the following, and it Succeeded okay:

Problem: When I Ran it, nothing happened. There was no run window that came up and showed the results of my application. It worked fine in Xcode v.2
Any suggestions?

I didn't talk about any debugger button or anything. I talked about the debugger window.
With all project closed, you can look in the preferences --> General --> Layout, you put in All-in-one mod. When you'll open a new project window you'll have a new segmented control in the top left corner of your project window. The first button gives you access to the project page, the other to the debugger page (or window), that's where you can find the consol at the bottom of the window, by default it is folded, so click on the little circle and pull the drawer up to make the console visible.
However, there's also other options that you can set. Just go in the Preferences again, go in Debugging, you the local menu "+On Start:+" in there, choose one of those three option :
- Show Console
- Show Debugger
- Show Console & Debugger
They roughly do the same thing. Then when you'll click on Build & Go, or just Go, it'll show the console in your project window directly showing you the result.

Starting Permier Pro for the first time - how do I create a new project?

Starting this software for the first time.
New Project window is asking to load a preset. There are no presets.
This is not good software - I can't get past the first window!

Before you post any further questions, please take a look at the video tutorials in Adobe's video workshop. I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to save you from having to ask many basic questions that can be answered by watching the video tutorials.

It is a great resource and can get you up and running. Just select Premiere Pro CS3 from the products window, then select the topic "Getting Started" and finally the title. Start by selecting "setting up a project" under the titles window.
Its like having your own in-house instructor.
However, as Jeff said, the trial version will not have certain features enabled.
