Nokia 6700 Classic sensor settings

Hi.
I have just recently bought the Nokia 6700, and was pretty impressed by the feature that allows you to view the clock, mute, reject calls etc by tapping the phone. However, I've been unable to get it to work. Any clues as to what could be wrong here? I've activated it through the phone settings, but still no joy.

Free Navigation for Nokia 6700 Classic

Hi everyone,
I notice the recent Nokia announcement that navigation is now free on all it's S60 based phones.
However, I just purchased a new Nokia 6700 Classic (Which has built in A-GPS, Nokia Maps pre-loaded & full offline Australia maps), but it runs S40 Software.
At the moment it appears Nokia still wants to charge me for turn-by-turn voice navigation. It seems a little unfair that the free navigation will only be offered on the S60 handsets when all Nokia have to do is send a free license code to S40 maps users to enable us to do the same.
I'm currently using 'We-Travel' on my Nokia 6700 which is a free 'Offline' GPS application. I'd much prefer to use Nokia's own maps software for navigation, but it's too expensive.
Does Nokia have any intention of making the free navigation available on the 6700 classic, or will users of non-S60 handsets still have to pay for this function?

Nokia 6700 Classic V7.60 release notes

Can anyone tell me what changes have been made in firmware V7.60 for the Nokia 6700 classic?

yes it would make sense. if you have an n series or e series phone there is a chance you will see those notes, changelog but usually it is not common practice for nokia as it is not public knowledge. sorry mate. keep googling for it, it might show up somewhere

Nokia 6700 classic & instant messaging

Dear sirs, I have a nokia 6700 classic and I cannot use the instant messaging system: I enter the “chat” application and I can select only the "Ovi" service.
How can I add other services (GoogleTalk, Messenger, Yahoo talk)???

Buying 8 GB for Nokia 6700 classic

I had bought a Nokia 6700 classic. Would buying a large memory slow down my mobile phone?

this phone can handle a 16 gb card so you will be fine with the 8gb only if the higher card was at maximum capacity in general yeah it would slow things down a bit

Nokia has not announced any specific availability dates for any region/country.
All that has been published is here:

where there's the statement "expected to ship in the second quarter of 2009".
That means it'll probably ( "expected" is not the same as "guaranteed" ) be available somewhere in the world by the end of June.
Of course, it could also mean that it will be available somewhere in the world as early as 1st of April, too.
Note that if you are after operator customized versions, they also usually come only 2-3 months later than so called unlocked or SIMfree models.
So, if the unlocked model comes in some regions at the end of 2nd quarter (end of June), it could be August/September before it is available in your part of the world (where ever that is), depending on the situation.
If you subscribe to Nokia press releases via http://www.nokia.com/press then when it actually starts to ship somewhere, you'll get notified via email.

Nokia 3110 Classic - Some settings :/

I just upgraded my phone from Nokia 2100 to Nokia 3110 Classic (finally, yay.)
In my 2100 I had a couple of settings I used.
a) Setting to change the amount of time the phone lights up.
b) Setting to change how long the phone waits before going into standby mode.
Not sure if those are the same things, but my 3110c lights up for quite a while

You can no longer set the time it takes for the backlight to go off. The other setting you will find under the screen saver settings menu in your display settings menu.

Nokia 3120 classic display settings

Hi!
The "Nokia 3120 classic User Guide" (9207764, Issue 3) in chapter 6. Settings -> Display says:
Sleep mode -- to save battery power, the display turns black when no function of the phone is used for a certain time
If I understand correctly the purpose of that option, when it is set to on it should turn off the back light of the display when the phone is not used for some time (a few seconds). By default that option is enabled.
I tried to disable that option (set it to off) but nothing changed -- the display light turns off very quickly, which is very annoying for example when reading/writing messages. To prevent the display light to turn off you need to press a key every few seconds.
I also tried to disable the "power saver" option in the display settings but I didn't notice any difference either.
IMHO, there is a bug in the phone firmware regarding those options. Moreover I thing that user should be able to change the time interval after which the display light is turned off in the sleep mode.
Another issue with that phone behavior: Using an analog or digital clock as a screen saver (Settings -> Display -> Screen saver) is quite convenient because the default digital clock in top right corner of the display uses very small font. When the keyboard is locked, the screen saver activates after a few seconds of inactivity (that time interval should be adjustable too), but the display light turns off also, which is OK when the keyboard is locked. Now the question is how to turn on the display light (to see the clock in the screen saver) without turning off the screen saver at the same time? Currently you have to do the following:
(1) press one of the navigation keys in order to turn on the display light
(2) wait a few seconds in order to activate the screen saver

Can someone from Nokia please response to this thread? The lack of control over the display light duration is a huge disadvantage of the 3120. It sounds like a small issue, but it is really not. I would recommend anyone who is interested in the 3120 NOT to get it, for this exact reason.

Nokia 6700 Classic Voice DIalling Tags

I have just puchased a Nokia 6700 as a modern replacement to my faithful still functioning but somewhat battered 6230i. However I find that it seems that you can no longer attribute voice tags to individual entries for use in my handsfree car kit.
One seems to have rely upon the voice recognition software which, perhaps possibly because of my Somerset English accent, seems to have a zero success rate. For a handsfree kit having some options is not suitable and to me defeats the whole object of voice dialling. Is anyone aware of a software downgrade to take what is a really nice package back to something that is as useable as my previous 6230i?

Voice commands is a little different to the old Voice tags. Some people say the South African accent works best but there are ways around that.
First use the Playback option in the Voice Command menu to playback what the phone thinks each command should sound like. You should issue the commands as closely as possible to that. That was how I started and the phone seems to have learnt my accent now because nowadays it works almost all the time in my normal accent.

Nokia 6700 Classic MSN Messenger Problem

For some reason i cant even sign into MSN i was never able to. I have 3.5G access here and am able to surf the net with it but not eable to go on MSN. Did anyone on here have this problem?

I would love to know the solution to this as I am seriously thinking of going back to my 6500 slide due to people thinking I am a dalek when they call me.
I don't understand how when I call out or use the phone through my car's handsfree system there is no problem.
I absolutely love the simple design of the 6700 and would love it even more if I didn't have to phone every caller back when they have given up trying to understand what I am trying to say.
I have turned off the voice clarity feature that I thought was the issue and still the proplem remains.
Has anyone managed to get anywhere with this?

I bought a new nokia6700 classic with unlimited internet.My problem is when i browse through diffrent video sites,some of them wants flash player to play specific video.So my question is is there any flash player software available for NOKIA6700 classic or any software that i can play those videos.plz i would be really greatfull if someone can help me with it.thank you

Haven't seen a flash player to Series40 phones ever. On the otherhand the video content in those cases is typically so heavy (high resolution and high bandwidth requirements) that it would not work fluently with a mobile device. Have you checked if the video site you are interested in has a mobile version of it ? f.ex. youtube has a mobile version m.youtube.com

Importing photos nokia 6700 classic

hi can anyone help i use windows 7 and import my photos from my mobile phone when i first imported my photos they were going over ok but now i am getting this message THE FOLLOWING ERROR OCCURRED WHILE IMPORTING BLOOM.PNG ACCESS DENIED THERE ARE THREE BOXES TRY AGAIN SKIP FILE OR SKIP ALL FILES I CAN SEE MY PHOTOS AND UP TO TO DAY EVENTUALLY MANAGED TO TRANSFER THEM BUT TODAY THEY WONT GO OVER THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHER PICTURES AS THOUGH THEY MAY BE SCREENSAVERS

If you have images in internal memory of the phone, move or copy them all to your memory card. Now put the memory card into a memory card reader and connect it to usb port of your computer.
Now just copy all images to your computer.
If you don't have card reader, connect your phone to computer in mass storage mode and copy the images to your computer.

Message times for Nokia 6700 classic

when i send texts the correct time in my shows ok But when i receive texts straight back there is a diffrence of minus 1 hour ..Has any body incured this problem as a freind of mine is in the same situ

i have also faced same problem.
bt didnt find any solution till now.
Receiving time of mesages are wrong.
Plz let me know hw to correct it.
It creates trouble for me.

Routes on S40 phone (nokia 6700 classic) using way...

Hi,
I hoped it was possible to plan a route on my phone (for cycling), using waypoints. Is this possible on this S40 device? Is it going to be possible in the near future? Or is there no development done on this OS anymore? Or does somebody know another way to do this?

You might need to use dedicated J2ME software application such as Bike GPS Mobile for this purpose.

Nokia 6700 - Issue with Contacts Settings

I just got the Nokia phone today and transferred the numbers across via my SIM card. Previously all my contacts were shown with the first name first. Only the first contact on my phone is like this now, the rest are last name first. I've tried changing this through the settings options but it doesn't do anything.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Dear Hazel,
Contact names on the phone memory has two fields i.e. Last name & First name. Contacts in the SIM has only one field and by default if you copy the contacts from SIM to Phone, names will be copied into the Last Name field on the Phone memory.
