Nokia E71 plugin incompatible with iSync 3.1.0 / Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.1)

After upgrading to Snow Leopard the calendar sync has stopped working towards my Nokia E71.
However, when disabling the calendar sync option , the contacts are syncing just fine.
I wonder if there'll be a fix for this in the near future? When contacting Nokia support, they tell me to contact Apple, because Apple are making the E71 plugins for iSync.... (is this really true?)
Have tried "everything" in the Apple support site. The only result from that was that after resetting the sync preferences via Sync Diagnostics, the whole sync process crashes midway.

It's more than likely some corruption has occurred in one or more of your calendars. iSync Plugins that worked in Leopard should continue to work in Snow Leopard.
Only sync individual calendars until you find the one that causes the sync to fail. Then export that calendar from iCal (File > Export), delete it from iCal and re-import (double click the exported .ics file). This often fixes corrupt calendars.
Apple are making the E71 plugins for iSync.... (is this really true?)
No. Nokia make the plugins that they provide from their site. Apple make the iSync application.

  • HP Color LaserJet 2840 Incompatible with MAC OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

The printer defaults to "pause" when attempting to print. Clicking "resume printing" does not unpause the printer. I spent one hour with Apple tech support yesterday with no resolution.
I removed the printer from System Prefs, then reinstalled, but that did not resolve the issue.
HP tech support advised designating "Generic PostScript Printer" in the Print Using box when then adding the printer, but it still defaults to "Pause" when attempting to print anything.
No problems with the Canon Pixma.
    Advice would be much appreciated.

Upon upgrading to Snow Leopard, I could print but could not scan. Deleted all existing printers that pointed to my CLJ 2840. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the 10.5 drivers resulted in a dialog box that stated there was a problem installing /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
The printer was not automatically found, and could not be manually added via HP Setup Utility. I decided to fix the problem with the kernel extension (kext).
I opened a terminal and ran the command
    sudo kextutil /System/Library/Extensions/hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
which informed me that there were problems with the permissions on that kernel extension. I then ran the commands
    cd /System/Library/Extensions
    sudo chown -R root:wheel hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
    sudo chmod -R g-w,a-w hpcolor_lj_2800series.kext
and then rebooted and that seemed to do the trick.
The only thing that doesn't work now is the Fax fuctionality. the URL for the fax is set to "file:///dev/null", which doesn't seem productive at all. I'll post when I discover anything there.

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

  • I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard.  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and foolishly upgraded to Yosemite. Now have numerous problems.  Is it possible to go back in time with Time Machine and reinstall Snow Leopard?  Then upgrade to Lion or Mavericks?  Any other ideas on how I can exit Yosemite?

Once you get yourself back to Snow Leopard, if you still want to upgrade somewhat, I would suggest the following:
    1. Get an external hard drive that you can use for experiments with new OS versions. You could partition it into 2 or 3 partitions. You could then clone your existing Snow Leopard system to one partition using Carbon Copy Cloner (well worth $40) or SuperDuper ($25).
    2. Buy OS X Mountain Lion for $20, through the Apple online store (I don't think it's available through the App Store). Apple has decided to make it very difficult for anyone to get Mavericks unless they have already downloaded it.
You will receive two e-mails from Apple, one containing a PDF with a redemption code, and one with the password you will need to unlock the PDF. Using the code, you will download Mountain Lion from the App Store, where it will appear among your Purchased items.
After ML finishes downloading, its installer app will launch itself. When you see this launch screen, QUIT the install app immediately! Go to your applications folder, find the Install OS X Mountain Lion app, and copy it to a safe location outside of your Applications folder. Keeping one or more copies will allow you to reinstall without unnecessary aggravation if you later need or want to do that. At this point, you can re-launch the Installer in the Applications folder and let it run. You can install it on a clean partition on your external HD, or you can allow it to upgrade the Snow Leopard clone you created on your external drive, or you can do both. This should allow you to test how everything works for as long as you like.
    3. If you left yourself a free partition on your test drive, try a clean install of Yosemite and set everything up from scratch (do not migrate anything). This will allow you to see whether your problems with it were related to something in your Snow Leopard system.

  • I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Want to upgrade to Lion to take advantage of icloud. Is there anything I can do without getting a new MacPro?

I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo and Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Would like to upgrade to Lion but it requires a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo. Can I get what I need or do I have to buy new MacBok Pro?

I also have a core duo MBP with Snow Leopard and it runs perfectly.  There are very few things it cannot do as compared to the faster, newer MBPs, but that is attributable to the CPU, not the OS.  There are some who view Lion as downgrade rather than as an improvement.  If there are important applications that reqire a fast CPU or Lion features that you find essential, by all means get a new MBP.
I have an aphorism:  Obsolescence is more often a perception rather than a reality.  Besides the silver keys look much classier than the black ones.
    Ciao.

It will input your Quicken PPC data file directly if it was Quicken 2005 through 2007.  If older you need Quicken 2006 or 2007 PPC first to convert your data file; and this update must be done BEFORE you upgrade to Mavericks:

  • Will Lion open Appleworks documents with Pages or Numbers as Snow Leopard does?

Will Lion open Appleworks documents with Pages or Numbers like Snow Leopard does? Or do I have to convert all my Appleworks files before installing Lion?

Functionality of Pages and Numbers has little to do with whether it's runnong on Snow Leopard or Lion.  Either way, if they open an AppleWorks document in SL, they'll open it in Lion.  Of course, you have to understand that certain file types - particularly, AppleWorks databases - cannot be opened with anything other than AppleWorks, so you'll need to convert them with AppleWorks before upgrading to Lion.

  • Anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?

is anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?
    - address bar and search box are not resizing with browser window. the address bar and seach box set their size to the window when Safari is launched and remain that size.
    - anytime i try to customize toolbar items disappear and i have to restart Safari to get them to appear.
    - some 3rd party icons just remove themselves from the toolbar after a period of time
    - when i drag a page from the tab bar to create it's own browser window the window disappears but is listed in the windows menu bar. when i select that window from the menu bar the window appears but i can't click on anything.
I've repaired permissions numerous times, reinstalled safari numerous times and restarted my machine numerous times and the issues all remain. i've never had any issues with Safari until now and 5.1 is looking like a huge mess.
besides the bugs above, has anyone had any luck with 1password working with Safari 5.1?

ok, i narrowed most of my issues down to Web Snapper and Videobox by TastyApps. Removed both of those and now everything works better.
I went out to lunch and came back an hour later and magically ALL of my previous toolbar icons that were added to my previous version of Safari appeared. Very strange.
as for 1password, it wasn't working at all before when i posted. everytime i tried installing the extension via the app my, Safari would open a window and hang (never load). I just tried it again and it seems to now be working.

  • Problems with iCal Server 2 and Snow Leopard Clients

I am currently running iCal Server 2 on Snow Leopard Server, with approximately 6 client computers connected to a single shared calendar account.  I have digest authentication enabled, and am thus using Kerberos (but not SSH), as well as 3 iPhones.
Upon initial connection, I can get all the clients - computers and phones - to properly pull down all the calendar data, and match one another.  However, several of the computers are having trouble updating properly when new events are added.  After some troubleshooting, it seems that the computers running Snow Leopard are not properly updating with events that are entered from other computers, either Snow Leopard or Leopard.  They can, however, post events to the server themselves without any errors.  Interestingly, the Leopard computers can push and pull updated events just fine, and will update with new events whether they originated from a Snow Leopard or a Leopard client.
We had some recurring login/authentication issues a while back, which seemed to resolve when I disabled digest authentication; I'm wondering if perhaps that has something to do with the problems now.  We're mostly using BusyCal as client software, with the iPhones obviously using iCalendar.
Just looking to see if anyone else has had similar problems, with Leopard clients working well and Snow Leopard clients having issues.  Thanks!

    Noby_me,
A lot of folk are having major issues with many Adobe programs and Snow Leopard. You are not alone. For many, rolling-back to Leopard has been the cure. From "word on the street," it appears that Apple is aware of these issues and are working on an OS update. I have no schedule, but that word was out about a month ago, so let's hope that the update is soon in coming.
You might want to do a Search on this, the Encore and the PS fora for "Snow Leopard." There are plenty articles.
    Good luck,

  • Acrobat X plugin incompatible with Firefox 7.0.1

Firefox 7.0.1 plugin manager reports that "Adobe Acrobat-Create PDF 1.1" is incompatible with Firefox.  And, indeed, there is no Acrobat Toolbar visible on the main browser window.  Is that so, and why?

Maybe a re-installation of Acrobat will put it back?
    No it won't.
The problem is not with Adobe, but with Mozilla. They automatically disable  extensions until the developer certifies it is compatible with the new version, and in the case of binary XPCOM extensions such as the Acrobat Create PDF toolbar, it has to be recompiled from scratch for every major release of Firefox as the version number is coded into the headers. Even if you disable Firefox's compatibility checking, it won't run.
With Mozilla's new rapid update policy, Adobe cannot possibly keep updating Acrobat every time Mozilla push a new version, and developers are not allowed to fake the compatibility header to refer to a future build. Each time Adobe do push an update to Acrobat (via the quarterly schedule) it can be expected to come with an extension compatible with whatever current (RTM) version of Firefox exists at the time that update code was developed. Given Adobe and Mozilla have wildly-different schedules, until Mozilla drop their rules on recompiling XPCOM the extension may be killed again in a matter of days, and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

  • Tags Plugin Incompatible With Shuttle Item

I installed the Learning Library (http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r41/inst_pkgapp/inst_pkgapp.htm) and found that the Tag plugin is incompatible with the Shuttle Item. Page 17 contains both and the shuttle item does not function. It will not shuttle any items. If I remove disable the Tags item (which is of Tags Plugin type) the shuttle works as expected. I looked around for information on this plugin but did not locate it on http://www.apex-plugin.com/search-plugin-directory. I'd like to keep if but I definitely need the shuttle item working so I may just go with a text item for the Tags field.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jason

This error should only appear when you use a list-item with the list-type set to combobox. A combobox in forms is a listitem where you can also enter your own text. If you nly need a dropdown list, set the liststyle to poplist. This works also without patching. if you really need the combobox, patch.

  • When is Apple coming with an update to fix Snow Leopard???

I can't tell you how LONG I've waited to upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger! I bought it THE DAY it came out, manually backed up everything I had to my External Drives (OVER 6TB worth of data!) and to my surprise installing Snow Leopard was just like installing a new App. I popped in the CD, and bam! In like 45 Minutes I was up and running and all my data is UNTOUCHED! WOW! This is unheard of in the HISTORY of Operating Systems!
The computer restarts, and first thing I do is open up Safari. VERY Fast Internet, by the way! WAY faster than before! But! Not ONLY does it NOT respond at times, but man! It BOGS DOWN THE WHOLE SYSTEM! I'm sitting here in amazement! I can't do JACK for like 15 minutes! It actually reminded me of WinCRAP! Then! Finder stops responding and when I try to re-open it, I get an error message! So I have to restart the Mac.
This is ALL in the FIRST DAY which was almost 2 weeks ago!
    Fast forward to now:
Is it me, or is Snow Leopard just a LOT SLOWER than Tiger or Leopard?! Programs don't start up as quickly. Safari doesn't crash anymore but it just doesn't respond at times and I have to force quit! It's a CONSTANT on-going thing, here with Safari! Firefox is NO different!
I have been force quitting apps like 50 TIMES A DAY!
I am REALLY confused here! This is APPLE! NOT WinCRAP! This should NOT be happening!!!
When are they gonna release the next update to get SL running the way it's SUPPOSED to be running.
I'm frustrated here, but patient, too, because, well, it's Apple and for some reason I have a VERY HIGH tolerance level to Apple. I have NO patience with Windows by contrast. NONE! I get ONE ISSUE and I want to throw the god **** PC out the window! LITERALLY!
But with Apple, I feel like I KNOW that they are listening and that they will be fixed, but I'm getting REALLY tired of force quitting non-responding apps and the slower performance.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Sina

And I can't just uninstall ALL my plugins. They set the foundation for all the music I create. I have NEVER had ANY issues prior SL.
I still have and use 4 PowerPC G5's because of all the work I do and they are all linked through Fibre Channel. I kept them as backup units as well as general use and since I got my Mac Pro, they are now functioning as the main servers to my network. And because I can access them with my Mac Pro, I can still manually backup my files from my Mac Pro into one of the G5's or DIRECTLY to the RAID System which the G5's are linked to.
The thing I hate about ProTools is that it doesn't support RAID for some stupid, ignorant reason which is why I have to manually back up my ProTools Files on the RAID System. With Logic I don't have these limitations and I actually use the RAID system to access my Logic Project files once their backed up to the RAID.
And here's the thing: When I upgraded one of my G5's from Panther to Tiger back in 2005, I had NO problems whatsoever.
I bought the Mac Pro to prepare for the upcoming software and OS. I didn't upgrade to Leopard because I didn't feel the need to. My Mac Pro came with Tiger and I was really happy with the way it worked and how everything was flawless. And when SL was announced I was VERY eager to upgrade because of all features I knew I could use: The Updated Finder, a TRUE 64-Bit platform, Expose and Spaces which blew my mind in SL and everyone talked about Speed and Memory and how everything is faster in SL. That made me REALLY eager to upgrade since the plugins I use could really benefit from these upgrades and
And I didn't really need Time Machine because I was used to MANUALLY backing up all my files on the RAID system. I have almost 16TB of storage capacity on the RAID configuration and I use one of the internal drives for Sample Libraries, the other is used for Projects, the System Drive with the OS of course, and the last one is used as an extension to the System Drive for general things: GarageBand, Photo's, Documents, iTunes, Downloads, etc.
Now whenever I fix these issues I'm having with SL. I'll start using Time Machine for my general stuff and ProTools files and if it's compatible with RAID, this is gonna be a REAL time saver!

  • Problems with Safari since upgrading to Snow Leopard!!!  Help!!!

I updated my OS to Snow Leopard a couple of weeks ago and have noticed a significant change in the way my Safari runs. I NEVER had problems with it prior to the upgrade. Lots of times it is unbearably slow in trying to open the page and more often than not it says "Safari Cannot Open The Page". This leads me to close Safari, wait a couple of seconds, and open it back up again, then repeat if it happens again! All of my other programs seem to be running fine, it's just Safari... and I did reset Safari and empty the cache. I would hate to have to lug my 24" iMac through the mall to the Apple store. ANY ADVICE?!?!?!?!?! Much appreciated...

    HI,
    Try Safari maintenance...
Do this one more time anyway...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Could be a 3rd party plugins causing the problem. Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins. Move any 3rd party plugins to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Also, if you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, run in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. *Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*
    Now restart your Mac.
If nothing has helped, then post a crash log and we can get a better idea of what's happening...
How to locate a crash log:
    1. Open Finder.
    2. Click "Go" in the menu, then select "Go to Folder".
    3. Copy and paste this path into the Finder dialog:
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/
    4. Click the Go button.
    5. Finder opens the folder containing the crash log. Look for a the crash file with a date field that looks like the most recent.
