Nokia Mail getting old email initial setup

Hi,
When setting up Nokia email and selected for example: remove emails older than 1 month.
Why doesn't nokia mail download all the mails till 1 month old?

Hi shazada,
I had the same question a while back and I was told that this is functioning as designed.  Basically, this setting is not designed for the client to download email from the timeframe you specify.  It just tells the client to start storing email for the timeframe you select.  For example, you changed the "Remove older than" setting to "1 month", this only means that your device will now start storing email for 1 month.  In order for a month's worth of email to appear on your device, you will need to wait about a month for that to happen so your email can accumulate on the device.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I get old emails from Time Machine into a new Mail?

I have (I hope) email data in Time machine as of April 8  which I can't figure out how to get into my newly reinstalled version of Mail.
I took over my brother-in-law's iMac on April 8, and closed his User ID, saving it in a .dmg file.  Now that he has a new computer, he would like his old emails, so I reactivated his user ID, and reinstalled his email accounts in Mail as of May 27.  When I look at the Time Machine Backups drive, there is a data folder for April 8, but when I open my newly re-installed Mail and click on Time Machine it only goes back to May 27.
Is there a way to get at the April 8 data?
    Thanks,
    jrguest1

I set up an admin account for myself, logged on to it, and then followed the procedure in the help file to delete his account, saving it as a .dmg file.  Then, when he asked for his old emails, I followed the procedure in the help file to restore a deleted user account and copied the contents of the .dmg into it.
I'm not entirely confident I got the restoration sequence right, since I find the order of steps in the help file confusing. But everything except the Mail data seems to be recovered.
Another source of trouble may be the email account settings:  when I opened Mail under his log-on, there were no accounts set up: I recreated them using his email address and password, but Mail may well be treating these as new accounts, rather than re-opened old accounts.
    Thanks, John

  • I am not getting the icloud initial setup email.

When I try to setup icloud, it asks to check email for instructions to verify the account. But I am not getting that email. Has anyone faced this issue? How did you resolve it?

    Hi VRPitt,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you are attempting to set up your iCloud account but have not received the verification email. I suggest the steps in the attached article to get this account verified. Make sure to check the Junk or Spam folders to see if the email was routed there.
    iCloud: Account troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3988
I can't sign in to iCloud on my Mac due to an alert stating that my email address has not been verified.
If you can't sign in due to the alert “Account not verified - Check your email for instructions for verifying your account”:
Close and reopen iCloud preferences before attempting to sign in to iCloud again.
If that does not resolve the issue, check your email folder and Junk folder for a verification email sent from Apple.
If there is no verification email in your email folder or Junk folder, click the Resend Verification Email button in iCloud preferences.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • TS3274 I keep getting old email messages that I have deleted.  How do I get rid of that?

I kep getting old messages in my email box.  How do I get rid of this?

Go into settings and the 'mail and contacts' tab, then explore that account set up (accounts set up differently so I can't give specific directions) and see if you see an option to 'delete off server when deleted off device'
You may also need to access the mail account on the web and see if you have to give it permission to allow a mobile device to control it (I had to go into hotmail adn tell it that it was okay if the mobile device controlled the server)
Ultimately what you need is for your iPad to delete the messages off the mail server so they go away for good.

  • Getting old email on my new mac

First, I apologize if this is covered elsewhere. I bought a macbook last night. I've moved over most of my stuff from my old imac (running 10.4) to the new mac boo (running 10.5). I've got the mail account set up, but how do I get the old emails over to the new machine.
    Thanks for any help.

quit mail on the new computer and move the folder homedirectory/library/mail AND the file homedirectory/library/com.apple.mail.plist to the corresponding locations on the new computer. delete the already existing folder and file on the new computer first. then when you start Mail it will look just like it did on the old computer including all accounts and messages.

  • Mail sends old emails to recipients

For a while now we have had people tell us that they receive old emails from us. There does not seem to be a pattern but every once in a while I look in my sent folder and I see that Mail has just sent an email that I previously sent days or weeks ago.
Does anyone know a fix for this problem?
Using Mail version 2.0.5 and Mac OS X 10.4.3
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Update:
My friend claims he never got such an email, so perhaps it's just a glitch? It's still there in my Sent folder, however, although just on the iPhone and nowhere else.
Still curious to hear from Mac officials on this!

  • When entering time machine with Mail app, old emails are showing in inbox

    Hi All,
Has anyone encountered this issue or has a solution:
When I am in Apple's Mail application, specifically in my inbox and I "Enter time machine", my inbox count goes up by at least 100 extra emails and is showing in all recent backups and even in the "Now" setting. Old emails that I've already read and deleted/dealt with are showing up there and I'm not sure why. When I exit time machine, it goes back to normal and they disappear. I would like to have it accurately reflect what my inbox looks like now and the last few days. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Chris

I've tried what you suggested with all the steps, but additional emails are still showing in inbox in "Star Wars" mode. Also, many of the old emails showing are from over two years ago. Very strange!

  • Cannot get old email messages onto new Z10

I have a bb9800 and am trying to get the old email messages off of it onto the new Z10. The 9800 only had the telus.blackberry.net email address and on the Z10 I have the company email. Is there a way to get those emails over other than forwarding them all individually

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you mean that you wish to have your old @telus emails visible on your Z10, the answer is no. That email was provided by BIS, and BB10 does not use BIS. Hence, those email addresses cannot be configured to a BB10 device. So, the only way to have those emails on the BB10 device is via forwarding from the @telus email account over to one that indeed can be integrated to the Z10.
BTW -- you need to migrate off of that @telus email address, as it will be going away. They are allowing one year of auto-forwarding (which you need to configure...contact Telus for assistance), after which that @telus email address will cease to exist.
    Good luck!

  • I keep getting old emails returning to my iPhone as new emails - they don't reappear on my laptop but this happens periodically on my phone?  any ideas?

I have been receiving old emails on my iPhone that I've received before.  They come in as new with the new date received yet they are emails I've received in the past.  They don't come into my laptop - only on my iphone.  Any ideas?

Did you restore your new iPhone 4 from the backup of your iPhone 3? Did you make a current backup of your iPhone 3 BEFORE restoring this backup to your iPhone 4? Photos in your camera roll are included in the iPhone backup, but they must be in that backup in order to restore them to your new phone.

  • I just had to have my iPad reset by a tech and ever since my email is messed up....I keep getting old emails coming in as new ones what can I do please????.

I Need help with my email account . I had a tech reset my iPad .....lost everything....but my email account keeps bring in old deleted mail as new....what can I do to stop this....please I need your help!!!!

It sounds like your email account was/is probably set up as a POP account, meaning changes you made in the email program on the iPad would not be synced with the server.  If you had also chosen to keep copies of downloaded messages on the server, it makes this sort of thing happen.
If you switch to an IMAP account setup, your deleted files will stay gone next time you delete them.  It won't solve your immediate problem, but it will make them stay gone next time.  You could also look at going into your webmail if you have one and deleting the messages there before they donwload to the device.
IMAP is also better if you receive your emails to more than one device (ie, your home computer and your iPad), since it maintains the same folder structure, and emails marked as read on one will be read on the others.
Hope this helps you with your problem!

Is your account set up as ActiveSync or IMAP?
If IMAP, you have to delete it and set it up again, and will have an option of up to 90 days.
If ActiveSync, go to Settings > Accounts, and choose your your account.  Select Advanced at the bottom of the screen.  Scroll all the way to the bottom of the advanced screen and you'll see the option to change Sync Timeframe.
    Hope this helps.

  • Virtual Mail Domains and Email Client setup...

    Hello,
I have read the Apple Mail Services pdf and I have read petrobytes pdf on virtual user setup and I now have it working.
The question I have is if I have a virtual domain called vdom1.com and a local domain called ldom.com and I have a user called "user1" in each of these should I not be able to to use "user1" as the username in a mail client config? It won't let me and I would really rather not give out usernames that look like vdom1user1, if at all possible?
    Thanks,
    tom

Well, obviously you haven't read my tutorial properly
    11. - What do my users need to know?
"Username: user1 and password will not work or fetch the wrong
mailbox (unless the user is a local domain user). For virtual
domain users, [email protected] and password is the
    way to go."
Use user1 for the local domains and [email protected] for the virtual domain.
