  • Predictive text (normal vs word suggestions)

Using a 3120classic I've selected Predictive Text - Word Suggestions.
On my previous (non Nokia) device with predictive, when I started entering a long word like 'yesterday' after a few characters it would autocomplete the whole word. I thought that's what choosing Word Suggestions would do but it doesn't seem to.
Is this sort of feature available?

Which Nokia phone will give me word suggestion? I don''t particularly want a very sophisticated phone with camera, internet etc. All I want is to speak and text, but with word suggestion, completing the words for me,  not only the basic predictive text. Can someone please suggest a phone that actually does that instead of only claiming to do it? (And what's the law on misleading claims? W.S. is listed in the functions!)

  • Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text ?

Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text options that my iPhone is giving me? I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.
There are specific words that are popping up in the area right above the keyboard where it displays 3 word suggestions to choose from. This area seems to suggest words that I have typed before, I'd like to remove these words. Default seems to select the word in the center and when I'm typing fast on occasion it will recommend and select words that I don't need to use.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I know in 10g delete is added but in 9i i can only work with UPSERT( update, insert)
is there a way to add delete into 9i MERGE? or somehow encapsulate it?
Thank youI would suggest upgrading to a supported version of the database. 9i has been unsupported for many many years now.
And to answer your question... to the best of my knowledge, there is no workaround. It works as it works.

  • 6303 predictive text 2-letter-words give numbers

    Hi,
Using a 6303 classic, in text messaging, pressing 2 then 3 gives "23" instead of the word "be".
The problem is mostly with 2-letter-words - "of", "on", etc.
It used to work fine in the past.
I thought maybe the number-words had been added to its dictionary, but can't find any way to remove them.
    Longer words work fine.
I've changed the suggestion "23" to "be" many many times, but it still keeps offering the default match of "23".

    Hi alata
Select the "pencil" button, scroll down to Predictive Text > "Matches" and then the list becomes available.
Star key(*)bottom left on pad will change words. Keep pressing until your happy with the word or you will be asked to spell it.

  • 6300 predicted text starts to forget saved words

    Hi there
I've been using my 6300 for about a year now and I absolutely love this phone!
However, I believe it is starting to grow old and forget the older words I enter into the predicted text.
    Is this a known issue?
I have tried searching the forums using advanced search with the terms.
"all of these words": predicted text 6300
"at least one of these words": spell
    and "all forums"
what I have done while composing a message is:
    1. with predicted text enabled, type in my surname 'nguyen'
    2. it will show "mit?"
    3. I select the "Spell" option and enter in "Nguyen"
    4. Press save
    5. Finish typing the message and send.
The word will remain available again, but I am sure that it has erased another word I have entered.
If there is a software limitation to the number of words I can save, then I am ok with that, as long as I know my phone is not faulty.

There is likely to be a limit to the number of words you can add (due to the memory size), but I don't know if it starts to overwrite old entries or just stops saving new words. If the former is the case, that would be the answer.

  • Suggestions - predictive text and text entry

I don't know if this forum is intended for suggestions but here are a couple anyway.
    1. Because email and sms text do not operate in landscape mode the keyboard is very small. This leads to a large number of text entry errors compared to ther devices I have used. The screen sensitivity is excellent so this is ont a problem with using a touch device. Allowing landscape data entry would go a long wawy to solving this problem - the keyboard when used with safari in landscape mode is a lot better (perhaps 10% of the missed keys). An alternative which would be better for single handed use would be to ditch the qwerty layout and have a key pad that runs to 4 or 5 rows of keys instead of 3. In most cases it is only neccesary to see a single line of text entry so there is plenty of screen re-estate to do this.
    2. The predictive text feature on the iPhone is very poor. This is due to a fundamental error in its design. The current implementation assumes that the current word typed is complete but may be misspelled. To be more useful the feature needs to assume that the characters typed are correct and suggest complete words that start with the fragment available. The predictive text in Windows mobile is infinately better that that of the iPhone (and one of the few features I miss from my old phone!).
If this is the wrong place for posting these suggestion - sorry

  • Predictive text non-English characters to be made ...

I just filled an enhancement request on this feature, please vote for it HERE:
Predictive text non-English characters to be made optional
The story is: while using predictive text for non-English languages (Polish in my case) the dictionary words are grammar correct which include special characters like: ą,ę,ć,ś,ż,ź,ó,ł etc. For texting (SMS) operators count these as 3 characters making a message much longer than it looks. Therefore I can tell you no one uses these characters while texting and people use EN only characters instead a,e,c,s,z,o,l... which makes using the predictive text useless for eg Polish language.
I'd like to have an option to switch using these non-en chars off for predicting text, which is grammatically not correct but in real life that's how people type.
So basically if there's an option to disable lang specific characters I would be getting an example suggestion of 'Prosze' instead of grammatically correct 'Proszę'. 'Prosze' is a 6 character word, 'Proszę' is a 5+3=8 character word. Considering a single SMS message a 300 chars, than it really makes a difference.
Simple solution would be to replace every char ą with a, ć with c, ó with o etc... in each word suggested for the ones who have this option enabled.

    HI,
You can write a code in PAI of main screen. there by using loop at screen you can make that field editable or disabled.
    Code sample:
    loop at screen.
    ****condition for value check
    if screen-name = 'TEXT_EDIT_NAME'
    screen-output = 1.
    screen-input = 0.
    modify screen.
    endif.
    endloop.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Why is predictive text not working on my iPhone 5s anymore

Why is predictive text not working on my iphone anymore

Actually, I just found the answer to my issue in this thread: The type correct/predict function for mail and text in iOS 8.0.2 was working fine then suddenly disappeared and reverted to the old style. I've checked all settings that seemed appropriate. How do I restore? I actually liked the new version.
Which says "a thin gray bar with a white dash in the middle of it immediately above the keyboard, you can reopen the suggestions by sliding up with one finger on the white dash."
    That did it.
I too have noticed a change, it seems with the new IOS update. My Predictive setting is on, but it seems before it would come up more often in predicting words and also give me a few choices. Now, it's not coming up as much and only providing one 'predictive' word which is not always right. This change is not very useful.

  • Predictive text on N95- Do u know how to use it?

Hi, All the phones I have used up to now & the Predictive text, once you type the 1st 2 or 3 letters the phone would predict & give you a choice of possiable words and then u confirm which one.
I just got a N95 and have turned on the predictive text, when I start to type a word and the 1st letter, it comes up with a word starting with a compleatly different 1st letter !!! Maybe I dont know how to use this system, can anybody please shine some light on this matter
    Thanks

  • N8 Predictive text oddities

For some reason, certain words insist on always starting with a capital letter, even though they're not the first in the sentence. Hitting the * button for other options doesn't show anything else, so I end up having to go into 'spell' & retype using all lower case. Why's that then???
Also, is there any way to change the order that punctuation appears when cycling round using the * button. I use commas more but they're 4th to appear, after .?! This is only when the word is underlined though, if I step forwards commas are second.
    Nokia N8 on Belle

Yep, agree with the above. A few annoying t9 predictive text issues:
    - the "previous" button is no longer an option (as was on my old n95 for example) so if you miss the choice you want you have to start again;
    - words like "where" and "when" start with capital Ws for some strange reason;
    - if you type a word and it is still underlined and then you add punctuation by pressing * the comma is the 4th symbol; however if you press > then 0 (so you get a full stop after the word) the comma is then only the second symbol;
    - hard to explain, but type the letter t for example, then press forward (>) and press 4 (so the letter i shows) and then * once so it shows g. Now press 1 to add punctuation, and the g reverts back to being an i.... quite frustrating.
Hopefully they resolve these issues in future patches.

  • How does predictive text work?

I realise that I must be the last person on the planet to start using predictive text, but I've just turned it on and I don't understand it.
For example, I click the "5" key for a "J" and it produces a "K".
I've no idea what's going on. Are there any 5 year olds out there who can explain how to use this feature?
Any idiots guide I can access?
    Jeff
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You have to type the whole or most oa a word before predictive text starts making any sense of it.
Eg. if you want to type the word "home", it is 4663. The word displayed weill be "good" which uses the same combination. Now you can cycle between the various works using the same combination using the * key. The second word in the sequence happens to be "home" but if you keep pressing the * key will see the rest.

  • 7205 Intrigue (Verizon) Predictive Text Dictionary...

This is the only downfall to this phone. I will be advising everyone I know as well as forum members that this phone is not for anyone who enjoys their texting to be more like they way in which they speak. The WORD (predictive text) dictionary on the phone doesnt save words and it is a pain in the butt to go in and save every single Quick Entry word you would like to use.
I will most likely be retuning this for a Motorola or Samsung in the next 2 weeks if a software update is not provided to fix this issue.
    Any suggestions?
    -Paul

I concur with thegr8revealing.  The lack of a save function for predictive text is more than a slight annoyance.  I'm on day 3 with the phone and I continously run into words that are missing from the dictionary that I'm forced to enter in long-hand.  For me, it nearly defeats the purpose of the text message.  Which I try to use for quick and short communications.
It baffels me that this feature was left out of the phone - it's so basic, but it greatly improve the experience of text messaging (something you may not appreciate unless you've experienced; it's trully frustrating!).
Like thegr8revealing, I will likely return the phone unless this issue can be resolved.

  • 3310 predictive text problems

As an older user of a fairly old phone I was comfortably letting mobile phone use pass me by until my children persuaded me that I had to learn to text. I have got the basics OK but no matter what I do the predictive text on my Nokia 3310 just seems to churn out rubbish and I have to keep going until "spell" comes up. I have now learned how to switch predictive text off - but would like to use it. The dictionary language is set to English - can anyone help me?

you might want to try FA136050 here

but i've always used the * button to scroll through options. once you move off the word it stops being a sequence of key presses and just becomes the letters as is.
There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.
