Non responsive Flash Player

How do I resolve a non responsive Flash Player plug in?  Message received is Flash Player is not responding, do you want to continue or close?"  At different times, have selected continue, close or just wait a minute and the message goes away.  Sometimes the computer will freeze.  Using current version of Firefox and the 16.0 Flash Player.  Have restarted Firefox, reinstalled Flash Player, checked our router/modem.   The message shows up constantly.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Download the following files (Right click and "Save Link as"):
Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Shockwave Player 12 FULL Installer (Other browsers)
You'll need to use this link (Shockwave Player 12 ActiveX FULL Installer) WITH IE to install the ActiveX Shockwave FULL Installer. There isn't a direct download link available. Save the FULL installer if ti allows you. If not you'll HAVE TO revisit the link to install it after step 9 below.
  2. Reboot.
  3. Run the Uninstallers from your Downloads folder, to remove BOTH Flash Player and Shockwave.
  4. Go to: C/Windows/System32 and delete the Macromed folder.
  5. Go to: C/Windows/SysWOW64 and delete the Macromed folder.
  6. Open your Windows Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key+r. Type "regedit" [minus the quotes] and click OK.
  7. In the Registry Editor, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and delete the Macromedia folder.
  8. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder.
  9. Close the Registry Editor and empty your Recycle bin.
10. Run the Shockwave FULL Installers first, and THEN the Flash Player Installers. These are offline installers and will require no connection during the process.
If problems persist, try disbaling other plugins and extensions, to determine if one or more is conflicting with Flash and Shockwave.

  • Crawlable SEO Friendly Responsive Flash player

    I want to have a responsive flash player that has an alternate HTML version (crawlable for search engines) and so far i have challenges with the integration.
    I'm able to have the html version working but i am struggling with the responsive part. Here's my code:
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="550" height="400" id="movie_name" align="middle">
        <param name="movie" value="movie_name.swf"/>
        <!--[if !IE]>-->
        <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="movie_name.swf" width="550" height="400">
            <param name="movie" value="movie_name.swf"/>
        <!--<![endif]-->
            <a href="http:www.spytronic.com/fr-ca/liste/cameras-de-surveillance">
                Video link about cameras de surveillance
            </a>
        <!--[if !IE]>-->
        </object>
        <!--<![endif]-->
    </object>
    So that's pretty straight forward, now the part i'm struggling with is the original width and height as attributes in the object tag. What i think i need is a
    jQuery function that runs once the document markup has loaded. With the selector object[type="application/x-shockwave-flash"], jQuery would pick up all flash objects on the page.
    The way that i see it is each object in the array tube will store the object reference itself, its width and height. So i have so far:
    var tube = [];
    $(document).ready(function() {
        $('object[type="application/x-shockwave-flash"]').each(function (){
            tube.push({
                element: $(this),
                height: $(this).attr('height'),
                width: $(this).attr('width')
    And
    $(window).resize(function() {
        clearTimeout(rebuild);
        rebuild = setTimeout(function() {
            $.each(tube, function (i, value) {
                tube[i].element.height(tube[i].element.width() / tube[i].width * tube[i].height);
        }, 100);
    Do you think this approach is good (cross-browser), resizable and seo friendly ?

    Your going about this all wrong.  You should be using HTML5 video with MP4, OGV and WEBM files. You'll find lots of file converters online.  This covers the largest target audience and works in all modern web devices.  So you don't need Flash  anymore.

  • Missing tabs after flash player update

    to update flash player, we must close our browsers. when the update finishes, the installer launches a browser with one and only one tab, congratulating us on our excellent job of updating flash. all other tabs are gone.
    i don't need to be congratulated, certainly not through a browser with my tabs closed. perhaps the updater could congratulate me as it's last action. if the only test for a successful update is to launch a browser, can that be done without closing the tabs?
    i'm sure this isn't the proper forum for this question, but there seems to be none for flash player installation problems.

    Spotlight search “Flash Player.plugin” (Search “This Mac” and choose "Show All in Finder")
    Right click the Plugin and select “Open Enclosing Folder” Trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt files.
    Go to: [user]/Library/Preferences.
    Note: You'll need to hold the "Option" key when you click "Go" from the Finder menu to access the [user] Library:
    Without the "Option" key
    And WITH
    Trash the Macromedia folder there.
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support. Trash the Macromedia folder there.
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Preference Panes (not Preferences, but Preference Panes). Trash the Flash Player.prefpane file there.
    Empty the trash. (You may have to reboot to be able to empty the Trash with the Flash Player prefpane in it.)
    Download the Flash Player (For Mac OS X).
    Quit Safari and go to your downloads folder. Double click the DMG to “mount it”.
    It will appear on your desktop and a small window will open.
    Double click the installer. If you see a warning, click “Open” to let it run.
    Click “I have read and agree… etc.” and click “Install”. Enter your password when asked.
    You may see the following: click “Force Close All” if you do, and then click “Retry”.
    The installer will run.
    Choose your update preference, and click “Done”.
    Open Safari again and click Safari>Preferences (Cmd+,)
    Go to the Security tab. Make sure “Allow plug-ins” is checked.
    That should be a COMPLETE "clean install" for OS 10.7.5.

  • What are you considering non responsive with the plugins? Flash player is working just fine then I get your crash page in the middle of doing something. You say it only crashes when it's been unresponsive for 45 seconds. Mine is crashing in less then 1

    I have had problems with firefox crashing for the last three month. I have updated to the latest version with the crash protection. Now the flash player crashes about every 20 minutes or so. On your blog page you state that I will get the crash page when the plugin has been non-responsive for 45 seconds well with mine the games are going along just fine then wham crash page. Flash player was responding and you gave me crash report anyway. What's up???? Flash player is crashing within seconds not 45 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your check plugin page always states that my plugins are UP TO DATE!!!!!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == three months ago and getting worse with every upgrade you send!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    '''''"I have had problems with firefox crashing for the last three month."'''''
    You need to investigate the cause of your crashes that started prior to the release of the first Firefox version that offered crash protection, version 3.6.4, released in mid to late June 2010; that is just over one month ago.
    <u>'''The crash protection feature does not prevent a plugin from crashing, it prevents the whole Firefox browser from crashing because of a crashing plugin; only the tab with the crashing plugin crashes.'''</u>
    For information about report plugin crashes see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Plugin+crash+reports
    You need to post the crash Report IDs for the crashes occurring over the last 3 months. To do so, type '''about:crashes''' in the URL/location/address bar, then copy and paste the Report IDs (only) into your reply. See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+crashes#Getting_help_with_your_crash
    In addition, please do the following. Type '''about:support''' in the URL/location/address bar, on the screen presented, click "Copy all to Clipboard" and paste that into your reply.

  • Non-responsive scripts after installing Flash Player 11.3.300.257

    Adding more info, I do not happen to have RealPlayer installed.
    After updating FlashPlayer to the latest version I experienced non-responsive scripts - I use NoScript plugin with Firefox, as well as Java 7 update 4.

    Java 7 update 5 has been just released, thanks for replying.
    I did not install it though, in order to try to reproduce the problem.
    I am a Mechatronics Engineer and I have a non-common OS and software configuration.
    There is a numerical simulation application in my system which requires a programming language compiler to run, and such compiler requires the OS primary SDK and framework to be "understood" by the system.
    That said, I believe all the debugging routines might be somehow limiting FlashPlayer abstraction layer functionalities.
    As awkward as it may seem now, Firefox did not crash after one absolutely random measure I took.
    I opened this page: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and downloaded Windows Flash Player 11.3 Plugin content debugger (for Netscape-compatible browsers) from this link: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/11/flashplayer_11_plugin_debug.exe.
    Although there is a hanging before opening the about page and Youtube, flash content is indeed presented.
    Well, there might be a different abstraction layer approach regarding this content debugger version.
    I wait for further insight from you guys.

  • Flash player does not work on Non Admin accounts

    I have 2 citrix servers running Windows Server 2k3. Flash
    installs and plays fine as the administrator, but once logged in as
    a regular user. Flash does not work. I have set the security
    permissions for the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder so
    that non admin users can modify and write to the folder. That did
    not work, flash asks to install, but when you click ok, it becomes
    a red X. Any ideas?

    Hi all,
    Please see the following article that may address this issue:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/624850b5
    “After successful installation under the Windows
    Administrator account, Restricted User accounts are unable to
    display Flash Player content.”
    This issue is never encountered with a new install of
    Windows. It is sometimes encountered with older images and it is
    strictly an issue with the ActiveX installer not for plug-ins.
    Please reply to this thread with your results. If the
    registry fix mentioned on this article helps, we will update the
    document to reflect that it is still an issue.

  • Firefox 13 is unusable hanging/non-responsive. I've downgraded flash, uninstalled plugins & un/reinstalled Firefox but I can't use it to try other possibl fixes

    Since updating to Firefox 13 it not only runs slow but hangs and becomes non-responsive on all different websites. I was told that the most recent Flash update was known to be incompatible with Ffx 13, so down-dated Flash and uninstalled non-essential plugins - which definitely helped, but has not fixed the problem.
    I haven't even been able to try the other potential fixes I've found on the Support site (adding into my computer's safe settings in case of firewall issue or creating a new profile) because Firefox won't work long enough for me to access them. At this point, shouldn't I just down-date to the last version of Firefox??

    All of a sudden firefox has become unstable - its hanging on the NYTIMEs website. I've done done everything - uninstalled, reinstalled, removed all add-ons, used default themes, reset firefox. Some serious problem here - I had to switch back to IE9. (Version 16.0.1 Firefox running under Windows 7)
    Oh by the way, I'm having the same problem on different computers all of which are running the latest firefox under Windows 7

  • Flash player will not play flvs from folder with name containing non-Roman Chars

    We're trying to play flash as part of a program that can be installed to locations including non-Roman chars (European, Arabic, Chinese, etc.).  When the installation path includes any non Roman chars, video will not play.  The non-roman chars are garbled when Flash tries to load the flvs. Correct non-Roman chars are: ńśćłł.  When loading video it gets translated to: ńśćłł

    Not exactly sure what you are doing, but it is obvious that some part of the program you are running does not support multibyte characters like Unicode.
    If you are developing that application, make sure it is Unicode enabled.  If it is Flash (or Flash Player) that doesn't understand it, then you may not be able to do anything about it.
    What I would try if I were to encounter the situation, I would try to use the DOS (8.3) path names, like C:\Documents and Settings would normally be C:\DOCUME~1 or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users would be C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1 etc.
    Use the DIR /X command to find out what the DOS folder names are.

  • Help needed to install Flash Player : 'Non-Current Release' problem!

    I been encountering problems while trying to install Flash Player on my laptop running Windows 7.
    Originally Flash Player does not work as I understand it is not supported on 64-bit Internet Explorer.
    After installing 32-bit IE, the following issue of 'non-latest version' arises and all installation were aborted by the application :
    The below were steps I had taken to no success.
    1.  Via the 32-bit browser, downloaded flash player un-install program and did the uninstallation with success.
    2.  Rebooted the laptop.
    3.  Via the 32-bit browser, downloaded the flash player version 10.0.45.2 from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.
    4.  After downloading it automatically did the installation with 100% completion.
    5. The program proceeded to activate the flash player with a webpage saying if the flash player is working properly, I should see a video and Flash Player's logo.
    6.  Before anything was displayed, an error message popped up to say I was trying to install a non-current version and that I should go to same webpage to download the latest version. The activation was then aborted.
    Tried many times but always encountered same problem and hence cannot proceed to use the flash player.
    Need assistance to diagnose the problem and to get Flash Player working on my laptop. Appreciate any help to get it working.
    Regards.

    Thanks to efforts of eidnolb and Bob, the installation of flash player into my laptop is now working .
    Bob's installer enabled the download successfully.
    Eidnolb's link in post 6 trigggered me that I may have previously installed the pre-release version 10.1, thereby leading to the 'non-current-version' problem too. Post in that link adviced to uninstall 10.1 using the pre-release uninstaller.
    I suggest others who had encountered this non-current release to uninstall first using that specific uninstaller, before attempting to install the most current release. I may have installed the 10.1 pre-release in desperation after failing numerous times trying to figure out why flash player does not install in browser not knowing its currently-non-support of 64-bit browser.
    Once again thanks for support, eidnolb and Bob.
    Cheers.

  • Flash Player (13.0.0.82) non-debug image doesn't give security popup for secure access.

    I have a RHEL platform in which tomcat is listening on 443 port.
    Scope of Problem:
    With the latest flash plugin, i am experiencing issue with Firefox on SSL port on Windows platform.
    i.e.
    Everythig works fine on non-SSL mode on Firefox, Chrome, IE on Windows 7.
    Everythig works fine on SSL mode on Chrome, IE on Windows 7
    Observations:
    In the Flash debug image(13.0.0.82), Firefox started showing us a popup indicating untrusted certificate  "This page requires a secure connection which includes server authentication. The Certificate Issuer for this site is untrusted or unknown. Do you wish to proceed ? "
    If we click "yes", then the complete functionality works fine.
    Any clues/pointers, why the above popup is not coming in non-debug Flash image?

    Flash Player takes the philosophy that we don't ask end-users questions that they're not qualified to answer.  The debugger will give you the prompt because it's intended for development environments.  In the release player, we're just going to fail unless the certificate is valid.
    For a production environment, you'll need to use a "real" SSL certificate, issued by a trusted CA.  If you're on an Intranet environment, Verisign sells dirt-cheap intranet-only SSL certificates.

  • Errror.printstacktrace()   in non debugger version of flash player

    Hi,
              i want to log the  run time errors occured  into data base . I am able to handle it by using try catch block.
    Using  errror.printstacktrace() method i am able to get the errror occured at the source with line no.
    Un fortunatley  errror.printstacktrace()  returns null in non debugger version.Its working only in debugger version of flash player.
    but in  production  environment we will have only non debugger version of flash player. Is any work around to  get the errror occured at the source with line no.(simillar to stack trace)
    I don't unserstand why we have to use non debugger version in production environment. Is any advantage of having non debugger version in production environment?
    Regards,
    Thiru

    Well, the non-debugger version is much faster, and, because it does not show the exception dialog it is more tolerant of run-time errors.  I don't know of any way to get more details without a debugger player.

    Overnight, the audio on my flash player stopped working. I am not sure when this happened or what caused it. The audio on non-flash items works just fine. I have tried all the troubleshooting solutions and none have fixed the problem. I even uninstalled and re-installed flash player. Flash player seems to be working correctly in all other aspects. I have tried other browsers, but the problem exists there, too. Have any ideas about what the problem could be? Thanks.

    Same problem here! Actually took me quite awhile to figure out what the hell was causing the slight screen flicker when going on Youtube, but I'm confirming this. With Hardware Acceleration enabled, Flash changes GPU Memory (VRAM) frequency and locks it so that it can't be changed until the video page is closed. Mine downshifts from 950 down to 500, which is quite of an achievment as for some reason this card with it's fancy schmancy GDDR5 memory isn't too keen on underclocking the VRAM..
