Non-US Citizen tax on US Paypal account

Hello,
I recently received an email from Paypal:We couldn't confirm the tax ID number you recently provided. Please help us by updating your tax ID number, and make sure that the name
listed on your PayPal profile is correct by clicking on the following link:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/helpscr?cmd=_profile-tin
Well the problem is that the link is only for US citizens, asking for three different numbers - Social security, TIN and employer number. I am not a US citizen, I am an Australian and have been with Paypal for 15 years. I have a US account and do business with Amazon. I visit US regularly but I am neither a resident nor a US citizn.
I have a business verified account and I supplied my Australian tax file number when I set up my Paypal account years ago. I think over the years I have verified this number at least twice but there is no provision to enter these details on Paypals' website now. Perhaps it has changed due to the split with Ebay?
Anyway, this is causing me an enormous amount of wasted time, as I have contacted Paypal several times by phone and email. Email responses I received had nothing to do with my question, suggesting I update my email address and phone numbers. In my second call yesterday to the special department that deals with this, the assistant told me to put my Australian tax file number in the ITIN box which I did, but got a message saying that it did not work or some such.
I told the telephone advisor this and he told me that it "went in on his end" and "it works" - suggesting that the problem was fixed. Today I received an email saying "The EIN number you have provided cannot currently be verified as being issued by the IRS", so I am going around in circles here. I also told him that I could see the last few digits of my Australian tax number under "EIN" - employer identity number - where it still is today.
Questions
1. Given the fact that I have already provided my Australian tax number and have been with Paypal for many years, do I even have to verify my tax number, as I pay my taxes in my own country?
2. Is there some Paypal weblink that allows people in my situation to enter my tax details? There is absolutely no information for foreign nationals anywhere that I can see, or in the IRS guidelines on Paypal's website.
3. Or do I have to update my tax status with IRS and get a TIN? There seems to be no clear information provided about this on Paypal's website.
I would appreciate any assistance with this as I have run into brick walls everywhere.
Thanks in advance!

You only need a SSN if you're purchasing a contract phone. Since you want an officially unlocked iPhone, no SSN will be required. However, I doubt you'll find the officially unlocked iPhones in any Apple brick/mortar store. AFAIK, stock has not reached the stores yet, and that phone is only available through Apple's online store.

  • Has anyone set up a Paypal account that is shared with another non-BC website or eBay shop

I am needing to set up Paypal on a 2nd site for 2 separate clients. Both new sites are on the BC platform using the standard Paypal options in eCommerce thus requiring me to set in the website preferences in Paypal the return url address.
My issue is that one of these clients has another website taking Paypal payments and the other client has an eBay shop paying through Paypal.
I am trying to understand how I can set up the BC sites payment gateway in view of the fact that we need to set the return URL address in the Payal preferences which of course is no good for the other sites sharing this same Paypal account.
Has anyone done anything similar and if so can you tell me how I should go about it preferebly without having to create an additional Paypal account.
BC support could not help out and advised contacting Paypal who were quick to tell me it is all in the email acocunt I use until I expalined we use the API setting a return URL. I am now searching for a practical solution.
    Many thanks.

In the paid partner form there was a reference to setting up the PayPal std gateway saying that the PayPal Customer Id must not only be the primary email on your Paypal accunt but it went further to state that this email accunt must be yru admin account email address of your website... This is the first time I have ever heard this. Is this really so.
In reference to my original question... does the email address we enter into PayPal Customer Id have to really be the primary or can you use one of the alternate email addesses becasue advice form PayPpal is just to provide one of the emails set up in Paypal.
    UPDATE 4 July:
After spending several hours on the Paypal customer service merry-go-round over 2 days I have been finally advised that becasue BC requires the Paypal preferences to set the return URL back to the BC website we can't share the Paypal account across multiple websites. Obviously paypal have not heard of the concept of profiles where you could set preferences against the 8 individual email accounts you are allowed to set up and use for otehr payment processing.
A word for the wise before you rush in to set up an additional Paypal business account - there are some rules you must follow:
Your Paypal accounts must be in different names (real names not the email address)
You can't use the same bank account or credit card across any 2 Paypal accounts
You can't share email addresses between Paypal accounts
Other than that - it's simple...
The above is the situation with Paypal standard business accounts - If anyone has better information please share

  • App Store for Non-US Citizens

    Hello,
I seem a bit lost here. After reading all the posts I am still not sure. What exactly is the process for a non-US citizen in order to sell apps at the App Store? I do not own a business just solely develop applications. I have an address in the US and I am able to open a bank account but I reside overseas. So my questions are...
    How does Apple issue payout's?
If they issue you checks, do you receive them in your country if you live abroad?
How does a non-US citizen declare payout's if they are received in the US? And do taxes have to be filed?
IF there is something I am missing here that could be helpful please let me know (ex. ITIN). Thanks!

You may find this a helpful starting point for your research.   Good luck.

  • Non deductible input tax

    Hi Gurus,
We have non-deductible input tax codes with the process NVV in our system. The process permit the distribution to relevant expense/revenue items.
We also need to have the value of the net amount and the non-deductible amount in the items but we don't find the way to implement it.
    Could anyone help us ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Chris.

    HI,
We use NVV with posting indicator filled with 3 because we need to have the non-deductible amount distibuted in the expenses items. But we need to see also the net amount.
In fact, what should be interesting for us wold be a tax code with the process NAV where the GL account is the expenses GL account.
    See an example below :
    Customer : 1196 Eu
    Expenses GL account 1000
    Expenses GL account 174,44
    VAT GL account 21,56

  • More than one form accessing a PayPal account

My plan is to have one Adobe Forms Central account. I would like to set up two different forms (one for registratants and one for Exhibitors) and have both of them access the same PayPal Standard Business account to use their credit cards. Is this possible?

Thank you, Randy, for the link. I read through the material and it is fairly straight forward. Another question has come up.
I work with a professional association that has several organizations (a State and a Regional) each with its own tax id and each of which sponsor continuing education seminars. One organization does a Spring Seminar (State), the other one does a fall Northwest Symposium (Regional).  Each organization will have its own PayPal Standard Business account, since each one has its own tax id.
    So the layout would be:
    1. Regional meeting for the Northwest Symposium. Uses the Regional group PayPal Standard Business Account.  This one would have a form for Exhibitors and a separate form for registrants.
    2. State meeting is the Spring Seminar. Uses the State group PayPal Standard Business Account (not the same as Regional). This one would have a form for registrants and possibly a separate form for sponsors.
I am considering setting up one Forms Central Plus account. It gives me the option of making muliple forms.  The question relates to this:
    1. For the Northwest Symposium I am planning to set up two forms that link to one PayPal account?   I understand from your answer that this would be no problem.
    2. With the same Forms Central Plus account, would I be able to set up another form (or two) and use the access to the second PayPal account? This would be the one for the Spring Seminar.  Because of PayPal's requirements, the second (State) PayPal account would have its own email address and password separate from the first (Regional) one.
It is possible that multiple forms would be active at the same time for both groups
Thank you for your help in getting this clarified and the questions answered.

  • How does non-US citizen use iTunesConnect to publish iBook?

I want to publish an iBook using the iTunesConnect service. But when signing up, it asks for my US Tax ID. As a non-US citizen, I obviously don't have one of these. Does this mean I can't use the service?
Is there a way around this problem?

This thread talks about how you get the ID required.

  • Deductible & Non deductible in tax codes

    Dear All,
Can anyone pls let me know the difference between 100% non deductible and deductible in tax codes setup.
    Regards,
    Rahul

100 % non deductable % means,Tax accounts are not hited but it will hit the inventory account i.e. will increase the iten cose.
other wise it will hit the tax account.
some times client want that their tax ammount will increase the item cost not their tax account.
thts why using Non deductble % 100
Ex: I had purchased a raw material of 1,00,000 and the tax @4% then my tax ammount is 4,000. But my client wants to show the inventory value as 1,04,000 but not as 1,00,000.
    Hope this will help you

    Hello MGW,
Thanks for answering, but I reckon you didn't get my point. I meant that I hope i can change the alias of the original Apple ID ( the alias is disabled ), I don't want to use this new alias of this new Apple ID with the new e-mail, becuz I applied a "new e-mail" for creating this one was only for looking for help in the forum ( I cannot post with my original ID )..
I know it's easy to create a new alias, a new apple ID, but I mean I would like to use only 1 account (the account of my main e-mail) in apple site. hope you can understand what i mean.

  • India Localization - How to Distribute Tax Amount between 2 Accounts

    Hi Please help me.
    I have a scenario:
My Client want to take 50% Tax amount to Tax Account and 50% Tax Amount to Expense Account in case of VAT/Excise Duty.
Example: Transaction Amount is 10000 INR TAX @10% (then tax amount would be 1000) when we calculate the tax 500 should hit Tax Account & 500 should hit Expense Account.
How to Implement this solutions please help me on this.
    Thanks
    Bharath

To distinguish between no submission and zero, have 2 keyfigures in your layout. One for Amount, the other for valid value.
If the user enters zero in amount, they have to put 1 in the keyfigure "valid value" to indicate zero is avalid value. Put this as a check while saving the data. Also, when the data is saved, automatically put a value of 1 in "valid value" keyfigure, for nonzero Amount. In otherwords , all valid amounts 0 and non zero have value 1 in the "valid value" keyfigure.
this way you can differenciate between 0 and null.
    Hope this helps

  • Used wrong payment method when paying with PayPal account!

Hello, Okay so I bought tickets on StubHub and when it asked me how I would like to pay, I checked my PayPal account. But it never said which payment method from PayPal it would charge. I have my PayPal Credit as my default payment method so I assumed it would have been my PayPal Credit account that gets charged. But now I see that a hugh amount was debited out of my bank. I wanted to use my PayPal Credit account to pay because it's such a hugh amount. My question is; can I transfer the payment to my PayPal Credit account and get the money credited back to my bank account? I would like to pay incrementally and I can't afford to give up such a hugh amount all at once. I'm afraid I'll have to cancel the payment if I can't do that. Please help!!! Thanks!

  • Can I open multiple Paypal accounts to accept payments for multiple businesses?

Hello, I plan on setting up two businesses that will use Paypal to accept payments. Can I set up two seperate Paypal accounts to accept payments for my two businesses?

You can have up to 8 bank accounts attached to your paypal account. So if you know how much you have earned per business you can withdraw that amount to one bank account and the rest to a different bank account. Hope that is what you meant. If not will check back later tonight or late tomorrow as got to work tomorrow during the day.     ***************************************** I give up my time to help you so a thank you or kudos would be cool.
Marking one of my replies as a solution would be appreciated if I sorted your problem.

  • Can I setup an Apple ID with only a Paypal account and NO credit card?

I recently purchased an iPhone and am looking forward to getting everything setup. I'm currently living in Japan and my japanese bank doesn't have a card that has the jcb logo, nor do I have a credit card. So...
Can I setup an Apple ID with only a Paypal account and NO credit card?

You can set up an apple Id without a credit card using this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534
After that, you can login at iTunes on a computer, go to 'Account' and just change the payment information to something else.
NB: where I live, the only three options for payment are creditcard, iTunes gift cards and Click&Buy, not Paypal. It might be possible elswhere though, I'm not sure.
    Good luck

  • Use Tax Posting To Tax Payable and Expense Account

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to post tax, code 03, to an expense account instead of the customer account at the time of billing. This is for use tax posting based on the costs of our materials and should be paid by company and not passed to the customer. Currently The percentages will base from the cost of material instead of sale price but this is posting to our tax payable account and to customer account as below:
    Dr Customer Account 1.27
           Cr Revenue -1.20
           Cr Use Tax Payable -.07
The desired outcome would be as below:
    Dr Customer Account 1.20
         Cr Revenue -1.20
         Cr Use Tax Payable -.07
    Dr Use Tax Expense .07
    Thanks in advance for help.

    Hi
    Welcome to SDN Forum
As you want to post to separate Tax payable and expense account ,so maintain a separate account key and assign it to the tax condition type in Pricing procedure .In VKOA assign the G/L accounts to that account key.So you have to take your FI Team members help to get the G/L accounts.and its assignment to the tax code.

You can buy it without a contract, but I think only directly at an Apple Store. And yes on the pricing. Be aware that the iPhone is in very short supply, and I'm not sure that they'll have a sufficient supply in late August. The San Francisco Store is very large, so you might be lucky. Or you can call to reserve one for when you're there (not sure you can do it).
    Good luck.

  • I can't link my Paypal Account to my iTunes Stores Account

I am attempting to connect my billing preference in the iTunes Store to my Paypal account. The process takes me to Paypal and then at the end is supposed to return me to the iTunes Store. After clicking on "Return to iTunes Store" the page "Returning to the iTunes Store...Please Wait" loads and then stops/hangs.

This is using Internet Explorer as my default browser. I normally use FireFox, but Firefox blocks the return to the iTunes Store, as well.
I've contacted both Paypal (no problems there with my account or their system) and Apple Support (they can't seem to figure this out -- appears to be either an OS or Browser problem to them.) I've also posted this with the Microsoft Solutions forum but their suggestions haven't worked. Nothing seems to work. I'm hoping you can help me resolve this issue. An iTunes technician is working on it apparently. He contacted me on 12/23/10 but I haven't heard back from him.
"My name is Jonathan and I have been assigned your case. I want to thank you for your continued patience while I work on your issue involving setting up PayPal on your account.
I hope to have a resolution for you very soon, hopefully within in a couple of days, and will be certain to notify you as soon as more information is available.
The iTunes Store is dedicated to creating a pleasant music-shopping alternative for music lovers of all walks of life. Your experience is very important to Apple. Thank you for giving Apple the opportunity to improve its services. Have a great day."
The browser appears to be blocking the return to the iTunes Store so I can finalize the payment change to Paypal. I've turned off the Windows firewall and my anti-virus. Did not make any difference.

I'm having exactly the same error, but on a Mac using Safari as de default browser....
When it goes back to iTunes I can only see the original page where I launched the paypal website from.... nothing happens and if I click continue the whole process starts again. I guess by now I must have created 30+ billing agreements...
