Non-XML slideshow with AS3?
Hello,
I am looking for a way to run a slideshow without using XML, but controlling the entire show with AS3. I have all of the resources and code to run a dynamic show, but I am attempting to build this on Oracle's Content Management System – Stellent. Stellent does not allow us to access our external XML files or external assets such as images, js, swf, etc.
The best way to go about building our slideshows for use with this CMS is to make them fully integrated in themselves. The downside, obviously is a larger filesize, but does anybody know how I would go about building this into itself, instead of externally?
I would like to keep all functionality of the XML (specifically the links and timer)
I would also like to keep the automatic button generation.
If anybody can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a file enclosing all of my working dynamic elements.

I am unable to load a zip file, but within the parent directory there should be an assets folder with an images folder inside.
there must be some way to use external data to feed applications or that wouldn't be much of a cms.
but if you want to keep all the data in swf, just hardcode all the data in your swf. actually, with as3, you can copy and paste the contents of an xml file into flash and assign it to an xml instance.

Can I route non-XML files with NW PI 7.0?
Hello,
I have NW 7.0 PI installed. I need to implement very simple scenario:
1. There are two folders Source and Target
2. Any file (non-XML, binary for example) comes to the Source folder
3. File needs to be picked up and routed without any modifications to the Target folder
Questions:
1. Can I implement that with NW? I guess I can
2. How do I do that? Is there any example or some description of implementing such a simple scenario (I have a few samples on how to implement complex scenarios that work with XML files, but I don't need that complexity)

I want to create a basic XML object in AS3, but don't know
how to do this.
I first tried creating a string that represented my XML
elements and their values, but then I don't know how to convert
this string into an XML object.
Secondly, I believe there are other ways of creating XML
objects in AS without doing anything with strings.
Can somebody please recommend to me a way to do this?

Xml slideshow with random PICTS and mx.transitions

I am building a web banner with a slideshow with random picts via xml,
but i want to use a iris transition to fade in while getting the pict, and fade out with the iris transition, the last action works but when getting i cannot get the transition to work below is a piece of the code:

Mikki65Good question. Not sure about iDVD. But I know for a fact I can use random transitions within DVDSP. However, if I'm not mistaken in iDVD I may be limited to the same transition within any given slideshow. I know it's possible to bring in an album into iDvd. And I know it's possible to use KB effects. But let me do some more searching for you because I forgot the exact procedure/s. I'll post back here later.

Creating AIR/Web Apps. with XML & E4X using AS3
Needing tips using AS3 with XML/E4X to make my project work over the server:
1) Here I'm having trouble trying to create a component with a 'GOOGLE MAP' with the user being able to input their location for directions with once submitting the get directions button that it generates the directions in the datagrid automatically.
2) Including a 'DATAGRID' for customers to be able to retain their info in a datagrid that has been updated by office personnel from an 'AIR APPLICATION' with a XML file that holds the customers info

please note that we found the problem. The problem was that we didn't configure under:
"Configuration-> Security -> Message Security -> SOAP" the voprrect provider to handle the security.
After that was done (extract of domain.xml) the message was understood.

Can it even be set to do this?
The only code in the style.xml that looks like it might be realted is line 12 <playOptions playMode="pause"/>, changing that to "play" does nothing.

Using Non-destructive filter with Nested XML data
Hi,
How do you use Non-destructive filter with Nested XML data?
I am using the non-destructive filter sample with my own xml which is setup to search for the <smc></smcs> in my xml below. But when i test it it only searches the last row of the "smc". How can i make it work so it can search for repeating nodes? or does it have something to with how my xml is setup?

thank you!I apologize, im using Spry XML Data Set. i guess the best way to describe what im trying to do is, i want to use the Non-desctructive filter sample with the Spry Nested XML Data sample. So with my sample xml on my first post and with the same code non-destructive filter is using, im having trouble trying to search repeating nodes, for some reason it only searches the last node of the repeating nodes. Does that make sense? let me know.

Sharing slideshows with non Apple users
Can anyone suggest the best way to share slideshows with non Apple family and friends?
Are you asking about the file format for non-Apple PC's or the best way to physically share the slideshow file or are you asking about sharing with people that don;t have a computer at all?
Once you create the slide show in Aperture you will need to export it. You can pick a number of formats and uses during export. The easiest way would be to export for YouTube. Once the export is finished you can upload the file to YouTube and give all your friends and family the URL to play it.
If you want to deliver a file depending on the software they have on the PC you could use the .mov file format. This requires Quick Time to play it but there is a free Quick Time player for windows available from Apple.
If you want to create a DVD to play on a standard DVD player you will need to get a hold of DVD aurhoring software. Apple use to include the software with iLife but stopped doing that a while back. If you're looking to make a video DVD post back.

Can we use XML Publisher with non oracle databases like Postgres ,mySQL etc.Hi
Not sure if you're talking Apps or non but you can do it equally with both. Check out the Data Engine in the user guide and look for Distributed Queries. XMLP will need a jdbc connection to the db but you can then pass a query and get XML back.
You can even write one query to pull back say customers from Oracle and their invoices from MySQL, you'll get a merged data set back with a master detail relationship btw customers-invoices

Copy, Move, or XML import drops non 1080p clips with no warning
What are the limitations on moving, copying, or exporting/importing XML?
It seems that FCPX dropped all my clips that are not 1080p. And to make matters worse, FCPX went through the motions like it was moving/importing, but ignored the clips that were not 1080p and gave me no warning. So I worked on the project for 2 days only to discover that part of the clips were missing.
Has anyone else found this problem or do I have a configuration problem.
I have some Gopro video and timelapse that are large frame sizes, 2.7k and whatever the medium timelapse stills were set to. These are the problems.
This seems to work with XML on the same computer, but when moving to a second computer is were the problem comes in. The move/copy either events or clips dropped all my odd sized video clips, even on the same computer. Again no warning.
You can import the original clips but not copy, move, or export/import XML to another computer. I thought XML export was the recommended way of working in a distributed enviornment with FCPX 10.1?
Configuration:
2 computers
both OSX 10.9.2
both FCPX 10.1.1
all media is external to the libraray, so it needs to be re-linked when moved.
It does appear that if I copy the library to the other computer that everything is OK, but not with XML.
Should export/import XML work with non-standard frame sizes? It would seem that if you can import the original clip, that you should be able to copy, move, export/import XML.

My problem is not the media, but clip instances. I have the media on both computers. For some reason the unlinked images are not loading accept for the 1080p. When the clips show up, I can re-link them without problems.
I re-ran the XML import/export between computers, doing a complete round trip. This time it worked! I apparently am having a repeatability probelm, so I have some more work to do.
However when I did a Copy event to Library command, only the 1080p clips appeared.
Any suggestions on how to make this more repeatable? Like emptying a cache or something.
BTW the clips that were dropped are 2704x1524 - would that make any difference?

Flash xml slideshow in iWeb not working

I am really struggling to get a Flash xml slideshow to work. I have used Flash Slideshow Maker app, which creates a slide.xml, .swf and .html file and everything is published in one folder "slideshow" on a local disk.

Xml slideshow playback controls issue
Hi, I'm trying to create a picture slideshow which can be controled by the user with play / stop / next buttons. I've managed to program the play / stop events with success, but I'm stuck trying to create the next button event since it doesn´t work properly. The first time I hit the next button it takes me to the same picture that has been currently loaded, the second time I hit the next button it works as expected, takes me to the next image.

Spry Image Slideshow with Filmstrip- Filmstip thumbs loading incorrectly
Hello, I am hoping someone will be able to help me. I loaded the Widget for the Spry Image Slideshow with Filmstrip. After reading several tutorials as that the product did not work correctly, I finally got the corrupted .js fixed (thanks Accustic Gramps for all your posts very helpful when going through looking). First page looks great, now, I put the slideshow on another page and loaded it, but the filmstrip is now loading off placement so the thumbs are all messed up.

Non XML attachment to XML in sender mail adapter

I am working with sender mail adapter and usng payloadswapbean. My attachment is non XML and I need to convert it in to XML in order to mapping. How can I do that? Can someone explain if can I use MessageTransformBean for this purpose and if so, how?
Or any other method for doing this?

RakeshIs the attachment in text format? If yes, then after the usage of PayloadSwapBean, you may try using MessageTransformBean in the same module chain. And you will be able to convert it into xml format.
