Hi,
NoSuchMethodError typically occurs when SQL Developer is not unzipped into an empty directory, as in the following:
java error when connecting with new sql developer 3.1
Otherwise it might occur in an early adopter release (but 3.2.20.09.87 is full production), or some other edge case where the missing method is in some other product upon which are dependent and your environment does not have it -- either missing entirely or the wrong version installed.

  • BIB-10310 error when trying open worksheet in viewer.

    Hi all,
    Viewer 10g
I have a user who can see a report in viewer, clicks + sign to expand the 2 worksheet names beneath it and whe she click on either gets a
    bib-10310 error with textas below
Unable to open the worksheet requested.
Oracle BI Discoverer was unable to find the worksheet requested.
    BIB-10310 an unknown exception occurred.
It opens fine for me in viewer, plus and desktop.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    dw

    Hi,
You need to look in the Discoverer application.log on the apps server to see the detail of the error. But could it be that the user does not have access to all the items in the workbook? So the workbook has been shared with the user but the user does not have BA security to access all the business areas and folders referenced by the workbook.

  • Unable to open worksheet requested

    Hi
For some users, while opening a worksheet from Viewer, it says
"Unable to open the worksheet requested.
    - OracleBI Discoverer was unable to find the worksheet that was requested.
    - BIB- 10310 An unknown exception occured.
    - Invalid function attempt to open workbook failed. "
But it is opening from the Admin user. The Report is shared to the user. And also the user is granted with all the Business area. Please help.

    Hi
Please don't open multiple threads with the same question. Its hard to follow.
It sounds like you may have created a function in the database and not granted execute access over it to the end users. Take a look at your user-defined functions and add this grant:
GRANT EXECUTE ON function_name TO PUBLIC
    Best wishes

  • Change database connection in SQL-Worksheet to a not connected db

    Hi,
change the active database connection of a SQL-Worksheet to a currently not connected database does not work. The login window pops up, but the password entry field cannot be activated to enter the password. On dragging the login window the screen does not get refreshed correctly. The only way to get back to work is to kill the sqldeveloper.exe process.
The affected version is 3.2.09.23 on the 32 bit MS Windows plattform.
    sincerely yours
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
Thanks for reporting this. It is caused by a deadlock between Java threads. I will log a bug for it.

    - Closing all possible applications except for SQL Developer
    - Rebooting and running only SQL Developer
    - Ensuring SQL Developer is running using the included Java SDK
I'm unsure of what to do next - In the past, I've been able to open 200-300mb SQL files without any issue, but since I've updated to SQL Developer 3 I'm suddenly experiencing these crashes.

You are running out of memory. In the stack notice this line:
Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Edit the sqldeveloper.conf file and add this
    AddVMOption -Xmx1024M
That will bump it up some.

I'm not sure which version of LabVIEW you are using, nor what some of the VIs are in your code.  However, if you have a recent version of LabVIEW (say 2012 or later) and have access to the Report Generation Toolkit, you will have a much easier time working with Excel.
In January of this year, I posted an Example to replace the Excel example that ships with LabVIEW.  However, I'm not very good at finding my own posts on this forum, so I can't easily point you to it.  However, if you do use the Report Generation Toolkit and do not use ActiveX calls, you will find that the functions to open and close Excel Reports tend to work without significant problems (there is a glitch, that I've reported, whereby if you "manually" close the Excel Workbook and then try to close it with the Report Generation's "Save Workbook", it will actually delete the manually-saved Workbook for you)(there is a "work-around" until NI fixes this ...).

  • EA3:  Open .sql file in current connection?

I just upgraded from SQL Developer 1.2 to 1.5 EA3 and love the new Files tab in the navigator since I have tons of .sql files out on my local hard drive.
The only inconvenience I have opening and running one of these SQL statements is that I must reselect which connection to use for each file that is opened. I have over 50 database/user connection combinations so searching down through that drop-down list gets old fast. Most of the time I'm already going to have a database connection open and want the opened file to share that active connection.
I think either: 1) dragging the file from the navigator to an open worksheet with a connection, or 2) right-clicking on the file in the navigator and having an additional menu option "Open with current connection" would be a good way the do this.
Can I do this somehow in 1.5 EA3 or do I need to open a feature request?

This was planned for this version, but it seems to have fallen out. FWIW, you can still vote on http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:8861959326134540::NO::P39_ID:4402

  • 4.0 EA2 - Previously Open Files Not Opening on Start

Just started using 4.0 EA2 from 4.0 EA1.  Thanks!  Noticed is much faster than EA1!
I have noticed that previously opened files no longer are being opened when starting SQLDeveloper.  Prior to EA2, any files that were open when SQLDeveloper is closed were opened then next time SQLDeveloper started.  Is there a setting I am missing that governs this behavior?
    Thanks!

True but I think that the disk image mounter is not working so I'm not getting the option to drag anything anywhere. How do I repair the disk image mounter?
    Just tried after reading on a www forum;
    Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
Click on "Macintosh HD in the left column and then press the "Repair Disk Permissions button. I don't think this step was part of the solution to my problem.
    Delete the file called /System/Library/Extension.kextcache
    Delete the folder called /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernalcaches/
    Restart
But the deleted files just re apear after start up and the issue continues.
There is no issue with the hard drive, also just booted to Disk Utility again and done a volume repair, no problems there. Grrrrrrrrrrr

  • Save layout of queries in SQL Developer query builder?

Sometimes queries are very complex and moving tables around in the graphical view is really helpfull to better understand them.
Unfortunately this layout does not get saved with "save" (because this is a simple text file).
Once upon there was a query builder (included with designer 2000 and later vom 1991 to 1998) that had a proprietary format (.brw) to just do that: Save a query including layout.
Any chance to save the layout of SQL Developer query builder queries?

I dont think there is any way to save the layout for the query, you can request an enhancement on the Exchange for this http://sqldeveloper.oracle.com/
But if you only need to restore the query you are working with later, or move it to another workstation and continue editing using the query builder, you only need the SQL code generated; when you paste it in an opened worksheet (on the same database or even a clone with the same structure) the query builder is able to resume working just fine with default positioning for the table objects.
If you hand edit the query and insert some SQL manually then the query builder may stop working for particularly complex statements, in this case it will warn you and disable itself.

  • Dbms_output - Am I doing it wrong?

Hi, relatively novice pl/sql user here.
    SQL Developer 1.5.1
    WinXp
    Oracle 10.2.0.2, on AIX 5.3.3
When I have multiple files open in sqlDeveloper and serveroutput = on in several different tabs, occasionally I get the dbms_output being sent to a tab different to the one I ran the sql from.
You can imagine the "wtf" factor.
Using dbms_output mostly for debugging purposes, is there something I'm missing about how to use dbms_output, or is there a better way to output values from various parts of a script/program for debugging purposes?
    Thanks.
    Josh.

Well whenever I used a worksheet to do simple anonymous blocks, I always use the set serveroutput on at the top of the worksheet and it always seems to go back to the tab in which I called it from; I've never seen this issue using that. Although I did notice an issue with the Enable DBMS Output button back in 1.2.1 and been doing the declaration of serveroutput manually ever since. Maybe that could help you?
    set serveroutput on
    declare
    var1 number(5);
    begin
    var1 := 15;
    dbms_output.put_line(var1);
    end;-Tim

  • Excel will not close using activeX

I have been reading a ton of the responses on the forums regarding this issue and I seem to have everything correct (obviously not since I cant get it to work).  I cant find the reference that is causing excel.exe to remain in memory after I run the vi.
I have used the highlight execution and there are no errors passed through anywhere, so it is going through all the closes and the application quit.
Can someone see if I made a mistake somewhere.
Here is a description of the open and closes:
    Open Application ref
    Open workboos
    open _workbook
    Close Workbooks
    Open Worksheet
    open range
    open rows
    open columns
    close columns

    Hello Kenny,
It looks like you have definately closed all of the references and used the quit method.  However, you normally need to close references in the reverse order that you close them.  You seem to close a reference to the workbooks before closing the reference to more specific parts of the spread sheet.  Try moving the close reference to be in the correct order.  This knowledgebase has a small example to start testing.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/D9B5637D23FD98D2862570A100638EF3?OpenDocument
Also make sure that you call the methods that will explicitely close the workbooks and worksheets.

  • SD4.0 ea3  Drag and Drop files into editor

    I'm on Win7 using SQL Dev 4 - EA3.
In previous versions, I was able to drag files from windows explorer or the desktop into the SQL Dev edit window. This seems to be disabled now.
I noticed a previous thread that mentioned this was fixed in EA2. I'm on EA3 and still can't get it to work.

    Mr Smith,
I've tried dragging it to the application, to another open worksheet, etc... "anywhere".  It still doesn't work.
I'm not a complete moron, even though I had that typo in my 1st post.
To double check, one of my co-workers even downloaded the EA3 (same configuration as mine) -- he can't get it to work either.
There's got to be a bug somewhere or some setting/configuration that this depends on.
I've used your SQL-Dev product for quite some time & have never had this issue before. Some change in the product is now conflicting with our environment somehow.

    2. From the Smart View menu, select Options, then Advanced, and ensure that Improved Metadata Storage is
    selected.
    3. Use Excel to copy a worksheet. This operation copies the visible contents of the source worksheet but not the
metadata (connection information, POV selections, alias tables and the like) to the destination worksheet.
    4. With the destination worksheet active, from the Smart View menu, select More, then Import Metadata to
display a list of all open workbooks and their corresponding open worksheets.
    5. From the list, select the worksheet that contains the metadata that you want to import to the destination
    worksheet.
    6. Click OK. You will be asked to confirm your selection.
    7. Refresh.
Help in solving this issue is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kamal

I don't know what back end you are connecting to, but when I follow the steps you outlined with Essbase's Good Old Sample.Basic, it works just fine -- the members that were selected in the POV are migrated across.
This is on Excel 2007 with Essbase 11.1.2.0.
