Not over black

I am building a movie for my friends little girl on her naming day, being a little girl is there a way I can get the titles to run over a color, as the black is not very girly. Maybe a white background with red writing .................any ideas

I will give it a go,however I have since found out that you can turn down the contrast and various other sliders to get a sort of white.I am having problems putting some intro credits on this screen...........but thanks for the tips

    What gives?

I had a similar problem, and i found that the photo was of very low resoluton. As a test I resized the image to a lrager resolution using photoshop CS4 and re saved it as JPG. I imported the new saved image and it seem to have fixed the problem.

  • HP printer 5510 not printing black ink after new cartridges installed

having an issue with the black ink not printing at all..Brand new HP cartridges.  cleaned screen with hot water  vent is open

    Hi 6043kmb,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5510, you are unable to print in black ink after replacing the cartridge.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker
I hope to hear from you soon.

  • Title (Music Video) still renders "over black" when unselected

Hello I have an MPEG-4 video of about 5 minutes length in wide screen ratio. I am trying to add a Music Video type title to the beginning of the video. I want it to overlay and not do it over black. I uncheck and the preview shows it as it should as an overlay. But when I render it and play it back, it is rendered as over-black!
Until I unmuxed the audio as a separate track the audio for the title part would not play until after the title sequence was complete.
Is it something to do with the fact that I'm running 10.5.1? Or is it my source video that is not compatible with the adding of the title?
This is extremely urgent that I get this to work, so please help me!!!!!

  • Laserjet 2600n not printing black on one side of page. already cleaned the laser/scanner assembly.

laserjet 2600n not printing black on one side of page. already cleaned the laser/scanner assembly. i've cleaned the assembly a few times beofre to restor the colors as the printer is in a semi-dusti environment.  after cleaning the printer was fine, then about a week later, the black - and only the black - stopped printing on the right side of the page.  the text is straight across left to right then starts to waver and then then stops altogether.  i tried a different black toner cartidge and the problem remains.

    > so this is strictly a hardware issue as no drivers are involved. Yup. > Still prints all black.   Ok its not the controller. > Still prints all black.   Ok its not the fuser. >  its still prints all black. OK its not the laser itself > it still prints all black. Not that part either. > What else left is there?  Formatter board hasnt been mentioned.  Something is sending a command to the printer that is telling it to open up the doors and charge the entire page.  Normally the laser is responsible for charging the media.  As the media passes over the toner doors it atracts toner particles.  Then as the paper continues it rolls past the fuser where heat melts the particles into permanent place. > The power supply board maybe?   Perhaps but not likely.  If you have a spare you could try it but power supply problems usually result with the machine unable to boot or print correctly, not printing too much as you have described here. > Is there another part you would reccomend I look at?
You could try the old Halfway test just to verify that the problem is coming from teh laser/toner part of the printer.  http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/halfway-test Your paper may have somehow gotten a staic charge that opposes the charge of the toner, thus auto attracting all particles in range as it passes over the toner doors.  Might want to grab a fresh ream of paper to test and rule somethign crazy like that out. Not very many options left after that.

    Hello,
Not printing black in.  Cartridge is installed correctly.  I went through the document that was post "black in not printing" (e.g. cartridge is not clogged, orange cap is off, etc.).  I've cleaned printer heads 4 times.  I've reinstalled drivers.  Nothing.

  • Photosmart 5520 not printing black

As with many others here, my HP Photosmart 5520 is not printing in black.  Have gone through all the HP troubleshooting, as well as the steps on the forums, short of disassembling and removing the print head.
Replaced the print cartridge twice with genuine HP 564 and HP 564XL, checked the cartridge vents, and have run the clean printer head clean utilities 10x, including turning off, waiting several hours, and going through the process again.    It still won't print black, and the print quality diagnostic "black" box is completely blank, or has a few faint gray lines.
Printer warranty expired 1/2014.  Was a HP customer for life, but now am very frustrated.  This is the second HP printer in a row that has failed soon after the warranty expired, and with the exact same problem.  My printer's info is below.  I am in Beaverton, Oregon, USA
The following information was returned for your product

  • Subtitle insists on being "over black"

I am attempting to add a subtitle to a movie clip in iMovie HD (6.0.3). The movie consists of just one short (5 sec) clip. I make an even shorter (4 sec) subtitle, "over black" is not selected, and preview looks great with text over video.
When I attempt to add the subtitle before the clip (by dragging "Subtitle" from the title menu) the clip does the little slide to the right, the title is added... But now the first part of the clip is gone, replaced by the subtitle over a black screen.
When I attempt to add the subtitle by clicking the "Add" button on the Titles menu, the same thing happens.
If it is relevant, this is at the very beginning of my movie. (Obviously, since the movie is just one clip, and I am adding the title before that clip.)
Any ideas how to fix this?

Deleting the preferences files ( ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie* ) seems to have fixed this problem.

  • Titles *Always* Over Black

Well, it's been a while since I've had to use iMovie, and while I've had great experiences with it in the past, right now, it's got me frustrated.
No matter what title I use, what settings I try to apply, my titles always appear in my project as 'Over Black'.
That is to say, when I attempt to place a title overlaying the video, it completely blacks out any video and audio for the duration of the title (it doesn't even shift the video, it just eliminates it).
On the suggestion from a similar thread, I removed all Quicktime plug-ins and re-attempted. No beans. I tried trashing my .plist files and gave it another go. No beans. I've tried applying over black and updating with it unchecked - no beans. I've gone as far as applying it, updating it to 'over black' and updating it back again - nothing.
    Nada.
Any suggestions out there? Any way to downgrade from 6.0.3 to 6.0.2? I didn't have this issue before...
    Thanks!
p.s. - this is with all title types and all fonts that I have tried...
    eMac 1.0, 768, 160 gig, AE   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iMovie 6.0.3
    eMac 1.0

As mentioned in my first post, of course I tried unchecking the 'over black' box.
    Further updates for the night:
The movie I'm trying to work on is actually a slideshow movie exported from iPhoto - with audio.
When I export the slideshow without audio, it works just fine, and I can add the titles properly (i.e., not always over black). That would be all good and fine, but to fit the pictures to the music, I need them to fade every 4.75 seconds (or so), and iPhoto will only let me round to whole numbers.
I've been trying different audio formats for the song to see if there's some issue there... but haven't come up with anything yet.

  • Title Problem - Always Over Black

I'm trying to add a title to a clip I exported from iPhoto. I've unchecked the Over Black box and dragged it onto the clip time line. As it renders, the little image shows it being rendered correctly - over the top of the video.
However, when it's finished rendering it's always over black. Instead of being displayed over the video, it seems to overwrite the video as well, as the clip it's supposed to be showing over starts playing again half way through the clip after the title has vanished.
What's going on? And how do I get it to show over the video clip?
I need this video for tomorrow evening, so any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Hi Sue, (and baker.. Sue asked me to join..)
just made a quick'n dirty test... and indeed, my assumption confirmed:
a project 'mpeg4' does NOT allow a title over video, same project as 'dv' works smooth as silk...
iPhoto slideshows are exported, for reasons nobody knows except one, two programmers at Apple, only in 'mpeg4' format..
when you drag'n drop the exported slideshow into a 'dv' project, iM/QT has to convert quite a while, but then iM offers all features...
    summary:
no titles over pic in 'mpeg4' projects ..
(okay, iM is mainly meant as DV-editor... )

This T400 is 2 yrs old. It starts to shut down itself without any warning. I thought it's over heated, but all temp. monitor programs find it's not over heated. I can turn it on right after it shuts down.
I also reinstalled the whole thing to facotry setting. But it still shuts down without warning.
PLease help me figure this out. It's just out of warranty!

Does it shutdown after doing something in particular or is random?

  • Art Brushes appear grey, and not Rich Black.

Art brushes are showing a grey version of what should be a Rich Black RGB 0, 0, 0,. Furthermore, expanding the art brush stroke and sampling the color shows the strokes "Black" is actually: 32,32,32, pre-expansion the RGB sample shows the stroke is 0,0,0.

    Try this.
Use one of the Chalk and Charcoal brushes, like Charcoal - Feather.
Set the colorization method to NONE.
Make a mark. Take a sample reading with the Eyedropper tool. The RGB value will be, 32,32,32 (or some place around there) but defiantly not 0,0,0.
Now EXPAND the stroke and take a reading of the shapes color. Same values.
    It is NOT RICH BLACK.

No solution. Power cycled several times, power cycled computers, modem, router, performed all recommended cleanings, changed all ink cartridges, checked it over several days - no go. Then, suddenly, after weeks, it started printing again. That's one hell of a gremlin. Throughout all of this time, my inexpensive Canon printer never faltered.

  • Font over black BG fix?

    Hi
Been trying to get this font (Trajon Pro bold) to look decent, see link - http://web.me.com/kbcv/VideoWork/test.html
How can I get this to look professional? My timeline is Apple Pro Res, text is from LiveType no movement, static, I then export to QT, same settings as my FCP 6 timeline, then take that QT file into Compressor, make it a mpeg 2 for DVD as you'll see my Compressor settings on link.
I know the font is slightly thin, but it looks acceptable over video, just not black BG...how can I make this work? I took drop shadow off over black, doesn't seem to make a diff either way...
    Thanks
    K

In LiveType, go to: Edit > Project Properties > Quality. What setting are you using for "Movie Render"?
Make sure it is on Normal and not Draft.
The dark blue type on black may also be causing problems, just for fun, try white text (about 90-95% luminance) on a short segment.
Look in LiveType's Inspector > Attributes. Is the Offset value on the y axis set to a whole number?
If it is and still causes problems, try adjusting by 1 pixel up or down.
Generally, you should avoid delicate Serif typefaces in video.

Help please.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/CP1518ni-not-printing-black-and-white-only/td-p/1494733

Hi , I read your post and see that the magenta cartridge started making sounds as a defective cartridge,  you replaced it with the black cartridge and it was rejected. You are using over ride and still can't print. I would like to help you.
You have to replace the cartridges for the marked cartridges in the printer.Over ride will allow you to continue printing until one of the toners are completely empty & then will have to be replaced to continue printing. Basically this setting is for you to finish the print job. You will have to replace the magenta cartridge in order to resume printing. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.
