Not Possible Create Database Connection to Essbase From Web Analysis Studio

Hello
It is not possible to create a database connection to Essbase cluster from Web Analysis (WA) Studio. The following error message is displayed:
"Unable to retrieve the list of available databases"
And the detail:
[1033] Native: 1003 Error: Create connection failed [For input string:
[ApsServer=, OlapServer=[HOST];]]
Foundation Services, Agent, Financial Reporting and Web Analysis are enabled.
As additional information from EAS can seamlessly connect to Essbase server.
The EPM version is 11.1.2.2
Please help. thanks
regards
Rodrigo

Hi ,
For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .

  • Failed to connect SQL Server from Web Analysis

    Hi,
    I am not able to connect RDBMS-SQL Server 2000 SP3 from Web Analysis 9.3. I have installed JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000 also. Also defined CLASSPATH environmental variable for MSSQLSERVER.jar file. I am creating JDBC drive as: -
    Driver Type: Microsoft SQL Server
    Database Connection String:
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://CNOIA258:1433;DatabaseName=biplus;SelectMethod=cursor
    JDBC User: biplus
    JDBC: biplus
    I am getting error "Getting Connection Failed"
    Please suggest any solution to resolve this issue.
    Regards.
    Atul K

    Hi Atul
    I think you need to amend the standard strings as follows:
    hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc:hyperion:sqlserver://CNOIA258:1433;DatabaseName=biplus;SelectMethod=cursor
    This has always worked for me, hope this helps

  • Crystal Report Viewer Not Releasing Oracle Database Connections

    I have a very simple vb.net 3.5 web application that uses the Crystal Report viewer 2008 to open a report. My requirements are as follows:
    1. Reports are built by another company and provided to us and used in a web environment
    2. All reports contain parameter fields
    3. The web application must be generic enough that a report can be added to a list and the user simply selects the report and provides database login information. The Crystal report viewer with handle the request for parameter values and prompt the user for their values.
    4. All reports connect to an Oracle 10g server.
    The above requirements have been meet and we have an extremely simple web application that runs the reports. It is working very well other than the crystal report viewer is not releasing the database connections. This is bad because the credentials are on a per user basis and that same user must login to a different oracle application simultaneously. They are being denied access because the credentials are already in use. We do not have control nor influence over the policies in use on the Oracle server. Ideally we would like to control the Crystal Report viewer so that it closes connections after use.
    The web application code is:
    Private Sub viewReports_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
    If Not IsPostBack Then
    ConfigureCrystalReport()
    End If
    End Sub
    Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReport()
    'Load the Crystal Report viewer with a report.
    Try
    Dim reportPath As String = Server.MapPath(Session("reportname"))
    crViewer.ReportSource = reportPath
    Catch ex As Exception
    Response.Write(Server.MapPath(Session("reportname")) & "
    " & ex.Message.ToString & "
    " & ex.StackTrace.ToString)
    End Try
    End Sub
    Can anyone shed some light on this topic? Thank you

    Hello, Timothy;
    By default, having the report in session will hold it open for 20 minutes.
    If you create the report as a ReportDocument object you can take it out of session and release it more efficiently. That will release the connection.
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            If (Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") Is Nothing) Then
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = New ReportDocument()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Load(Server.MapPath("Hierarchical Grouping.rpt"))
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") = hierarchicalGroupingReport
            Else
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = CType(Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport"), ReportDocument)
            End If
            myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = hierarchicalGroupingReport
        End Sub
    In the Form Unload of the Viewer:
                'Take the report out of session
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport")  = Nothing
                Session.Contents.Remove("hierarchicalGroupingReport")
                'Clean up the ReportDocument object
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Close
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Dispose()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = Nothing
                GC.Collect()

  • XML-25004: Could not acquire a database connection named: gksconnection

    HI Gentlemen,
    I am trying to build up an XSQL page with a query against an XMLTYPE table, to display the contents using a stylesheet. I have set up an IDE connection, the test was successful. Now I would like to start the page just to see if it works altogether. Now without a stylesheet, only that the page executes. And I am constantly running into
    XML-25004: Could not acquire a database connection named: gksconnection
    I entered the connection in the XSQLConfig file by manual editing--it did not help. Well, there is some stuff in the forum about setting some preferences for OC4J, but in my version of JDeveloper only Weblogic Server is available. So I am prevented from clearing the cause of the problem.
    My JDeveloper is a Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.3.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660.
    Please help me if you can.
    Many thanks in advance,

  • Create database connection

    I try to create database connection in jdeveloper.
    I have error message;
    Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor
    The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
    10.41.119.12:1620:TEST
    I did connect with database before. but I try to create connection with database today.
    I cannot. what problem is it?
    what am i goint to do?

    Hi,
    Maybe your connecting directly after the listener starts, wait a while then try to connect again, if this problem still occurs, check the SID of your Connection settings, it maybe incorrect.

  • Error connecting to Essbase from Analyzer 7.0

    Hi,We have just installed Analyzer 7.0.1 with Essbase 6.5.5. on Windows 2003 servers. Everything seem to be working fine except when I try to define a new Essbase connection in Administrator Tools, I get this error."[1033]Native:2001 Essbase Error;nested exception is:com.hyperion.apAPException:[1033]Native:2001 Essbase Error"I'm able to connect to Essbase from Excel-Addin, no problem.Any ideas?Thanks for your help.Peter

    I would try installing the Essbase 6.5.4.2 runtime on your Analyzer server. If this is the same server as Essbase don't worry as it shouldn't effect the operation of the server process. This certainly worked with Analyzer 7.0 and 6.5.1.Hope this helps.Paul Armitagewww.analitica.co.uk

  • TP4: Can't create database connection

    I have just installed JDeveloper TP4 and run it for the first time. When I try to create database connection, nothing happens. Specifically, I right click on "IDE Connections" and select "New Connection" - and nothing happens; no messages, no dialogs, nothing. Is there something I have to have installed before this will work? I have Sun's Java 6 installed - I noticed that JDeveloper warns about this. Would it cause this problem?

    Hi,
    can you try with JDK 5 to exlude and issue with JDK 6. It works for me with JDK 5 so, there might be an issue with you Java runtime

  • Freeform Grid Formulas Update in Web Analysis Studio but not in Workspace

    I have created a Web Analysis document that contains a freeform grid. The grid has only one data object, which is built on an Essbase data source. The freeform grid contains calculations that I have input. While working in the Web Analysis studio, I can change the subscription controls that modify the values in the freeform grid and my formulas update correctly. However, when I view the document in the Workspace, the formulas do not update when I use the subscription controls to select different members. Has anyone had a similar problem? And if so, how did you solve it?

    Hello,
    We have 9.3.1 installed, with Workspace and Shared Service on "Server A" and Essbase/Planning on "Server B" (Only Essbase is being turned on at this time)
    We are trying to setup a database connection from the Workspace to connect to Essbase for Financial Reporting to use. However, we got error message as follows:

    I've seen this issue several times.
    Run FR independently and see if you are still able to connect.
    First make sure essbase is running. Try sample connection using maxl.
    Check if ports are open.

  • Not able to estabish connection with SQLServer2005 from the Topology Manage

    I have installed Oracle Data Integrator 10.1.3.4.0 and and Microsoft Sqlserver 2005 Management Studio Express in my windows system and created repository in Oracle Database 11g. I have also downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver Version 1.0 and placed the jar file in the <odi_home>/drivers Folder.
    I have to do a migration POC from Oracle DB 8i to Sqlserver(2005 express Edition) using ODI. In the Topology manager ,in the Physical Architecture
    I give the connections details : UserName :sa Password:sa that is the user of Sqlserver.
    Now in the JDBC Properties i give under jdbc Driver
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    and jdbc URL
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1084
    The jdbc driver is not listed in the dropdown. I hardcode with com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver which i found in ODI discussion forum.
    But I am getting the error ava.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getDriver(Unknown Source)
    Can anybody point me where I would be going wrong or is there any extra configuration I have to do.

    Hi Again,
    I have followed whatever you all have suggested. But could not succeed. Then I decided to use SQLServer 2000 express edition. Installed this in SQL authentication mode and I am able to connect from the management studio with the user sa and also from the command prompt. But again from ODI in the Topology manager I am facing the same problem.
    Now I select the default driver for sqlserver 2000 ie driver:com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    and URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1433
    or jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.177.62.148:1433;SelectMethod=cursor
    gives me error javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(Unknown Source)
    and unknown source at many places.
    I am using ODI 10.1.3.4 . Has anyone tested with the new release?

  • How to create database connection and how to call it using Java

    Hi,
    Good day! I'd like to know how I can create a db connection in JDev, then use this connection to retrieve data using a Java Class? I've seen using New Gallery > Database Connection. But I'm not sure how I can access this connection using Java and display some output from the retrieved records.
    Any steps/tutorial link is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    If you need to access the connection in the entity object then refer http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/bcadvgen.htm#BABEIFAI i.e in MODEL.
    But if you want to access connection in ViewController part of application then you need to do it manually.For this i am giving you my code for reference.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    if the applet runs locally, and you want to connect to your DB locally with the applet, it won't work (except if you adjust the security settings of your browser, maybe). That's because applets don't have access to the computer they're running on (except some information), since that would mean that any applet could just access your computer, so, it's not possible for security purposes.
    On the other hand, they don't have to right to connect to anything, except the server they're downloaded from ( so the webserver's ip).
    But I'm not sure about connecting to a DB through JDBC that way.

  • WBS Elements not getting created in ECC Project System from CRM 7.0

    Dear all,
    We are trying to integrate SAP CRM 7.0 with SAP ECC-PS module. The objective is to bring in the marketing plan and elements data from the CRM system, and to create the corresponding WBS in project system. We have done most of the configuration as recommended by SAP in both the systems, and we see that the BDOCS are getting generated and sent to the ECC system. The following steps have been successfully completed:
    1.       Set up the RFC connections between the two systems
    2.       Selected the connection type as Middleware in CRM system.
    3.       Installed the cProject Add on in CRM box.
    4.       Created a project scenario (with project and network profiles) in the PS system and assigned the same in the CRM system.
    5.       The Project Scenario in PS config has the same name as the Project Type in CRM config.
    6.       Created and released the campaign ids being created in the CRM system.
    As already mentioned, we can see that the BDOCS are coming to the ECC system and are getting stored in BDOC_TRACK table. However the issue is that the corresponding WBS elements are not getting generated in the ECC system. Is there anything that that we are missing in the ECC box which would trigger the WBS element creation?
    Request you all to share your inputs which would be immensely beneficial for us in achieving this integration.
    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Aditya Shrivastava

    Hello Aditya,
    We too are facing this issue.. if you have resolved the issue could you please let us know the solution ?
    Some inputs related to our system,
    We have upgrade from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0 SP07 and R/3 backend system is on 4.7 SP27, earlier we have completed the upgrade on sandbox without any issues which was upgrade to CRM 7.0 SP04 but with SP07 we are facing the problem of WBS Element not getting created in R/3.
    Your help is highly appreciated.
