Note Field in Contact App

Characters often not showing when I type them
But if i mouse click anywhere in the note area the text appears
It's just the note area that is a problem
Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply.
I already use Evernote, what I'm looking for is an app that doesn't require a network connection to sync - one that syncs in the same way as the Notes and Contacts apps that come with the iPhone OS.

  • Spotlight does not search the notes field in contacts

I can't get spotlight to search the notes field in a contact. I think that this used to work a short while ago. Am I missing something here?

That's just how iOS is right now. You should try out the "Contact Notes" app. It's just $0.99 (in the US), and lets you display and search all your contact notes, all from one page. Here's a link to iTunes page: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/contact-notes/id396281211?mt=8
Full disclosure: I made the app.

  • IOS 5 will not search "notes" field in Contacts

I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and I cannot search the ''notes" field in the Contacts App.
I work with a bunch of technicians and use the "notes" field to keep track of their expertise.  When I want to find a technician with a specific talent, I usually just search the notes field in the Addressbook program on my Mac.
But, searching within the Contacts App on iOS 5 apparently only searches within First/Last Names and Company Names.  iOS 5 will NOT search the "notes" field.
I have verified that this does not work on two other iPhone 4 phones.
Anyone have a solution?  Or can you at least verify that this is happening on both the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S?

Alas, the searching of the contact "notes" field has never worked in iOS 5 or any previous version of iOS. It is baffling as to why Apple will not fix this issue. Worst of all, there is an ongoing dialogue about this since iOS 4 first came out. And most notably, the iOS search does successfully search the calendar "Notes" field, so why not the contact "Notes" field. So why oh why won't Apple fix this?  Whether for personal or professional use there are so many iOS users that rely on a quick search of contact notes for various purposes. And I don't want to use another app for this. I just want this to work as expected in iOS.
Lastly - as everyone continues to state, even palm pilot used to search contact notes. This must be easy to implement!
Dear Apple - please be insanely great and implement this contact notes search feature into iOS 5 ASAP.

  • HT4872 My gmail contacts synced into FaceTime, but not in my contacts app.  how do I get them into the contact app on my ipa?

My gmail contacts synced into the. FaceTime contacts, not my contact app on my new iPad.  I don't think that is wise since Siri or I may try to make a  phone contact may actually be a factime call, butI don't know how to get them into the app ( tried via the "add account in settings, and with a cheap Google synch app) .

They could be on another page on your iPhone, try doing a search for the apps.  If you still don't see them restart your iPhone by holding down the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.  If you are still having problems try to reset your home screen.

  • Multiple Text Number fields in contacts app

When entering multiple phone numbers for a contact (Work, Mobile, Home), the system automaticall generates 3 additional Text enteries for each phone number entered .... if work and home are land line .. might not be able to send txt messages to these ... gives us option to delete or only generate if its a mobile number .... no need to have extra entries of no use for them...
    Anybody have a solution????

    Hi Toby
I think the layout of the contacts list is allowing for a home and/or work number to be either a mobile or a land line (which is sometimes the case these days). I believe you're presented with this choice when texting in order to allow you to differentiate between the number you want to either text or dial.
Myself, if I can't tell the difference between the three numbers of a little used Contact I will ascribe a new (slightly varied) Contact entry for them which denotes the difference (for instance:  TonyOffice, TonyTruck, Tony-America etc..)
Searching for Tony wil bring all of these up
As for the fields themselves, I see no way to change how they are presented.
    Regards, Simmo!

  • Sync'd contacts 'notes' field not showing in Outlook

    Hey all,
Short version: Our notes fields on contacts is rarely visible in Outlook, but often shows when synced to a device..  Can someone point to something that says how to fix it, or something that says it's not supposed to do so?
Here's the longer version with details...
We use Outlook 2013 and 2010, mailboxes are hosted on our 2013 server and everything is synced via Activesync.  I have a local contacts folder in Outlook that is synced to an iPhone.  If I modify the Notes field for the contact on the iPhone, it
never shows up on Outlook.  If I modify it in Outlook, it never shows up on the iPhone.  If I modify it on the iPhone or Outlook, it shows up on an Android.  If I modify it on an Android, it shows up on Outlook and an iPhone.  Here's the
kicker...  No matter what I modify it with, it ALWAYS shows up in Outlook Web Access.
Please keep in mind that I'm referring to a contact in a contact folder in the users' mailbox, NOT a contact from the GAL.  We know the difference.
Can anyone clarify what's happening here?  I've got a user who's driving me nuts about this and she's high enough in the company that this issue will never "go away" without a satisfactory explanation.
    --smthng

    Was this ever resolved?
I have a similar issue with my iPhone iOS7 and Outlook 2013:
    1) If I add/change a note in Outlook, it will show up in the contact info on iPhone
    2) If I add/change a note on the iPhone, it will SOMETIMES show up in the contact info
    3) Some contacts on my iPhone have two different "note" fields, one of which does sync, and the other not.
I'm guessing the issue could be that some contacts have that second "note" field which is called something else in Outlook... but what?

  • Why no contacts app in iPhone 5S?

I just got an iPhone 5s.  When I am in my phone app, I have a contacts tab with all of my contacts but I don't have a contacts app anywhere on my home pages nor in the dock.  Does the 5s not have a contacts app?

  • My Facebook contacts not showing up in Mac Contacts.app!

After the introduction of syncing your Facebook contacts with iOS, my contacts aren't syncing through iCloud completely.
Contacts that are added through Facebook show up in my iPhone Contacts but are not showing in the Contacts.app on my Mac (Mntn Lion).
When I manually add a field to a Facebook contact on my iPhone it does finally sync to my Mac. But then I would have to find all my missing Facebook contacts so this is not a solution.
The solutions offered on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998 have not solved anything.
Anyone else with this issue, solution? Thanks.

That's because they are not on iCloud, they are on Facebook which is a seperate account.
Add the Facebook account to your Mac.

  • Searching in Contacts app doesn't search all fields

Specifically, I find that the Contacts app on the iPad won't search the notes field (or the phone number or email fields for that matter).
Question: Is there a setting to enable this or a solution to cause the Contacts app search mechanism to include fields other than names?
It seems reasonable to desire search results to include notes you've made on the contact, phone numbers, emails etc. Often I find myself trying to find a contact based on a note or other info without remembering their name.

Interesting. Just tried this on my iPhone, and it is doing the same thing. So, not an iPad issue, an OS issue? I am betting there is not a way to enable this in the Apple supplied Contacts, there may be some other third paty app that maybe does this.
I really need to keep those Feedback links handy for easy pasting... Can someone post that link? Thanks!

  • Spouses, Assistants, etc... don´t synch to IPhone "Contact" App. Why not? Is there a solution?

The Addressbook in Lion has entry blanks that enable one to list a person's relatives and work colleagues. This feature was also available in Snow Leopard and Leopard.  These also exist in MobileMe, so when one synchs, the information from these entries are transferred to the Adressbook there.  However there are no such entries on the IPhone's "Contact" App. so this valuable data does not get tranferred to the IPhone when synching. And the option to add fields doesn´t include these.  Will Apple cure this annoying inconsistency?  Do you experience the same problem? What do you recommend as an interim solution?.

Someone posted this solution that was provided in a different thread which so far has worked. For step # 4) I just put the iPhone in Airplane Mode which seemed to work fine:
Here is the summary of the steps I took to correct the issue:
    1) Open the Phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
    2) When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
    3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, "Settings updated."
    4) Open the Task Manager and kill the Phone, Message, and Contacts Applications
    5) Wait a few minutes (I waited 3 just to be extra safe)
    6) Open the Message App to verify the fix.
If you are still broken, kill the Message App again, then reboot your phone.

  • Activesync issues with large contact notes field

I'm running into an issue where changes made at the end of a large note in a contact do not get synced, while changes at the beginning do.
Can anyone else confirm? Is this an activesync or apple implementation issue?
I ran into something similar on the blackberry side - would only evaluate first 1k chars. Fixed with a software update.

Please let me know whether you experience the following issue, and submit feedback (or if you are an Apple Developer, a bug report). This issue is not related to synchronization.
    Title/Subject:
Contacts 7.1 replaces one contact's Notes with another contact's Notes
    Summary:
This issue's significance is severe because data is permanently lost: After searching for contacts and editing one of the contact's Notes, all found contacts' Notes are replaced with the changed contact's Notes.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Launch the Contacts 7.1 app in OSX 10.8.2.
    2. Search for a string that appears in several contacts' Notes field.
    3. Click on one of the contacts in the search results.
    4. Ensure that "Edit Card" mode is NOT enabled.
    5. Alter the found string in the contact's Notes field.
    6. Click on a different contact in the search results list.
    Expected Results:
The change is saved and the changed contact disappears from the search results list.
    Actual Results:
All found contacts disappear from the search results list, and all found contacts' Notes are replaced with the changed contact's Notes.
    Regression:
This issue did not exist in OSX 10.7's Address Book app. I have not had the opportunity to test earlier releases of OSX 10.8's Contacts app.
    Notes:
    Example:
Suppose a search for "P1" finds three contacts:
Name: Alan  |  Note: Ask permission. P1
Name: Betsy  |  Note: Backup files. P1
Name: Charles  |  Note: Call. P1
While "Edit Card" mode is NOT enabled, in Alan's note, change "P1" to "P2". Then click on Betsy in the search results list. Betsy and Charles' Notes are erroneously and permanently replaced with Alan's Note:
Name: Alan  |  Note: Ask permission. P2
Name: Betsy  |  Note: Ask permission. P2
Name: Charles  |  Note: Ask permission. P2

  • Can't sync Address Book note field to iPhone contacts

    Hi:
I make heavy use of the "note:" field in my MacBook Address Book app. I store all kinds of detailed info about people, organizations, etc. in that field. I would like to be able to access that information on my iPhone 3G, but the phone's Contacts app has no corresponding "note" field.
Could this be a result of the way I imported data into my MacBook when I first got it?
In searching the fora, I found several people who said their iPhone contacts sync nicely with the Address Book note, and others who say it doesn't sync at all. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?
    Thanks!

Not quite sure what you mean by "editing" but I've tried every method of selecting, deleting, cursor placement, backspacing, and typing I can think of -- again, with and without the Edit button clicked. I did seem to accumulate a huge number of duplicates along the way, and there were more than a thousand cards in my Address Book; maybe I went over the limit?

  • Phone and Contacts APP not working after the upgrade 4.01 from 4.0

    Dear all
after the upgrade to 4.01 my iphone stop to operate the phone and the contacts app
when i open phone or contacts the app close(crash) after 1 sec.
When i connect to the mac i have the following message from itunes:
"iTunes could not sync to the iPhone"Christos" because contacts are being synced over-the-air."
Trying to open and change the settings at: mail, contacts, calendar but also crash
    Please help
    Thanks for your support

This happened to me after I upgraded to 4.0. While the iPhone update offers some great new features it has really done a number on some very basic functions and overall operation.
I am no longer able to use the contacts app to place calls. I can pull up my contact list but when I select an individual contact, the phone seems to freeze for a second and then crashes. (It might be worth mentioning that I use Exchange to sync my contacts.) While the contacts are all on the phone, I can't access actual contact information for each individual.
I'm also experiencing random freezes, touchscreen delays, etc.
I can deal with some minor bugs but not being able to use your contacts to place calls is a huge problem.
